Disclaimer: I do not own King Of The Hill
Before we begin I like to inform you that I realized that part 3 was a little short for my liking so I combined it with part 4. Now Episode 5 will have a total of 4 parts. Enjoy
The next day went by in almost a blur. Coach Thompson nearly lost his job for the janitor found him in his office two days ago on the floor hungover and laying next to a pile of his own vomit. If it was any other member of the school's staff they would've been fired before the school day began, but with the big game tomorrow Thompson was let off with a warning. This news made history class more entertaining than usual for Miss Bloodworth talked about various times in history when a person got away with crimes just because they were important, or they knew somebody that was, this deviated from the subject of the Cold War they've been covering the past few days. Then if things couldn't get more intense Principal Sanders announced that Mayor Min would be attending the game where he would make a short speech before it began.
The only upside was that Allison had been released from the hospital. Hank, Bobby, and Cameron picked her up from the hospital then went to their damaged home to get anything they could for their time at the Hill's. For Allison and Cameron, the move went easier than expected, especially since Berry and Jade had offered to help. Hank tidied up his den for the Garfield's to stay in, this included taking all the larger stuff from the closet and storing it in the garage. After their clothes were put away Bobby, Berry, and Jade began helping Cameron unpack her things.
"Where do you want this picture of the Queen?" Berry asked holding up a picture of an older lady
"That's my grandmum." Cameron said
"The queen is your grandmother?" Jade asked in shock
"No, that's my dad's mum, who I dearly love, is in no way at all royalty." Cameron corrected clearing the misunderstanding
"Damn, for a minute I thought you could arrange for me to get knighted." a disappointed Berry said as he placed the picture on the dresser.
"I can't believe I'm saying this but enough goofing around," Bobby said, "you can be disappointed by Cameron's family tree later."
"Hey, if things continue to go great then the Hills might become part of that tree." Cameron informed slightly offended
"I don't have any problems with your family, unless one of them were secretly Jack the Ripper."
Cameron rolled her eyes before calling Bobby an idiot and hitting him with a small pillow then Bobby hit her with a stuffed purple dragon. Berry and Jade watch as Bobby and Cameron continued to bicker. Jade tried to conceal her laugher with her right hand. This proved to be a feeble attempt as a loud chuckle escaped.
"What's so funny?" Bobby asked
"I have three siblings, so trust me when I say you two are already fighting like a brother and sister." Jade explained as she held back he laughter
Soon they were all laughing which was overheard by Allison and Hank in the kitchen. Allison had finished unpacking her things into the den and was now enjoying a cup of coffee with Hank at the kitchen table.
"Sounds like the kids are having fun." Hank assumed as he took a sip
"Reminds me of when Cameron was younger and invited her friends over to our flat for the night." Allison said
When she picked up her mug a sharp pain struck her wrist causing her to drop it on the table. She glanced down at her bandaged wrist from where the shackles had dug into her skin. Luckily the mug didn't fall far so only a small amount of coffee spilled out. Hank got up to grab a towel to clean the mess up.
'Sorry, the doctors warned me that I might experience some sudden surges of pain for several weeks."
"Don't worry, the important thing is that you're safe and Cameron has her mother back."
"All before the big game."
"How you know about that?" Hank asked
"Almost everyone in the hospital was talking about it the last couple days."
"I was actually hoping we could go if you felt like it."
"Yeah, I should be, I've always loved football."
"Really?"
Allison smiled as she loved the fact there were things about her that Hank had yet to discover.
"Six years before I meet Nathan, my now ex-husband; I spent a year after getting my degree in Psychology working aboard for a small institute in New York," Allison said, "anyways three months in I tag long with a friend of mine and her boyfriend to a New York Jets game."
"Don't tell me you're a Jets fan?" Hank pleaded
"I was for three years because the boyfriend was a sports writer and he got us passes to meet the players," Allison continued, "after the game he was able to pull one of the players aside and get an interview, then the whole he noticed me and I noticed him cliché happened and for the next three years I was Roger Cameron's girlfriend."
"Roger Cameron, he played for the Cowboys for two years." Hank said
"We broke up after he got traded to Dallas," Allison revealed, "I still loved him though."
"I assume Cameron is named after him then?"
Allison nodded.
That moment Cameron ran into the kitchen. She walked over to the fridge and grabbed four bottles of juice.
"How's the unpacking going, Cammy?" Allison asked
"A bit behind, Berry keeps mistaking our family members for famous English people."
Allison and Hank smiled as Cameron returned to the den where they could clearly hear her shouting at Berry.
"That's my mother's uncle, not Ian McKellen." Cameron shouted
(Arlen High 10:30 pm)
Cyrus was standing on the center yard line of the field where the big game will take place tomorrow night. He smiled, satisfied that all his hard work was going to pay off. In less than twenty-four hours there would be twenty-nine new souls residing in Hell. Cyrus suddenly sense somebody else there which was confirmed as somebody clapped as they slowly approached.
"Surprise you're here, Iago."
Cyrus turned to face Iago, who was still in the body of Xavier Chance. Iago snapped his fingers and one by one the field lights illuminated the entire field.
"I came to see how everything was going." Iago explained
"Great, that ape has no clue that he signed up the team and himself for enteral damnation," Cyrus bragged, "best part is that Bobby Hill kid you mentioned has no clue what's going on."
"He's been distracted by Vergil Min and his anti-supernatural movement."
Cyrus chuckled; "I'd love to be around when the werewolf discovers the truth about him."
"Until then, Cyrus, I would keep your distance," Iago advised, "Bobby's ability to sense the supernatural is still in its infant stage, but if he gets close enough to you he might get a feeling something is off."
"Don't worry, I'll be on the field away from him," Cyrus pointed out, "I've been waiting over thirty years to get my hands on the Mavericks, after all you took away my chance when they went to state in the seventies."
"Don't pretend that you didn't know we were ordered to keep away from that game."
"I remember, but that didn't stop your precious Zoma from interfering," Cyrus recalled, "all she did was snap some stupid running back's ankle. "
"She had orders." Iago stated
"Please, everyone knows she's your favorite, I bet it broke your heart when she turned on you."
Cyrus then found himself on his knees grabbing his throat in sheer pain. Iago, whose hand was in a grip like position; walked towards Cyrus. He watched as the topaz mist filled Cyrus's eyes as the demon continued struggling to breathe.
"You need me." were the only words Cyrus could get out
Iago stared at him for a bit then released him from his supernatural grasp.
"You're right," Iago agreed, "however, if you fail or mention Zoma again I'll finish what I started."
Cyrus rubbed his throat as he stood up. He went to say something to Iago only to discover he already left.
(Friday)
Maverick fever had spread across Arlen as quick as the Black Plague through Europe. The town was decorated with the team colors. Several businesses hung up banners showing their support for the Mavericks. Not absent of Maverick spirit were the hallways of Arlen High, students had decorated them with school colors along with the names of the players and their jersey number covered the walls. The said players had donned their jerseys while the cheerleaders wore their uniforms.
"With the way everyone is acting you think we're already going to state." Bobby who was walking with Berry commented
"I can't blame them," Berry said, "Arlen has been killing it this season, the Mustangs should go ahead and forfeit."
"Yeah, then maybe the team we face at State will do the same." Bobby joked
They both laughed which distracted them seeing where they were going. Then Bobby bumped into someone and that person spilled the coffee they were drinking. To Bobby's shock it was Coach Thompson who not only looked angry but also drunk telling from the redness in his eyes.
"Sorry, Coach." Bobby apologized
"That's a poor excuse, Hank." Thompson said mumbling some of the words
The boys could smell alcohol on his breathe. Bobby having an enhanced sense of smell got the worse of it.
"That's Bobby Hill; Hank Hill is his dad." Berry corrected
"I know, he's the bastard that cost us state."
"Maybe you should go see the nurse," Bobby suggested, "because if Principal Sanders sees you he'll fire you."
"It's a good thing you're not on my team," Jacob said ignoring Bobby's suggestion, "you'd probably cost us tonight's game like your old man did at State."
Bobby and Berry could see that some of the students were starting to stare and some were recording it on their phones.
"Coach, you need to go to your office." Berry pleaded
"Don't tell me what to do." Jacob shouted
He tossed his mug at Berry, but Bobby pulled him out of the way just in time to avoid it. The students watching also dodged it as the mug smashed against a nearby locker.
"That was my favorite mug."
Jacob became more enraged as he went to punch Berry. Bobby stepped in front of the drunken Jacob and was more than ready to take the hit for Berry. As Bobby prepared for the strike someone grabbed Jacob's shoulder and pulled him away. The boys looked then smiled when they saw it was Miss Bloodworth who had saved them.
"That's it, Jacob, I stood aside long enough," Alea snapped, "I don't care if your brother-in-law is the principal there is no one who can protect you after getting drunk and attempting to assault two students."
"You can't prove anything." Jacob retorted
"Look around, these students got all of it on camera."
Jacob scanned the hallway and even with his blurred vision he saw she was right.
"Plus, I would bet my pension that you gave your coffee the Irish treatment."
Bobby discreetly took a sniff and indeed he not only smelled beer, but whisky.
"Two choices, Jacob, you can either quietly walk with me to Sander's office or I can drag your drunken ass there myself." Alea stated her ultimatum
"No need to get Sanders involved."
Alea, Bobby, Berry and the other students in the hall saw Cyrus standing behind the drunken coach with a hand on Jacob's back.
"Jacob here simply needs to rest in his office." Cyrus stated
"He's needs to leave school grounds," Alea argued, "he's a drunk and tried to attack Bobby and Berry."
Cyrus turned his attention to the two boys. He stared at Berry for a second without then glanced over at Bobby who noticed that Cyrus seemed nervous when they made eye contact.
"Perhaps Berry and Mr. Hill should be the ones to leave."
"How you know my last name is Hill?" Bobby asked
Cyrus realized he had screwed up, then something came to him.
"Thompson here told me how you assaulted Joseph Gribble the other day," Cyrus replied, "you fit his description perfectly."
"I can't believe your defending him." Alea said with disgust in her voice
"It will be the last time he does."
As if they magical appeared from thin air Mayor Vergil Min and his assistant Selena walked up. Some of the students continued to capture everything on their phones while others whispered to each other.
"What you are doing here?" a now nervous Cyrus asked
"As your new mayor I thought it be appropriate to visit the coach before he had to get everything ready for the game." Vergil explained
"Well, Jacob's not feeling well at the moment," Cyrus lied, "he was on his way to his office to rest."
"Sir, Coach Thompson is obviously drunk, and from what I overheard he in fact tried to assault two students, so I'm afraid he's suspended from coaching until he sobers up and gets the help he needs."
This statement seemed just the thing to snap Jacob out of his drunken state.
"You don't have the authority," Jacob shouted, "I'm this miserable teams only hope to win tonight."
"Once I talk to your brother-in-law he'll say the exact same thing."
Jacob stormed off with Cyrus right behind him. Once the two were gone Vergil turned his attention towards the teacher and the two boys next to him.
"Thank you." Alea said with gratitude
"I've dealt with drunks before," Vergil stated, "if anyone is a hero it's you Miss…"
"Alea Bloodworth."
Vergil held out his hand which Alea grabbed and they began to shake hands. Bobby stared as one of the best teachers he ever had was shaking hands with the man that had unknowingly put a price on his head. The next thing he knew Vergil was shaking Berry's hand after his best friend introduced himself. Then time seemed to slow as Vergil turned towards him and offered his hand. Bobby hesitated at first but with everyone watching he slowly yet cautiously grabbed then shook his hand.
"Bobby Hill." Bobby greeted
"Bobby Hill," Vergil repeated as it was familiar, "son of Hank Hill, corrected."
"If you're referring to the guy who punched you than yeah."
Vergil chuckled.
"Honestly I would've done the same," Vergil admitted, "Selena here actually gathered a lot of information on him to analyze if he would be a future threat."
"He's not the Hill you should be worried about." Bobby thought to himself
Selena then whispered something into Vergil's ear which to his surprise wasn't in English.
"I'm sorry I have to cut this short," Vergil apologized, "after breaking the news about the coach to Principal Sanders I have a full day scheduled until tonight."
Bobby watched as Vergil and Selena headed off towards Sander's office.
"That was intense," Bloodworth stated, "hopefully they find a replacement coach before tonight or else Arlen will be disqualified."
"Too bad Coach Thompson fired his assistant coach." Bobby said
"That's probably why that Cyrus guy defended him so much." Berry guessed
(Thompson's office)
Papers, pens, and other generic office supplies were begin hurled around the office by an angry and still drunk Jacob.
"Damn that man," Jacob screamed throwing his stapler against the wall, "after I voted for him he goes and betrays me."
"Relax, Jacob," Cyrus calmly said, "Sanders won't find another coach in time and you'll still get to honor our agreement."
Thompson gave Cyrus an icy stare before opening his desk drawer and pulling out the contract.
"You and your contract can go straight to hell." Jacob said before ripping the contract into pieces
Cyrus, who up to this point in their partnership had kept his cool even when Thompson filled himself with so much a beer that a keg would've been jealous. That all changed the moment Jacob ripped up the contract.
"Do you know how long I've been doing this job?" Cyrus asked rhetorically
"I don't care," Jacob blurted out, "I know that I'm going to throw you under the bus."
"I beg your pardon."
"Yeah, I'm going to tell my brother-in-law that you forced me to drink all that beer hoping I get fired so you can have my job."
Jacob ranted on about his so called brilliant plan, giving Cyrus plenty of time to come up with one of his own. That's when he saw in the corner ten arrows laying out in the open. Cyrus smiled as he carefully used his left hand to levitate the arrows out of the corner with out Jacob noticing. He then whirled around his index finger causing the arrows to form a circle that rotated in time with his finger.
"So, get your sorry ass out of my office," a crimson faced Jacob ordered, "and then I'll see you in hell."
"Oh, I'll see you in hell," Cyrus remarked loving the irony within Jacob's words, "sooner than you think."
With a flick of his finger one of the arrows struck Jacob in his arm causing to scream in agony before another struck his knee. He placed his hand on his desk to lift himself up when another arrow pierced his pinning it to the desk.
"What is happening?" Jacob cried
Cyrus chuckled as he approached Jacob with his topaz mist eyes exposed. Jacob's skin became pale from fear as he saw seven arrows hovering around Cyrus.
"Retribution for double crossing with a demon." Cyrus answered before hurling the remaining arrows thus putting Jacob out of his misery
A lot has happened in this chapter. Allison and Cameron moving into the Hill's, Vergil Min has now meet both sides of Bobby Hill, and Cyrus has lost his patience. Could this make Cyrus a bigger threat, will Vergil Min figure out Bobby's secret, and will the Mavericks beat the Mustangs? Stay Tuned. P.S I'm currently working on a Werewolf Of The Hill Thanksgiving special which will take place between episode 6 and 7. I already have episode 6 done, so I'm hoping to have it up before Thanksgiving.
