Six weeks later

Mac had brought Logan to see his new doctor. Since Mac was Military, they all had health providers within the Military now that everything was in order with the papers. Logan was in perfect health again after his accident and surgery. After the check-up, Mac took Logan to meet her husband for lunch before taking the boy back to his grandparents so that she could finish her working day.

"There you are," Harm rose to meet them. He kissed Mac softly and took Logan from her. "Is he all cleared for duty?"

Mac was amused. "Yes, he is," she confirmed.

"That's my boy," Harm held Logan up and made flying noises. The boy laughed out loud.

Mac felt her heart swell with pride and joy. Harm was amazing. "You're so good with him."

Harm smiled as he sat down and let Logan sit on his lap.

Mac sat as well and caught him up on what the doctor had said. They were becoming a real family, the four of them. Mattie loved having a brother, and she took her big sister duties seriously. She was back on her feet now and had retired the wheelchair. Everything was working out perfectly for them.

"I can do the grocery shopping. Just text me what we need," Harm said as they prepared to leave the restaurant.

"I'll take the family car then and pick up Logan, and we'll meet back at the house," Mac said as they walked to the cars.

"Sounds like a plan," Harm agreed. "Do we have plans this weekend?"

Mac shook her head. "No, not that I know of. What did you have in mind?"

"Luke asked us over for lunch on Saturday. I'll tell him yes then," he said as they reached the cars.

"Okay," Mac smiled. "See you later, then."

Harm handed Logan over and kissed her. "Drive carefully."

"You too. I love you," she kissed him again.

Harm watched her put Logan in the car and then drive off before he got into his Corvette. Life was smiling at the Rabb family at the moment. It was a good time.

That night

Mac stopped in the doorway leading from their bathroom to their bedroom. Logan was standing in his crib, and Harm was sitting on the bed's end looking at his son.

"You can't keep doing this, you know. You're supposed to be asleep now. You're kinda blocking me, you know."

Logan laughed.

"Yeah, you can laugh, but you'll get it when you share a bed with a beautiful woman someday. This has been going on for a week now. We want to go to bed, and you wake up. I can't do what I want to do with your mom then."

Logan stared at his father.

"You should probably start sleeping in your own room now. Across the hallway so that I can get some alone time with mom to do… stuff. A week is a long time to go without… stuff."

Mac couldn't hold back any longer. She burst out laughing.

Harm's head whipped around. Logan turned as well and started laughing.

"You're getting him all worked up," Harm complained.

"I'm sorry, honey," she said between waves of laughter.

"It's not funny, Mac. He's been awake at night for a week now." Harm stood and lifted Logan. "He really should sleep in his own room now. That way he won't wake up when we go to bed."

"Yeah, so you can do things to his mom," Mac said and wiped her eyes as she walked over. She kissed Logan's head. "Okay, buddy, are you ready to move out huh?"

Logan reached for his mom.

Mac took him from her husband. "You think it's okay for him all alone?"

Harm hesitated. "You're giving me a bad conscience now, Mac."

"I know, that's my intention," she admitted with an adorable smile.

"We haven't had sex in a week," he complained in a whisper.

"That's not true. Yesterday in the shower," Mac said as she put Logan in his crib.

"That was just a quickie because we had to finish before he woke up. I want thorough stuff. I don't even know if you… you know," he whispered.

"Oh I definitely did," she winked at him and smiled when he got that proud look on his face. "Okay, let's carry him over there." She pointed across the hallway.

"Are you sure?" Harm wondered, now doubtful.

"Yes, you're right, he's a big boy, and he's feeling safe here now. And he did get a clean bill of health," she motioned for him to lift the crib.

Harm grabbed the crib and they carried it across the hallway and placed it where it belonged in Logan's room.

They said good night and took a step back. Two minutes later Logan was in a deep sleep. Mac made sure the baby monitor was working. Harm hesitated in the doorway. "I kind of miss him now."

Mac offered a slight head shake.

Harm backed out of the room and headed for their bedroom. He got comfortable in bed. Mac put the baby monitor on the nightstand and got into bed. She moved closer to him and ran her hand down his chest. "I kind of have high expectations now."

Harm turned his head and looked at her. "You think he's okay in there?"

"Yes, I think he's perfect," she leaned in and kissed him softly. "You were right."

"Because I want him to be okay. I don't need sex that bad," he added.

Mac laughed softly. "Harm, you're a strange man. But I love you."

He smiled.

She sat up and removed her nightgown in one swift motion. "Anything I can do to take your mind off the baby?"

He looked down at her naked body. "This is working." He moved in and kissed her, dragging her down on the bed.

The next morning

Mac found her two boys in the kitchen when she woke up that morning. Harm must have woken up and grabbed the baby monitor before she could wake up. She smiled at the interaction between father and son. Harm was a natural with the boy.

"Morning," Mac said and kissed her husband, then kissed her son's head. "Are you enjoying your fruit, Logan?"

Logan held up a piece of fruit for her. "Cutie," she said and kissed him again.

They enjoyed a quiet breakfast. An hour later Mattie had eaten too and they dressed and went for a walk.

Mac put her head on Harm's shoulder as they sat and watched Mattie and Logan. Mattie was sitting on a swing with Logan in her lap. Logan was laughing.

"Are you happy?" he wondered.

She nodded. "Yeah."

"Good," he put his arm around her and drew her closer.

"You?" she questioned.

"Yeah, I'm happy," he confirmed. "We should get started with the adoption process."

"I'd like that," she agreed.

"As far as I understand from what I've researched, the process should be pretty easy. Since there's no family and no reunification issues to consider and we're already his foster parent's we could start the process at any time," he said.

Mac was quiet and Harm was wondering if she was paying attention.

"Are you with me?" he asked after a little while.

She lifted her head from his shoulder and nodded. "Sorry, I was just thinking."

"About?" Harm questioned.

"Logan," she looked thoughtful. "His parents. Us." She sat up straighter. "What's the odds that two foster kids meet and have a baby? The father dies, then the mother dies and we take in the kid. And in less than two months we decide to adopt. The plan was to foster children, right? And now we're adopting."

Harm nodded. "And?"

"We talked about adoption but decided to open up our home to foster children, and try and make a baby ourselves, and now we're adopting." Her eyes met his eyes to see if he understood where she was going. "I don't want us to stop trying for a baby on our own, Harm."

He understood where she was going with this. "I don't want to stop that either. We can still do that. I know you want to carry a child and I hope we can make that happen for you. For us," he corrected himself.

Mac smiled. "So we're on the same page then?"

"Definitely," he smiled and took her hand.

"Good," she leaned in and kissed him softly.

Later that night

It had been a wonderful day for them as a family. They had lunch at Harm's colleague's house. He and his wife had three children, the oldest a girl Mattie's age. It had been a great fit for Mattie who had gotten along great with Fiona. Mattie had gone from home school to regular school and she'd had a hard time finding her place and meeting new friends. Now she and Fiona had agreed to meet again after school that week.

That night they had dinner at Trish and Frank's house and Mac and Harm had agreed to let Harm's parent's in on their plans to adopt Logan.

"Mom, Frank. Mac and I have been talking about the future," Harm started. Mattie had taken Logan to play in the living room so the adults could talk uninterrupted.

"Yes?" Trish said with curiosity.

"We'd like to adopt Logan," Harm continued. "We've just started looking into it."

"Oh, that's wonderful," Trish put a hand over her heart. "That makes me so happy.

"And whatever you need us for, we're there," Frank added.

"We appreciate that," Mac said sincerely.

"What you're already doing for Logan and for us is all we need," Harm said with emotion. Having his parents decide to have Logan while he and Mac were at work meant so much to him. "Knowing that he's happy and safe while we're at work means a lot."

"We are enjoying it," Trish reassured. "And we're enjoying having you close, son."

"Fatherhood suits you," Frank said.

Harm smiled and took Mac's hand. "I'm enjoying it."

"And maybe one day we'll have a baby of our own," Mac added and squeezed his hand.

"We haven't given up on that idea," Harm said.

"We'd like that," Trish said. "And Mattie seems to adjust to everything very well," she added.

"Yes, she's great with Logan," Mac smiled lovingly.

"And she's happier in school too," Harm added. Having Mattie sad because she had a hard time finding friends was hard to watch, but now she seemed more content.

That night

Mac and Harm were seated on the couch when Mattie walked down with the baby monitor in her hand. She'd asked if she could put Logan down that night. Mattie seemed to love being the big sister.

"He's down," Mattie smiled and handed the monitor to Mac.

"Thank you, Mattie," Mac smiled warmly.

"He seems to handle the move well," Mattie said as she sat down and reached for the remote.

"Yeah, it's harder for the parent's I think," Mac said with a chuckle and poked Harm's leg.

"I was up one time to check on him," Harm pointed out.

"I rest my case," Mac said in a teasing tone. "I think it's cute."

"I'm cute?" Harm was amused.

"I think it's a good quality in a man," she reached out and rubbed his thigh.

"Thanks," he smiled and leaned in and kissed her softly.

"How was your day Mattie," Mac asked.

The teenager shrugged. "It was great. I like Fiona."

"The Clark's seem great," Mac agreed.

"Yeah, Luke is a great guy. And one of the best prosecutors I've seen in action," Harm said.

"Fiona and I have been texting all day," Mattie admitted. "She likes swimming too, so we agreed to meet at the pool after school on Wednesday. She's on the swim team, so maybe she could give me some pointers."

Harm nodded. "That's great, Mattie." He knew that Mattie had started swimming regularly because it was useful to her rehabilitation, and he was glad she stuck with it. She was still followed up closely by her therapist, and they were at the hospital twice a week after school. On top of that, she had a schedule to follow every day to keep up with her exercises.

Harm and Mac shared looks and exchanged smiles. They were happy that Mattie was getting back to being a teenager again.
