A/N: I'm back! See, I told you I wouldn't forget this time! And besides, I didn't want you guys to hang in suspense for too long over what happens to Bella! And by the way guys, please keep voting on the poll! I need a few more before I close it and start the story later today before I go back to school tomorrow! So please vote and enjoy!

Bella POV: I woke up to a soft thud and wind blowing in from outside. That was funny. The window hadn't been open when I went to bed. Embry wasn't in here either, he never came in here at night. Not like Edward.

The realization dawned on me then, and an oddly sweet scent was wafting in my room. Familiar, but it was one I hadn't inhaled in months. Slowly, I turned away from the window and saw in my rocking chair, the one person I was still afraid to see after all these months. Edward Cullen.

I staggered backward. "E-Edward!" I gasped, a hand going to chest. "What are you doing here?"

"My dear Bella," he sighed, his voice was silky but poisonous to me at the same time. "I have missed you my love," he got up to me and walked over with his arms outstretched.

"No," I said firmly, taking him by surprise. "Edward seriously. Why are you here?"

"I came to apologize to you love," he said, as though it were obvious. "These past few months… honestly, I've felt like my soul had been ripped in two. It was stuck here. I thought of you every moment, remembering your face, and voice, your beautiful laugh. The family wasn't the same without you, none of us were. Bella, I still love you. Please forgive me for everything. Take me back… please."

The look in his eyes may have broken my heart once, it would have made me swoon and take him back, forgetting every awful thing he did. Now, I was different though. I was strong now, not weak willed. He wasn't allowed to come back here and push me around anymore or take me away from the people I love. I wasn't about to let him manipulate me again.

"Edward," I began, my voice calm and collected. "I missed you too in the beginning. I felt like I had no purpose left without you, and I spent all my energy holding on to you. It wasn't healthy for me at all, and it scared Charlie to death when I woke up in the middle of the night screaming because I thought I'd been left alone again," I saw him visibly flinch and a rush of pride swept through me. "But then Jacob helped me, and made me better. He taught me that no matter how bleak things seemed I'd always have a friend. But he left me too, and I'm sure you know as well as I what he became."

He growled and muttered something brief but I didn't press him for it, knowing it was some kind of insult. "Then I met Embry, and everything was completely better. I started to breathe right again, but I felt a million times better with him than I ever did with you, because he never said something simple was too dangerous or risky. He lets me enjoy my life, he treats me like an equal, and doesn't put me on a pedestal like you did. I love him Edward, and I'm sorry but there isn't anything you can do to change that."

"You're leaving me for a dog?!" he whisper-shouted, outraged. "He could kill you, Bella! You don't know how dangerous they are!"

"Actually I do," I contradicted. "It's right along the lines of draining me of my blood. And besides, you don't get to decide what is and isn't dangerous for me. Only I can make that decision for myself. So I'd appreciate it if you left before Embry finds out you're here."

Edward's face twisted into the crooked smile I once loved, but it looked different now; feral, and dangerous. "Oh, he already does," Edward replied sinisterly. "Did you tell him that you wanted to be like me before, my sweet Bella? Or did you lie and tell him you hate me?"

"I do hate you," I spat at him. "And I'm relieved that I never became like you. Otherwise, I would have regretted it for all eternity, because look at you now. So just get out of here and leave me to my life, like you wanted."

"I can't do that," he said walking towards me slowly. "You see, you don't have a choice between him or myself, Bella. It's either me, or nobody else. I can bite you, and you may come quietly with me now so we can spend forever together, like you always wanted. Or I can simply drink all your blood and leave you dead for your precious dog to find. I don't mind either option, so you may choose either one of the latter."

"I would rather die than spend forever with a sadistic, evil bloodsucker like you!"

"Very well then," he looked pleased. "Just remember Bella, I always did love you, and still do. This was just the only way to make you see that in the end. Do you have any last words for me before I begin?"

Swallowing the lump in my throat I whispered brokenly, "Embry, I love you. Remember that."

Edward's face contorted in anger for a moment before composing himself into a rather creepy grin. "Very well. Goodbye Bella," he whispered before stepping forward.

"Not on watch you filthy leech!" I heard a familiar voice roar as it charged forward and knocked Edward off his feet.

My heart skipped a beat as I realized who it was that had come to save me. "Embry," I breathed, relief flooding me instantly.

"Bella go," he grunted as he tried to hold Edward down. "Run. Jump out your window. Quil's waiting to catch you on the bottom, I'll hold him off."

My eyes filled with tears as I realized that Embry may not make it away from him alive. "Em," I whispered, choked up.

"Bella, just jump!" he screamed at me. Edward was struggling more and more now.

Without thinking, I turned and flung myself from the window, preparing myself for the impact of the ground just in case Quil missed me.

Sure enough though, I felt a warm pair of muscular arms encircle me just when I thought I was about to hit the floor. "It's okay Bella," Quil whispered to me as my body racked with sobs. "Shh, sweetheart I promise it will all be okay. We'll take care of him."

"No, it's not that," I hiccupped. "E-Embry! H-he might not m-make it out and it will be all my f-fault!"

"Bella," Quil sounded surprised. "This isn't your fault at all! And Embry's strong, he's going to make it out. The leech won't even leave a scratch on him."

For Embry's sake and for the sake of my mental sanity, I hoped he was right.
