Chapter 88: Fairy Tactician!

"Show us your fighting power!" Chapati declared. "Your magic! And the bond you have with your comrades! The final day! a survival game in which everyone participates! Let the Grand Magic Games begin!"

"And for this final battle, the battlefield is the entire city of crocus, kabo!" Mato added.

"The members of each guild have already dispersed and are standing by." Yajima continued.

"The teams run around town and if they encounter an enemy guild, a battle ensues." Chapati explained the rules. "If an opponent loses consciousness or becomes unable to fight, the other side will gain one point."

"And each guild assigns a leader." Yajima continued.

"Although the other guilds don't know who the other guild leaders are, kabo." Mato pointed out.

"If the leader if defeated, the other team gets five points." Chapati added. "So theoretically, the highest point score could be 45 points. Every guild has a chance to win."

"Should the team stay together of split up?" Yajima wondered.

"That depends on your strategy, kabo." Mato stated.

"Listen, we have no choice but to win." Erza reminded. "To get Lucy back."

"And here's hoping Natsu and the others will safely rescue her." Ulyo pointed out.

"But we can't pin our hopes on that." Gajeel stated.

"Even so, we've got another motive for winning this thing." Gray added.

"We gotta win this for the guys in the guild who had it tough while we were gone for those seven years." Laxus smirked.

"Who will attain the glorious peak of magic?" Chapati questioned. "Let the Grand Magic Games begin!"

"Let's go!" Erza gave the order.

"The final battle has begun at last!" Chapati gushed.

"It seems many of the teams are splitting up to fight individually." Yajima noted.

"The members of Sabertooth, each of whom has great fighting strength, have split up." Chapati gave the rundown. "Otherwise, some teams have use the buddy system, while others have formed a three-person cell."

"What's wrong, Rufus?" Orga asked, landing on a roof.

"They're not moving." The Memory-Make mage noted.

"What's this?" Chapati was stunned when the camera focused on the Fairy Tail group. "What's wrong? The members of Fairy Tail have their eyes closed and aren't moving!:

"What the hell are they going?" Makarov fumed.

"What's going on?" Lisanna wondered.

"I don't know." Cana retorted. "The devil takes the hindmost!" the card mage shouted. "Hurry up and start kicking ass!"

"Fairy Tail's odd behaviour is curious…" Chapati stated. "But other people have already made contact with the enemy! Quatro Puppy's Novali is incapacitated!" he announced, Yuka and Toby having teamed up to take out Novali. Lamia Scale gains a point, which puts them in 3rd place alone."

"We had to run into women." Hibiki sighed. "How unlucky."

"If that's how you feel, you can always hold back." Arana joked.

"Nope, we're going all out." Ren corrected.

"Don't hold it against us, okay?" Eve teased.

"Wouldn't have it any other way." Arana grinned.

"Aerial Fourze!" Ren let his attack loose.

"White Fang!" Eve added in his snow storm for good measure.

"Oh my, Mermaid Heel's Arania and Beth are both incapacitated!" Chapati announced. "Blue Pegasus gains two points, bringing their total to 32 points! All right, the points are on the move! Unlike the members of Fairy Tail who are just standing there!"

"Hey, Erza!" Macao shouted. "Get out there and take down the enemy!"

"This is so irritating." Cana muttered.

"Whoa, the meantime, Lamia is crushing Puppy!" Chapati continued.

"Lamia Scales gets another two points." Yajima noted.

"Their total is 43 points, kabo." Mato added.

"While Jura, one of the Ten Great Wizard Saints, is around, I can't picture Lamia losing." Macao remarked.

"Someone take him down!" Wakaba urged.

"Uh oh, Lamia's Toby and Yuka are suddenly face to face with…" Chapati gaped.

"Bacchus!" Yuka exclaimed.

"Two against one, huh?" Bacchus mused. "The odds are against me, but my soul is trembling!"

"Guess we have no choice." Yuka noted.

"I'll put you into a deep sleep." Bacchus grinned, only to be taken out by one single punch from Sting.

"It's Sting!" Chapati declared. "Saber's Sting came out of nowhere to knock out Bacchus, the leader of Quatro Puppy! Sabertooth gains five points! They did it! Sabertooth, the strongest guild, is in first place! Oh my, Kagura is here!" he added, the swordswoman taking out Yuka and Toby in one shot. "With Yuka and Toby out of the way, it's a one-on-one fight with Sting! Huh?"

"He's gone, kabo." Mato noted, Kagura turning to find Sting gone. "Mermaid Heel gets two points for a total of 42 points!"

"it seems Mermaid Heel's Milliana has taken down Quatro Puppy's Rocker." Yajima pointed out.

"That's another point, bringing them up to 43." Chapati tallied. "Wow, Mermaid's really putting the pressure on."

"And I think Puppy's already wiped out?" Yajima mused.

"The points are increasing at a dizzying rate, but Fairy Tail has yet to move a muscle." Chapati turned the attention on the oddly silent team. "What's going on with them?"

"What are they doing?" Makarov was puzzled. "They've gotten win to help Lucy."

"That's why," Mavis smiled. "That's why they must be calm. From all the previous competitions, I've observed the enemy's fighting strength, magic, psychology and behavioural patterns. I took it all into account and ran hundreds of millions of battle simulations in my head. Their movements, predictions, and results, locations; it's all gone according to my calculations. I've already told them the strategy. Lead your comrades to victory," she continued, the Fairy Tail team finally opening their eyes. "That's my war. Begin Operation: Fairy Star!"

"Roger!" the team chorused.

"Finally!" Chapati declared. "Fairy Tail has finally started to move!"

"Everyone, spread out!" Mavis started giving orders. "Please proceed to the next checkpoint!"

"Shodai…" Makarov was flabbergasted.

"What's the checkpoint?" even Jet was confused.

"Fairy Tail's on the move!" Chapati gushed.

"Maybe that was some kind of strategy." Yajima mused.

"Even if so, I think it'll be kind of tough for them to take back enough points, kabo." Mato noted.

"At this point, there's a 97% chance Rufus will make a move." Mavis predicted.

"I see them." Rufus chuckled. "My enemy tracking ability really shouldn't be underestimated. I'll take them all off the board at once. Memory Make: Night of Falling Stars!"

"Ignore the lights in the sky and in two seconds, you can dodge it." Mavis instructed.

True to the First Master's prediction, the team skilfully avoided getting hit.

"How many times do you think I'd fall for the same trick?" Gray retorted.

"This magic's attribute is lightning." Mavis stated. "Only Laxus should block it."

"It doesn't even tickle." The Lightning Dragon Slayer remarked, taking on the attack.

"What?" Rufus was shocked. "He stopped it?"

"The enemy is shaken and his thoughts are disordered." Mavis stated. "Because of the disordered thoughts, there's a 68% chance Rufus will try to approach us. There's a 32% he'd stand by at this current location. But even in that case, it doesn't have much of an effect on our strategy. At this point, Erza will make contact with an enemy by proceeding northwest."

"Shodai was right," Erza remarked, skidding to a stop before Jenny.

"What a scary opponent." Jenny took off. "Escape and live to fight another day."

"Destroy her." Mavis instructed, Erza taking out Jenny with one shot. "Gajeel, obliterate the enemy to the south."

"I didn't know you were gonna ambush me." Eve muttered the grinning Iron Dragon Slayer having taken him out.

"Sorry, bro." Gajeel smirked. "All right, wanna attack me in order?" he turned to the other two. "Simultaneously? I'm okay with either way."

"Hibiki, you get out of here." Ren instructed. "I'll stop this guy."

"You can stop this?" Gajeel's grin widened when he slammed an iron rod into Ren.

"Fairy Tail has someone who trumps the calculations of my Archive?" Hibiki was shocked as he fled.

"That's right." Gray grinned.

"Another ambush?" Hibiki gaped, taken out by the ice mage's ice block.

"Gray, after you take out the enemy who escaped to the water fountain plaza, go directly to point B4." Mavis instructed. "Ulyo, scan for enemies while supporting the rear guard. Laxus, continue to F8. Erza, go to S5, There's enemy movement in that area."

"I just remembered your nickname, Shodai." Makarov realized. "With that genius eye for strategy, you attained victory in a number of wars. The Fairy Tactician!"

"You were wide open." Jura remarked, taking out Ichiya with one hit.

"Jura of the Ten Great Wizard Saints get 5 points for taking out Ichiya, the leader of Blue Pegasus!" Chapati continued his commentary. "And my Cheri-tan gave the boot to Mermaid Heel's Risely, tying them for 1st place with 49 points, too! Well that aside, it's really heating up here with three teams tied for first place."

"I predict a fierce battle from here on out." Mavis stated.

"Hey Shodai, what are ultimately they gonna do about Jura?" Cana posted a question.

"I've thought of him, but I couldn't come up with a way to deal with him." Mavis admitted. "That shows how exceptionally strong Jura is."
