Through the unlocked barge (courtesy of Angel, of course) they came to a cliff above a small town.

"That would be Liar's Berg, yes?" Naruto scanned the small walled settlement. It was quiet, seemingly abandoned, but he could see movement behind some houses.

"I think it is. What about the cliff?" Gaige, however, didn't notice. She had that same look on her face, trepidation mixed with wonder. She was certainly excited about Pandora, and about the world in general. And for some reason or another, Naruto couldn't quite bring himself to shatter all of her illusions just yet.

"Might as well test it out." He muttered, kicking the small square robot down.

Of course, having somewhat of a soft spot for Gaige didn't mean he was any nicer.

"That was mean." She glared at him with a small pout.

"I could have kicked you." She raised an eyebrow at him, but shrugged it off.

"Sure, whatever you say. Is it safe?"

"Minions? Are you there? I seem to have fallen. And I can't get up."

"Seems safe enough." Naruto climbed down carefully first, followed by the Mechromancer.

A few more bullymongs greeted them at the entrance, but were quickly shot to death. And then to bits, courtesy of Gaige's robot.

There was a steel gate at the wall surrounding the village, a completely empty village behind.

::Alright boys!:: A voice sounded through their ECHOs. ::Wait until the Vault Hunters are in the town to completely and totally surround them! Don't let them notice you!:: A bandit ran out of cover, stopped mid-way and ran back. ::Dammit, Jerry, they could've seen ya!::

"Are they for real?" Gaige and Naruto shared a look. "Um, bandit-guys…"

"Don't bother." Naruto deadpanned. "They're very set in their ways."

"What ways?"

"The ways of utter stupidity, of course."

"Ah."

::Alright boys, here they come! Get ready!::

"Should we shoot them now? Before they set up the ambush?"

"It's not usually done, but we might as well." Naruto drew the pistol and let off one shot, hitting the unlucky bandit that peered over his cover between the eyes.

::Ah, fuck, they spotted us! Attack! Attack!::

The fence dropped down and bandits poured out of various nooks and crannies, screaming various obscenities at the two.

"They call this an ambush?" Gaige summoned her massive robot and prepped a shotgun.

"Unfortunately enough, yes." Two more bangs shot out and two more bandits dropped dead.

As for Claptrap, the tiny bot was cowering behind the two teens, muttering nonsense, interrupted with 'Please don't kill me!' at random intervals.

There were quite a lot of bandits, a couple of dozen at least, but they posed very little problem for the younger Vault Hunters. Within a couple of minutes all of them were bleeding on the ground, dead. Wiith the exception of one unfortunate soul. He was only grazed in the shoulder, and was leaning one one of the houses, scared out of his mind.

"Hello." Naruto calmly approached him, crouching down to look him into the mask-covered face. "I am not a very patient man." He brought the still-hot barrel of one of his pistols to the man's wound, pressing in. the bandit let out a scream. "So if you have any sense you will answer my questions promptly. Understood?" The bandit nodded. "Good. Now, who is your leader?"

"Captain Flynt."

"Good. And who offered the bounty on our heads?" After a moment of silence Naruto fired off one shot in the air and pressed the barrel to the bandit's wound again.

"Gah! Handsome Jack… Handsome Jack… please, stop."

"Don't worry, just one more question. The other Vault Hunters. Where are they?"

"We have one on our ship. I don't know about the others." Naruto raised an eyebrow and brought his gun up "I swear I don't!"

"Oh, I believe you." He brought his gun between the man's eyes. "It's just a shame you'll have to die either way."

"What? No! I told you everything."

"Yes, you did. And a good thing, too. Otherwise I would have tortured you more."

"You can't do this." A loud bang echoed through the settlement and the bandit slumped down, dead.

"I just did." Naruto got up, glancing indifferently at Gaige's shocked expression.

"Why…?"

"And what do you think would have happened to us if the situation was different?" Naruto glared lightly at the girl. "I would have gotten off easy. They would have just killed me."

"I…"

"Precisely. This isn't a game, girl. This is Pandora. And on Pandora, virtually everything can, and will, kill you. So you have to kill it first." He turned around, leaving the poor girl with a lot on her mind. "You, robot."

"Yes minion?" Naruto growled and shot the little bot's corner. "Ouch. That would've been painful if I could actually feel pain."

"Then do not call me a minion again. Now, will we have to go through this 'Captain Flynt' to get to Sanctuary?"

"Why yes, he still has my boat." Naruto sighed in defeat. "But first we have to do something about my eye."

"Oh for the love of…"
