I don't own Naruto, orange is just ...ew

Chapter 2

Sasuke Uchiha liked being alone.

He liked it so much that he had killed his only brother for the right to be. His only want in life was to be in his compound, alone, awaiting the day where he could be with all those little Uchiha in the sky.

At least that's what he told himself in between drinks.

He hadn't really gotten to properly test his liver when he was younger, even in a place like the Sound. Now, at the ripe old age of 21, he was very in tune with his body in relation to the intoxicating substance that was alcohol.

Naruto, however, was not.

Naruto, who brought his loud orange ass into Sasuke's district and interrupted the time that Sasuke had killed for. Said man, now jonin and engaged to be married, was sauced off of his ass and telling Sasuke about his "pervy sages" exploits when they trained together.

Kami, Sasuke missed the war.

When he was fighting, it didn't matter who with, he didn't have to deal with stupid shit like entertaining his best friend or figuring out how he was going to get the orange-clad nightmare back to his own home, from Sasuke's district, which was very far from civilization because, and he could not stress this enough, he wanted to be alone.

Naruto was one of the only people he tolerated, however Naruto was a lot to tolerate. Sasuke used his only arm to sit his glass down as he listened to the boy's story get more incoherent. This was how Naruto usually spent his days off. Bothering Sasuke was his favorite thing to do. Now that Tsunade was set to step down any day now, Naruto was taking his duties a lot more seriously. They knew that Kakashi was next in line, Naruto was not quite ready for that next step, but everyone in this Kami forsaken village seemed to know that orange-clad man's time was coming.

Sasuke had missed a lot of his friends' natural progression. Naruto wasn't as dense as he had been when Sasuke had left the village the first time, or even the second. Sasuke rubbed the back of his head as he thought of the little redemption pillage he had taken. He hadn't known why he had left, just that he needed to. This village, this place, held some of Sasuke's biggest regrets and heartaches, however, when the anger subsided, it also held a lot of decent memories for him as well.

He had mixed feelings about returning. The people in the village hated him, and honestly, he hated them back. He hated the smug ignorance and justification. Danzo was dead, but his influence still stunk up the village. There were still secrets, still blood. This was why Sasuke wouldn't take missions from Tsunade. She was decorated, and a war hero, the same as he. Nevertheless, Tsunade had known, as all Hokage's had, what this village had done to his brother, to all of the Uchiha. His clan had been an expendable resource to them, Sasuke did not believe for one second that his family's reasons to insight a coup was unfounded.

Nevertheless, he had returned. He had returned because, despite the lies and the promises he had made to Itachi, this was where Sasuke ultimately saw it all ending. He had just pictured himself dying a little earlier. Lost in thought, he hadn't seen Naruto turning green and emptying the insides of his stomach on Sasuke's dark carpet.

"Shit Baka, you idiot." Sasuke hissed, in a flash he had tugged Naruto upright in an effort to keep him from vomiting on his couch. It would already be a pain to clean the first surface the other man had ruined.

Naruto grumbled incoherently as he lulled all of his weight on to Sasuke's side. Sasuke maneuvered so that he could support Naruto with his arm. During his travels, he adapted to his disadvantage in combat, as well as regular life. However, shouldering a full-grown man with one arm was still a pain in his ass.

Sasuke lopped his fingers through Naruto belt loops to keep him steady and walking him toward the door. The sun was setting, Sasuke hoped he could get the idiot home before it was pitch black. Sasuke stepped off his porch, passing a large basket for mail that he didn't bother to look at. All of it carried the Hokage seal, he didn't need to read any mission reports or requests to teach a class at the Academy. He didn't care that Tsunade thought he would be a "good fit" for the Konoha integration unit. Tsunade believed that because she had spared him jail time or death, that Sasuke was her slave or her shinobi for higher. This couldn't be further from the truth.

To Sasuke, Tsunade was a louder, less flat chested version of Sakura. The woman thought she could have something just because she yelled or shook her fist. She had learned quickly that was not the way to get an Uchiha to do anything.

The villagers all stared at them as they hobbled through the streets. Naruto was a public figure by choice, and Sasuke was a public figure by …other means. They cast weary eyes at them as Sasuke dragged his friend toward the house he had purchased after the war.

He still couldn't fathom Naruto domesticated, having a house, and getting married. Though he was now 22, Sasuke could help but remember the years of being privy to an immature Naruto doing "Sexy No Jutsu", something that Sasuke didn't exactly see translating to a marriageable quality. Then again, what the hell did Sasuke know about women. Kakashi, the pervert that he was, attempt to "show him a few things". By this, the jonin had meant the extensive porn collection that he made his habit to read in public. "Desensitization leads to excellent stamina Sasuke" the man had said, Sasuke hadn't talked to his instructor for two weeks after.

To be honest, Sasuke found women annoying. They talked a lot. Even with his brief encounters with Sakura, she always found the need to cover everything that had happened in her life from the last time she'd seen him until the present. Every conversation, every patient, and every rumor. By the time Sasuke managed to get away, he would have a splitting headache, this would only intensify when Naruto walked through his door like he owned the place.

Sasuke missed the days when he nomadically roamed the earth. He would stop and save the occasional damsel, but he would only stay long enough for the free food and he would disappear.

Naruto loved to tease him that he would die a sexless hermit. Sasuke wouldn't argue with Naruto. He wasn't about to tell the immature man that he had in fact had sex long before Naruto and found it nothing but a dissatisfying mess of sweating and limbs. In the Sound, women viewed sex as a listless occurrence that held no value and provided momentary satisfaction. He knew the Sound Village was different in many of their beliefs, however, he couldn't imagine that any sexual experience that he would have in Konoha would be any different than laying with a woman from the Sound.

He could see Naruto's house in the distance. The lights were on in the small windows. Walking the last little bit of distance, Sasuke reached up and tapped on the door. Sasuke knew Naruto's fiancé had to be home at this late hour. When Sasuke had hustled Naruto through the village, he could see that the weapons shop had been closed and the lights were off.

After a few moments, Tenten answered the door.

Casting a brief look over at Naruto, she sighed. Reaching her arm out, with surprising strength that most likely came from carrying a giant scroll and being Rock Lee's former partner, she snatches Naruto's collar and yanks him in the house as he falls to the floor with a thud.

Tenten and he watch as Naruto musters that stupid grin on his face, "Hey beautiful, is it bedtime?" he asked the weapons mistress dozily.

Tenten fixed Naruto with an evil grin, "Yeah, I'm about to knock you out."

Naruto had the decency to look frightened. Sasuke had the sneaking submission that Naruto was the submissive in a rather BDSM type relationship. Sasuke made to take his leave when Tenten called out to him.

"Uchiha, wait," the woman called. Sasuke turned back to look at her lazily. Sasuke knew for a fact he wouldn't have even noticed the woman if she weren't marrying his best friend, but Naruto could do worse. At least Naruto hadn't found someone more annoying than himself or Sakura or settled for some dumb fangirl with a misguided sense of admiration. Still, in the year and a half that Sasuke had been back in the village after his roaming, the bun headed woman had never expressed an interest in talking to Sasuke. "Just wanted to give you heads up that Tsunade is looking for you. She looks… different than the usual times. This time it might actually be important."

Sasuke doubted that anything in the world was actually as important a Tsunade perceived it to be. Nevertheless, he gave Tenten a curt nod and left her to wrestle with the man she was dumb enough to marry.

Making his way back to his district, he chose to move across the rooftops to avoid the general public. The promise he had made to Itachi aside, he had no interest in social gatherings. After Naruto's wedding, which he had a strong urge to not attend, he planned to leave the village once more. He had meant what he had said, there was no escaping Konoha. He would return if he actually managed to restore his clan, but until then his life was his own.

As he moved closer to his district, he slowed his pace. There were two very present chakra signatures and several faint ones scattered in his trees. He recognized the faint signatures as ANBU. He knew this because he was frequently monitored by the secret organization. He found it laughable that Tsunade hand propositioned him to be an ANBU yet felt that she could send them to "remind Sasuke of his place."

He decided to make his presence know, refusing to be pushed away from his own ancestral home.

"Ah the Lady Hokage herself," he said dryly. He was already bored; Naruto had filled up his sociability quota for the evening. "Surprised you came yourself, did Shizune actually get a life or something?"

"Hello to you too brat," Tsunade replied. The usual steal that she saved just for Sasuke was in her voice. Sasuke disregarded her for a moment and cast his nonchalant gaze upon the Hokage's companion. For some odd reason she looked familiar to Sasuke, but something was off about her face.

"Who's that?" Sasuke asked, curiosity getting the better of him as he wondered who Tsunade had brought with her to see the former S-class criminal. As quickly as he asked though, he decided he didn't care. Whoever the woman was, whatever she wanted, he would tell her no just like Tsunade.

Still, why was she so familiar.

"You would know if you bothered to read any of the correspondence, I send you," Tsunade replied bluntly.

Sasuke smirked at her, "I assure your correspondence is being put to good use, I saved a fortune this year on firewood."

"Tch," Tsunade grumbled, Sasuke saw her clench her fist. "Can we talk inside?"

Sasuke raised his eyebrows, normally after a few minutes in his presence the woman stomped off in frustration. Something really must be important to her. Did it have to do with the girl that stood quietly at her side looking like she'd rather be a stone in the pathway then be led into his house?

Turning his attention back to the older of two of them, Sasuke, the saint that he was, stated frankly, "No".

Tsunade sigh tiredly, perhaps the woman's secrets were keeping her up at night. Good.

"Uchiha, I know we've had our differences. But you're not going to want anyone to overhear this."

Sasuke studied her once more, taking in the seriousness of her expression. With a grunt, he took the keys from his pocket and used his one arm to turn the key into the lock, and thrust the door open.

The stench hit him like a well placed Chidori.

Fuck Naruto and his exclusive diet of ramen. Sasuke had failed to remember that Konoha's golden boy had blown chunks on his goddamn carpet.

"Rough day Uchiha," Tsunade remarked as she and the other woman stepped into the house. The mystery woman gave him a pitying smile.

"I c-can help clean it up," she offered. Sasuke eyed her wearily.

Sasuke scoffed at the blushing girl, "I doubt there's anything you can help me with."

The girl snapped her jaw shut and Sasuke felt slightly smug. At the end of the day, she was just another girl either frightened or intimidated by him, or in Sakura's case infatuated with him.

Sasuke passed Tsunade without a glance and went to his shinobi traveling pack, he hadn't bothered to unpack it, he knew he would need it again. Reaching inside, he produced a vial of translucent powder. It served as a quick fix for removing DNA like blood and skin from a scene. It provided shinobi with an untraceable getaway.

As he began to sprinkle the substance over that orange-clad idiots' lunch, the woman shot out her hand to stop him. Her touch annoyed him instantly. Her hand was cool and tiny and made him feel like some part of him was being tamed.

"I wouldn't d-do that if I w-were you," she stated simply, looking him knowingly in the eyes. He notices her eyes for the first time, they were familiar. Almost too familiar. How could someone with features so dark and eyes so intense have such a calming demeanor, and where the hell did he know this girl from?

He fixed her with the full might of his glare. Everything about her pissed him off. From her pale features, her slim curves, and her long dark hair. He didn't know how to access her properly, and that angered him.

Defiantly, he tipped the contents of the jar onto the carpet, not moving his heated gaze from hers. She dropped her hand from his arm and shook her head, tisking as she looked down. Sasuke followed her gaze and looked down at the mess.

"Shit," Sasuke cursed, running his fingers through his hair. The vomit was gone, but so was half his rug.

"That's what I was t-trying to tell you U-Uchiha-san, DNA r-resolution powder incinerates synthetic materials."

"Tch." Sasuke snapped back at her, rounding on Tsunade, who stood quietly smirking in all of this.

"What do you want, I've had enough annoyances for the day," Sasuke snapped in a bored tone. His gaze wandered anywhere the girl's dark eyes were not. The first floor of his home consisted of a wide spanned kitchen that had shinning silver appliances that were kept clean but not used. His floor was all hardwood with several large navy-blue area rugs. The living room had a large couch and entertainment center, a remodeling perk Naruto thought would be great to throw in if he ever "was not a bastard and decided to entertain".

The most used areas of the house were the dojo behind the sliding doors next to the stairs and Sasuke's bedroom. Even that wasn't used as much because it seemed that sleep was the only thing in the universe that had gotten the message to leave him alone.

"There have been some developments," Tsunade started.

Sasuke scoffed.

"I assure you, there hasn't," he deadpanned. Walking his now slipper covered feet over to the kitchen, he poured himself two fingers of the sake that was left on the counter from his visit with Naruto. His bones ached from their earlier sparing session and he just wanted to stare at the ceiling until the sun came up.

Tsunade nodded toward the girl who looked at the older woman with unwavering trust. Idiot.

"Show him Hinata," Tsunade ordered.

Hinata, where did he know that name from. Hinata, Hinata…

"I-I don't know...I c-can't really control it." Was the woman's answer. Sasuke ground his teeth together. If she stuttered one more time, he was going to cut his ears off.

"Don't worry, he'll help you."

He'll do what now? Sasuke thought he was about to tell Tsunade he would give both of them help to the door when he saw something flicker in the girl's features out of the corner of his eye.

His eyes followed the veins protruding out of the side of the girl's face, however, in her eyes, he didn't see what he expected to at all. Her eyes were bright red and swirling in a pattern that Sasuke had never seen before.

This woman not only possessed a Sharingan; she could activate and deactivate it, a feature he knew in his experience with Kakashi should have been impossible. Sasuke checked the alcohol content on the back of his bottle to make sure he was hallucinating; he then downed the rest his glass.

Before Sasuke even had the chance to figure out what the hell Tsunade had dropped at his doorstep, the girl started hyperventilating and Tsunade rushed to her side.

"What's wrong with her?" Sasuke asked, for all Sasuke knew this was a long-lost cousin that was on holiday when Itachi butchered their family. He felt at least obligated to know that she wasn't dying.

Tsunade was shaking the girl's shoulders lightly trying to get her to focus.

"Hinata has the ability to manifest and control the Mangekyo Sharingan at will, a skill that I thought only an Uchiha could possess, I believe it has a lot to do with once being a strong Byakugan user."

Sasuke snapped his head toward the woman's face, he could see it now, the pale skin the long hair. However, she was missing the cold arrogant demeanor.

"She's a Hyuga," Sasuke stated. It wasn't a question. A Hyuga now possessed the Sharingan, who the hell was this girl.

"Sasuke, please!"

Tsunade looked worried as the girl started to shake. Sasuke hissed, she would not throw up on his carpet, he refused to have a Naruto repeat.

Crossing the space in a short time with his long legs, he towered over Tsunade and shoved her aside. Reaching out a hand under the girl's chin, he tugged her to him so that she stumbled forward, and her head lay on his chest. Grunting, he yanked her face up, forced her to look at his swirling red eye.

He ignored the flashbacks that reminded him of Itachi as he placed her into a genjutsu that forced her to sleep.
