Sam, still a bit mad at Higgins because of earlier, was making her way through all of the evidence they had so far. Higgisn watched from afar. Crabtree was filling in other paperwork that was lying around the staton. Pendrick was still missing but they knew he would be able to look after himself. If he was missing for another hour they would follow the trail but right now they didn't need to.
"There must be something. We can't just solve it." Sam murmured to herself.
"Maybe there is something that we aren't seeing yet." Crabtree answered.
Higgins and Sam turned to face him. They would literally listen to anything right now.
"Well, do we really know that we can trust Myers? What if he is involved with agents or something?" Crabtree waved his hands.
"What like Clegg?" Higgins raised an eyebrow.
"I hope not but whenever Myers is around Clegg seems to follow nine times out of ten." Crabtree sighed hoping to God it wasn't Clegg.
Murdoch had mentioned Clegg to Sam. She didn't know much about it but could tell he wasn't the best person in the world! She also knew Myers hated him and if Myers hated him then Clegg must be bad!
"Myers is usually involved with something else outside of this investigation." Crabtree continued.
The phone rang again. This time Sam raced Higgins to answer it. Sam got there first and answered.
"Police station No.4." Sam stuck out her tongue at Higgins.
"Sam it's James." Pendrick whispered, sounding more worried than usual.
"James what's wrong?" Sam looked over at Higgins and Crabtree with a weird look on her face.
"I was attacked. I'm in an old factory." Pendrick sounded a bit strained.
Sam was a little hesitant when he said this. Pendrick was all about the details so he would never just call something an old factory. Crabtree could tell Sam was thinking this over.
"Okay James wait where you are. We'll be right there." Sam told the phone and put it down.
"Who was that?" Higgins shrugged.
"Pendrick apparently." Sam shook her head.
"Don't believe it?" Crabtree asked.
"He didn't sound like James. Plus he goes into too much detail, whoever that was didn't go into any."
"So are we going to go and see where he is?" Higgins asked, trying to take all of this in.
"You will Higgins. We've got the real Pendrick to find." Sam nodded.
Higgins went to say something against this idea but was quickly cut off by Crabtree.
"Go on then Higgins. Chop chop." Crabtree waved his hand out of the door.
Higgins made a face and then headed out of the door. He would show those two. Even if it wasn't the real Pendrick he could still arrest whoever it was that had made the call. Sam watched him go out of the door hoping he would be fine.
"So where to now?" Sam finally asked.
"The hospital apparently. You've got to fill in the other Detective Murdoch." Crabtree said sarcastically.
"Oh yeah. What are you going to be doing whilst I'm there?"
"I'll keep going over what we've got so far. I'm sure we'll pick up something soon. Maybe the detective will help." Crabtree suggested.
"My dad is hurt, George. I don't want him overused." Sam warned.
Crabtree smiled. Sam nodded at him and then left towards the hospital to see her dad. He then turned back to the blackboard. He would have to find something if he was going to show Sam he was actually doing something.

Higgins had gone around every factory in the town. He had put his best foot forward so he could get back to the warm in the station house. He was now at his second to last factory thank goodness! He entered through one of the doors. It was cold and dark. He then heard footsteps running in the opposite direction.
"Hey! Stop police!" Higgins shouted.
The footsteps didn't stop however. Higgins shone his torch over to where they had come from. Nothing shoen back however. This must have been the one where they were calling from as he saw a phone on the side of one of the walls.
"Typical." Higgisn said under his breath.
He shone his torch around again in case he missed something. There wasn't anything however which was good. He was about to leave when he saw a figure standing behind him. He then turned around and shone the torch in the persons face.
"What the hell?!" A female voice cried.
"Miss Cherry." Higgins said apologetic.
Miss Cherry's face then came into the light. She brushed herself off as her face turned bright red. Higgins walked her out back into the light so they could talk further.
"What are you doing here then?" Higgins asked.
"Investigating a lead. What about you?" Miss Cherry said back, sounding ticked off.
"Same. Now you'd better go, it's not safe here." Higgins tried to leave her.
"Not safe?! I've been in more dire situations then this." She chuckled.
"Detective Murdoch has already taken a bullet. Two men have ended up dead. So no it's not safe." Higgins told her again.
"I heard."
Higgins sighed. He then turned back to her. He motioned his head back to where they had both come from.
"Come on. We'll go back to the station and tell you more." Higgins finally decided.
Miss Cherry smiled as she walked in front of him. Higgins hated doing this when Crabtree or Sam weren't there but she might be of use. Watts had said she had been before so why not now?

Sam had made her way to the hospital. The traffic on foot had been horrible and she was now later than she thought she was going to be. As her father was a very keen timekeeper as well this wasn't going to be met with happy things.
"Hi I'm here to see William Murdoch." Sam said to the receptionist.
The receptionist nodded and let Sam in. Sam nodded back and rushed along the corridors to find the room. She sighed and took a deep breath in before entering the room.
"Hi Sam." William said from his bed with his eyes closed.
"How did you know it was me?!" Sam smirked.
Murdoch opened his eyes and gave a weak smile. Sam went over to the seat near the bed. Murdoch shuffled in his bed and faced Sam.
"So how's the case going?" Murdoch muttered.
"It's hit a bit of a stand still. Myers isn't telling us anything and Pendrick is missing." Sam told in detail.
"Pendrick's missing?" Murdoch asked, surprised.
"Yeah. Higgins and Crabtree will go and find him if he's been missing an hour. I don't know if they have yet though." Sam said worried about Pendrick.
"I'm sure they will." Murdoch comforted his daughter.
"Crabtree said you might have an insight about the case. Something about Clegg popped up to."
Murdoch's smile dropped when she said Clegg's name. Sam now really wanted to change the subject but knew her father wouldn't stop talking about an issue once they got on to one.
"Clegg has been dead for years. It won't be about him." Murdoch said.
"Are you sure? You've said he's come back about five times!" Sam made sure.
Murdoch just nodded as a response. Both of them wanted to move on from that conversation. Sam had the perfect thing.
"Mum wanted to know how I was doing." Sam mentioned.
"And what did you tell her?" Murdoch asked, yawning.
"I was fine. I haven't been home in a while so that might not help." Sam shrugged.
"She just worries about you Sam. We both do." Murdoch yawned again.
Sam could tell this was a sign that she shoudl leave. If he yawned anymore then the nurse would probably tell her off for making him tired! She said her goodbyes and then left for the station again. Murdoch would be more useful when he could come back to the station and work on the case in person.
Before Sam left though, she found someone. She smiled as she walked over to them.
"James." Sam smiled.
There was Pendrick waiting for her. He looked a little pale but if he had been missing for a bit then she wasn't surprised. Pendrick waved over to her as she came over.
"You had us worried sick!" Sam rolled her eyes.
"Well I'm here now." Pendrick breathed out.
"You okay?"
"Yeah I'm fine. Just smoke got in my lungs." Pendrick coughed.
Sam was still a little bit worried about her friend. Another thing about Pendrick was that he didn't tell anybody if he was injured or hurt. This might be the most annoying thing about him especially in something like this!
"Come on we'll go back to the station." Pendrick went out of the door.
"You sure? Don't you want to get checked out." Sam suggested.
Pendrick wasn't listening however. Maybe she was being overprotective. Maybe he was fine and she just over complicated things. She shook those thoughts off and then followed her friend back to the station, hoping nothing else would stop the investigation from completely working.
