Sam arrived home soon after she had left the station. She found her mother asleep on the sofa. She didn't want to disturb her so just went straight upstairs. She got into her room and threw her coat down on the floor covered in stuff. She then got to her window and looked out.

The streets far away were still covered in people. Obviously the police had attended the accident as she saw police officers rushed past. She then heard footsteps coming up the stairs.

"You're early." Julia said from the door.

"I was sent home. Dad said I needed the day off." Sam said from her window.

"You've been with Pendrick haven't you?"

"No. Maybe. Okay yes I have." Sam finally gave in.

"You know how your father feels about him."

"I know but he's nice to me."

Julia walked towards the window to join her daughter. Even though she found Pendrick annoying she couldn't stop her daughter from seeing him.

"You're going back tomorrow then?" Julia asked hopefully.

"Yes mother." Sam sighed as she rolled her eyes out of sight of Julia.

Julia gave her a kiss on the forehead and then walked back down the stairs. Sam didn't even look back when she had gone. Something had caught her eye in the street.

"That's weird." Sam muttered under her breath.

Outside on the street a man was creeping around. He was looking really suspicious and her being a detective she noticed straight away. However, she wasn't allowed to go back to the station and she would have to go back downstairs to ring someone to do something about it.

Sam sighed and sat back down in her bed. Maybe he was just an ordinary man looking suspicious. Some people just have that look about them! Sam then closed her eyes and thought about how she would get her job back tomorrow morning.

By the time Murdoch returned to the house, it was late evening. He closed the door carefully and watched up the stairs being careful not to wake Sam. He had woken someone up though.

"Good day?" Julia asked from the sofa which made Murdoch jump.

"A very long day." Murdoch groaned sitting down next to her.

"I heard about the crash. Is everyone okay?" Julia asked, wiping Murdoch's hair out of his face.

"Yes, just a few bumps and bruises. It looks like it was nothing serious."

"Thank goodness for that. Sam was getting worried." Julia nodded up the stairs.

"How is she?"

"Been quiet all day."

"Well, the inspector said she could come back tomorrow."

"That'll make her better."

"As long as she's not late. So we'd better leave early tomorrow."

Julia yawned loudly and put her hand over her mouth. Murdoch smiled as she nuzzled into Murdoch's chest. Before too long she was asleep and Murdoch soon nodded off to waiting for tomorrow to come along.

"Dad. Dad. Dad!" Sam shouted from the door.

Murdoch woke up with a start. He turned to see Sam ready waiting for him at the door. Murdoch looked at his watch and got up quickly from his seat. He ran upstairs, changed and ran back downstairs.

"Funny I thought you would be at the door first." Sam joked.

"Let's just go." Murdoch rolled his eyes.

Murdoch opened the door for his daughter. Sam went through the door and put her coat on so she could keep warm in the cold morning. Murdoch did the same and left with his daughter towards the station.

Crabtree was waiting by the door of the station. He wanted to see Sam and the detective. More likely Sam to be honest.

"You waiting for us George?" Murdoch smiled as he walked through the door.

"Just making sure you got here in time." George smiled back.

Murdoch saw the look between his colleague and his daughter and moved away so they could chat.

"So you decided to stay then?" George said standing next to Sam.

"Yeah. It's the best time I've had in ages." Sam smiled back.

"Samantha?" Murdoch called.

Sam rolled her eyes which made George laugh. Murdoch soon picked up on this but let it slide for the time being. Sam nodded at George and then left to go and see what her father wanted.

"You and Sam are getting along well." Henry whispered as George sat down.

"As friends Henry." George reassured him.

"Yeah right. Tell that to your face." Higgins chuckled.

"Leave it out." George said, hitting Henry with a piece of paper.

Higgins stopped after George did this. He knew there was something else behind his two friends' relationship but didn't want to say anymore in case the inspector or the detective were listening.

Murdoch slammed a pile of papers down on his desk in front of his daughter. Sam almost jumped when he did this. As there were so many papers it made an almighty noise.

"What's this?" Sam asked, looking the papers up and down.

"I have a new filing system and I want you to put all of these papers into the right part." Murdoch smiled rubbing his hands together in glee.

"Why me?" Sam asked, moaning.

"Because you have to earn your place here Samantha and this is where it starts."

Sam sighed again as she tried to pick all the papers up. Murdoch watched after her just in case she needed a hand. She just about managed to get the files over to her desk.

The inspector watched as Sam moved to her desk. Soon after that Murdoch came up to his office with a beaming smile on his face.

"What are you so happy about?" Brakenreid smirked.

"Just watching my daughter." Murdoch smiled back.

"I thought she wasn't coming back." Brakenreid said.

"Well she's decided to well for now anyway." Murdoch answered.

The inspector crossed his arms. Murdoch's smile soon went and went back to his own office. The inspector shook his head as the phone went loudly. He picked it up a little angry by how loud it was this morning.

"Station 4 Inspector Brakenreid." Brakenreid answered.

George and Higgins looked up from their work as soon as the phone rang. They tried to listen into the conversation. If there was a case to solve they were always the first ones to know about it. Sam still had her head in the mountain of files in front of her.

"Right we'll be straight there." Brakenreid put the phone down and went out into the bullpen.

"Murdoch we've got a case to go to." Brakenreid called.

Murdoch came rushing out of his office. George and Higgins stood up as well in case they were needed. Brakenreid nodded and they grabbed their coats too. They all left but Murdoch stayed behind for a few moments looking at Sam.

"Come on then." Murdoch urged.

"What?" Sam asked, confused.

"There's a case, come on." Murdoch urged again.

Sam quickly got her coat and left with her father. She had expected to be locked in the station house for the rest of the day but was a lot happier that she could go out on a case.
