Crabtree was walking back to the station house. He was breathing a bit more easily now he knows it wasn't Clegg in the photo. Plus it was good to see the detective after having him in the hospital for so long. He was near the station when a crash drew his attention elsewhere. He hated crashes so working at night wasn't a good thing.
"Hello?" He asked into the darkness making sure no one needed his help.
No response came back. That made Crabtree feel even worse, as it sounded like there was no one there. After the investigation so far, he didn't really want to check it out any further. Falling through a floor, Myers going missing and Pendrick getting beaten up, just showed how bad crashes could be.
He ran the rest of the way to the station just to make sure he was safe. He quickly opened the door and slammed it behind him. He looked out of the window to see if anything was there but was glad to see nothing had followed him.
"George? What's the matter?" Sam stirred.
"How did you know it was me?" Crabtree whispered trying to not wake up the others.
Sam turned the light on. The others either woke up or mumbled because the light came on. Pendrick rolled over and fell back to sleep, Higgins woke up as he didn't like the light too much.
"I knew you had gone out. You're the only one who would go out in the middle of the night to find something." Sam yawned, stretching out her arms.
"Well I know something that will put your minds at rest." Crabtree sat back down in his chair.
"Curious. How could you find something out in the middle of the night?" Sam questioned.
"I have my sources. Anyway it's not Clegg in the photo, it's someone else thank God." Crabtree told Higgins and Sam.
Sam smiled massively when she heard this and Higgins could almost hug Crabtree at this piece of information. Sam was still wondering where George got this from but let it fly for now.
"So we've still got to find out who that is?" Higgins almost sounded sad that it wasn't Clegg.
"Yes. Why did you want it to be Clegg Henry?" Crabtree crossed his arms.
"No but at least we would know who it was. Now we have no idea and we're back to the beginning."
Higgins was right. Even though they didn't have to deal with Clegg, if they didn't know who the person in the picture was, they were basically back at the beginning of the case. Sam turned her chair so she was facing the blackboard. Then the phone rang which woke Pendrick up this time.
"Really?! I should have just gone home." Pendrick moaned.
Pendrick got up from his seat as he could tell he wasn't going to fall asleep yet. He answered the phone and the others waited to see who it was on the other side.
"Yes this is the station house." Pendrick yawned, trying his best to stay awake and finish this conversation.
His face then contorted. Sam could sense something was wrong already and Pendrick hadn't even said anything. Her father had taught her how to read people which was kind of useful in their line of work.
"Right. Well we'll check that out in the morning. Alright thanks." Pendrick ended the call.
"Who was it?" Sam asked first.
"It was detective Watts. He said he had something linking to the case and he's sending it down tonight." Pendrick said.
"How does he know about the case? Unless the inspector has told him." Higgins suggested.
"I feel sorry for the inspector if his wife finds out he's told Watts something." Crabtree wiped the back of his neck.
"You okay George? You look worried." Pendrick suddenly noticed.
The others turned to face George and could where Pendrick was coming from. George seemed to be sweating quite a lot and for such a cold night, this was a shock. Crabtree could see everyone staring at him.
"It was nothing. Just something spooked me outside." George shook his head trying to change the subject.
"It wasn't a crash was it?" Higgins asked.
"It was come to think of it. Why have you heard something?" George admitted.
"I heard a crash earlier. I didn't think anything of it, just put it off to some crash from the street but if we both heard it in the same spot…" Higgins thought.
"Higgins it's just a crash. They're pretty normal for street noises." Sam finished his thinking.
Higgins went quiet. Sam had made a point there, they should be very used to street noises but this seemed different somehow. However, if no one was going to listen to him, he wasn't going to bring it up again.
"Now come on let's get some sleep. We'll worry about crashes in the morning." Pendrick said, trying to calm the tension in the room.

Watts was still pacing around the room he was staying in. He had gotten the call from Detective Murdoch earlier that day and he had told Watts everything about the case that he knew. With his own case to solve however, he couldn't leave where he was and go to help them. He then stopped pacing and stared down at his phone. He picked it up and rang the hospital phone number.
"Yes Detective Watts here. Can I talk to Detective Murdoch please?" He asked the receptionist.
There was some shuffling from the other side of the phone as the receptionist passed the call along to Murdoch. He then heard some breathing coming from the other side and talked into the phone.
"Murdoch?" Watts asked first.
"Watts. Did you tell them?" Murdoch's voice answered.
"I did. I'll send it down in the morning. Did you need anything else?"
"I got a very threatening note earlier. It warned me from letting the team go any further into the case. I'm scared they're in danger." Murdoch sounded worried.
"I'm sure they're not. Someone is just scaring you."
"Watts I've had notes like this before and they've meant it. Neither of us are there and can't save them. What if something does happen?"
Watts didn't know what to say. He couldn't just drop everything and go back to Toronto like that. True if the team were in danger he couldn't just leave them to it.
"Murdoch I can't. If I go now my case will never be solved. I'm sure the others will be able to save themselves." Watts finally said.
He heard Murdoch sigh on the other side of the phone. It was obvious he knew Watts was right. Murdoch wasn't the first to admit he was wrong however, so this was as much as he was going to get.
"Alright Watts. You're right, I'm just getting paranoid and should leave them to it." Murdoch continued to sigh.
"Just get better soon and then you'll be able to help them." Watts said, which he would later regret saying.
"Thanks Watts. Tell me when you've sent the telegram tomorrow." Murdoch signed off for the night.
Watts put the phone down. He stroked his chin with his hand. Murdoch had never sounded that worried before. True he could trust Higgins and Crabtree half of the time. Sam on the other hand, maybe not so trustworthy. Murdoch had every right to be worried.

Murdoch was trying to gather his thoughts. After the brick through his window, nurses and doctors had rushed around trying to fix it. In other words he had been left alone in the corridor for now. He was just glad that Julia hadn't come along and found out what had happened.
"William?" A familiar voice asked from down the corridor.
Spoke too soon. Murdoch turned to see his wife down the corridor. She didn't look happy. He took a deep breath in and got ready to be shouted at.
"Hello Julia." Murdoch waved, trying to keep her in a good mood.
"What are you doing out of bed? No scratch that. What are you doing out of your room?!" Julia nearly shouted.
"A brick came through the window. People are sorting it out."
"A brick came through your window?!"
"Julia calm down. I'm fine it missed me."
Julia felt like punching her husband. She didn't however as she knew it would injure him more. She just made a face at this and then hugged him just making sure he was safe.
"I telegramed Watts. He's found something and is sending it down in the morning." William changed the subject.
"Did he say what he had?"
"No but he said it was important and I know not to question Watts." Murdoch said as the doctors came out of his room.
The doctors nodded at Murdoch which meant he could go back in. As Julia and Murdoch entered they saw tape across the window. Hopefully that would be enough for now.
"What did the note on the brick say?" Julia said seeing a piece of paper on the bedside table.
William quickly grabbed the piece of paper. This made him wince badly but he didn't want Julia knowing about it. Julia gave him a frown.
"Nothing. Just a piece of paper." Murdoch shook his head.
"I bet it isn't." Julia rolled her eyes.
"Excuse me sir, I'm afraid you can't have any more visitors." A nurse popped her head around the door.
"Just a bit longer?" Murdoch almost begged.
The nurse shook her head and Julia was already yawning. William kissed his wife and let her leave. He didn't want her too but in this state he wasn't ready to argue. He got into bed still thinking about the case and the brick which had flown through his window. Not exactly the night he had been expecting!

Sam woke in the middle of the night. She looked around and it was still dark with none of the others awake either. She took a deep breath and went outside to get some air. There might be next to no people in the station house but it still felt stuffy.
"Can't sleep?" Crabtree asked walking up behind her.
"Not exactly." Sam smiled.
"You know we'll solve this case Sam. I just wish you could see it." Crabtree said, sighing.
"I can. Well I almost can. Just wish we had a bit more evidence or maybe even a clue as to where the gang are hiding out."
Crabtree sighed again looking up to the stars. It always helped him think when he was down. He had told Sam as much but she didn't listen and just kept staring at the ground.
"Can I tell you something?" Crabtree interrupted the silence.
"Go ahead." Sam wondered what he could have suddenly thought of.
"I'm scared that we won't solve this case. I mean I might look all big and tough but I'm scared." Crabtree admitted.
"You?! Scared?!" Sam smirked.
"Don't laugh. I can tell you are too."
Sma didn't admit it out loud but Crabtree could tell she was worried about the case and proving herself. She didn't have to prove herself to him but after the last time she and the inspector had words, maybe this was the best case to show off.
"We should be going back inside. It's too cold out here." Crabtree tried to make Sam go back.
"I want to stay out here a while longer." Sam moved away.
Crabtree wasn't too sure she should be out here on her own. Sam might be strong but with all these noises being heard, he still didn't think it was a good idea.
"Fine. I'm staying out here too." Crabtree crossed his arms to keep the warmth in.
Sam was surprised by this. Crabtree was the first to go inside after a long day out in the cold. She didn't question him though and let him stay with her. She wasn't going to fall asleep though. Too many things to think about.
