Hello and welcome to another chapter of Of Litches and Demons. Sorry for the late update. Real life has been a drag lately. If you haven't seen my lastest update for Master of Uzushio, my father passed away in January. There are certain matters involving his passing that I have to take care of, so my updates may be slower than normal. Anyway, this chapter will have a look into Setsuna's NPC's as well as their rolls and the first attack on Crane Village. Now, let's get to it.
As usual, I own nothing.
The Crescent Moon Palace. The private lair of Aniz Ooal Gown's Setsuna Inu Taisho. Within this domain lies Setsuna's very own NPC's. As a birthday present to Setsuna, her fellow guild members helped design and create her lair and NPC's.
While Setsuna and Ophis were meeting with Momonga and the guardians, the infinite dragon sent word to the inhabitants of the palace to gather in the Great Hall for a meeting with their mistress. To their shame, certain residents couldn't attend due to their duty to protect the palace.
The Great Hall looked like a typical throne room. It was wide and spacious. *Picture the White Fang HQ's Throne Room from RWBY* Inside the Great Hall were a number of people. Some human-like while others weren't.
Just like Momonga's guardians, Setsuna's guardians had their own duties and responsibilities. An example being that Ophis was the Crescent Moon Palaces overseer.
One of the palaces denizens is a beautiful woman with long straight light purple hair and three golden eyes. She has two of her eyes in normal humanoid positions while her last one is on her forehead. The woman is clad in a grey dress. Her dress turns out at the bottom, has a line of light-grey fur at the top and exposes her collarbone and arms.
On her right arm, she wears an evening glove which almost comes up to her elbow and on her left arm, one that goes over her elbow with both gloves exposing her fingers. Both have the same fur at the top as the dress.
On her right wrist, she wears two golden bracelets while on her left she wears a large cylindrical silver-metal armband. On her right upper-arm she wears a thick metal ring which has a chain attached to it. The other side of the chain attached to her armband, with the length of the chain wrapped around her body. On her hip, the woman wears a belt made from gold oval segments. On her waist, she wears another belt. This one being black with golden circles inscribed in it. On her neck, she wears a black cloth which has a cross-shaped pattern at the centre of her neck and has a gold necklace attached to the bottom.
On her ears, she wears large circular earrings. She also wears black high-heel shoes.
This woman is Bel Peol. The Judge of Paradoxes. She is the leader of the Trinity. Setsuna's elite guards.
"So, Setsuna-sama has chosen to continue living among us." Bel says. "That's good. She seemed so upset when she said she was leaving."
"And it's not just Setsuna-sama who stayed." A male voice says.
Bel Peol turns to see a man who appears to be in his twenties. Oddly enough, he looks like a priest. He has purple hair in a pretty odd bowl cut look. You couldn't tell what color his eyes are because they appear to be closed. In his right hand is a staff with a red jewel.
This man is Xellos. The "Mysterious Priest".
"From my understanding, one of Setsuna-sama's comrades decided to stay as well." Xellos says with a smile.
"And how do you know this?" Bel asks with a raised eyebrow.
"Oh my dear Bel Peol." Xellos says. He then raises a finger to his lips. "That is a secret."
Bel rolls all three of her eyes. "Of course it is."
"My guess is that he's been in contact with Ophis." A female voice says.
Bel Peol and Xellos look to their right to see a tall attractive mature woman with violet eyes and long silky black hair down to her hips. She has slender body with a large bust and possessed two black feathered wings. Her clothing looks like something out of a S&M movie.
This woman is Raynare. Leader of the Fallen Angel Faction of the Crescent Moon Palace. The Fallen Angel Faction is tasked with intelligence gathering.
"Remember, Xellos here is pretty chummy with Ophis." Raynare says as she folds her arms. Her bust jiggling at the action.
"How is it that you two are so friendly with one another?" Bel asked. "You're nothing alike."
"That too, is a secret." Xellos says.
Bel and Raynare growl at the priest.
Another denizen watches the banter between the three with an amused expression.
Said denizen is a young woman with long light green hair and gold eyes. One thing to mention is that she has white horns on both sides of her head. The woman wears a green kimono and has a fan held to her face.
This woman is Kiyohime. A member of the Monster Faction.
"You two should know by now that you'll never get a straight answer from Xellos." Kiyohime says with a giggle.
Raynare let's out a "tsk" as she looks away while Bel simply shakes her head.
The last one present was a voluptuous young woman with long ashy-pink hair and gold eyes. She wears a white suit jacket that is strategically a few sizes too small, a matching skirt that isn't and a pink scarf. She also wears glasses and fox-head shaped earrings.
This woman goes by the name Koyanskaya. She is the secretary of the Crescent Moon Palace.
Currently, Koyanskaya was looking through a few papers as she tried to block out all the noise around her. That changes as she feels two presences have just entered the palace and are on their way to the Great Hall. The other denizens also noticed the new arrivals as well.
"She's here." Koyanskaya says as she and the others turn to the door.
The door then opens. Revealing Setsuna and Ophis. Setsuna peers at the NPC's present. Already, she notices that not everyone is present. Setsuna knows however, that most of her NPC's couldn't be pulled away thanks to their duties.
"My friends." Setsuna says. "We have much to discuss."
"Setsuna-sama." The NPC's greet with a bow.
Setsuna makes her way to her throne. As she sits down, Ophis takes her place next to Setsuna's throne. Much like Albedo does for Momonga.
"I notice that not everyone is present." Setsuna says.
"Shall I fetch the others?" Ophis asked.
"No. It's fine." Setsuna says. "They all have their jobs. Besides, whatever is said here can be relayed."
"Even so, you commanded-" Ophis says.
"I said it's fine, Ophis." Setsuna says sternly.
"As you wish mistress." Ophis says with a submissive bow.
"Setsuna-sama." Bel says. "We've heard word that one of your fellow Supreme Beings has chosen to remain with us as well. Is that true?"
"Indeed." Setsuna says. "My most trusted comrade, Momonga. We were meeting with him and the guardians of Nazarick about our current situation." Setsuna looks towards Ophis. "Ophis, relay what was said during the meeting."
"As you command mistress." Ophis says.
And so, Ophis told the others about the situation in Nazarick. Setsuna had told her loyal NPC's that Momonga will have the Crescent Moon Palace's full support. Raynare and her team were selected to assist the guardians in gathering information on this new world. Setsuna had also told Koyanskaya to relay her orders to the other NPC's. After which, Setsuna had asked her guardians their opinions of their mistress. And wasn't surprised that they had answered similar to the guardians of Nazarick.
After everything that had happened, Setsuna was ready to turn in for the day. And what better way to relax then with a nice long bath. Luckily, the Crescent Moon Palace had a built-in hot spring. Which is where Setsuna currently is.
"Hah. I'm exhausted." Setsuna says with a sigh. She then smiles as she relaxes in the water. "It's been a while since I've had a bath like this. Though..." Setsuna looks down at her chest. Her face then begins to heat up. And not from the water. "What was I thinking? Giving my avatar huge breast like these. I must've felt inadequate. I mean, IRL I was barely a B cup."
Setsuna looks to the sky. She then begins to think about the day she first met Momonga and the others.
When she started playing YGGDRASIL, Setsuna didn't have any friends. When she tried joining other parties, she was either refused or taken advantage of. She was even attacked by other players from time to time. Taking whatever items she managed to get.
It wasn't until one day, she overheard talk about a boss that spawns a powerful item once defeated. Seeing it as her chance, Setsuna tried to take the boss on herself. Things didn't go as planned as the boss was more powerful than Setsuna had originally thought.
It was then that Setsuna had met the guild of Aniz Ooal Gown. The guild had been planning to take on the boss themselves. Only to find a player they had never seen before was already there. Seeing how low Setsuna's health was, the guild had offered to take the boss on in Sestuna's place. Only for Setsuna to snap and tell the guild that she'd finish the boss off herself.
Defying all odds, Setsuna managed to defeat the boss and get the item she wanted. Unknown to her at the time, Momonga had cast several buffs on Sestuna to ensure her victory. The guild master was impressed by Setsuna's drive and was offered a spot in their guild. Setsuna accepted and with the guilds help, became who she is today.
Coming back from her reminiscing, Setsuna couldn't help but think about her other comrades.
"I wonder. Did any of them make it to this world too?" Setsuna thinks.
Setsuna is taken out of her thoughts as she feels a pair of arms around her neck. ...And two large mounds pressed into her back.
"Taking a bath without me?" A seductive female voice asked.
"...Kuroka." Setsuna says after taking a moment to hide her surprise.
Setsuna turns her head to see a beautiful young woman smiling seductively at her. She has a voluptuous figure, long black hair with split bangs and hazel-gold eyes with cat-like pupils. She also has a pair of black cat ears and two black tails.
This woman is Kuroka Tojou. The Black Cat. A member of the Monster Faction.
Another thing to note about Kuroka was that she was completely naked.
"Setsuna-sama." Kuroka says lovingly.
"Surely the others have told you that I was in the middle of bathing?" Setsuna asked with a raised eyebrow.
"Yes." Kuroka says. "Words cannot describe how sorry I am for not responding to your summons nya. So, I took it upon myself to wash your back. In the hopes of making up for my inexcusable actions nya."
Setsuna stares at Kuroka for a moment before turning back to face the spring. "...Do as you like."
Kuroka beams at her mistresses words. She then bows. "Thank you mistress."
Kuroka grabs a sponge, lathers it with soapy water and proceeds to wash her mistressess back.
"Am I doing well, Setsuna-sama?" Kuroka asked.
"Hmm. Yes. This one is pleased." Setsuna says with a small smile.
"I am happy that I am pleasing you." Kuroka says with a blush.
Setsuna closes her eyes as Kuroka continues to wash her back. "Kuroka Tojou. A Nekomata whose hexes and curses are second to none. She's also a beautiful seductress who will only mate with someone who will give her strong children." Setsuna opens one eye and glances at Kuroka. After seeing her happy expression, Setsuna closes her eye as she enjoys her bath. "And yet she seems stuck on me."
Setsuna's eyes snap open as she feels Kuroka's hands suddenly move to her breasts. The dog demoness looks at the black cat with a deadpanned expression as said cat continues to fondle her mistresses breasts.
"Kuroka? What exactly are you doing?" Setsuna asked as her face heats up.
"Nya. Setsuna-sama, I am simply going beyond my duty." Kuroka says. She then firmly grasp Setsuna's breast. Causing her mistress to let out a involuntarily moan. Much to the dog demoness' embarrassment and the black cat's joy. "Mistress, you're so sensitive here."
Kuroka continues to grope her mistress who is having a hard time trying not to moan. Unknown to Sestuna however, her eyes flash red for a second as a urge begins to take her.
"What's...wrong...with me?" Setsuna thinks as she breathes heavily. "I...feel..."
Before Kuroka can take things a step further, she is suddenly blasted by a fireball.
"NYA!" Kuroka screams as she falls into the spring.
Setsuna takes a few deep breaths as she looks behind her. Revealing Kiyohime in a bath towel with her hand outstretched.
"Cool off, you temptress." Kiyohime says with narrowed eyes.
Bubbles begin to form in the water as Kuroka emerges from the spring covered in a violet aura. Her expression? Murderous.
"You she-viper!" Kuroka snarls out. She then begins to stalk towards Kiyohime.
"Hmph." Kiyohime scoffs. "You've no one to blame but yourself. Clearly, you didn't notice that Setsuna-sama was feeling uncomfortable."
"Please. She was enjoying my touch." Kuroka says as her aura vanishes. "In fact, she was just about to-"
"Hold your tongue!" Kiyohime interrupts.
The two NPC's start arguing with one another. Kuroka, shamelessly talking about all the things she would've done to pleasure her mistress. While Kiyohime was fighting off a blush as she tried to argue that their mistress wasn't a toy.
As for Setsuna herself, she was currently dumping cold water on herself as her nature as a dog demon began to calm her down.
"That was too close!" Setsuna thinks. "My instincts were screaming at me to "claim" Kuroka. I'm starting to regret Peroroncino-sans imput on design her."
Meanwhile, back at Nazarick. A certain vampire was relaxing in her chamber vefore she suddenly stiffens. She then narrows her eyes.
"Why do I suddenly feel a mix of rage and envy all of a sudden?" Shalltear asked.
Three days have passed since Setsuna and Momonga were brought to this new world. During that time, Setsuna has discovered a few things about her new body.
Thanks to her spar with Ophis, Setsuna now knew that she possess all the powers of her avatar. Another thing was that while Setsuna still required food and sleep, she found that she could continue without those necessities for some time and still function in top condition. Also, like Momonga, Setsuna's emotions are suppressed. Any time she DOES get emotional, Setsuna's nature as a dog demon calms her down. However, when she's exposed to...sexual advances, her instincts begin to take hold. Compelling the dog demoness to mate. These impulses also seem to get stronger during a full moon. And some of the female NPC's under Setsuna weren't helping with that particular matter.
Another thing that happened was that Setsuna had brought Momonga and the guardians to the Crescent Moon Palace. There, they were taken in by the palaces beauty. Momonga and the others even met the other denizens of Setsuna's domain. Some of the NPC's took a liking to one another. Though, Shalltear had problems with a few members of the palace. Namely, the ones who had feelings for her mistress. Shalltear had made it a habit of visiting the palace regularly. Some times even sleeping over.
Currently, the dog demoness was going over the palaces inventory with Koyanskaya.
"This one appreciates your help, Koyanskaya." Setsuna says as she checks the weaponry.
"I am humbled by your praise, mistress." Koyanskaya says with a bow. "But I am only doing what I was designed to do. Maintaining effective records of our current inventory is part of my job."
Setsuna hums in acknowledgement. She is then taken from her thoughts when she hears a tone. Momonga was trying to reach her via Message spell. Setsuna then puts two fingers to her ear.
{Yes, Momonga? What is it?} Sestuna asked.
{I've gotten the Mirror of Remote Viewing working.} Momonga replies.
{Excellent. Have there been any new developments?} Setsuna asked.
{...Yes.} Momonga replies after a pause. {A human village is being attacked. I'm going to go there and stop it.}
Sestuna narrows her eyes. {Any reason why you are involving yourself in this?}
{Do you remember Touch Me-sans motto?} Momonga asked.
Setsuna then recalls her fellow guild members motto. One that always inspired her. "Because, saving a person in trouble is always the right thing to do!"
Setsuna closes her eyes as she chuckles at the memory. She then reopens her eyes as she continues her conversation with her friend.
{Of course. How could I forget?} Setsuna says in mirth.
{This would also be a chance to test ourselves in this new world.} Momonga says. {Albedo's coming as well.}
{I see.} Setsuna says. {Send me the coordinates. I'll be there shortly.}
Momonga hums in acknowledgment. {Right. Thanks.} Momonga then cuts off the spell.
"Is something the matter, mistress?" Koyanskaya asked.
Setsuna turns to her secretary. "Momonga has requested my aid in a afair. I'll be leaving the palace for a bit."
Koyanskaya narrows her eyes. "Setsuna-sama, I must insist that you bring somepone to accompany you. Even if you and Momonga-sama are Supreme Beings, if something were to happen to you..."
"Your concerns are noted." Setsuna replies calmly. "Do not worry, Albedo will be accompanying us. Though, it never hurts to have a back up."
Koyanskaya sighs in relief. "Understood. I shall inform Ophis of your outing."
"See that you do." Setsuna says. She then equips her armor, fur and swords. "Tell her to raise the threat level of the palace to maximum. And have Griffon ready to be on the lookout for possible attacks."
Koyanskaya bows. "Yes, my mistress."
Setsuna then makes her way to met up with her bodyguard for this mission. "For you, Touch Me-san."
Just before Setsuna can open the door, a Gate suddenly appears behind her. Assuming that the new arrival is an intruder, Koyanskaya moves in between the portal and her mistress. As the figure steps out of the portal, Koyanskaya relaxes while Setsuna raises an eyebrow.
"Well, this is unexpected." Setsuna says.
Carne Village. A simple town. The people there didn't have much to worry about. That was until a large group of knights appeared and start attacking their home. Even killing the villagers.
One pair that was able to get away were two sisters. Enri Emomot and her younger sister Nemu. The two had managed to get away from the village. At the cost of their parents lives. The two girls had ran as fast as they could, but were caught by a few knights at the outskirts of the village. Enri had taken a slash to her back to protect her little sister.
"Enri..." Nemu says in shock.
One of the knights raises his sword. Intent on finishing the girls off. Even so, Enri knew one thing.
"I have to save my little sister!" Enri thinks.
Enri cradles Nemu in her arms as she braces herself. ...For a blow that never came. Enri looks back at the knights to see that they are looking ahead of her. The girl turns to see a portal has appeared in front of her. The knights cautiously step back. And rightfully so, as a being that screams "Death" appeared before them. Momonga has arrived.
At the sight of the Elder Lich, Enri and Nemu couldn't help but quiver in fear. The undead skeleton then reaches out in a clenching gesture.
"Grasp Heart." Momonga says.
To everyone's shock and horror, a pulsating heart appears in the Lich's hand. Seeing what was about to happen, Enri quickly shielded her sisters eyes. Just in time for Momonga to crush the heart in his hand in an explosion of flesh and blood. It was then that one of the knights gurgled before he collapsed, dead.
Momonga examines the remains of the knights heart as it drips off his hand.
"That was a relief." Momonga thinks. "I was afraid that ninth tier spell wouldn't work on the humans of this world."
"M-m-monster!" A knight exclaims in fear.
"It's strange." Momonga thinks. "I felt nothing when I killed that knight. It seems as if I've stopped being human both physically and mentally."
The remaining knights point their weapons at the Elder Lich in defense.
"What kind of men can harm woman and children, but not have the guts to face me?" Momonga asked. The Lich then steps towards the knights. "Well, I'm here now. You'll help me test my power, whether you want to or not."
One of the knights loses his nerve, drops his weapons and runs away.
"Dragon Lightning!" Momonga says.
The Lich fires a bolt of lightning out of his fingertips. The attack electrifies the knight. The remaining knights look at their fallen comrade before looking back at Momonga.
"Pathetic." Momonga says. "That was only a mere fifth tier spell."
"R-run!" A knight exclaims in fear. The knight abandons his weapons and tries to flee. The remaining knights follow his example.
However, the knights didn't get very far as a white blur rushes out of the Gate. The blur passes the knights before coming to a stop. Revealing Setsuna with one of her swords drawn. The demoness sheaths her sword and with a clank, the heads of the remaining knights are severed from their bodies in a shower of blood. With their heads severed, the knights bodies collapse on the ground.
Setsuna looks at the fallen knights with disdain. "Pathetic cowards. At least face your deaths with some dignity."
"Glad you could make it, Setsuna-san." Momonga says. Setsuna simply nods. Momonga then glances at the two girls before turning his attention to one of the fallen knights. "Let's try making an Undead. "Death Knight."
At the lichs command, a shadowy mass appears and absorbs on of the knights. However, at both the lich and demoness' surprise, the once lifeless body twitches before standing up. The body then transforms into a large undead knight.
"That didn't happen back in Yggdrasil." Setsuna thinks.
Momonga gestures at one of the dead knights. "Death Knight, kill anyone in the village that looks like this."
With it's orders received, the Death Knight roars before making it's way to the village. ...Much to it's masters dismay.
"I need to think my orders through from now on." Momonga thinks. "What's the point in summoning a defensive monster if I'm just gonna send it away?"
Momonga is taken out of his musings as Albedo emerges from the portal, clad in her black armor and wielding her battleaxe.
"It took longer than expected to get here." Albedo says. "I'm sorry you had to wait."
"Don't apologize." Momonga says. "You arrived right on time Albedo."
"Thank you sir." Albedo says with a nod.
Before they can converse further, another figure emerges from the Gate. This person was a female of short stature and buxom figure wearing a white dress and a white sunhat. The woman also wears a mask and has long blond hair. Part of of her hair covers the right side of her mask. The Gate closes after the woman steps out.
"Apologies for the wait, Momonga-sama. Setsuna-sama." The woman says in a familiar voice.
"Shalltear?" Albedo asked. "What are you doing here?"
"That would be my doing Albedo." Setsuna says as she moves towards her comrades. "Shalltear was visiting me and learned of our mission. She then insisted on accompanying me." Setsuna turns her gaze to Momonga. "This won't be a problem, will it?"
"No. It's fine." Momonga replies.
"Just make sure you protect Setsuna-sama with your life, Shalltear." Albedo says sternly.
"Hmph. Of course." Shalltear says with a scoff. "Just who do you take me for?"
"You really want me to answer that?" Albedo asked with a deadpan.
Before Albedo and Shalltear can get into another fight, Setsuna clears her throat. She then gestures to the two young girls. "Perhaps we should get back to the task at hand."
"Quite right." Albedo says with a nod. "Now then, how would you like us to deal with this pathetic lower lifeforms?"
The two girls couldn't help but shiver in fear. Even Setsuna inwardly flinched at the coldness in Albedo's voice.
"These two are no threat." Momonga says. "The humans wearing the armor are the one's we are after."
"Understood." Albedo and Shalltear replies.
Momonga looks at Enri and sees the large gash on her back. Setsuna glances at Shalltear and gives her a look. Somehow knowing that the girls blood was exciting her. Momonga then takes out a vial of red liquid.
"It looks like you're bleeding." Momonga says. He then presents the vial. "Here, drink this."
Enri views the vials contents with concern. Who wouldn't? After all, it looks like blood! With slight hesitation, Enri reaches for the vial. Only for her little sister to pull her hand back.
"Don't do it Enri!" Nemu says.
"What the heck?" Momonga thinks incredulously. "I just saved their lives. Why don't they trust me?"
Naturally, the girls refusal to accept their lords gift didn't go well with Albedo and Shalltear.
"How dare you insult your savior?!" Albdeo says as she raises her axe. Shalltear growls as she flexes her claws.
The human girls whimper in fear. Setsuna then puts a hand on Shalltears shoulder. The disguised vampire looks at her mistress as she shakes her head. Reluctantly, Shalltear stands down.
"Albedo don't! Lower your weapon!" Momonga exclaims.
Albedo twirls her axe before lowering it. "As you wish my lord."
Setsuna moves to Momonga's side. Shalltear follows her mistress as Setsuna takes the vial from Momonga.
"Allow me." Setsuna says.
Momonga looks at his comrade for a moment before nodding. Setsuna then turns her gaze to the two human girls. Looking at her, neither Enri nor Nemu can help but notices how beautiful Setsuna is.
"Tell me child, do you know what magic is?" Setsuna asks.
"Y-yes." Enri says. "I have a friend who frequents our village. He's a pharmacist who practices magic."
Setsuna hums in thought as she files that piece of information away. "My friend and I are magic casters. This vial is a healing potion."
Now reassured, Enri takes the potion and drinks it. Almost instantly, the wound on her back closes up. Enri and her sister are astonished by the potions effect.
"I take it the pain is gone now?" Setsuna asks. Enri nods. "Good." Setsuna looks towards Momonga. "Now, I believe these two could use some protection."
"Right." Momonga says. The lich then raises his hand. Two magic circles appear as Momonga cast his spells. "Anti-Life Cocoon. Wall of Protection from Arrows."
To the two sisters awe, a large green dome appears around them.
"That should do it." Setsuna thinks. "Anti-Life Cocoon will prevent any living creatures from getting close. While Wall of Protection from Arrows will divert any low grade weaponry or attacks."
"I just casted two protection spells around you." Momonga says. "As long as you remain in this dome, you'll be safe. But just in case..." Momonga tosses two small horns into the dome. "If you blow the horns, an army of goblins will appear to do your bidding. Use them if you run into any trouble."
With their work done, the two Supreme Ones and their attendants turn towards the village.
"E-excuse me!" Enri says. At the sound of her voice, the two Supreme Ones turn their attention back to the two sisters. "Thank you so much for saving us! We are most grateful!"
"Thank you!" Nemu says as she and her sister bow to the Supreme Ones.
"Think nothing of it." Setsuna says.
"It was no problem." Momonga says.
"Please! May I have the names of the ones who saved me?" Enri asked.
"...My name?" Momonga says in thought. The lich glances at his staff. He then grips it in determination. Momonga then glances towards Setsuna. The demoness nods with a small smile. Somehow knowing what her friend is about to say. "You shall remember our names well! And tell everyone of us! I am Aniz Ooal Gown!"
Not wanting to be out done by her friends dramatic display, Setsuna dramatically whips her fur back while resting a hand on one of her swords. Her hair flows in the breeze as the wind blows.
"I am Setsuna Inu Taisho!" Setsuna exclaims. "Carve those names into your hearts! And let all who ask you know of us!"
"Beautiful." Shalltear thinks in awe. Thankfully, her mask prevented anyone from seeing her flushed face. She then rub her thighs though.
Meanwhile, back in Carne Village. Death Knight was doing jsut as ordered. Killing all of the knights. Said knights tried to fight back, but their weapons proved useless against the monster before them. As for the villagers themselves, while they were fearful of the monster knight, it seemed that it's only targets were the men in armor. Before the knights could plan their next move, Death Knight had already wiped out half of their numbers.
"Stop Death Knight!" A familiar voice orders. "You have served me well."
Death Knight ceases it's massacre at the voices command. The humans present then look to the skies.
Floating high above them are Albedo, Shalltear and the two Supreme Beings. Momonga, or as he now calls himself Aniz, had chosen to hide his identity as an undead. Choosing to wear a red mask and a pair of gauntlets. Setsuna had also chosen to hide her demonic traits as well. Thanks to a emerald bracelet known as Kyoka Suigetsu, Setsuna's eyes, ears, teeth and nails were normal and the markings on her face and wrists were hidden. The purple crescent moon on her forhead was still present though.
The group from Nazarick touches down and faces the remaining knights.
"My name is Aniz Ooal Gown." Aniz says. "It is a pleasure to meet all of you."
The knights whisper amongst themselves while still cautious of the Death Knight.
"Don't worry about my Death Knight. No harm will come to you now." Aniz says. "Tell your supervi- Owner, my kindness. However, next time you bring such heinous acts, I will bring death to your entire kingdom."
"Go to hell!" One of the more foolish knights exclaims before charging forward.
Faster than anyone could blink, Setsuna intercepts the knight and severs his head from his body with her sword. Setsuna then turns her gaze to the rest of the knights. Said knights flinch at Setsuna's gaze.
"Does that fool speak for the rest of you?" Setsuna says.
"W-who are you?!" A knight fearfully asked.
"Setsuna Inu Taisho." Setsuna says as she points her blade at the knights. "Now leave! And tell your masters of what occurred here!"
Not wanting to incur more of the disguised demoness' wrath (and wanting to stay alive), the knights throw down their weapons and flee.
Setsuna inwardly sighs as she sheaths her sword. "This is exactly why I didn't try out for drama club back in high-school. Acting is hard work."
Sometime later, the villagers are seen rebuilding their homes. ...And burying the dead. Aniz had decided to erase the memory of his and Setsuna's true forms from the two young girls minds. The villagers were wary of Setsuna and the others at first. But once they were told that the Supreme Ones expected to be compensated for their efforts, the villagers didn't ask anymore questions.
Money was one thing, but information is power. And not knowing much about this new world is dangerous. Luckily, the village chief and his wife believed the story about Setsuna and Aniz being hermits who studied magic but were cut off from the rest of the world. The Supreme Beings were then educated about Carne Village and the surrounding areas.
Unfortunately, the two Supreme Ones learned that Yggdrasil's currency was useless in this new world. While their gold was valuable, it would be dangerous to flash around.
The Supreme Ones learned that there are three territories in this new world. Nazarick and Carne Village are part of the Re-Estize Kingdom. On the opposite of Re-Estize is the Baharuth Empire. The two empires were on bad terms thanks to the constant attacks on the borders of E-Rantel. The last country, the Slane Theocracy sent bad vibes to Setsuna and Aniz. The village chief believes that the Baharuth Empire was responsible for the attack on the village based on the crest on the knights shields. However, both Supreme Beings believe that the Slane Theocracy staged the attack to maintain hostilities.
One other thing of importance were the Adventurers. Mercenaries who do jobs in exchange for money. These Adventurers frequent the capital of E-Rantel. Setsuna and Aniz came to an agreement that they would have to establish themselves in E-Rantel to get more information.
Later on, the villagers were paying respects to the lives lost in the attack. Setsuna and her group stood aside to let the villagers grieve. Seeing the villagers grief, Aniz was tempted to use his Wand of Resurrection to bring the dead back to life. But decided against it knowning that such an action would create more questions and problems. Aniz did see Setsuna griping one of her swords tightly.
One thing to know about Setsuna's blades was that one was for offense and the other was for defense. Her offensive blade is known as Bakusaiga. A blade that can decompose any organic material that it's blade cuts. Once cut, the target became "infected" with spontaneous destruction that disintegrated the main body and nullified any regenerative properties that the target may have had. In addition, the remaining destruction would continue to spread to any organic matter that came into physical contact with the original target. Causing a chain reaction similar to a virus.
Setsuna's other blade is known as Tenseiga. A blade than can create barriers and resurrect the dead. This sword was actually the weapon that Setsuna obtained when she first met the guild of Aniz Ooal Gown.
Looking at Setsuna, Aniz knew the dog demoness wanted to use Tenseiga's Resurrection ability. Especially when he looked to where Setsuna was staring at. Enri and Nemu, who were morning their parents. Though her face was as stoic as ever, Aniz knew what his friend was truly feeling.
The sun was setting in Carne Village as Aniz and his group walked around.
"Thanks to our good deed, the story of how Aniz Ooal Gown and Setsuna Inu Taisho saved Carne Village will spread along the countryside." Aniz thinks. "Our reputation should grow quickly. And if there are any players of Yggdrasil out there, they'll hear of us and seek us out."
"I'd say today's mission was a great success." Setsuna says.
"Indeed." Aniz says with a nod. "Thanks again for your help, Setsuna-san."
"Think nothing of it." Setsuna says. "This one will always assist you whenever you need it."
Aniz nods again in gratitude. He then turns to Albedo. "Let's head home Albedo."
"Right away my lord." Albedo says.
Setsuna turns her attention to Shalltear. "Will you be leaving as well?"
"At the very least, I must see your safe return to the palace mistress." Shalltear says.
Setsuna nods. "Very well. This one appreciates your assistance, Shalltear."
Again, Shalltear was grateful that her face was hidden behind a mask. Otherwise, her beloved mistress would see her blushing.
The group is taken out of their thoughts as a villager pasess by them with a large wooden plank. He waves at the group before continuing on his way. Even though Albedo and Shalltear's faces were hidden, Aniz and Setsuna could feel their disdain gazes.
"You seem to dislike humans." Aniz says.
"What's to like about them?" Albedo asked without remorse. "The are weak and pathetic. Just tiny insects to be crushed underfoot."
"For once, I agree." Shalltear says with a sneer. "Though, they do have some uses. They make the most amusing playthings."
Aniz and Setsuna take a moment to think about their guardians words.
"Listen to me. I want you to show them respect." Aniz says. "Act if you need to. But I demand that you treat the humans with kindness." Aniz turns his gaze to Shalltear. "Both of you."
Albedo seems to hesitate for a moment before nodding. Shalltear takes looks to Setsuna, who gives her a stern nod. She then looks back at her lord and bows.
"It's kind of hypocritical to asked them that when neither me or Aniz feel anything for the humans either." Setsuna thinks.
Aniz and Setsuna are taken out of their musings as they see the village chief talking with a concerned villager. Before they can join the conversation, Setsuna suddenly looks to the skies. Not too far from their position, is a bird the size of a hawk with a dark blue plumage. It's eyes have three golden pupils each, and his beak is unique in that it is several beaks in a mandible configuration.
This bird is actually a demon from the Crescent Moon Palace. One of the guardians who guard the gates. Griffon.
Griffon touches down and lands on Setsuna's shoulder.
"What is it?" Setsuna asked.
"A group of soldiers are coming in hot, boss." Griffon says. "They'll be here in a few minutes."
"You were watching the gates of this village." Albedo says with a edge. "Could you not have told us sooner?"
"Don't get your panties in a bunch lady." Griffon says. "Can ya blame a guy for wanting to catch some Z's? Especially when dealing with a slave driver like- ACK!"
Griffon is interrupted from his wisecracks as Setsuna smacks him off her shoulder. He then flies off back to the village gates.
"I don't understand why you put up with that annoying bird Setsuna-sama." Shalltear says.
"Despite his personality, Griffon can prove very dependable when the situation demands it." Setsuna says. "Now then, let's have a chat with the chief."
Just a Griffon said, there were soldiers approaching the village on horses. Aniz had told the chief to gather the villagers to his home. Once that was finished, the chief was to meet Aniz and Setsuna at the town square. As the soldiers get closer, Aniz and Setsuna take notice of the one leading them. A muscular man of around thirty years old. He appears to have a sunbathed dark face with noticeable wrinkles, short, trimmed, black hair and sharp black eyes.
The man stops in front of the group. "I am the Chief Warrior of the Re-Estize Kingdom. Gazef Stronof. The king has ordered me to hunt down the knights who have been attacking villages along the border."
"You know this man chief?" Setsuna asked.
"Thank you, General Gazef." The chief says.
"Y-yes." The chief says. "Even out here, the name Gazef Stronof is well known."
Gazef eyes Aniz and Setsuna warily. "Who are these two standing beside you?"
"No need to worry about that now." Aniz says before the chief could speak. "It is a pleasure to make your acquaintance General. My name is Aniz Ooal Gown." Aniz gestures to Setsuna. "My companion here is Setsuna Inu Taisho. We're simple magic users who stumbled upon this village while it was attacked by those knights."
Gazef slightly narrows his eyes in thought as he dismounts his horse.
"Then these people were lucky to have you." Gazef says. "Thank you, Aniz-dono. Setsuna-dono."
"General!" A soldier says. "We've spotted an army of unknown origin and they're surrounding the village as we speak."
Aniz and Setsuna turn towards each other before looking to the horizon. Looks like things aren't over in Carne Village just yet.
And done! Phew. Finally. Now, as I said earlier, real world stuff has been affecting me. Even so, I will try to get these updates out as fast as possible. Also, I've recently bought Persona 5 Strikers. Gotta say, it fits my style more than the original game. Anyway, next chapter we be the conclusion of the Battle at Carne Village.
