Zeke gently laid Iona down off to the side of the midpoint of the stairs up to the theater. According to this plan of Rex's, he was supposed to distract his friends long enough for him to finish up back there. He was not sure what was going on, but he was the Aegis' driver. There was more to that kid than met the eye.

"My prince! They're here!" Zeke looked up and smirked. Time to put on a show.

Zeke stood with a flourish and walked up to meet the bunch. Despite his antics, Zeke von Genbu was a seasoned swordsman, and he immediately picked the veteran fighter out of the crowd. The big guy would be one to watch.

"Stop right there," Zeke strode confidently toward his targets.

"Who's this bloke?" Vandham stood ready for a fight.

"Beats me, I've never seen him," Nia glared at the flamboyant man.

"I am the bringer of chaos," Zeke dramatically lowered his hand down in front of his face, "You may call me the Zekinator."

"Yeah, sure, Shellhead. Now hand over the girl and tell us what's your connection to Torna."

Zeke put his hands on his hips and let out a deep laugh as Pandoria emulated his movements, "Wouldn't you like to know?"

"Eh," Nia crossed her arms, "Either tell us, or get out of our way."

"Listen here, furry ears, you want the girl? Then show me what you got!" To accentuate the point, he drew his sword, "Understand?"

"Ugh," Vandham groaned, "Let's just hurry up and get this over with."

Zeke grinned and readied himself. They would underestimate him. Almost everyone did. Oh well, their loss. He was not here to really fight them anyway. He just had to stall them, and he was very good at wasting time.

Despite it being a three on one fight, Zeke held himself extremely well with not a single blow of the first volley getting past his defenses. That was enough to immediately get Vandham's attention. For all his showboating, he was at least somewhat competent. Though, even the mercenary did not realize exactly how competent.

Zeke did make sure to keep up a good show, and he had to admit that he was kind of enjoying himself. He went out a bit more than he had been planning to before the plan to make sure they were preoccupied, and he was doing a good job of it too.

At least, he was until a bright flash from the theater got their attention. That seemed to alter their priorities away from Zeke. As much as he tried to keep their attention, the nopon and Gormotti girl were able to give the big guy a chance to escape toward the theater. Well, Rex was not going to be happy about that.

Nia tapped her foot against the floor of the inn staring at Zeke all the while. It was just her and him since Tora was off performing maintenance on Poppi and Dromarch and Pandoria were off somewhere. She still did not trust him, or his story about Rex having put him up to that. Pyra had no idea about it, and, well, Rex was still out cold. If it were true though, he would have some explaining to do.

Then again, he would have to wake up for that. He had been out for almost a day by now, and Pyra was staying tight lipped about what happened up there. As it stood, they had no idea what happed or what that light was. It really left Nia wondering about who she had fallen in with here. It seemed she had a knack for falling into some strange company.

Just what was going on here, and why did she feel like she was in the dark about something very important?

Pyra looked at flame on her fingers then back to Rex lying unconscious on the bed. The redhead sighed looking back to the flame. Such a weak, measly flicker. Pyra was still reeling from Rex coming to Mythra for help. Not that she blamed him. He was right to do so. Even with Mythra's power things had not gone to plan. What could she possibly hope to do to help?

She could not help the feelings of worthlessness and self-loathing as she sat there thinking. What good was she other than chauffeuring Mythra around and dealing with people she did not want to? Was that all she was good for? Was there no other way for her to help Rex in his goals? Was she really so pathetic like Malos had said?

Er, Pyra?

Mythra found herself cut off though by a stirring from the other end of the room – Pyra had been sitting by his bedside but at the urge to take his hand, she took a seat further away. Standing to her feet, Pyra was quickly back by his side.

Rex awoke with a start. He jolted upright as he looked about the room only to realize that the golden light was not there. He had had that dream again. The same one from back in Gormott. It seemed slightly clearer, but he still could not piece together what the mad voice was saying as it rapidly faded back into the recesses of his mind. Yet it somehow still sent chills down his spine.

It took him a moment to realize that he was back at the inn, and only a moment longer to notice Pyra's presence. Then he remembered what happened. He had failed. Rex clenched his fists in frustration.

"Rex…" Pyra hesitantly reached for one of his clenched fists, but she stopped short.

"Pyra," Rex smiled at her. Seeing her did wonders for him, "Don't worry, I'm fine."

"Good…" Pyra smiled, but it did not last long as a quick flash of light engulfed her leaving a glaring Mythra in her place.

"Now that that's out of the way, care to tell me what on Alrest that was?" Mythra had her arms folded and tried to look only mildly miffed, but in reality, she was shaken. After all, Rex had somehow seemingly accessed Siren. She could only imagine it was because he had part of their core crystal, but still, he was a human.

"Oh, that," Rex scratched the back of his head as he shuffled to sit on the side of the bed. After becoming a true master driver and fighting with their combined state, their actions became rather in sync. To the point that Rex had started to be able to somewhat call on Siren. Not enough to control it effectively and he still needed them around, but he was able to…guide it sort of. Apparently, he could activate it too.

"Yeah, that."

"It's…complicated," Could he tell them about that?

"I have time," Mythra huffed.

"You're right," Rex stood up with a newfound determination, "It's time I told both of you what happened in detail. We gotta work together after all. It…may take a while though."

A/N: Apologies for how long these take, but I do try to get something done on it most days.
