On the ground the news crew had begun filming and leading this breaking story was none other than Nancy Hicks-Gribble.
"Good Evening, Arlen," Nancy greeted her viewers before a shoot of the griffin was shown, "what you see here isn't a CGI creation for a movie but a real life monster."
The camera zoomed in showing the beast trying to fly out of the path of the light.
"We have to stop them." Bobby said
"I'll do that," Greg volunteered, "you two get out of here."
Despite them wanting to help they both better than to expose the Arlen Werewolf and a Crusader on the evening news. Splitting up Bobby and Jade headed back to his car while Stokes went to stop the media. We return to Nancy who was at this was about to get a break in the story.
"Now here to identify this mysterious beast is my husband, local exterminator and monster expert, Dale Gribble."
Dale proudly walked into the shot with a powerful rifle in hand.
"First I got to say it's really awesome to finally be interviewed by my lovely wife." Dale informed
"Aw, Sug," a blushing Nancy said, "can you tell us what this horrible beast is exactly?"
"The creature you see is known a Hippogriff," Dale misinformed the viewers, "and this particular one is responsible for the abduction of Allison Garfield, who is unconscious in my van so please call an ambulance."
"How dangerous is this Hippottergrif? Nancy asked while butchering the name
"Very, but one shot through the skull with this high caliber sniper rifle will do the trick, "so I suggest to the viewers with weak stomachs or impressionable children, change the channel."
Dale, with a bit of showboating took aim at the Griffin.
"STOP!"
Dale, Nancy, and the news crew turned to see Greg running up to them.
"Turn off the light," he shouted, "the griffin's business here it's done, please just let it go."
"That monster kidnapped the second woman by best friend has ever cared about." Dale reminded
"I'll be honest I don't know the whole story but you just have to trust me." Greg pleaded
Dale lowered his gun; Greg smiled in relief knowing he had helped into sparring the creature's life. Suddenly before he could react Dale had lifted his gun, took aim and fired. Everyone watched as the bullet struck the monster's head killing it instantly. At the Cadillac Bobby and Jade heard the loud gunshot.
"NO!" Bobby cried out before running to the source
"Bobby!" Jade shouted after him for he was still in his wolf form
Back at the opening everyone watched as the griffin plummeted to he ground. Greg immediately took off to find the body.
"Wingo." Dałe cheered as he stood in triumph
His moment was short lived when someone knocked him down. Looking up Dale smiled when he saw Bobby standing above him.
"Seeking revenge for your fallen comrade eh, Werewolf?"
"That Griffin was innocent." Bobby stated
As Dale stood back up Nancy motioned for the cameraman to capture this moment.
"Allison Garfield is the innocent one in all this," Dale corrected, "your just trying to cover for your buddy."
"The Griffin was a pawn, it was brought here as part of someone's sick scheme."
"Yeah, yours."
Bobby let out a beastly growl as he grabbed Dale by the throat. Everyone watched in horror as the Arlen Werewolf began squeezing Dale's throat.
"Please Stop." Nancy begged
Apart of Bobby wanted to stop but yet wanted to get rid of the pest that was Dale.
Before he could finish the deed an arrow struck him in his left shoulder. This caused him to drop Dale to the ground. Then he along with the cameraman turned to see Jade standing by the trees with her bow. Bobby took this as a means of escape as he towards Jade who in turn ran away in order to make it look like a chase. Nancy knelt down to the ground and cradled Dale in her arms.
"Sug, you alright?" Nancy asked
"You kidding, I not only saved this town from a hippogriff and you helped me confirm the existence of the Arlen Werewolf, so in other words I'm fantastic.
(Hill Residence 9:35 PM)
The drive home from the tea kettle was anything but quiet for Jade had berated Bobby for his actions against Dale. They proceed to argue when they got out of the car.
"You not only revealed yourself to the town but you may have expose me was well." Jade stated
"I'm sorry, I just snapped." Bobby defended
"I understand but I'm warning you; do that again and the arrow or bullet will go through your heart."
"Jade, Bobby!"
They glanced over to see Cameron running up to them.
"You find my mum?" She asked
"Yes, she's fine but Mr. Gribble got a hold of her," Jade informed, "we passed an ambulance along the way, so I'm sure she's getting treated."
Tears formed in Cameron's eyes as she roped both her friends in for a group hug.
(11:18 AM Heimlich County Medical Center)
The breaking news story about the incident at Tea Kettle infected the town like a virus. Everyone was talking about, radio shows, newspapers, and it had even stretched to the news outlets in Houston and Dallas. The only good thing to come out of it was his dad being released from jail; which the moment he was out he came straight to the hospital to see Allison, who was lucky for all she needed were some bandages, an IV and some rest. It wasn't a surprise that Cameron showed up but it was who brought her.
"Detective Stokes, what a surprised." Hank said as he stood up from the chair next to Allison's bed
"Please, it's just Greg," Greg insisted, "I was coming to check on Allison so I figured I would bring Cameron here myself."
"Well since your here I would like to personally thank you for saving Allison."
Hank extended his hand which Greg gladly accepted and the two men shook hands. Then a low moan caught everyone's attention as they looked towards the hospital bed where they saw that Allison was regaining consciousness.
"Mum," Cameron shouted as she ran over to her mother, "thank heavens you're alright."
Allison opened her and saw Cameron, Hank, Greg, and Bobby standing around her bed.
"Wasonasong." Allison weakly muttered before falling asleep
"Wait, Ted Wasonasong, he's behind this whole thing?" Greg wondered
"Allison had been through a lot," Hank stated, "you can ask her some more questions when she wakes up."
"I would but I'm just a P.I," Greg informed, "I will however pass it into the authorities."
While the two men were talking; Cameron walked over to Bobby.
"I know I said this already but thanks for saving my mother."
"You're welcome," Bobby replied with a smiled, "I just wish I knew why Ted went through all this trouble especially this close to Election Day."
"Well if you're going after him I want in." Cameron offered
"I'm going to let the police handle this one; besides the Arlen Werewolf is already all over the news."
"At least you and Jade are friends again,right?"
Bobby didn't respond, instead he walked out of the room. In another part of hospital Jade was visiting her father Herve, who was still in a coma. She was sitting next to his bed reading the news involving the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs. This scene brought a smile to Bobby's face as he watched from the door.
"If you continue to spy on me like this I'm going to file a restraining order." Jade joked before motioning Bobby to come in
"Sorry, I didn't want to interrupt." Bobby apologized as he approached the bed and placed his hands on the rails
"Somedays I wonder if he actually hear me like they say all coma patients can," Jade said, "except my dad doesn't have a soul."
His grip on the bed rails tightened as the guilt of being the cause of that predicament overcame him.
"I'm trying to find the bastard responsible; Berry and I have been doing our best to track him down but our resources are limited."
Bobby glanced down as he felt something touch his hands. Jade's right hand was gently resting on top of his left hand. He then looked at her face and for the first time in nearly half a year was graced with kindness.
"I'm sorry I treated you so badly these last few months," Jade said hoping Bobby will forgive her, "I understood why you were hesitant to tell me after all I had major secret myself."
"That was quite a doozy." Bobby said causing them both to giggle
"True, anyways I had a lot of time to think especially after our latest battle and I decided that it time to stop fighting with you and fight along with you instead."
"Jade, I've been waiting months for this moment."
"I do have no condition, no secrets."
"Fine, the jacket I gave you belonged to a now dead Greek goddess." Bobby confessed
"Well she had good taste."
While Bobby and Jade began to repair friendship we go to the main campaign office of Vergil Min who along with campaign advisor Selena Raptis were watching a clip of last night's news.
"Thanks to Mr. Gribble's wife the town has video evidence of the werewolf's existence," Selena informed, "which has greatly put you only a few points ahead of Wasonasong."
"Great, but we both know the numbers won't matter for much longer," Vergil stated as he picked up the remotes and fast forward the clip, "besides we have a new problem that needs addressed."
Selena returned her attention to the TV where Vergil had paused it on a brief shot of a masked figure.
"Wait, is that a..." Selena began to ask
"Yes, Selena, it appears we a Crusader in town."
"While I recognize this as a problem I suggest we focus on the election."
"Agreed, I believe with this footage that it's time for some slight alterations."
(Two days later, Channel 84 News Room.)
"Good Afternoon, Arlen, I'm Nancy Hicks-Gribble with this breaking news," Nancy addressed the viewers, "mayoral candidate Ted Wasonasong has been arrested."
Footage of Ted being escorted out of his house was shown.
"A search was warranted after evidence implicating him in the abduction of Allison Garfield."
"I'm being set up," Ted in the footage shouted, "I don't even know where the Tea Kettle is I'm being framed."
The footage ended with Ted being shoved into a police car.
"Sadly this means Ted Wasonasong will be disqualified from the mayoral race thus leaving Vergil Min unopposed."
Like the episode titled suggest this was a game changer. Vergil is running unopposed, The Arlen Werewolf has gone public. Then on the lighter side Bobby and Jade are friends again. Now I know I'm taking forever with this story and I hate that I am.
