A/N: Hi everyone! So it seems that you all like that I'm keeping a schedule, and I'm trying my best to sustain it to keep you guys happy. I'm glad you guys liked the last chapter. Of course Tiffany cares enough to tell Embry, but she was worried about something and you'll find out what it is in this chapter! Enjoy!

Disclaimer: I unfortunately don't own Twilight. It's Stephanie's world and all the credit goes to her.

Embry POV: We all sat and stared at my mother as she sat on our couch, pale and barely breathing trying to form an explanation for us all. Bella could see that I was agitated, so she gave my hand a reassuring squeeze and flashed me her gorgeous smile. I somehow managed to return it.

Finally my mom took a deep breath and said, "Okay. I'll tell you everything I know. But please, no judgments, comments, or questions until you know the whole story."

We all nodded our consent, and mom flashed me one last apologetic look. I kept my face blank as I stared at her.

She sighed. "Well, I guess I'd better start at the beginning. It may take a while so I suggest you all settle in and get comfortable." There was a brief pause while some people slouched a little more into their seats.

"Alright," mom continued. "Joshua had come down to the Makah reservation on business about seventeen years ago. The moment he met me I was smitten. Every moment he wasn't working we spent together the week he was there. When it was over… he promised me he'd come back. And he did, the next month. Each time he came back we grew closer and closer, we had fallen in love," she paused briefly to wipe a tear from her cheek. "Or at least that's what I thought at the time. But after about six months together I got pregnant with Embry. We were both so happy."

My mom looked at me helplessly and said, "He promised he'd be here for you. But the next month he never came back. When I went to meet him at the entrance of the reservation, all I found was a note that said he left because he was afraid the legends would attack our little boy, like they would his other son. At the time I didn't know what he meant. I had no idea he was already married to Allison when we were together. Obviously I was heartbroken he'd left me without so much as a goodbye, so I decided to move to the Quileute reservation. I felt it was the best place to raise Embry, where his father had grown up. I wanted him to have that culture in his life," she sighed sadly. "And I suppose there was a part of me that had always hoped Joshua would come back… be a father to Embry, explain everything. But he never did. There are days I still wish he would," she sighed again. "I met Allison Uley the first week I came here. She told me she had received the exact same note from Joshua, except in the letter she had gotten, he said the Cold Ones would come, that boys would phase, and that there was going to be some kind of war. I always hoped he was wrong, but I can see now that it couldn't be more true."

Mom got up and knelt down in front of me, taking my free hand. "Sweetheart," she whispered. "You don't know how sorry I am. I always wanted to tell you, but I could never find the right words, because I knew you would ask why he left, why he chose not to even see you come into the world. I didn't have an answer. I couldn't explain the truth of the legends to you then. I can see I should have."

When I didn't answer she continued in a stronger voice. "But I can tell you one thing. Your father did love you very much," she turned to Sam. "Both of you."

Sam's expression was angry, but he was clearly controlling it. "He didn't love my mother, though. If he cheated on her."

My mom shook her head. "I told Allison that I never knew he was married when we were together. She wasn't sad, said that their marriage was at an all-time low then. They had been thinking about filing for divorce, even though that's highly unusual with the tribe. She had told me she expected that's where he'd been off to, and she made me feel better about my guilt. But that doesn't mean that it's any less than it was. He did love you and your mother, Sam. And had I known about you both when I met him, I would have helped him make it work between him and your mother."

His expression softened. "I know you would have. And if my mother is alright with all this, then I am too. And besides, for now we need to focus on the legends and the implications you told us about. You said there would be war?"

My mother seemed to settle into a diplomatic version of herself then. "That's what he told us. Alisson said it must have been your great-grandfather Levi that told him that long ago. However, he didn't say how a war would come about, or with whom it would lie."

Sam gave a hard nod and motioned to Paul, Jared, and Jacob. "Maybe we can get my mother and Billy on the phone, and we can discuss this in the kitchen. Let's leave Embry, Quil, and Bella to process everything."

"Of course," mom said. She walked over to kiss my head gently before entering the kitchen. Sam, Paul, and Jared followed. Jake was the last to leave. He just stood for a moment, watching Bella and I with a mixture of hatred and envy upon his face. Before I could open my mouth to tell him off he turned around and sulked to the kitchen.

"Well," Quil said. "At least now we know the truth about everything. But… do you guys feel insanely hungry?"

Both Bella and I chuckled. "You're always insanely hungry, bro," I laughed. My eyes turned to Bella. She was radiant, more so than ever. I didn't think that was possible. Wolfy stuff be darned. I was going to focus on our relationship, the one that would last forever.

A/N: How do you guys like it? Was that what you expected? And please, no hate for Tiffany. Allison and her are actually friends because of what happened with Joshua so don't hate her. Review and I'll update tomorrow or Monday! I love you guys!

Thanks for Reading!
