Chapter 8: Sixteen
"Are you ready Bingo?" Bluey said with a little laugh. "Ready," Bingo said almost with a squeal. "Okay on three, 1… 2… 3!" Bluey shouted as she and Bingo charged into their brother's room. "Happy birthday!" They both shouted while jumping around. Thomas jerked awake and saw his two sisters. "Thanks, guys," Thomas said with a yawn. "Time to get up!" Bingo said now jumping on her brother's bed. "Yeah sleepyhead," Bluey said as she opened the curtain. "Oh gee thanks," Thomas trying to hide his eyes from the sunlight. "Come on time to get up," Bluey said hitting her brother with a pillow. "You want to play that game huh?" Thomas with a chuckle as he grabbed a pillow. "What game?" Bingo asked. "Attack of the killer pillows!" Thomas shouted as he jumped up from his bed and started hitting both of his sisters with the pillow. They both screamed and ran into the kitchen and hid behind Chilli. "Oh, I see you got the birthday boy up," Chilli said with a smile.
"Attack of the killer pillows!" Bingo said still hiding behind Chilli. "Killer pillows?" Chilli asked. Thomas ran into the kitchen and looked for Bluey and Bingo. "Come out wherever you are," Thomas said with his pillow ready. Bluey and Bingo screamed before running off into the living room. "There they are!" Thomas shouted now running after his sister with his pillow. Bandit was bringing in a box and sets it down next to the TV. "Now time to wake the teenager," Bandit said crossing his arms. Just as Bandit said that he heard Bluey and Bingo scream. "Maybe not," Bandit said to himself. "Dad save us!" Bluey said jumping into her father's arms. "Save your from what?" Bandit asked. "From the killer pillow!" Bingo. "Killer pillow?" Bandit asked. Thomas then jumped out and started hitting his father with the pillow.
Thomas then realized that he was hitting his father with the pillow and not his sister. "Oh sorry dad," Thomas said as he stopped hitting his father with a pillow. "What we're you guys doing?" Bandit asked. "Waking me up," thømas said looking at his sisters who now hiding behind their dad. "Huh, why didn't I think of that," Bandit joked. "Anyways, happy birthday mate," Bandit said giving his son a hug. "Thanks, Dad," thømas said hugging his Father back. Bandit then did something unexpected. "Come on son time for breakfast," Bandit then picking up Thomas and carrying him into the kitchen. "Come on dad I'm not five years old anymore," Thomas said while being carried out to the kitchen. "I'm five!" Bingo said following her father and brother into the kitchen. After the family had breakfast it was time to get ready for school.
Thomas and his sisters rushed out of the house and headed to the car. Bandit was ready to take his kids to school like normal. Bandit dropped off the girls first and then his son. "Alright dad I'll see you later," Thømas said as he got his backpack ready. "Alright kiddo," Bandit said with a smile. Thømas shuts the car door and heads into the building. Bandit then drives off and takes a phone call. "Stripe, you have all the burger stuff right mate?" Bandit asked while driving. "Sure do mate and Rad has all the drinks in order?" Stripe asked. "Yep, he does," Bandit said while driving to the store. "Chilli and Trixie have the salads going and you are going to get the cake?" Stripe asked. "Yes mate, I'm getting it now," Bandit said turning into the parking lot. "Alright mate I'll see you soon," Stripe said. "Okay mate, love you bye," Bandit said before hanging up.
Bandit then runs into the store and grabs the cake he ordered for his son's birthday. Bandit places the cake in the passenger seat and then went over to his side of the car and started the car. While driving back home Bandit remembered the times of almost messing up Thomas's 1st birthday.
(Flashback)
"A little to the left Bandit," Emily said trying to get the pinata leveled. "Right here?" Bandit asked nervously. "Just a little more to the right," Emily said almost getting it right. "Emily!" Bandit shouted almost falling out from the chair. "Alright perfect!" Emily cheered. "Phew," Bandit said just before the chair broke. Bandit caught himself on the pinata but brought the whole thing down. "Oh, Bandit," Emily said with a laugh. "I ruined our son's birthday," Bandit said looking down. Thomas giggles as he crawls over to his father and gives him a pat on the head. "I think you made our son's birthday a good one," Emily said with a smile as she picks up her son and helps her husband up, and then gives him a kiss on his muzzle.
(End of flashback)
Bandit sheds a tear as he pulls up to his house. "You'd be proud of our son Emily," Bandit said to himself as he unbuckled himself from his car. "Hey mate!" Rad said from outside of the car. Bandit got startled and beeped the car on accident. "You scared me mate!" Bandit shouted with his heart racing. Rad chuckled, "sorry mate, do you need help with anything?" Rad asked. Bandit shook his head. "I think I got everything mate," Bandit said with a smile. "Okay I'll see you inside," Rad said as he went inside the house. Bandit sighs before grabbing the cake and heading inside his house.
A few hours later…
Thomas walks out of the school building and sees his dad's car. Thomas walks over to the car and gets inside. "Hey kiddo how was your day?" Bandit asked his son. "It was good," Thomas said as he buckled up. "My friends made you these," Bluey said handed Thomas a bunch of birthday cards. "Wow, how many friends do you have?" Thomas asked getting the stack of cards. "She has a lot of friends," Bingo added. "Oh, here's from Bluey and Bingo," Bandit said pulling that card out. "Wait!" Bluey warned but it was already too late. Thomas opened the card and tons of glitter came out. "Nothing like a glittering car huh?" Thomas joked. "We'll clean this later," Bandit said with a chuckle. Everyone laughed before heading on home.
Now back home Bluey and Bingo jump out of the car and race to the front door. "Sorry about the car dad," Thomas said as started cleaning out the car. "It's no problem son, Bluey and Bingo tend to be well… crafty," Bandit said helping clean the car. After cleaning the car they both head inside. "HAPPY BIRTHDAY!" everyone shouted as Thomas and Bandit walked into the house. Thomas smiled seeing all his family there wishing him a happy birthday. "Happy birthday kiddo," Bandit said placing his paws on Thomas's shoulders. "Thanks dad," Thomas said with a smile.
As the party went on, Thomas walked over to Bluey who was playing their Cousins Socks and Muffin. "Hey Socks, hey Muffin, hey Bluey," Thomas said getting down their level. Socks then barked at Thømas and tried to bite him. "Yikes," Thomas said pulling back. "Socks! That's my brother," Bluey said crossing her arms. "It's all good Bluey she didn't mean to," Thomas said with a soft smile. "Oh okay," Bluey said. "Let's play nail salon!" Muffin suggested. "Okay!" Bluey cheered. Bluey, Muffin, and Socks all went to the playroom to play nail salon. Thomas then went out to the deck to see his father and uncles cooking. Thomas then walked over to the deck's side and sat down. He then started to remember his tenth birthday in which was a bad memory.
(Flashback)
"Mom, where's dad? Why isn't he here on my birthday?" Thomas asked. "Well honey, he could busy or sleeping it is a long way from California where he lives," Emily explained. "But I want my dad!" Thomas cried with some tears in his eyes Emily sighed as she picked up the phone and was ready to give Bandit a call. "Bandit?" Emily said on the phone. "Emily I can't talk right now Chilli's about to have my daughter," Bandit said in a hurry. "Okay just give your son a call it's his birthday after all," Emily said feeling her heartbreak. "I will, I'll call before he goes to bed," Bandit said still in a hurry. "Okay, bye," Emily said before hanging up the phone. "I thought she was due for another month," Emily said wiping her tears away.
"What did dad say?" Thomas asked. "Um… he's about ready to have your sister, so he'll call later," Emily said still with tears in her eyes. "Mom, what's wrong?" Thomas asked. "It's nothing sweetheart I'm just happy for your dad is all," Emily said forcing a smile. But that wasn't the truth, she still really loved Bandit and wished they didn't have to get a divorce but it was for the best. "Come on let's blow out those candies," Emily said. "Okay," Thomas said still a little sad about his father not being there.
After the little party, Thomas had with his mother it was time for bed. Bandit didn't end up calling his son on his birthday and it turned out thet when Chilli was going to have Bluey was a false alarm and she was truly due for the next month…
(End of Flashback)
"Whose hungry!" Bandit called. Thomas snapped out of his thoughts and got up from the side deck everyone got their food and ate and then it was time for presents. "Here's one last one from me kiddo," Bandit said giving Thomas a huge box. Thomas opened the box and finds a Electric guitar. "Dad, you shouldn't have," Thømas said surprised. "I thought you might like that," Bandit said with a smile. "Are you going to be in a band for real life?" Bluey asked. "To be honest I could," Thomas said looking at the guitar. After the presents there was cake and then everything left. After the clean up it was time to go to bed.
Thomas laid in his bed getting ready to go to sleep until there was a knock on the door. *knock knock* "come in," Thomas said sitting up in his bed. Bandit walks in with a package. "Hey son I have one more gift for you," Bandit said handing Thomas the gift. Thomas takes the gift and opens it. Thomas's eyes widen seeing a picture of him, his mother, and his father on the day he was born. "I know it's not easy without your mum here but I hope this will help mate," Bandit said softly. "Dad, it's perfect," Thomas said before hugging his father. "I'm glad you like it son," Bandit said hugging his son back. "Now, get some rest mate," Bandit said breaking the hug. "Good night old man," Thomas said. "Good night mate," Bandit said leaving the room.
