Happy Wednesday everyone! It's the middle of the week, and that means it's time for an update! I will be posting on Sundays and Wednesdays now, I'm currently working on Chapter Thirty-Four and y'all need to catch up! And I have read through the chapter to make sure there weren't any spelling errors or mistakes. If you see one, I tried my best! Enjoy!
Chapter Twenty-Five
I should've asked Edward what the name of the theater was, that way I wouldn't have been so shocked when we pulled into his garage. I was confused until he told me that it was his house.
"I'm confused, how are we going to watch the movie, if it just came out this week?" I asked.
He smiled, "Oh don't worry, I have it."
"How?"
"Just come in, I'll explain it later." He stepped out of the car and opened the door for me.
I was expecting Edward's house to be big and spectacular, but actually seeing his house with my own eyes, really shocked me.
"Wow, it's… wow," I said as I looked at the kitchen.
He chuckled, "I've never used it."
"Really? I couldn't imagine living here and not using this stove." I ran my hands over the stove top. It had had eight burners, four large and four small. There were two ovens stacked on top of each other and designed to look like the counters. The fridge was also very large and made to look like part of the counter.
"I can't believe how big this kitchen is," I said.
He laughed, "You should see the rest of the house. Come on."
He took me on a tour of his house. And every room was just beautifully designed. He told me that after living in this place for a year and only have the minimum furniture, his mother decided to decorate for him.
"And this is my theater." He opened the door that was down in the basement.
It was a pretty big room, but not the biggest room in the house. Against the wall was a screen that reached from the floor to the ceiling. There was an overhead projector on the ceiling and ten reclining leather love seats facing the screen. Behind the seats was a large bar. Behind the bar was a nice looking popcorn machine, a fridge filled with all sorts of drinks, and shelves with a ton of movie theater candy.
"Holy crap," I whispered to myself as I looked at his theater room.
"I stocked it last night with everything I could think of." He said, "It doesn't usually look like this, but I wanted you to get the whole movie theater experience."
"I love it," I smiled, "It's really cool. To be honest, I'm not a huge fan of movie theaters. I only go when there's a movie I really want to see."
"Perfect," He said, "I'm the same way. I'm not crazy about the huge crowds and the stale popcorn."
I laughed, "So, how do you have this movie?"
"It's actually pretty cool," He said, "So, I love movies. I always have, ever since I was little. When I was about fourteen, my dad had a home theater built for my birthday and he worked out a deal with several production companies. And ever since then, I get movies as soon as they release in the theaters. That way I can watch them at my own place whenever I want, and I don't have to put up with the crowds."
"Wow," I said, "What a gift."
He smiled, "We Cullens take gift giving very seriously."
I nodded, "Oh I know. I've seen the laptop."
The laptop he had bought for me was pretty incredible. It was superfast, could turn into a tablet, and held it's charge all day. It was perfect for school, and I was actually pretty glad he had bought it for me.
And with the laptop came another surprise. That pervert was actually giving me a scholarship for school. He was paying for all of it, which caught me off guard. And he had sent a handwritten apology. I didn't believe the apology, but the scholarship was greatly appreciated.
Edward had told me that he probably did this because if I wanted too, I could've charged him with sexual harassment or something. I hope that thought scared him enough to never do that to anyone else.
"You want some popcorn?" He asked.
"Of course. I want the whole movie theater experience." I said.
He grinned and walked behind the counter, "Alright Miss, what can I get you?"
I walked up to the counter and placed my hands on it, "Hmm, well, I want popcorn. A coke. And I think I want M&M's and Sour-Patch kids. Pretty please."
He chuckled, "Since you said please."
I watched as he started the popcorn maker. He even had a huge popcorn bucket to scoop the popcorn out. He set it on the counter, then grabbed a few boxes of the candy and a coke.
"Do you accept credit?" I asked teasingly.
"I don't accept money here," he grinned, "Only kisses."
I rolled my eyes but stood on my toes and leaned over the counter. He leaned too, our lips brushing together. There always seemed to be an electric spark that passed between us whenever we touched, and when we kissed, the spark was even more intense.
I pulled away, smiling, "Movie time?"
He chuckled, "Movie time."
I picked the loveseat that was closest to the screen. I now realized that somehow, the floor had a slight decline, that way the seats weren't directly behind one another. I would love to know how much time was spent designing this room. It certainly couldn't have been easy.
I sat down in the chair, placing my drink in the cupholder, and watched as he grabbed a remote from the shelf and turned the screen on.
Thousands of movies popped up on the screen. He had stuff that was still in theaters, had just left theaters, and a bunch of foreign films. It would take years to watch all of the content he had.
"Have you watched all of these movies?" I asked.
He laughed, "No, they just send them to me. I can delete any of them that don't interest me. I only watch the ones that I like."
He went up to the search tab and typed in the movie title. It popped up right on the screen. He even had the extra content.
I made myself comfortable in the seat and opened my M&M's. I immediately poured them into the popcorn.
Edward thumped into the seat next to me, popping the leg rests up. I was glad we were watching the movie here. It was a thousand times better than any public movie theater, plus, being able to pause the movie and have as much candy was I want was a nice perk.
Edward reached over and got a handful of popcorn as the movie started.
Halfway through the movie, I put the popcorn bucket down. My stomach couldn't take no more.
"Hey," Edward whispered.
"What?"
"Want to see the best part of these couches?" He asked.
"Sure."
He reached between us and lifted the armrest. I laughed, getting the hint, and snuggling closer to him. He seemed to sigh with content. I think I preferred cuddling against him too.
I was impressed that Edward made it through the entire three hour movie. I knew he'd probably rather watch something else, other than a love story set in the 1800's.
"Did you like it?" He asked when the credits appeared on the screen.
"Yes! It was perfect. I feel like they got everything mostly right. Except they left out a few things. But that's okay."
"How could they possibly leave anything out?" he chuckled, "That was the longest movie I've ever sat through."
I smiled, "I'm glad you did make it until the end. Sorry it was so boring."
"As long as you're happy I'm happy." He said, stretching his arms.
I leaned up and pressed my lips against his. He smiled and wrapped his arms around me. I moved to get into a more comfortable position. I straddled his thighs and loosely wrapped my arms around his neck.
Things were going great until his hand started creeping under my shirt, his fingers gently caressing my back. I froze and pulled away from him.
"Are you okay?" He asked, his eyes widening.
"Yeah, yeah," I said, "I just… I wanted to say that I'm not ready for sex or anything like that."
"I know Bella," He said, his hands resting on my hips, "And I'm not pushing for it. You hold all the power in the relationship. You decide how fast or slow we go."
I smiled, "Good. Because, I've only ever tried to have sex with one other person, and it was just terrible. A terrible experience."
"Really? What happened?" He asked.
I blushed, "It's such an embarrassing story."
"Please tell me," He begged, his lower lip pouting out dramatically.
"Okay but you have to swear not to tell anyone," I said, "Well, before my parents died when I was seventeen, I had briefly dated this guy, Eric. He was really nice, I liked him. We were going to the homecoming together. It was kind of fun, but we left early. I really wanted to try having sex. I knew I'd be going off to college after summer, and I just wanted to loose my virginity. I thought it would make things easier for me. Welp, we left the dance and drove his mom's minivan to La Push. That's the Native America reservation near Forks. We found a really secluded spot and put the seats in his mom's van down. We were making out, and it was going fine. But when we got naked, he stuck it in me and then just… you know," I made a jerking motion with my hand, "While I was telling him it was okay, someone knocked on the van. It was a guy who did night watch on the reservation. When we caught us, he took our names and called our parents. I was absolutely terrified. I thought my parents were going to kill me."
"What did your parents do?"
"They waited for me to get home and laughed at me," my blush deepened, "After they finished laughing at me, they just asked me if I had used protection and if this was going to become a regular thing. I was just so embarrassed after that, I never tried again."
He threw his head back and laughed loudly, "Oh man. How embarrassing! I can't believe your dad was so chill about you having sex."
I shrugged, "My parents were, well, I guess you'd considered them new-aged modern parents. They believed in letting me make my own choices, as long as I wasn't hurting myself. And my dad knew that he would never be able to stop me if I was going to have sex. He knew that if he told me not to do it, I'd probably want to do it even more. So, his main concern was me being safe."
He nodded, "Your parents sound pretty cool."
"They were awesome," I said, "Now, what about you. How did you lose your virginity."
"I didn't say I'd tell you my story."
"No come on, I told you mine. You owe me a story." I begged.
He took a deep breath, "I just… I don't want you to think badly of me. Or my family. Maybe it's a story for another day."
"Please? I promise I won't judge or think badly of you." I said.
He sighed and pulled his shirt down to expose an intricate set of intertwine geometric shaped tattoos.
"I got this the night I lost my virginity." He said, "So, in my family, we have strict traditions that we stand by and follow. If you don't agree with them, I'd rather not hear it."
His words caught me slightly off guard, but I nodded. It was his family and his traditions. People were funny about things.
"Alright, well, in my family the girls do not have sex before marriage. They're not supposed too anyway," He said, "But I know Alice has been with Jasper. If they weren't engaged I would have a problem with it, but since he is her future husband it's okay. The girls don't have sex until marriage. But it's kind of mandatory for the boys to lose their virginity by the time they're sixteen."
I leaned slightly away, thinking about the information he just gave me.
"Don't think about it too hard," He told me, "It's just something we do. It's sexist, I know. But in our family tradition, the woman needs to be a virgin, and the man can't be a true man and still be a virgin. That's just not how it goes."
"So… how did you lose your virginity? From a girl in your school?"
He shook his head, "No. Another tradition that goes hand in hand with the whole virginity thing is um, well, I guess it's just easier for me to tell you that my dad took me to a brothel."
"Wait, your dad took you to a brothel when you were sixteen?"
"Yeah. His father took him to one, and so on. So, my sixteenth birthday, I lost my virginity, and I got this tattoo."
I nodded, biting my lip. I couldn't imagine Carlisle taking him to a brothel. I mean, I didn't even know things like this existed. It was kind of weird to me.
Edward was watching my face as I absorbed the information. I could see in his eyes that he was scared. I'm sure he was scared I would judge him or his family. I mean, there was a little part of me that was kind of judging I guess, but overall, it wasn't too bad.
"That's okay." I said.
He shrugged, "It's just… it's just how we do things."
"So… okay, since I'm technically not a virgin, that means we can't get married?"
The words came out before I could stop them. I didn't mean it to sound like I expected us to get married. I didn't want to scare Edward and make him think that I was expecting that.
"I didn't mean it to sound like that. I was just saying—."
"No it's okay," He said, "You weren't born a Cullen, so it's fine." He said, "So if we were to get married, you being a virgin, wouldn't be an issue."
I nodded, "So, how do your parents know Alice is a virgin?"
"I honestly don't know. I guess it's more like an expectation of the girls. But it's just different for the boys."
"Hm."
He shrugged, "It's weird, I know. But these are just traditions that were established a very long time ago. I'm sure if I had told my father I didn't want to do it, he wouldn't make me."
"It's okay. I've just never really knew people had such strict traditions."
"Yeah." His hands squeezed my hips, "You want to watch another movie?"
"Sure. You pick. Anything you want since I made you watch that romantic drama." I smiled, "Can I have some more popcorn?"
So, we learned a little about Edward's family traditions. Hopefully your opinion of him doesn't change, he's still our dashing bad boy! How did you like their movie night? I thought it was sweet when I wrote it. And I know, the stuff that happens in this story doesn't happen in real life, but it adds a little flare, right?
