Chapter Twenty
After dinner, Edward drove us back to my place. I was excited to get out of these shoes, and honestly, I really wanted Edward to just hangout with me in a more casual setting.
Tonight had gone exceptionally well and I really just wanted to keep spending time with Edward. I didn't know if he felt the same way, but I really hoped he did. I hadn't been sure how I felt about Edward before our date, but now I definitely knew, I liked him. A lot.
"You want to come in?" I asked as he paralleled park, "Hangout for a little while?"
He smiled widely, "Sure, I'd love too."
We walked to my apartment, but I went in first to put Cinnamon in the bathroom. I knew he made Edward uncomfortable, and I didn't want him to feel uneasy in my apartment.
I placed Cinnamon's water and food dish in the bathroom. He was already curled up in the sink, unperturbed by my presence.
Edward was standing in my kitchen, shrugging off his jacket.
"I'm going to change. This dress is really tight. I would offer you some clothes, but I don't have any clothes for men." I said.
"No I'm good." He said.
I grabbed my least raggedy looking pair of pajamas and slipped back into the bathroom. I also took my makeup off while I was in the bathroom. My eyes were itching.
I walked out of the bathroom in a tank top and some matching shorts. Edward had taken off his nice button up and was in his undershirt. Jesus. His body was incredible.
"Do you want anything to drink?" I asked.
"Whatcha got?" he asked.
I opened my fridge, "Hm, well, I have water, milk… that's about it."
"Water's fine." He chuckled.
"There's more drinks down in the bakery, if you want a soda."
"I'm good with water," He said.
I poured him a glass of ice water and handed it to him.
"Did you have a good time tonight?" He asked, sitting down at the kitchen table.
I sat in the other chair, "I had a great time. I'm glad we did this."
"So do you think there will be another date?" He asked in a hopeful tone.
I smiled and blushed, "Yeah, I think so."
He smiled widely, "Great. I had a great time too. I was just nervous that you weren't feeling the same."
"I think tonight really clarified things for me." I said.
"Like what?" He asked.
"Well, I hadn't been sure about my feelings for you. But tonight helped me figure them out." I said.
His smiled widened even further, "And what are your feelings?"
I rolled my eyes, blushing, "I think you know."
He laughed, "Well, I'm glad tonight was a success. I was really worried you wouldn't be impressed. And I can honestly say that I've never felt more pressure in my whole life than I have tonight."
I bit my bottom lip, blushing, "You don't have to go to such extreme lengths to impress me. I enjoy your company. And I don't expect you to spend loads of money on me. Your company alone makes me happy."
He blushed, "That's refreshing. I'm used to people only wanting to be around me for my—,"
He was cut off by his phone, "Sorry, I have to take this." He said.
"It's okay," I said very quietly as he took the call.
"Hello?" His voice changed, it somehow got deeper and more serious. I hadn't heard this tone before.
"Are you fucking kidding me?" His tone got sharper, "Of all the nights… Yeah, I'm on my way. I'll be there soon."
He sighed heavily once he got off the phone and pinched the bridge of his nose.
"Is everything okay?" I asked as I stood.
"Yeah, I just have to get across town. Something happened at one of the businesses and I have to go deal with it."
I nodded, "Okay, sorry that your night was cut short."
He smiled at me and grabbed my chin. I blushed as our lips touched. I reached up and wrapped my arms around his neck, standing on my tiptoes. His hands wrapped around my waist.
"Shit," Edward muttered to himself when our lips stopped touching.
"What's wrong?" I asked.
"Now I don't want to leave." He said, his arms still around me.
"Can somebody else take care of the problem?" I asked, "Why can't you just stay."
He groaned, "Oh god, you're dangerous. Trust me, I would stay if I could. But I have to deal with this problem. Maybe tomorrow we can do something? Grab lunch or whatever you want."
"Sure! Lunch sounds great," I smiled, "There's a great diner right down the street."
"Alright, sounds good. I'll be back tomorrow," He leaned down and kissed me again. This kiss was slightly rougher, but I didn't hate it.
"I'll see you tomorrow." He grabbed his jacket and walked out of the door.
"Bye Edward," I smiled.
He looked back over his shoulder and threw me a little smile. My heart flutter.
When he closed the door, I fell back onto my bed, smiling like an idiot. Tonight had been so amazing. I couldn't wait to see Edward again.
Edward's POV
God damn everything. Things were going so great, and of course, work calls me away. I swear, this better not be something stupid or I'm blowing someone's head off.
As I drove across town, I thought about Bella. She looked so incredible tonight. It took everything in me not to throw her against the wall and just do all sorts of wicked things to her.
And the best part, she seemed like she was really into me. I had been worried that she would end up not liking me, as I did her.
I made it to the warehouse, parking my car around back. Emmett was already there, I saw his SUV and parked beside it.
I walked through the doors, my hand on my hip where my gun was laid. I was ready to blow someone's head off; they'd interrupted my perfect night.
Emmett was standing in the corner, his arms crossed and a scowl on his face. Emmett was usually grinning, so the scowl seemed out of place. I assumed his night was ruined by this shit too.
"Cullen," James said to me, a little snap in his tone.
"James," I said, crossing my arms, "This better be real fucking good."
"Yeah," Emmett said, his face now snarled up, "My wife was scared out of her fucking mind. You couldn't have called you fucker?"
"I apologize that I scared your woman," James said, "But this is pretty fucking important."
"Then spit it out." I said. I sat down at the table that was in the center of the large room. I took out my pack of cigarettes and lit one. James sat across from me, leaning back in his chair and crossing his arms.
"I took a little trip, like you suggested." He said.
"That's wonderful," I said, "I hope it lived up to all of your expectations."
"Eh, it was alright. Very eye opening." He smirked.
"And you've come back because?"
"Well, I took this little trip to try and clear my mind," He snorted, "Unfortunately, I didn't find any fucking clarity."
"I'm sorry to hear that," I said sarcastically.
"Look, I'm just going to cut to the fucking chase," He slammed his hand down onto table, "I want to kill that little bitch who owns that bakery."
I felt a surge of heat threw my back. How dare he call my Bella a bitch. When I didn't answer, he continued.
"She ruined my life! I can't work the job I want anymore, I'm pretty much a fucking cripple. I want her to pay. I want to torture her until she's begging for me to kill her." He snarled.
"No." I said, trying very hard to keep my composure.
"What?" He asked in shock.
"I said no. You're not hurting the girl. You're to leave it be." I told him.
"And why should I?" He challenged.
"Because I fucking said so," I snapped, "And if you go anywhere near Bloor street, then I'll blow your brains out my-fucking-self."
His eyes narrowed, "Why?"
"I don't owe you any explanations."
He stared at me for a few minutes, "You're fucking her." he finally said.
"That's ridiculous."
"Is it? It would explain why you're so adamant about me not going near Bloor street. Are you fucking that little bitch?"
"So what if I am?" I said, "It's no business of yours."
He laughed bitterly, "Well, this is just fucking perfect. You piece of shit. You're going to let her get away with shooting one of your men? One of your best men? What kind of leader are you?"
"I can spank her if that'll make you feel better." I teased. Emmett laughed, and James's face turned red.
James slammed his hands onto the table, "You think this is a fucking joke you piece of shit!?"
I stood, "Let me explain something to you, James," My tone had lowered, "If you go near that bakery, if you do anything to hurt Isabella or her business, I will hunt you down. You think a bullet in your ass is bad? What I'll do to you will be even worse."
James cracked a little smile, "You think I'm scared of you? Cullen." He spat out my last name.
I took my gun out and pressed it to his head, "I think you've forgotten your place."
James didn't have the chance to answer me, I had already pulled the trigger. He fell backwards onto the ground, his brains splattered everyone. I slipped my gun back into my pocket.
Emmett laughed, "Jesus, that was a bit of an overreaction."
"I can't trust James," I said, "There's no telling what he would've done to Bella and I just can't risk it."
Emmett shrugged, "I don't really care. If you weren't going to do it, I was."
I looked over at Emmett, "What did he do to you?"
"The fucking asshole had the nerve to come over to my house. He scared the shit out of Rosie. Beating on my door, nearly breaking it down. I was out when he showed up. She was fucking terrified." Emmett spit on James's body, "Good riddance."
"Well, I'll call someone to clean this mess up. Go home to Rose." I told him.
Emmett nodded, "Thanks." He started towards the door, then paused, "Are you going to marry Bella?"
"Yes." I said.
"When are you going to tell her about your life?" He asked, "I mean, if you two are going to be involved, she needs to know that her life is going to have to change drastically, to protect her."
"Don't worry, I've got it covered," I said, "Aro put in high tech security cameras at her place. And I'm planning on buying the building next door to her. Stationing some men in there to keep an eye on her. Protect her if necessary. And I'll tell her about everything when it's the right time."
"You're trusting Aro?" He said.
"Don't worry, I have Jasper looking over the cameras. In case anything shady goes down." I said, "I have all points covered. Aro is an ally now. And I'm not risking anything happening to Bella."
He nodded, "When are you planning on asking her?"
"I think in six months." I said, "I'm going to Harry Winston in a few days. I have an appointment to have a special ring made for Bella. One that no one else has."
He smiled, "Congratulations. I think Bella's really good for you."
I smiled and leaning back in the chair and thinking about Bella. My soon-to-be wife.
Yes, Edward is probably moving a bit fast, but he's never felt this way for anyone before. He's completely smitten with her! It's so sweet, and I am loving how this story is going! I really hope you guys are liking it too! Anyways, that's the last time I'm updating today! So, please enjoy these two chapters!
