Welcome back, Readers, I hope you enjoy this next chapter in the series. This one is long.
Bobby was sitting in Berry's living room on the couch trying to keep everything together while his friends stared at him.
"Bobby," Berry spoke up," when you said she's back, who did you mean?"
Bobby took in a deep breath before telling them.
"Cameila."
Berry's eyes widened as he stood up from his seat in horror.
"Wait, isn't Cameila the name of the woman Mr. Dauterive married last year," Cameron recalled, "she then disappeared a short time later, so how is her return a bad thing?"
"If this was a simple missing person case then yeah, it would be fine but there is something you don't know about her." Bobby explained
For the next ten minutes Bobby and Berry revealed the truth about Cameila to Cameron.
"I can't believe that sweet old Mr. Dauterive married such a horrible creƤture." Cameron said
"I know this information is overwhelming..."
"Said my friend the werewolf." Cameron interrupted with a weak joke
"I still want to know how she's alive." Berry wondered
"What you mean alive?"
Bobby knew this day would come when he would have to tell someone how he and Berry defeated Cameila.
"We snuck into a construction site where we locked her up in an old footlocker, dug a hole, placed her in the hole, and filled it with cement."
Cameron was a lost for words, she couldn't believe that two of her friends not only were responsible for Cameila's disappearance but kept it a secret for almost a year. Suddenly she remembered something from last year.
"I recall Jade saying something about hunting a vampire last year but she never found it," Cameron explained, "the vampire she was hunting that was Cameila, am I right?"
Cameron took their silence as a yes, she reached into her pocket and pulled out her cellphone then began dialing a number. Before she could hit the last number Bobby grabbed the phone from her hands.
"Who were you calling?" Bobby asked
"Jade," Cameron answered, "she deserves to know that the vampire she tried to find last year is back."
"Hold on, we need to figure out how she came back before we get Jade involved." Bobby explained
"Fine, any ideas?"
"One possibility could be that burying her alive didn't kill her and she spent the last year digging herself out." Berry theorized
"Trust me, burying her alive killed her." Bobby stated
"What other explanation could there be exactly?"
Bobby thought for a moment until he remembered something that could explain everything.
"Last night on the news this guy preformed some type of spell but from what I saw nothing happened."
This both intrigued and angered Berry because the first time in Arlen news history that they show a spell being preformed he missed it, he ran to his room to grab his laptop, came back into the living room, and looked for the clip on Channel 84's website. Berry found the clip and played it while paying attention to every detail. After the clip finish Berry had some disturbing news.
"I'm afraid to say that the spell did in fact work."
"The dog was still dead at the end, so no it didn't work." Bobby argued
Berry rolled his eyes as he backed up the clip then pointed out something to Bobby.
"Does this place look familiar?" Berry asked
Bobby leaned in closer and examined the video, that is when he realized what Berry meant.
"He's standing near where we buried Cameila last year."
"Hold on, you're saying that this college professor accidentally resurrected Mr. Dauterive's wife while intending to do that to a dog?" Cameron asked hoping she was hearing everything correctly
"Plausible, or we've somehow ended up in the Walking Dead." Berry joked
"That's about the zombie apocalypse," Cameron pointed out, "I'm pretty sure Cameila is the only dead person walking around."
"I agree," Bobby spoke up, "we need to go talk to this Professor Gordon."
"I doubt he'll talk to three high school sophomores especially on a weekend." Berry stated
Bobby then though of an idea on how to contact Professor Gordon.
Meanwhile back at the Dauterive house Bill was in the living room with Cameila who was in the middle of an interview by the police to find out where she was during the last year.
"The place felt cold like concrete and metal," she described while trying to sound traumatized, "a man came into the room sometimes and from what I could hear he had a large dog accompanying him."
"Did the man ever say anything to you?" The officer asked
The interview got interrupted when Bill suddenly got up, ran into the kitchen, and drank a glass of water then returned to the couch.
"You alright, Mr. Dauterive?" The officer asked
"I'm good, just really thirsty, carry on." Bill replied
"So again, did the man anything to you?"
"He told me a couple of times that one of these days he was going to turn me into a delicious snack."
"For the dog or for himself?"
"Don't know but he also said that threat would become real if I didn't agree to become like him."
"What did he mean by that, you think?"
"I tell you what he meant." Someone said
They turned to see Dale Gribble standing in the doorway.
"Who are you?" The officer asked
"I am this town's top exterminator, bounty hunter, and since last year its top supernatural expert and from what the woman described for the last year she was held prisoner by none other than the Arlen Werewolf."
"Look, sir, the Arlen Werewolf is nothing but a hoax that being used to fuel Vergil Min's campaign."
"It real alright, there have been plenty of eye witnesses including two detectives from Dallas."
"Again, sir, this is a serious police investigation so leave your monster stories for campfires."
Dale went silent as he left Bill's house and made his way to his own house where when he saw the cost was clear ducked behind the fence and pulled out his tape recorder.
"Note to self, find evidence that the Arlen Werewolf kidnapped Cameila Dauterive." He spoke into the device however he was over heard by someone riding pass his house on their bike
(The Wizard's Chamber 1:00 p.m.)
Bobby, Berry, and Cameron entered the store and were happily greeted by Artie Booker.
"We'll if it isn't three of my favorite customers," he greeted, "you three here to check out the new book from Ilan Ezra?"
"The one on Shapeshifers is out already?" A excited Berry asked
"Indeed it is but if you want to wait a few months then you can get it for free."
"What you mean? The trio asked
"Since you three are some of my most loyal customers I'll tell you but you have to keep quiet since it isn't official yet but I'm working on getting Ilan Ezra to come to Arlen for a book signing."
Berry's eyes widened as he began jumping around as if won the lottery and a date with his favorite actress. Bobby managed to stop his jumping him by using some of his supernatural strength to plant him to the ground.
"Sorry about that, Mr. Booker." Cameron apologized
"Don't worry I'll probably act like that and more if Ezra agrees," Booker revealed," so what can I help you with today?"
"We were wondering if you had any books on resurrecting the dead?" Bobby asked
Artie grinned as he guided them to a part of the store Bobby and Cameron never been to before. The sign hanging from the ceiling labeled the section as Dark Arts and has books on such things as making potions, controlling nature, and dozens of spells. Bobby noticed a display case with an item missing.
"What book was in this case?" Bobby asked
"Booker walked over to where Bobby was and examined the display case.
"Ah yes, an interesting read that book was," he remembered, "the condition itself was near museum quality and if used correctly one could theoretically bring the dead back to life."
"You had a book on necromancy?" Berry asked stunned by this information
"That is correct, I purchased it from a collector not that long ago," Booker told, "my intentions were to have it on display only the other day I got a very generous offer from a man and I accepted it."
"The man wasn't Professor Trent Gordon was it?" Bobby asked
"Professor Gordon does frequent in here time to time but mostly he gets books on ancient religions."
"Then who bought the book?"
"The man paid in cash, there isn't anything else I can tell you."
With that part of the investigation coming up dry the trio decided head back and figure out how they were going to talk to Professor Gordon. Bobby arrived home after dropping off Berry and Cameron, he saw his dad had left to run an errand meaning he had the house to himself so he thought for when entered from the sliding glass door in the living room he got blindsided by an unknown force, he stood back up he saw Jade standing there with her gun in her hand.
"Jade, what are you doing?"
"I'm going to make you pay for what you did to Mrs. Dauterive." She explained as she aimed her gun at Bobby's chest
Bobby saw the determination in Jade's eyes and decided there was only one course of action.
"I won't lie to you," Bobby calmly stated, "I did have something to do with her disappearance but it not what you think."
Something in Jade's mind told her to pull trigger and end the monster's life but another voice told her to hear him out. She slowly lowered her gun causing Bobby to relax a bit.
"I'm willing to listen to your version of the story only because I value my friendships with Cameron and Berry, who would likely be devastated if I killed you for no reason, so you got three minutes to explain."
This act of trust brought a smile to Bobby's face as he began to tell Jade everything.
"So Mr. Dauterive married a vampire/siren hybrid last year meaning she was the vampire I failed to track down and you and Berry stopped her by burying her in concrete, now she has come back from the dead all due to some idiot with a spell book." Jade summarized what Bobby told her
"Exactly, now we're trying to find Professor Gordon and get some answers."
"Then as much as I hate to say this I know where you can find him."
"You do, that will be great." Bobby shouted
"I'm only doing this because if you're telling the truth then she has killed more people than you but if you're trying to save your own tail then you're dead."
"I have nothing to fear, so where can we find him?"
"My brother Marcel took a course taught by Professor Gordon and during Christmas last year he informed us that Gordon loves hanging out at the coffee shop near the college after classes and on the weekend."
The two of them agreed that the four of them to meet at the coffee shop tomorrow. Bobby couldn't believe that Jade agreed to work with him again which got him hoping that this will help her come to her senses.
(10:49 p.m.)
The house was silent as Hank and Bobby slept comfortably in their beds.
"Help me." A voice shouted as it pounded on the door
After a few more shouts Hank and Bobby were up and both dashed towards the kitchen where they saw Bill standing at the door. Hank quickly let him in then noticed red stains on his robe, shirt, and around his mouth.
"Bill, what's wrong?" Hank asked worried about his friend
"You have to help me, please." Bill cried
What is going on with Bill? Will Bobby and his friends track down Professor Gordon? Stay Tuned to find out.
