This will be the last one I'm posting for awhile. Hope you liked the dump, see you next time.

Chapter 6

Out of his damn mind, that's what he was.

Sasuke stared at Hinata's perfect rows of teeth and for some odd reason, his heart raced. Was he fucking Kakashi now? He was not about to get all weak-kneed and stupid for some dumb woman who wanted to throw a fucking party for doing a basic fire jutsu. A jutsu, mind you, that he remembered his illiterate cousin being able to do.

However, for some reason, that woman's smile was something he wanted to see again. It was in the way he wanted to see a good glass of sake or a Naruto free house. He appreciated it.

That was until the girl's eyes rolled into the back of her head and her body went limp.

He grunted as he caught her with his singular arm. She was fairly easy to hold up, despite the curves she possessed. She wasn't fat per se, but she had a thicker frame than most shinobi women. For example, Sakura, whose chest was flat enough to iron on.

He chuckled as he pulled the girl to his chest, securing her as he moved her inside the house. Her chakra had run out a little sooner than he had expected. He would need to work with her on chakra flow and control. Though the activation was the same, the Sharingan was completely different from the Byakugan in terms of control. It sucked and consumed the untrained user's chakra with every minute. For someone that was untrained or a non-Uchiha, or in Hinata's case both, one needed to direct and control a steady flow of chakra at all times. If the Sharingan were allowed free reign, the user would be consumed.

He moved across the room, ignoring the feeling of the woman's breast pressing into the side of his chest. Maybe he was wrong, and he did need to get laid at least every once in a while. Kakashi gave him constant lectures about the "urges of a man", how there were certain things he needed to take care of, or his body would betray him. Kakashi was full a shit, but maybe he had learned a thing or two from those filthy books he read.

He shook his head, banishing the dumb thoughts. He tossed the blue-haired woman on the couch and headed toward the kitchen. Nothing a good drink couldn't fix.

It should be about dinner time, he wondered if she would be in any position to cook any of the food they had gotten from the market. He glanced at her once more, the hair that had frayed from her braid splayed out onto the pillow she had landed on. She looked oddly serene, Sasuke envied her seeming ability to escape from the world.

Shaking his head, he left the girl to be pathetic and went to the kitchen to open one of the new bottles he got from Yen.

He would start the sparing tomorrow. He smirked, he doubted the girl knew much beyond the gentle fist or that wind rotation thing. The usefulness of that knowledge was all gone thanks to the Byakugan being burned out of her face. He grunted and downed a drink before he looked at the girl one last time. She would be out the rest of the night, he sensed almost no chakra from her, and she would need that if they were going to continue.

"Hn," he grunted in frustration as he grabbed the bottle. He had been meaning to do something ever since the girl had graced him with her company. He pulled his cloak on effortlessly with his good arm and made his way toward the door. He heard the girl whimper as he passed, and he stopped briefly and looked down at her. She was shaking slightly and muttering something as she clutched at her face.

Sasuke sighed. Moving to the left of the couch he reached toward a compartment in one of his couches that was used to the hold blankets and extra pillows for the guest he hoped he would never have. However, on times where he couldn't get Naruto back to his place, the dobe stayed on his couch until the next morning.

He tugged out the large black wool cover and shut the compartment. He grumbled as he threw it over her and made sure her head peaked out so she could breathe. He was beginning to feel as though the girl was more trouble than she was worth.

Still, Sasuke was a man of his word. It was honestly the only Uchiha value that he hadn't broken or bent. Shifting his cloak once more, he set out into the night. He needed information about the girls…incident, there were certain things that didn't add up to him. Kami, he hoped that idiot what still in his office at this time of night.

Making his way across the village, he was happy to see that it was almost deserted. Those that held stands instead of storefronts were just finishing packing up and there were only a few stores that stayed open well into the night. Those mainly consisted of bars and convenience stores for academy students and faculty that studied late.

Sasuke weaved his way through the dark cobblestone street with stealth. He could hear the crickets and the bullfrogs in the surrounding trees of the village. It was annoying and gave him a headache, making him long for the rocks and trees that were landscaped by his ancestors, even the animals knew to stay away from his district.

As he flung the door open to the Hokage building he tensed slightly out of habit. Every time he entered the building with Naruto, or for any other matter he tried to avoid with every fiber of his being, the ANBU surrounded him. Sasuke did not perceive them as a threat in the slightest. Hell, he knew who most of them were and he'd be damned if he was going to keep his shit in line just because Ino and her weird-ass husband were watching him. Still, he had his vices about being surrounded. He no longer wished to murder the "innocent" people of this village, but his instinct and chakra didn't fully know that yet. Though it had been almost three years, many still regarded him with the same shade as they had that first day. Sasuke was by no means a pacifist, but if he could let go of his revenge plot for the systematic murder of his clan, then they could pull the sticks out of their asses and stop writing checks their skills couldn't cash.

He moved purposefully through the halls. They too were empty save for a few meek-looking interns and… fuck.

"What are you doing here bastard?" Naruto questioned him loudly, in that tone that had haunted his dreams since they met.

He hadn't seen Naruto since the day he had taken him home, the day the woman was placed on his doorstep. The time that had elapsed between then and now was too short to warrant another visit.

"It's not to see you."

Normally, a person would be hurt by this, but Naruto burst into laughter. Kami, the man's self-esteem was impervious.

"Good one Sasuke, I really needed that laugh tonight."

"Hn." Sasuke grunted, attempting to move past the man.

"If you're here to see Kakashi sensei, he's not in the best of moods."

"I don't care what kind of mood that perv is in, I need to speak with him."

"Ok, I warned you." Naruto let him pass. "Oh Sasuke, before I forgot to tell you. I have officially been offered the seat as the next Hokage… it's not for a couple of years of course, but..."

Naruto's voice held that lilt to it where he wanted to be happy but wasn't too sure how. Sasuke smirked, maybe he wasn't always so self-confident.

"They'll let just anyone be Hokage these days I guess."

Naruto smirked, "Believe it."

"Don't start that shit again," Sasuke sneered at his friend, who stared back at him with a similar expression.

"I know it's not your thing, but Ten is getting a few people together to celebrate next Friday. Since it's most likely the only day I'm not going to be elbow deep in papers or wedding prep. Come by if you want."

"Hn," Sasuke grunted, he neither confirmed nor denied the social invitation. The orange-clad man chuckled and moved past Sasuke as he continued on his way. When Sasuke watched him turn the corner, he continued on his way.

"Congrats Dobe," he murmured when he knew what was out of Naruto's earshot.

Reaching his destination, Sasuke did not bother to knock as he made his way into the Rokudaime's office. This may have been an error on his part as the Hokage seemed to be finishing up something else besides paperwork, with Shizune of all people.

"Ah Sasuke, come in."

His former sensei was so nonchalant that Sasuke briefly second-guessed whether or not he had walked in on him fucking the former Hokage's advisor. However, shifts of clothes and the fact that he was pretty sure he had seen Shizune's left tit with the sharpness of his vision put everything back into perspective.

"I see you're in a better mood," Sasuke deadpanned. It was not the first time he had caught Kakashi in a compromising position with a woman, or with himself. Many liked to think that Kakashi's only vice was those damn books, but Sasuke knew better.

Kakashi smirked, deviously. "You could say that."

Shizune excused herself from the room as though nothing had happened as well. Sasuke now had the inclination that maybe his run-in with Naruto was planned and had been a tactic to stall him until their great leader could get his rocks off. He didn't know whether the action was deceitful or warranted a thank you to the yellow-haired man.

"You obviously aren't here for a threesome, so what can I do for you Sasuke."

Sasuke glared at him. He pulled two glasses from the drinking station in the office, normally reserved for guest and set down in front of the white-haired man. He must do the same crazy jutsu that Tsunade did because Sasuke swore the man had not aged a day since he first showed up late to the training grounds all those years ago, maybe that mask hid more than just his face.

Sasuke poured three fingers into each glass from the bottle he had brought.

Kakashi raised his brow, "The good stuff…you must want something interesting then."

Kakashi leaned back into his chair and raised the glass to his mouth.

"Roughly a month or so ago Tsunade sent the previous team 8, specifically Hinata formally Hyuga, on a mission. I want that mission report."

Kakashi choked on the drink in surprise and his eyes widening.

"How do you know about that?"

Sasuke narrowed his eyes at him. "How would I not know since the woman is currently living in my house."

Kakashi choked again, "That's where she is?"

Sasuke eyed him strangely, "Were you too busy looking at Tsunade's tits when she briefed you to become Hokage."

Kakashi shook his head and put the drink down on his desk. Rising from his chair, he crossed the office and made his way to a filing cabinet that was all black. Sasuke had never noticed the cabinet in all the times he had been in the Hokage's office, which was a lot considering he was a former S class criminal.

Kakashi weaved signs quickly and drawers for the cabinet appeared. Sasuke didn't bother copying the jutsu, a cabinet that was sealed with enough jutsu that even he couldn't detect it was most likely cloaked in shit that if done wrong, would leave him missing a few fingers and he was already down a few as it was.

Kakashi withdrew a folder and came to take his place, once again, behind his desk.

"It doesn't leave this office that I gave you this."

Sasuke, raised an eyebrow, but said nothing. Sasuke's long fingers thumbed over the seemingly normal sealed envelope. The chakra on it was strong, but he didn't even flinch as he lifted the tab to open the stationary.

In the envelope were stacks of pictures, at least a dozen. Sasuke's expert eyes flicked over them before his gaze snapped back to Kakashi.

"What the fuck is this?"

Sasuke's voice held steal that it had not in years. He had not been in much contact with Shino Aburame and Kiba Inuzuka, but he knew their names, their faces, and recognized their dead bodies in the photos contained in the envelope.

Kakashi looked down into his drink.

"As you would have been aware, if you hand answered any summons-"

Sasuke visibly clinched his fist, signaling Kakashi not to go there.

Kakashi held his hand up in surrender before he continued, "you would have been aware that the Allied forces agreed that Konoha would be tasked with…handling the rogue shinobi of the Sound village."

Sasuke had not been aware that Konoha had anything to do with his former residence.

"Tsunade dispatched me and some of the ANBU to deal with the rogue force. There was a rumor that the stragglers had gathered east, we just didn't know where. With the Aburame insects, Inuzuka hounds and Byakugan, former team eight was the best tracking team we've ever had."

Kakashi took a sip of his drink and looked as though he was tasked with a heavy burden. The man had just as much blood on his hand, if not more than Sasuke and he refused to offer him sympathy. He glanced back through the photographs of his dead former classmates. There were no noticeable marks or traits that Sasuke could make out. From what he could see, they had been quickly disposed of like an afterthought, like someone was getting them out of the way. The Aburame seemed to have been burned alive with some kind of fire jutsu, his bugs scattered in piles around him. Inuzuka had had a swifter death, his throat had simply been slit, his dog seemed to have attempted to save his life to no avail as he lay lifeless on his master's chest.

"The girl doesn't act like her friends are dead, she's depressing as shit even for me, but she doesn't act as though she's seen this kind of loss."

Sasuke had muttered the statement more to his own quandary, however a look at Kakashi's face told him he had stumbled onto something.

"She doesn't know, does she? What did you do?"

Kakashi was silent.

Sasuke thumbed through the last of the pictures and then paused. Hinata lay, pale as a snowflake, on what looked like a medical bed. The background was unmistakable for Sasuke, he knew what Orochimaru's lab looked like from a million miles away. Sasuke could see the marks from where they had untied the ropes from the girl's wrist, they were angry and scared and Sasuke could see the multiple lesions and bruises on her body. There were also bandages over her eyes.

"What did you do?" Sasuke didn't like repeating himself.

Kakashi eyed him with a stone face, it was a common expression when a shinobi disagreed with orders but had to follow them anyway.

"I wasn't there, but from what I hear the woman was a wreck when she finally gained consciousness. She wasn't behaving normally, and she had become…dangerous to herself."

"What the fuck is normal in this situation Kakashi? It looks to me like the team was ambushed, she was held captive for at least 24 hours and had an involuntary eye transplant. All this after her team was murdered in front of her, most likely for trying to protect her, and you did what had it erased from her mind so she could be more consolable?"

Kakashi's face, the half that Sasuke could see, held no expression; Sasuke didn't need any confirmation he was right.

Sasuke shook his head, rising to his feet. Kakashi remained seated, his hand holding his chin lightly, while the fingers of his other hand traced the brim of his glass. Sasuke scoffed at the notion that hands that could wield lighting could make such a delicate gesture. In that case, Sasuke shouldn't even be able to touch people given how much power he had wielded in certain parts of his life.

Sasuke clutched the file to him, daring Kakashi with his eyes to ask for it back. After a pregnant pause, Sasuke made to leave the room but paused when a thought entered his head.

"Those responsible, are they-" Sasuke trailed off, leaving Kakashi to fill in the blank.

There was another pause. The air between him and his former sensei had never been this charged, not even when Sasuke looked the white-haired man in the eye and turned traitor to the village.

"We have people on it," Kakashi answered back, in a short, clipped tone.

So, they were still out there. Sasuke found it interesting that a part of him wanted to find those responsible and put to use all those fine torture skills that Orochimaru had passed on to him. His hand clenched around the paper he was holding, but other than that he made no visible signs that the information had any effect on him.

He swept out of the Kakashi's office.

Sasuke knew what kind of effect this conversation would have on the current Hokage. Despite the fact that he wasn't a very good one, Kakashi was still a natural-born teacher. The white-haired man would never admit it, but Sasuke saw the protective look Kakashi had placed over himself and his fellow classmates from their first day in the academy.

Therefore, when Sasuke slammed the door behind him, he wasn't surprised when he heard the faint words.

"Tell her, I'm sorry."
