A/N: I'm back just like I promised guys! Thanks so much for the response to the last chapter, it was incredible! But I shouldn't be surprised because you guys are always so amazing! I hope you guys like this chapter, Embry and Bella are about to find out about the imprint and about the legends, there's a little twist thrown in there too so enjoy!
Disclaimer: Everything belongs rightly to Stephanie; I'm just spicing up the plot a little bit.
Bella POV: "Embry imprinted on me? What does that mean?" I asked curiously, without taking my eyes off of him. Something inside me just wouldn't allow me to look away. He caught my eye and smiled shyly, like he had when we first met and my heart skipped a beat.
"Guys," Sam said. "Did you even hear what I said?"
"No, sorry Sam," Embry's voice was dazed as he came over to take my hand and lead me to the couch. "Can you tell us again?"
Sam groaned and muttered something incoherently under his breath. "I said," he emphasized. "That imprinting is what happens when a wolf meets their soul mate. It means that one day you and Embry will get married, and that Bella will be the only girl you will ever love and want to be with, Embry. But Bella, you have a choice in the matter. You can accept the imprint and be with Embry, or reject it and move on with your life."
I glanced at Embry's face and he looked panic stricken at the thought of me leaving him. I rubbed the palm of his hand gently and kissed his cheek. "I choose you every time," I promised him. He lovingly kissed the side of my head.
"Okay," Paul interjected loudly. I'd forgotten he was even there. "If you two lovebirds are done, can we move on with the explanations, please?"
"As much as I hate to admit it, Paul's right. Now Embry, having grown up here, knows all the tribal legends. Bella however, we have some explaining to do about what you just saw."
"I know all the legends already," I said. "Jacob told me when I first moved here, he didn't mean to break any treaty or anything. He was just telling me stories, but he told me what Edward was, and what you all are. I just never put it together."
"I shouldn't have if it would've kept you away from him," Jake scowled in Embry's direction.
"Enough Jacob," Sam said in a tone that seemed to allow no argument. Jacob shrank back in his chair and fell silent.
Sam's expression changed back to calm. "That's good then, you know everything. I assume you obviously know everyone here except Paul and Jared?"
The aforementioned boys both raised their hands in friendly waves and I smiled; "Now I know everyone."
Sam chuckled. "Good. But before we all settle down do any of you have any questions?" he was looking at Quil, Em, and I. Quil raised his hand timidly and Sam motioned at him as if to say 'speak.'
"Not to be a buzz kill or anything, I know Bell and Em can live happy ever after now and we all know you aren't apart of a phsyco motorcycle gang or whatever and that's wonderful. But… nobody knows who Em's father is. His mom came down from Makah when she was pregnant with him and never revealed the name of his father. And in the legends it says all the wolves are descendants from the very first pack. And if I remember right the only three in that pack were Quil Ateara III, Ephraim Black, and Levi Uley. The only three known living descendants of them are Billy, Joshua Uley, or my dad; so one of them has to be Embry's father."
We all sat there in shock. I wouldn't know if he was right, but it seemed all the boys did. Jacob, Sam and Quil sat staring blankly into space. I knew they were all wondering if Embry was their half-brother.
I chanced a glance at Embry's face. He looked like he might split into two by the look on it. He was the first to break the silence.
"I can't believe my mom never told me," he whispered. "All the times she refused to talk about my dad I thought… she was just afraid to open old wounds, afraid that I'd go on a search once I found out who he was. I understood… I didn't push. I just never thought that the reason would be because she would know I already knew every candidate but Joshua."
"We always said we were brothers from another mother," Quil said matter-of-factly.
"You and I always had each other's backs like brothers," said Jake.
"And now it might be true," stated Embry, sounding numb.
"Sam," Embry sounded hopeless. "What do we do? We have to find out the truth. But how? I have no idea where my birth certificate is and it's not like we can ask Billy, Joy or Old Quil if they knew anything about it."
"We have to confront your mom about it," Sam stated simply. "It's the only way. And with all of us sitting here, she's going to have to explain."
The front door opened. "Embry, sweetie? Are you home? Is Bella with you?"
Embry was sitting there in shock. I nudged him lightly. "In the family room, mom," he called in a strangled voice.
His mother rounded the corner. "Are you alright, honey? You sound worried." She stopped dead when she saw all of us sitting there and staring at her.
"Oh no," she whispered. "The legends… they're true?" she asked, her face losing color.
We all nodded and Embry stood up and put his hands on his mother's shoulders. "Mom," he said softly. "Mom I need to know. You can't keep it from me any longer. Who is my dad?"
She took a deep breath. "Joshua Uley," she whispered. "He was right, he told me he was afraid it would only skip his generation."
Sam stood up too. "Wait," he said. "What do you mean he was right?"
A/N: I always thought it was unfair to Embry that he didn't know who his father was. Although in the Illustrated Guide his name is on the Uley family tree it just wasn't clear to a lot of people, so I decided to clear that up for everyone who was wondering and so that his mom could be in on the secret. Who's looking forward to an explanation from Mrs. Call? Review and I'll update soon! I love you guys!
Thanks for Reading!
