Everyone couldn't believe that Iago had somehow broke free from the spell.
"How." Jade wondered
"That spell is only effective for a few minutes not hours," Iago pointed out, "you're not the first Crusader who has tried to use that spell on me."
Iago turned his attention from Jade to Cyrus, who knew that Iago wasn't there to help him against the werewolf and his friends.
"Iago, please," Cyrus pleaded as he backed away, "I can still pull this off."
"When Zoma crossed me, I banished her back to hell," Iago said, "as for you my friend won't be as lucky."
Cyrus tried to beg for his life, Iago ignored him as he lifted him up in the air then flung him off toward the field. The crowd screamed when Cyrus landed on the field thus causing the players to stop in their tracks to see what was going on. Cyrus stood up groaning in pain.
"What the hell is going on?" Hank shouted as he walked onto the field
He glanced over, what he saw sent fear into every part of his body. Iago had walked onto the field after giving Hank a nod of acknowledgment.
"Iago, please, it's not too late," Cyrus continued to plea, "I helped you collect the soul of Julius Caesar; why don't you return the favor?"
"As with Caesar you stabbed me in the back," Iago stated, "I warned you against failing."
"I didn't fail," Cyrus denied before pointing at the score board, "they're in the lead, they can win and then we can collect their souls like Thompson unknowingly agreed."
"The coach sold our souls?" A random Maverick asked
Iago without looking, flung the player towards the Mustangs' sideline where he landed on the coach. This started a panic as spectators fled the stands.
"Hey, that's merchandise." Cyrus screamed before charging at Iago
Among the fleeing spectators were Vergil Min and Selena who were behind their bodyguards fighting through the crowd.
"Can't believe Iago is showing his face here." Vergil shouted over the screaming crowd
"You think he'd be busy making another Dwyane Johnson a movie star." Selena agreed
"First chance we get I need to slip away."
"Understood."
Back at the demonic fight Cyrus and Iago had exchanged in an old fashion fist fight. Iago had the advantage at first, but Cyrus grabbed the shoulder Jade had stabbed and sent a surge of pain through Iago's arm. Bobby, Jade, Cameron, and Berry appeared from the shadows after nearly everyone had fled.
"I can't believe I'm saying this, but I need to help Iago." Bobby said as he transformed
"Bobby, wait," Jade shouted pulling him back, "take this with you."
She handed him her knife, wished him luck, then watched as he charged into the battle. Hank who had managed to reach Allison saw Bobby run onto the field.
"Well, Bobby, I guess you finally found your place on the football field." Hank thought before escorting Allison away
"Where's Cameron?" Allison shouted as she looked around for her daughter
"Don't worry, Bobby will make sure she's safe." Hank promised
Cyrus was chuckling for he had overpowered Iago. Suddenly he was blindsided as something tackled him. This gave Iago the chance to get back on his feet.
"Thank you."
"I'm not doing this for you," Bobby growled, "you better honor your end of the deal."
"Wait until the others learn about your friendship with the Guardian Wolf." Cyrus threated having recovered from the tackle
Bobby growled as he took out the knife.
"A little redundant since you have claws don't you think." Cyrus pointed out
"Shut it, Gene Shalit." Bobby roared as he gripped the knife and charged
Back by the stands Bobby's friend were watching cheering him on.
"Kick his arse." Cameron shouted
"If I had worn my uniform I could be out there helping him." Jade said regretting her decision
"Never thought I say this, but Iago has his back." Berry said
Back at the fight Bobby had manage to get a few strikes against Cyrus leaving deep gashes on his arms.
"I'll admit your girlfriend was smart to give you her knife." Cyrus stated
"That's only one of the things I love about her." Bobby confessed
Cyrus smirked before he vanished.
"Coward." Bobby growled
"BOBBY!"
Bobby and Iago turned to see Cyrus standing in the middle of the field with his hands placed on Jade's head getting ready to snap her neck. He turned to see Cameron and Berry laying on the ground.
"BERRY, CAMERON!" Bobby screamed
"They're fine," Iago informed, "their souls are still in their bodies."
Bobby noticed their bodies as they began to move. He sighed in relief only to remember Jade's predicament.
"You made one of the classic blunders," Cyrus shouted, "challenging me when your girlfriend's life is on the line."
"Let her go, you bastard" Bobby roared
"Put down the knife and get onto your knees," Cyrus ordered as he tightened his grip on Jade's head, "or you can say goodbye to your precious little Crusader."
Iago, while impressed with Cyrus's ultimatum, knew that Jade, who like Bobby was too important to die. He lifted his left hand to intervene. Suddenly without a second thought Bobby dropped the knife to the ground then fell to his knees. Cyrus smirked as he had literally brought the Guardian Wolf to his knees, a task that both Iago and Zoma had failed to accomplish.
"Idiot, unlike Iago I'm not a demon of my word."
"NO!" Bobby screamed as he jumped up and raced towards Cyrus
The demon cackled as he prepared to end the girl's life.
"Bobby, I…" Jade cried before someone pulled Cyrus away from Jade
Bobby caught Jade before she fell to the ground, he held her close as he was glad that she was unharmed. He then lowered her gently to the ground.
"Thank you." She said in between breaths
"I didn't do anything." Bobby admitted
They both looked over and saw the person for whom they owe all their thanks. Joseph Gribble had come to save the day. He had pinned Cyrus to the ground with his knees with his left side facing Bobby, Jade and Iago, he then began punching him relentlessly.
"You're dealing with a Ratter, you fiend." Joseph shouted in between punches
"That's my boy," Dale cheered as he arrived with a shotgun, "show him what happens when real monster hunters show up."
"Get out of here." Bobby yelled
"Not a chance, Bobby Hill." Dale shouted back revealing Bobby's identity to Joseph
"Bobby?" Joseph questioned as he stopped punching Cyrus then looked over at the werewolf
"Joseph, I'll explain…"
Suddenly Joseph collapsed onto the ground next to Cyrus with Jade's iron knife sticking out of his side. Cyrus stood and yanked the knife out of him. Everyone watched as blood began oozing out of him uncontrollably. He then dropped the bloody knife on the ground and stared at the burning flesh the knife had left on his hand.
"I guess he found out the hard way that sometimes the monster wins." Cyrus snarked
"JOSEPH!" Dale screamed as he opened fire on Cyrus
"When will you humans learn that guns are ineffective against demons?"
Dale continued to scream as tears poured out from behind his glasses. Then his gun quit firing and Cyrus stood before him. With a smack Dale was knocked to the ground. Bobby roared as he charged at Cyrus, who with impressive speed turned and slashed Bobby's chest. Bobby landed on the ground with a thud.
"I guess you're next."
Jade watched helplessly as Cyrus approached Bobby for she had ran over to Joseph and began putting pressure on his wound. She then noticed Iago who was standing still not even attempting to help Bobby
"Help him." Jade screamed at him
"No need."
"YOU BASTARD!"
Iago motioned for Jade to look over across the field where on the sidelines she saw a gray wolf. The unknown wolf growled getting Cyrus' attention.
"Great, now who's this guy?" Cyrus inquired at the annoyance of heroes showing up
"You know who exactly that is, Cyrus." Iago remarked
"No, that can't be, that's impossible, they shouldn't be here."
