I hoped you all had a great Halloween. On the off chance you didn't here's a little treat.
Cyrus was now in serious trouble. He had just killed Coach Jacob Thompson and had disposed of the body. That fortunately was the easy part. However, he had promised Iago twenty nine new souls after the game tonight. Coach Thompson soul was already in hell for he was already a horrible person, that left Cyrus needing a way to get the players to unknowingly once again sign over there souls. That's when an idea came to Cyrus.
(Miss Bloodworth's classroom)
Alea was up in front of the room writing something on the white board. While some of the students were paying attention, others were talking about what happened in the hallway. Bloodworth turned around then whistled getting the attention of the whispering students
"I know what happened in the hall was entertaining," Alea admitted, "right now I'd very much would like to discuss President Regan's Star Wars program and no, Harrison Ford wasn't involved, as far as we know."
This got a giggle from some of the students. Suddenly the door burst open and Cyrus walked in.
"Have you heard of knocking?" Alea asked clearly irked
"Yeah, I need to see Joseph Gribble for a moment," Cyrus said, "we'll be right outside the door."
Alea agreed and allowed Joseph to leave her classroom. Cyrus moved Joseph to the wall across from the door to avoid anyone eavesdropping. What he didn't know was that Bobby Hill was in the classroom.
"I'm sure you heard about Coach Thompson." Cyrus said
"Yeah, I heard he got fired." Joseph replied
"Yes, a huge misunderstanding, Miss Bloodworth and Bobby Hill kept provoking him until he snapped."
"What, first me and now the coach, I know Bobby's jealous that's he's not on the team, but how did Miss Bloodworth get involved?"
"No, clue, I guess they're alike in the fact they're both horrible people," Cyrus stated, "anyways I'm quickly going around and gathering all the player's signatures on a petition forcing Principal Sanders to give the coach his job back before tonight's game."
"Doesn't a petition take time?"
"Believe me, Joseph, I can be extremely persuasive."
Cyrus held out a clipboard that held a paper with a list of names underneath another piece that was folded over. Joseph wasted no time in signing the suppose petition.
"Thank you, now get in there and learn about the Star Trek or Wars or whatever."
Miss Bloodworth had gone on with her lesson when Joseph came back in. He stared coldly at Bobby as he returned to his seat. Bobby sense something was wrong, he began to think that there was more to Cyrus then he thought.
(Hill residences 4:00 pm)
The Cadillac pulled into its usual spot in the driveway, Berry had ridden home with Bobby, Jade, and Cameron for all four of them were going to the game tonight. When they all got out they were greeted by Hank, who had some amazing news. It turns out that Hank was called earlier that day by Principal Sanders who asked if he was interested in coaching the team at tonight's game and possibly the state game if they win.
"That's great, Mr. Hill." Jade said
"I can't think of anyone better." Cameron added
"The Mustangs don't stand a chance." Berry shouted
Bobby was silent.
"What's wrong, shocked that your dad gets a chance to redeem himself?" Hank joked
"No, it'd be great if you could help Arlen possibly win State by coaching the team," Bobby stated, "it's just I'm starting to suspect that there's something unusual going on."
Hank thought back to his conversation with Sanders. He was honored that he was asked to coach the team, but there were plenty of others who would've been a better choice. He mainly thought the only reason Sanders chose him was simply do to everyone else being busy. Then again things haven't been that simple since the supernatural showed up.
"Bobby, if you believe there's something wrong with this Cyrus guy then I believe you," Hank said, "but promise me you'll try to stay out of trouble until after the game."
"I'll try, who knows, I could be wrong and he's just another shady sports guy."
Hank nodded before he headed back towards the house to get ready.
"What are you thinking, Bobby?" Berry asked
"I'm not sure," Bobby admitted, "I overheard Cyrus telling Joseph as he was signing a petition to reinstate Coach Thompson how persuasive he could be, yet Sanders called my dad to coach."
"Maybe Sanders realized his brother-in-law wasn't a decent person to have around the school." Jade guessed
"He also said he had gathered the other players signatures."
"He would need more than just the signatures of the players to get Thompson his job back." Cameron informed
Bobby thought hard, he remembered how Cyrus was protective of Thompson earlier today. Then he thought back to the past few days recalling various moments trying to piece together anything that could help him figure out who or quite possible what is Cyrus. Suddenly he remembered something important, but if he was right then things were only going to get worse.
"I hope I'm wrong, but remember how my dad said Thompson was the worst coach in Arlen High History?" Bobby asked
"Yeah, the team had lost more games then they won." Berry recalled
"Then this year they were incredible." Cameron added
"Only after Thompson hired Cyrus." Jade said as if she knew where this was leading
"I hate to say it, but I think Cyrus is a demon."
(Hill Residence-Bobby's room)
The four teens had gathered in Bobby's room to further discuss the revelation they had about Cyrus.
"I know it sounds crazy," Bobby said, "it just makes sense if you think about it."
"It's not crazy." Berry disagreed, "it adds up."
"A losing football team is the perfect victim for a demon." Cameron stated
"A demon who may know Iago," Jade said with hope, "maybe he can get my father's soul back."
"We need proof that he's a demon first," Bobby suggested, "like I said he could be another scumbag."
"He's spent a lot of time at the school," Jade point out, "demons create an area of hot spots like how ghost leave cold spots, if we go to the school and if we find any in places he's been then that's the proof we need."
"Good idea, but hundreds of people are in that school each day," Cameron said, "how will we know if we find one?"
"Normal heat appears on sensors as blotches, hot spots on the other hand resemble a silhouette of a human body."
"Like a thermal husk." Berry guessed
"Yes."
"Okay, where do we get a thermal sensor?" Bobby wondered
They soon found themselves in Jade's room where she had brought out her Crusader gear. She smiled as she pulled out several pair of thermal sensing googles.
"Got anything that can help us fight him, because Iago got hit by my dad's truck at full speed and he just brushed it off." Bobby said
"They taught me a spell that supposed to paralyze a demon, although I've never seen it done in person." Jade replied
"Well, write it down for if were going to solve this mystery we better get going."
"Luckily my dad took Cameron's mom with him, so she should be safe, so as my grandpa use to say, let's roll."
(Arlen Hight 6:30 pm)
The gang had arrived and entered the school. They each had a pair of goggles on their heads which were currently deactivated. They were all dressed in the same clothes they wore that day, even Jade who for once decided not to wear her Crusader uniform. The school was dark for no one was supposed to be there; luckily, they were smart enough to bring flashlights.
"The game starts in half hour," Jade informed, "if Cyrus is a demon and he's planning to do something at the game we need to stop him right here."
"She's right," Bobby agreed, "were the only ones that can stop him, so let's split up, gang."
"What?" the others shouted
"Sorry, I've always wanted to say that." Bobby chuckled
"You're an arse." Cameron said as she smacked his arm
"He might be your brother someday so get use to it." Jade said as they began walking down the hall
"Said the future Mrs. Hill." Cameron muttered under her breath
They scanned every inch of the hallway with their thermal goggles with no signs of any hot spots.
"Hold up," Bobby shouted, "this is where Berry and I were earlier today."
He quickly looked around and smiled when he saw a human shape hot spot in the very place Cyrus was standing.
"I can't believe it, I was right." Bobby said shocked that his theory was true
"He's a demon, that doesn't explain why he had the players sign a petition." Berry stated
"Unless they were signing over their souls." Cameron thought out loud
"You think Thompson knows Cyrus is a demon?" Jade wondered
"Let's check his office." Bobby suggested
(6:50 pm)
They arrived at Thompson's office which like every other door in the school was locked.
"I've got this one." Berry said as he pulled out a small case
He knelt in front of the door, opened the case and took out what was revealed as a lock picking kit. Within seconds Berry had the door unlocked then opened it
"Where did you learn to pick locks?" Jade asked amazed by Berry's skill
"I figure every team needs a locksmith," Berry explained, "I've been practicing for months for a moment like this one."
Bobby entered the room first and turned on the light. The first thing he noticed was the lingering smell of beer in the air.
"Damn, no body light a match." Bobby gagged
"With all this paper this room will burn as quick as dry grass." Jade commented as she saw loose paper everywhere
The four then searched the room trying to find anything that could help them discover Cyrus's plan.
"I understand helping Thompson win games, but he was suspended so why stick around?" Bobby thought as he carefully searched
"Hey!" Cameron called out
The others stop what they were doing to see Cameron holding up several pieces of ripped up paper. She cleared a spot on the desk and thankfully there were only four large pieces, this made putting them together simpler. The pieces formed what looked like a contract. They each quickly skimmed over it and were shocked by what they read.
"How could Thompson sign over not only his soul but the team's?" Jade who was mortified asked
"He's a drunk, Cyrus probably waited until Thompson had his fair share of alcohol then tricked him into signing it." Bobby theorized
"Magnificent," a voice said followed by clapping, "absolutely magnificent."
The four turned and were shocked for it wasn't Cyrus who caught them, it was Iago.
Thus concludes Episode Five. After months of trying to track him down the Wolf Pack has now come face to face with Iago. Will they defeat both Cyrus and Iago and possibly save Jade's dad? Can Hank lead the Arlen Mavericks to victory? All these questions will be answered in Episode 6 the second part of the Mid-Season finale. Stay Tuned.
