This was going to be a very long chapter but I decided to split it in two. In Chapter 8, I accidentally misspelled Rusty's name to Ritchie. I'm so stupid for not realizing it sooner.
On a more important note, if you enjoy this story then consider Fav and Follow it would really help me continue this story.
A few hours ago
Lucy, Sally, and Sasha made their way toward the basement. It wasn't easy though, they had to pass many older kids who were walking around the hallway. Luckily, Lucy was great at hiding and manage to evade every teen they find. There was almost one slip up; literally. When Sally slipped and almost fell to the ground had it not been for Sasha to grab her. But it was enough to make a noise around the place. And the fact that they were next to a teen. They were lucky that the said teen was asleep sitting on his chair. One of the teens who were guarding the front door.
The basement was covered in chains and a padlock in the middle. Lucy turned to the two and asked if they had a hairpin they can borrow and Sasha gave her one and proceeds to open the padlock. The goth loud knew how to unlock a lock. She learned it from Leni when the latter used a hairpin to unlock a briefcase. It was still really shocking how someone like Leni can open a really hard lock.

The chains fell, careful not to get some of the chains to fall to her leg. Lucy took a step back though she loved the sound of chains rattled. It was creepy and ghoulish and had a sense of torment and she loved it.
It was dark, luckily Lucy brought a flashlight with her.
"Creepy," Sally said in a whispery voice.
"Stop it," Sasha told her making the other giggle.
"Just wait until we open the door," Lucy said in slight anticipation as she reached in her pockets and what came out in both of her hands were a screwdriver and a flashlight. Opening the door, the three girls were met with utter darkness. The younger two stepped closer to Lucy while the latter turned on the flashlight. She asked the two if they are ready; both said yes. Sally via excitedly and Sasha reluctant.
Lucy nodded and they begin their journey inside.
Lincoln stared quietly at the blue sky with a bored expression. Clyde, Liam, Rusty, Chandler, and Tucker were standing beside him chatting. The white-haired boy stood slightly away from the boys, ignoring their conversation. Still thinking of what had happened earlier. Lana burst out after witnessing Grease Monkey on the window eating her pets or so he was told. And Lucy has been in the bathroom for quite a while. He really should check soon cause there's no way she could be there for that long. For all he knew, there could be some older teens trying to assault her. The teens in this place are kinda weird and rude and his sisters were uncomfortable with it. Guess this is the consequence when there are only just kids living in this world after the world ended.
Okay, maybe calling it "The world ended" sounds too long and cheesy. He thought of names that are shorter. The thing that ended the world was a large green dust storm. Green Dust storm? Nah, that's still long. Green explosion? Nah, that sounded like a fart joke.
He was so focused on the thought that he didn't hear Clyde speaking to him.
"Lincoln!" Clyde raises his voice making the loud boy jolt in surprise.
"Wha?" Lincoln said in a daze.
"You dozed off, is something wrong?" Tucker asked.
"No just been thinking a lot that's all,"
"Is it about your sister?" Tucker asked.
Lincoln sighed. "Yeah, my sisters have been in a lot of stuff right now, Lana wants to hunt down Grease Monkey, Lucy is still in the bathroom, my older sisters are out there in the world, It's been stressing me out,"
The guys stared with sympathetic looks. Clyde patted his back.
"Why would Lana want to hunt down Grease Monkey?" Asked Chandler. "Don't she know she's just a kid? Plus Grease is like freakishly tall,"
"I know, and I try to keep her from going outside but she's too stubborn," Lincoln said. "I gotta get going and check Lana and Lucy," Lincoln said and walked to the door, Clyde deciding to follow him. The guys looked at each other and shrugged. Opting to follow the two as well since it was bored looking at the surrounding area. Except for Tucker who remained cause that's his duty.
The basement was anything but great; it was cold, pitch black, and total silent with Lucy's flashlight and the three kid's collective breathing being the only thing both being the source of light and sounds. The two younger girls held hand in hand one was more scared than the other.
"Booooo," Sally giggled causing Sasha to lightly slap the latter's shoulder in anger.
Lucy admired at how brave the little girl was. Normally, kids would be terrified and flee the dark basement while peeing their pants but not for this girl. What did this parent do to her? Presently, Lucy shone the light from place to place seeing boxes piled everywhere as well as table chairs and all kinds of useless school decorations. The solid concrete wall was covered with pipes that scoured through wooden frames that hung from the ceilings. While Lucy loved the silence, it was rather maddening even for her so she decided to speak up.
"Oh, ghost of old janitor. If you can hear me, give us a sign?"
Dead silence then suddenly a light tapping sound.
Sally gasped before giggling lightly making Sasha groan. The three walked closer to the sound. Lucy tried to identify it, but it was too far. They continue to follow the noise and Lucy could feel a sense of presence.
"I think he wants us to follow him," Lucy said to Sally and Sasha before facing front.
"Oh, spirit, are you the ghost of the janitor who slipped on a puddle of water from your own mop?" Lucy explained as she swore she heard the sound of sneakers rubbing against the floor. It almost reminded her of those who slipped on a wet floor.
"Clumsy janitor," Sally giggled causing Sasha to shush her.
The sounds beginning to grow louder. Its gotta be him.
"Hey, look it that him?" Sally pointed at the faint light coming from the far end of the room.
"Only one way to find out," In all her years of ghost hunting she received little to no success. Whenever she thought she found a ghost, it just turned out to be something completely natural. Like her cat Cliff inside the walls of her house or one of her siblings venturing in the kitchen in the middle of the night. They inched ever so closely towards the light, hearts racing like crazy. All of the thoughts that Lucy was going to ask to the ghost-like "What's it like being dead?" "Is it fun?" "Met any famous celebrities yet?..."Are my parents there?"
She soon realise that this could be a chance to ask the ghosts if her parents were there in the afterlife. Speaking of the afterlife, it's probably going to be crowded now since there are less than 7 billion people suddenly appearing out of nowhere.
When they reached the light they found out it was just a light coming out of a window. Lucy was confused and disappointed at first but then started to get worried. She looked around the whole basement and found every window to be boarded up. Her heart sank when she noticed she was stepping on little glass pieces before her blood turned into ice when looking back at the window and putting the two and two together.
The younger two were starting to get worried by Lucy's shivering. Even Sally was scared as well.
The sudden sounds of raspy breathing and approaching footsteps completely shattered the ice in her veins. A strange feeling drew inside the Goth, her thoughts of darkness, gloom, and misery shot out from her mind and were replaced with adrenaline, fear, and survival.
Lucy's invisible eyes widen with fear letting out a cry towards the two like she never cried before.
"RUN!"
Lucy tugged the two along and made a dash for the stairs. Both were confused and terrified about why she was scared. It was when a loud wail came from nearby that kickstarted the kids to maximum overdrive. Sasha and Sally came to the realization of what the footsteps and the broken glass meant. The former screamed and her eyes were welled with tears. She couldn't see past her tears and all she had to guide her was Sally grabbing her arm who was being guided by Lucy's cold hands. Leading them through the darkness towards the bright light that was being cast down upon them.
Lucy and the two ran so fast it was a miracle that they didn't trip. Lucy's heartbeat was so strong she could feel it everywhere across her body. Gone was that dark, scary, and miserable look she always put and was replaced with a scared little eight-year-old girl that wanted her mommy to be by her side.
As soon as they reached the door, Lucy turned and slammed the door with unholy strength just as a hand popped up and crushed the hand as a result. Preventing the door from closing completely. The goth girl tried her best to close it completely with Sally and Sasha helping her out but the adult pushing it was too strong. The kids screamed their lungs out calling for help. Eventually, one teen did show up. It was that sleeping kid they snuck past earlier.
"What the fuck?!" The teen shouted and ran towards them and lightly slammed his body against the door. He struggled to close it due to his skinny body, he told one of the kids to go get help. Lucy immediately did so which prompted the other two to follow her. "Hey come back here!" He shouted, hoping one of the kids to come and help him but Sally and Sasha were so small it wouldn't make much of a difference.
The teen mustered up all the strength he can to push the door close but unfortunately, it was an inevitable defeat and the adults emerge from the basement.
Doug lean against the wall trying his best not to fall asleep at how boring this was. It hadn't even been a while since Stan and the rest left for middle school and he was already feeling fatigued. Another teen walked up to him. A tall ginger kid named Tyler.
"Sucks eh?" Tyler groaned and took a seat next to Doug.
"Tell me about it," The teen said while looking at the ceiling with half-lidded eyes. "You know, I really thought living in a world without adults would be sick, then I'd be able to eat, drink, stay up late and watch R-rated movies and go out party with girls,"
"If you don't count that we're literally in a zombie movie, then I agree,"
"Speaking of Zombie movies, what do you think these adults are that relate to the zombie genre?"
"Well, they can't be walking dead since dudes can run a mile away," Tyler said. "What about those zombies from 28 days later?"
Doug pondered about it and he was right. The zombies from that said movie are easily comparable to the ones right now. Both run, crazy and feral. The only thing different is how those adults don't infect kids when they bite them, unlike the movies. Thank god that doesn't happen otherwise we would be fucked. It's so similar it's rather uncanny. Though, thinking about it now makes Doug a little bit shaken.
"Let's talk about something else, talking about zombies gives me the creeps, especially at the state wherein,"
Tyle nodded as he felt bad for even bringing a now touchy subject. He thought of what other topic he could discuss that won't involve death. If he could think properly if it wasn't for the uncomfortable chair he was in. Stupid Duke didn't give me a better chair.
"Duke is such an asshole am I right?" Said Tyler.
This made Doug lighten up a little and scoffed. "Yeah, why he gotta be all bossy and shit? If I was in charge I'd make this place a little better," Doug
"How?" Said Tyler.
"For one thing, I'd let boys and girls sleep on the side of the room if you know what I mean hehe..." Doug titered like a pervert.
"Oh yeah bro, shame that Duke won't let anyone get their freaks on, I'll finally get to sleep in the same room with a girl, or even girls and were forbidden to even near each other," Tyler sighed. He thought that Duke might even be an incel.
"If was stronger, I'd challenge Duke for dominance,"
"Duke ain't the problem, it's his gay friend Joey. Dudes one tough son of a bitch. As long as he's around, no ones gonna try and hurt Duke,"
He wasn't wrong though. Joey was a skilled expert in axe battle and before the world ended, he has taken on several big bullies who'd made fun of not just him but other vulnerable kids who couldn't defend themselves. So fighting him wouldn't be an option and theirs also that weird fact of being beaten by a gay dude it was bothering. Doug shook his head to instead draw his attention back to girls.
"It's not always have to be sex. I just wanted someone to hold on to and cuddle. If I can't snuggle with girls, who am I supposed to nestle with? A guy? Fuck no!"
Tyle folded his arms. "Even if we were allowed, I'm not the most handsome guy out there, why would a girl ever love me?"
"Hey, come on now," Doug places a hand on the teen's shoulder with a sympathetic smile. "At least you don't have a big nose like me,"
That made Tyler lighten up a bit; giving a slight chuckle.
"Tell ya what, once our shifts over, maybe we could chat with some girls, I'll even hook you up with one,"
That's when they heard the sounds of Lucy, Sally, and Sasha screaming.
"Too young for my taste,"
"Well, maybe back then,"
"Dude,"
"I'm kidding, I'm kidding,"
"No, dude look!" Tyler raised his voice prompting Doug to look and saw the three girls running towards them with a great amount of fear in their expression.
"What's the matter?" Asked Tyler.
"ADULTS!" Lucy screamed through quick breaths. The two teens looked at her in confusion before they saw the adults fastly approaching them. Like 28 days later. Doug bit his bottom lip and told the three to run.
Lincoln went back downstairs to find Lana and Lucy. He knew Lana was in the bleachers with Marco calming her down while he went to the roof to get a breather but Lucy was in the bathroom for too long and it was getting a little worrying for the loud boy. He asked one of the girls who went into the bathroom if Lucy was there.
"I didn't see her anywhere," Girl Jordan told him. This made Lincoln worried, he knew something was not right. He around the school and saw Lana coming towards him and grabbing his hand.
"Lincoln come on,"
"Whoa, where are we going?"
"To the woodshop, of course, going to ask Tom if he can teach us a few tricks about archery," What Lana didn't tell him was that she only wanted him there so she could feel safe.
"Have you seen Lucy by any chance? She wasn't in the bathrooms," This made Lana worry.
"Did you check the vents maybe she's there,"
Just as Lincoln was about to say something but was interrupted by a familiar voice. He and Lana turn to find Lucy running towards them with Sally and Sasha running beside her. Two older teens were there as well. All sporting terrified expressions.
"Lucy!" Lincoln and Lana shouted. Both ran towards them who were frantically waving. That's when Lincoln saw a huge army of adults running across the hallway. He froze. Suddenly, he felt that same feeling he had during that day, the day it all began. He wanted to scream and run out of the school and into his house and hide under his bed cover like a baby. But when he saw the terrified look on her sister's face slapped the thought of cowardice out of his mind and replaced it with a powerful need to save his sisters.
He saw Clyde coming towards him and also saw the adults coming this way. Lincoln told him to take Lana with him but the latter wanted to stay and fight. Clyde then lifted her up and ran. Lincoln then turned to Lucy and with a deep breath charged at full speed, grabbed the three, and ran as fast as he could. Just the thought of her sister getting devoured gave Lincoln a boost of incentive he needed. Kids who were drawn to the noise emerged from the gym. They had a face of confusion before instantly switching to fear as they saw the adults as well. Running from the other direction. Teens nearby escorted the younger ones to a safer place.
Lincoln placed the three down and told them to go to the gym immediately. Lucy was about to counter his statement but his sudden shout of the word GO! Made Lucy jolt and Sally and Sasha made a run towards the hall.
Lincoln opened the gym doors making his way for Chloe who was holding Lily. She stared at him with wide glassy eyes. As Lincoln ran, he was accompanied by his pet Charles.
"Lincoln what's going on?" Rusty asked. Liam and the rest of the kids were with him.
"ADULTS!"
The mere mentions of adults sent every kid into a frenzy. Every child ran and ran towards the door, one of them getting caught by the adults. Lincoln made his way to Chloe and grabbed Lily.
"Come on," Said Lincoln as they went to some double doors on the opposite end of the gym. Only to be greeted by green rotten-faced adults.
"The bleachers!" Chloe told them.
"We'll hold them off!" A teen shouted. Lincoln and the rest of the kids ran on top of the bleachers. The older teens stood at the bottom to fend off the adults. Lincoln stared at the mess unfolding and thought back to the Titanic sinking. The top of the bleachers was the Titanic's stern and the adults were the rising water. He held Lily tight as tears ran across her little cheeks.
"Please help us..."
Around the school, every kid was warned of what happend and was told to run for the auditorium. Lola and Lisa had come out of their respective duties and ran to find their siblings. Both are accompanied by Patrick and Brian. They soon came across each other and now tried to find the rest. They then where met with Clyde who was carrying Lana as well as Lucy, Sally, and Sasha. Clyde told them they should go to the auditorium quickly. Lola asked where Lincoln and Lily were but he didn't answer and just told them to keep going.
"Please let them be safe!" Lola cried as she and Lisa were dragged along.
They made their way to the auditorium busting through the double doors like a mad man. They looked around to find kids and teens slouching around the seats. Duke sat on his throne with Joey right beside him and Randy sitting nearby.
"Whoa, what's wrong dude? There a fire? Did Sander did it?"
"Worse, adults. There in the hallway and kids are trapped in there!" Clyde told him as he and the rest ran towards the stage. Duke and Joey looked at each other before looking at the double door and a swarm of kids ran inside all were screaming and crying incoherently.
Duke felt like he got hit by a speeding train; not sure what to think. Joey however got up with a wide grin.
"Hell yeah, about time something interesting happens!" Joey yelled and told the other teens to follow him. Some were too afraid and hid while others follow without hesitation. He turned to Duke and asked, "Are you going or not?"
Duke shrugged his shoulders not sure what to answer and Joey rolled his eyes. He ran towards the door passing Doug and Tyler who looked at each other and nodded, wanting to join in on the action. Joey ran until he reached a group of adults. All were sickly looking. The male adult at the head of the pack reach for Joey who effortlessly swung his ax right at the adult's head; decapitating it.
"Get rekt cunt!"
An older-looking woman with dark hair ran towards him with a demonic growl. He responded with a sideways swing on her neck. Head came clean. Sounds of cheering came from behind Joey as he spotted teens slamming adults with all sorts of assortments. While it wasn't a contest, Joey nevertheless continued to swing his axe as more and more adults fell. Duke looked on as the kids were cheering Joey on and the other teens mowing down every adult in their sight. I wanna make it look like I did something. Picking up a speer, he told Randy to watch the kids as he charged near the group; standing behind them poking his speer at any adult who come close while another teen kills it.
"Come on we're just getting started!" Joey shouted maniacally as an adult came charging close and Joey killed it with ease. The adult then stopped fighting and retreated. "Where the fuck do ya'll think you're going!?" He soon began to chase them and manage to hit a few adults but the others were too fast. Luckily the other teens got that covered.
"Quickly to the gym!" Joey yelled and led everybody through the doors.
They soon arrived and were met with a sight of kids huddled together on top of the bleachers while the teen below kept the adults from climbing in. Swarms of dead bodies lay on the floor with some adult kneeling beside them.
"Reinforcements ready!" Joey shouted and everyone turned to look at him in relief. The adults however were now after them.
"You picked the wrong group mess with," Joey coldly stated as he and the teens charged at the advancing group, killing everyone who came close. Joey saw a tall man in his 20's and slammed his axe across his face. The kids on top of the bleachers sat down with a tired sigh looking in solace as every adult where decimated. Meanwhile back in the auditorium Clyde and the rest of the younger sisters stood and heard the sounds of cheering across the halls.
"Do you think they got them?" Lola asked.
"It sure sounds like it," Clyde told her.
Then, one teen came out through the door and yelled, "They got them!"
Wasting no time, Lola and Lisa ran quickly to the door with the rest of the siblings and Clyde following her.
Lincoln looked with a relieved stare. Still cradling Lily in his arms and Charles by his side. Next to him was Rusty hugging his brother Rocky, Liam, Girl Jordan, Mollie, Chloe, and many others. His shoulder slumped and with a look anguish upon seeing Cookie; the girl Mrs. Johnson bit laid on the floor lifeless. Girl Jordan saw her as well and cried silently. He looked seeing some of his classmates still alive. Then he saw Chandler standing casually with his hand inside his pockets not even fazed by the carnage. Lincoln hated himself for being disappointed that he was still alive. He sighed and shifted his focus on his sisters and hoped that they're all right
As if on cue, Lola suddenly emerged from the door and immediately broke down upon seeing Lincoln and Lily. She screamed their name and Lincoln turn to see her. Brushing past the other teens who told him to wait ran towards Lola with tears in his eyes.
Lisa came in after losing Lola while running. Looked at the kids from the bleachers and was almost worried that she couldn't find Darcy but saw her next to Trinity and a few other kids. She sighed with relief and then saw Lincoln, Lily, and Lola hugging.
"Oh, thank goodness," said Lisa as she ran towards the three. They all hugged and left the gym.
Clyde, Lana, and Lucy saw Lincoln and the rest and ran towards them. The twins hugged each other, Lincoln and Clyde hugged as well, Chloe then came up and hugged Clyde before crying on his shoulders telling him how scary it was back there.
"It's alright I'm here now," Clyde assured her.
Lisa snuggled Lily in her arms and Lucy just stood there with relief and saw Sally and Sasha walking towards her with sad expressions. That's when Lucy remembered. It was her fault.
"Where the hell did they come from?" Duke asked Doug in ire.
"I don't know, all I know was that they were chasing that little goth girl and her friends," He pointed at the three.
Duke squinted at the three with suspicion. He doesn't recognize the one with yellow overalls. But he does know the other two. One was a loud and the other was Stan's sister.
"Hey!" Duke shouted grabbing everyone's attention. "You wouldn't happen to know how these adults came into the school now would you?"
The three stood in silence. Lucy looked at the floor with a red hue forming on her cheeks.
"I asked you a question, how did they come here?" He stepped closer to Lucy with angry brows.
"Hey what the heck man?" Lincoln said, stepping in front of his little sister.
"Doug told me that these guys showed up chasing these three down the hall and into the gym," Duke mentioned. "So it's pretty clear they have something to do with it,"
"I'll ask her, just back off," Lincoln told him in a defensive manner.
"Hey don't tell me to back off kid!" Duke exclaimed.
Lincoln ignored this and knelt beside Lucy with a sympathetic look. "Now tell me what happened Lucy?"
"W-well...Me, Sally and Sasha. We snuck in the basement looking for ghosts," Lucy felt embarrassed at that last part that she said quietly. Unfortunately, Duke heard her.
"Seriously!? But the door was locked up! The hell did you get in there!?"
Lincoln glared at the teen and Lucy continued.
"I used a hairpin to unlock it and we went down there. There was a broken window so that's where they probably went in,"
"Fuck!" Duke exclaimed before turning to Joey who nodded and he along with a few teens went down the halls. They soon reached the basement and found a devoured kid. They walked across it with disgust and made their way downstairs and saw what was supposed to be the broken window. They laughed at the sight of a chubby bald adult with a black mustache stuck in the window panel. Joey told them to leave him; making him a fine barricade. They went back upstairs, locking it with the chains again.
They got back and nodded at Duke that it was done. He nodded back before turning his attention back to the loud sibling.
"I'm beyond pissed to even say anything so here's what's gonna go down. All of you will help us clean all of this mess only when your sisters get back that we'll have a serious talk," He then turns to Lucy. "Especially you,"
While Duke was mad. He was kind of glad this ordeal happend. Now they would have to turn to him for advice. He looked at Lisa who was hugging Lily tight. She had no use by the time she told him she can't make a cure so this was her chance to do something.
Sally was about to say something but Duke stopped her.
"And you," Duke pointed at Sally. "Stan won't be happy when he finds out you were part of this whole mess,"
Sally looked down with a blush.
Lucy's whole body shook as tears started streaming down her cheeks. Lincoln and the other siblings hugged her even Sally and Sasha joined in.
"This is all my fault, I was the one who lead them here, I should have been the one to die,"
"Don't say that Lucy," Lincoln told her. "You never meant for this to happen,"
"But it did, If I wasn't such a freak I never would have gone to the basement to look for some stupid ghosts," She turned to the two. "I'm sorry for letting you guys into that basement,"
"No, Lucy it was our fault for not stepping up," Sasha told her.
"Yeah, I was the one who suggest we go, I should be the one to blame," Sally looked down with guilt.
"None of you are to blame," Lincoln said. "And Lucy you're not a freak, you're a little girl with unique interest. We wouldn't have you any other way,"
Lincoln's words of encouragement made Lucy light up a little. But that still wasn't good enough for the deaths of many innocent kids. Something she's forced to live with.
Lisa looked at the carnage all around her. She saw Darcy running across the hall screaming her name while crying. They both held a tight embrace and Lisa thought of something.
"Darcy, will you accompany me to the laboratory while I perform some tests?"
"Of course," Darcy exclaimed ignoring Duke's order of staying to clean up. She was busy with something else.
"Your gonna be alright?" Lincoln asked the sisters looked at her in worry.
"Indeed I will," She responded walking with Darcy.
For the rest of the day, every kid and teen had to clean up every mess around the school. Kids dragged bodies of dead adults out into the grass behind the school while older teens watch. They piled them up while others went to work digging holes to bury them. After some headcount. It was confirmed that only 12 kids died.
"If it wasn't for Larry's weird-ass sister looking for some fucking ghost we wouldn't be here digging holes," Chandler spoke irritably.
"Just forget about it," Rusty told him. "I'm just glad we didn't lose that many," Chandler just scoffed.
"Which his sister would have been one of them," Chandler quietly stated.
Lincoln and Clyde both went digging holes while Lucy went and mop of the school floor, Sally, Sasha, and a few other older kids joined as well. Clyde breathed heavily. "That was so scary man, just a few weeks ago I thought I felt safe now that we're here in school but after what just happened. I don't think I'll ever feel safe again," Clyde thought of his dad and how overprotective they were. One time when he went to a sleepover with Lincoln, his dads made sure to pack every piece of equipment he needed like medicine, inhaler, humidifier, etc. He always thought they were so overprotective that he wish he could stay away from them at least once. But now, he would do anything to get them back.
"Yeah, sure thing," Lincoln said in a muttering tone carefully observing the bodies wrapped in white cloth with slightly wide eyes. He could have been one of those bodies. Or Lily. God, not Lily. Anyone but her. Clyde saw this and walked up to him.
"You alright buddy?"
"Back in the bleachers, Clyde. All of us were surrounded by adults and I just couldn't get it out of my mind, what would have happened?" Lincoln told him. Ever since that faithful event, the white-haired boy hasn't been doing great. He would often shiver when walking around. Lots of things would have happend had Joey and the others didn't arrive in time.
"I know buddy but what matters most is that your alive," Clyde said reassuringly.
"He's just a pussy," Chandler scoffed. Clyde looked at him with a glare. That's when he noticed Lincoln slowly standing up.
"Why weren't you scared?" Lincoln said in a stoic and almost robotic tone.
Chandler stopped what he was doing and raised his head in confusion. "What are you..." Suddenly out of nowhere, he felt a hand reach out to his neck before being dragged to the ground.
"I said why weren't you scared?" Lincoln coldly stated, eyes burning with fury. Ironically, Chandler was scared right at this moment. He had never seen Lincoln act like this, and neither was Clyde and anybody else watching him pinning the red-haired kid down.
"I-I was scared I was scared like all of us,"
"You didn't look like it when I saw you on that bleachers,"
"Lincoln stop!" Clyde insisted as he too was getting worried. Lincoln gritted his teeth; wind flares from his nostrils. They saw him raise his left hand thinking he was gonna punch him.
"T-Take it easy man," Chandler calmly told him. The fearful eyes made the white-haired boy snap back to reality and look at Chandler. Forgetting he was the scummy freeloader that bullies him through elementary and instead saw a scared little boy. A thought he never imagined coming to life. He released him and took a step back.
"S-sorry, really," Lincoln said. "I just don't know what came over me,"
"Maybe you should relax for a moment buddy let's get you out of here," Clyde told him. And with that, the two went inside the school, leaving the rest confused and scared. Wondering what has gotten into Lincoln.
"You were scared huh?" Liam said to Chandler trying to lighten up the mood.
"Fuck you,"
Lincoln and Clyde opened the door to go to a more comfortable place where they walked past Lucy who saw everything when she was walking through the door. She felt like crying again. Not only that she murdered every kid around her but almost killed her own brother and youngest sister and gave the former extreme trauma.
"I'm sorry,"
Lola and Lana sat on the bleachers, watching as the older kids were cleaning up all the mess up. Trinity and a few kids besides them. Lily laid in Chloe's arm. The events that had transpired field Lana's desire to hunt and kill Grease Monkey. Even as far as whispering the word kill over and over.
"Lana, stop doing that, it's freaky," Said Lola. Lana just looked down with a heavy sigh.
"I swear Lola, I'm gonna do it, I'm going to kill Grease Monkey,"
"For the last time, you are not allowed to go outside and you are too young to go out there," Lola argued.
"I can fight, I'll just get all the weapons I need and ask Tom for some target practice,"
"I don't want you to get hurt or even..." Lola shivered at that last part.
"I'll be fine, I already killed an adult before so this will be no big deal,"
Their conversation was not unheard by the little children Trinity was watching over who came up towards the two with curious expression.
"You really want to fight these thing?" One kid spoke.
"Heck yeah I do, I can fight anything!" Lana responded proudly.
"Well, I wanna fight!"
"Uh, why?"
"After I saw Joey and the others fight those things, I thought it was so cool and brave. I wanted to fight against these guys especially when we were trapped in the bleachers but the older kids wouldn't let me. I just wanna prove to myself that I can do something more than just sitting around doing nothing,"
Soon after the kid made that statement, other kids began to voice their reasons of wanting to join.
"Not bad, got a name?"
"Timmy,"
"You got courage Timmy. You may not look like one but size doesn't matter when you have numbers. Tell you what, if you and others can gather up as much kids as you can, we can kill Grease quick and easy. Now go on,"
Timmy nodded and he and a few kids were about to walk away from the bleachers before Lola stopped them.
"Oh, no you don't, kid don't you dare listen to what she says and stay here," She shouted at them. Even in an apocalypse, Lola can still act like her old self from time to time.
"Come on Lols, with this we can go there and kill Grease Monkey quick without anyone noticing!"
"What about shooting him with a bow?"
"Screw that, I wanna go up close and personal!" Then Lana thought. "In fact, you can help me as well!"
"What!?" Lola exclaimed in bemusement.
"I've seen you throwing darts from far away and still hit the target, If I somehow lose to Grease Monkey, you can hit him from far away so I can deal with the final blow! It's full proof!"
"Lana, I am not going out there and get killed even if I'm your personal sniper, besides look around you. Haven't you seen enough blood for one day?" Lola said, pointing at all the blood still being cleaned at the floor.
"He murdered my pets right in front of me you don't know what it's like!" Lana suddenly shouted.
"Are you still going on with that? They're just a bunch of dumb wild animals,"
"Take that back!"
"Make me!"
"Take it back or I swear I'll cut your hair off,"
"You do that and I'll reject you as my sister!"
Lana gasped in shock before turning red and slapped Lola in the cheek really hard. Expecting a painful return, instead was met with silence. She saw Lola with a hurt expression and tears falling from her cheeks. She turned the other way crying. Lana stood there agape. Not believing what she had done. Trinity comforted Lola and asked what happened.
"We were arguing about which pizza topping is better," Lana told her. She felt bad for doing that to Lola, she didn't do anything wrong she was just scared for her.
Present Time
Finally, after what seems like forever. The group had finally made it back into the Elementary School.
"Were here," Stan called out. The school was just on the horizon and they could never be happier to go back home.
"So this is the place huh?" Ethan asked. "You dudes sure fortified it,"
"Yeah we were that ready," Jake said.
The three louds were just as glad to be finally back home with their other siblings. Stan told them that Duke would wanna hear from all of them though they knew he just doesn't wanna explain the whole thing by himself.
Back inside, an older kid ran up to the gym, running towards another teen who told him of something that made the other widen his eyes. He looked at Trinity, telling her to watch the kids as they have company.
The twins, having slightly cooled down after their heated argument began to grow wary, sensing the possible threat of adults coming into the school, they scooted next to Trinity. Lincoln and Clyde were walking down the hall, Chloe and Lucy (Who saw him and decided to walk with him) were right beside them. Clyde had been trying to calm Lincoln after he attacked Chandler earlier. That's when they saw a teen running past them, he looked to be in a hurry. Confused, they followed him.
Duke sat on his chair as usual with a tired sigh when Tyler opened the door who had a worried expression.
"What up?" Said Duke.
"Stan and the rest are back,"
"Great, tell them to come here and talk about their little journey,"
"Yeah, that's the thing,"
"What?" Duke asked. Did someone die? Oh, well. He had hoped one of the loud sisters died, especially Lynn. He hated her stubborn "In your face" attitude.
"Don't freak out but, they brought company,"
Duke looked at him with a confused "Huh?"
Tyler then left the room and a minute later, he came back and what followed was Stan; the loud sisters; a blonde girl with a blue streak; a boy with curly brown hair; Jake; then a guy Duke recognized as Zeke; A kid wearing a football helmet and over 50 other kids who wore colt jerseys while others wore regular clothing.
Lincoln and Lucy who were in the auditorium saw the loud sisters who saw them as well ran up to the three and gave them a tight embrace.
"You came back!" Lincoln exclaimed happily.
"You know it, bro!" Luna told him.
While they were enjoying their reunion. Duke was the opposite. He got up from his seat and before he spoke, Randy suddenly shouted.
"Hoosiers! Gene Hackman, Barbara Hershey, Dennis Hopper…"
"Shut up, Randy!" Duke shouted before turning his attention back to the group. "The fuck is this?!"
Stan walked up to him and told him of the events that had unfolded following their mission to middle school (heh) From, meeting Sam and Benny, to the Church, to Jeremy's death. To which he couldn't continue further as he was reminded of his friend's death, broke down saying how he couldn't save him and had to leave him. Mary and Cooper came and console the teen.
Duke tried his best to look upset but was limited to a small frown. Too focused on the new group. Plus, it's not like he knew Jeremy that much anyway. Cooper then step up and finished the rest. From the sewers to him getting attacked by the water and Lynn saving her, and finally meeting with the Colts.
Duke just nodded, he did wonder why Cooper looked pale and smelled like shit. He then turned to Zeke, he still looked the same as he had always saw him; strange and stoic. He would talk to him later since he already knows of him. He moved on to Ethan and told him a bit about himself. Ethan took off his helmet and told him a long story that is too long to write for this chapter, but that's when he looked serious. "I didn't tell the rest of this but, me and my gang were being chased by this massive group of hoards led by a woman in a pink dress we dubbed The Princess. But we manage to escape them," He spoke the last part with confidence, hoping Duke wouldn't be worried. It did not work.
"What!?" Duke said in shock. "Where the fuck did you last see them? Or how far did you run from them? Hell, how close they even are?"
"Oh, they're far away," Ethan brushed it off as if it wasn't a big deal which only exacerbates Duke's annoyance.
"Idiot, If they show up here I'm going to kill you!"
"Ree-lax, I'm a hundred percent sure we lost them,"
"Damn it, we could be sitting ducks in this school. Were all fucked if they suddenly surround us like the zombies from Dawn of the Dead, Night of the Living Dead. Duke thought of suggesting Thriller by Michael Jackson but Randy suddenly shouted.
"Dawn of the Dead! Ving Rhames, Jake Weber, Ty Burrell, Michael Kelly-"
"Shut up, Randy!" If they did ever show up, he'd throw Randy at them as a sacrifice.
Ethan looked at Randy with bewildered confusion. What the hell was that? Norman walked up to Duke and said. "You don't really call them zombies do you?"
"No, it was just an example,"
"Good, because they aren't zombies. They are walking corpses who were brought back by magic or some kind of experiment. And as I know, when these adults bite someone, they don't turn into one of them,"
"So what do you call them?"
"We usually call them adults or grown-ups but we did see someone who was no older than 16-"
"The virus only infects those who are 16 and older, or so we were told," Duke told him.
"Right, so we should call them something else other than zombies as they are purely fictional,"
"They are real,"
"Huh? No, they don't"
"Ever heard of Rob Zombie?"
"I don't like him," said Lincoln which surprised Lynn who was beside her.
"You don't?" Lynn asked.
"Yeah, he ruined Halloween for me,"
"Okay, that's understandable,"
"He's just a cartoon character," Norman said, matter-of-factly making a few kids giggle. "What?"
"House of 1000 Corpses. Sid Haig, Erin Daniels, Rainn Wilson, Walton Goggins- "
"I said shut up Randy!"
"Why does he keep doing that?"
"Probably has Tourette's syndrome," Duke sighed. "Now, we need to come up with a name for these guys, any suggestions?"
"Infected," someone said.
"No way," said Duke.
"Biters?" another voice called out.
"Nah,"
"Strangers?"
"Monsters?"
"Sickos?"
Soon every kid chose their names for the adults to which Duke turned down.
"Greens," A voice called out. They all turned to Stan sporting a poker face.
"Huh?"
"We called them Greens,"
"Why?"
"I've thought about it since walking back here, those adults have these oddly strange skin tones that they have," Stan told him.
"Yeah, that's perfect, from now on we'll call this adults Greens," Duke proudly stated which cause some disapproval from the auditorium.
"Seriously man? I think there are a few names way better than Greens," Lynn groaned.
"Yeah, and it sounds boring and shitty," Ethan folded his arms.
"Whatever, I'm the leader and we're going to call it greens," Said Duke. Lynn rolled her eyes, every name before was a lot better.
"Okay now that we have a name for that, what about naming the day that started it all?" Jake chirped.
"Why?"
"Cause I'm not going to call it "The day the world ended" or "New World" over and over it's a mind-fuck,"
"Yeah, In fact, why do we even call it "the world ended?" Let's change that, any options?"
The teens told every name they could think of ranging from The Blast, Judgement Day- which was actually cool but Duke turned it down- The Virus, End of the world, 2012 the sequel, etc. Just like before, Duke turned every name down. It wasn't until Lincoln raised his hand.
"Yeah what do you got?"
"Green Mist," Said Lincoln surprising everyone including the loud sisters. "We should call it The Green Mist,"
"Why?"
"Cause that green air was pretty misty, and what Stan said about how these adults had green skin,"
"Yeah, fuck it I'm calling it Green Mist," And with that, for the rest of this story, the day the world ended is now going to be dubbed The Green Mist.
"For someone who's the leader, your really bad at picking which name is good,"
"I like it," Said Ethan. "It sounds pretty cool,"
"Green Mist actually sounds cool, just calling it Greens is dumb. Plus your lucky my brother was the one who got the name,"
"What about Green Hiroshima?" A kid laughed causing some to laugh as well.
"Alright, now that the dust has settled, why don't we go back to where we're supposed to be doing and just have a little chat," Duke said with his hands on his hips, that's when Luna stepped up. She asked him if she would be excused for a while as she needed to see Lisa. "It'll be a few seconds,"
"Um, why?"
Luna walked closer and whispered in his ear.
"This Zeke guy, has something off about him and could be the key to our survival, remember that only people 16 and older can become infected?" Duke nodded.
"He's 16,"
Duke looked at her as if he was about to say. Really? Then to Zeke with wide eyes and a smirk. Guess, we'll survive after all.
"Very well, go to the left hall," And with that, Luna grabbed Zeke and lead him to the science lab. Sensing something, Lincoln decided to follow them.
"What's that all about?" Lynn asked.
"Nothing, now why don't you all just take a seat,"
Luna led Zeke down the hall with Lincoln following them. Luna thought that this might finally be a chance for humanity to survive. Just before we would die right at the old age of 16. To her, 15 was the elderly age and she could die anytime. But with Zeke, there could be hope for this world.
"Your gonna love her, she might be annoying at first but you'll get used to it,"
"Alright," Zeke responded. He wasn't listening to her that much as the voices inside his head still echoed as usual. Though he did notice it started growing louder than usual.
"Luna what's going on and who's this guy?" But Luna ignored him, too focused on her own thought.
Zeke turned to the white-haired boy. "My name is Zeke, you must be Lincoln," The loud boy nodded.
"He's very important," Luna then told Lincoln that this guy was 16 causing the white-haired boy to gasp.
"Really?"
"Yep," Luna replied.
Lisa was busy talking with Darcy who was trying not to fall asleep with Lisa's big words when Luna arrived at the door with Lincoln with her. She was very glad to see Luna and asked her where Lynn and Luan were.
"There at the auditorium,"
"That's a relief, now what do you need?"
Luna then showed her to Zeke.
"Remember when you said I'd try to find someone who's 16 but still looking fresh?" She nudged her thumb at Zeke with a smirk. "I found one,"
Chris and his gang made their first stop at Hazeltucky Elementary. It wasn't that many kids which disappointed Chris but they were able to find more greens for his growing army.
He looked around and he was certain his army was now over a thousand which both pleases him but at the same time, annoying cause now he has more mouths to feed. What's more annoying was that these adults were dumber than the others.
"Maybe I should use them as human shields," Said Chris.
"Mhm." Crony nodded.
Chris told everyone to move out and head off to Hungiton Oaks. Hopefully, there would be more kids there. They continued down the road, leading to a path of destruction.
