Hello dear readers! I want to thank you all for the feedback since the last chapter! You guys sure are curious what the secret of the community home is! Don't worry, you'll know very soon!
Thank you for proofreading CJ!
''Mira!'' Lucy hid the picture she was holding behind her back as quickly as she could, ''we weren't, ehrm, we got here by accident!''
''Just-'' Cana gulped. ''Just what do you mean with 'you weren't supposed to', Mira?''
Mirajane's facial expression softened. ''Oh my, you're acting like I'm about to kill you, girls.'' She giggled. ''Come with me,'' she said and turned around.
Lucy and Cana exchanged looks, both unsure what was going on. As if they could read each other's thoughts, they nodded and walked after Mirajane.
They followed her to a small office that felt out of use.
''This is normally Mister Dreyar's office, but he's old and weak and rarely comes around anymore.''
''I've heard of him before,'' Lucy said as she sat down on a couch Mirajane had gestured to, ''he's the big boss, right?''
Mirajane sat behind the desk. ''You could say so.''
''I have no idea what this is all about,'' Cana said, crossing her arms as she leaned against the door opening, ''I've heard the name Dreyar before though, wasn't he the blond dude that was here the other day?''
Mirajane's face flushed. ''That was his grandson, but that's not what I want to tell you about.''
Cana spread out the pictures from the library on the desk. Mirajane picked one up and let her thumb trail over the folds of the old piece of paper.
''The Fairy Tail isn't a community home, or at least, it's more than that,'' she dreamily said.
Cana rolled her eyes. ''No, shit.''
''Cana!'' Lucy gasped.
Mirajane laughed. ''It's okay, you two are too smart and found out information that was supposed to be classified for at least a few more months.''
Lucy awaited her story in anticipation. ''Please do tell.''
''Two hundred years ago,'' she continued, ''this country was under attack, though the current history books will not contain this event. The threat was dealt with by humans who had certain supernatural powers. This building pulls in descendants of these people whenever this threat comes up again. Sometimes an entire generation passes without anyone coming in. Though, the amount of people that have come in the last ten years is a sign something is about to happen again. At this point, a descendant of every original member will be present soon.''
The girls stared at her with open mouths.
''Hold up,'' Cana said, grabbing her head as if it hurt, ''if this is all true, then why didn't I see someone of the Alberona family in the pictures?''
''It must mean you're related on your other parent's side. People of these bloodlines instinctively know not to change their name in marriage and to pass down their last name to their children.''
Cana turned around one of the pictures. ''So that means my father has one of these last names?''
Mirajane nodded. ''You don't know who he is?''
Cana let her shoulders hang. ''I don't have the slightest clue.''
''Have you girls experienced an awakening lately? Any sort of strange occurrence will do. Has fate shown you your power?''
Cana and Lucy recalled the cards, golden key, and weird encounters and nodded in unison.
''Are we... wizards?'' Lucy asked, her eyes shimmering with excitement.
Mirajane laughed. ''If that's what you want to call it, then go ahead.''
''Sis?'' Lisanna suddenly came through the door. '''We have a guest.''
''Ah yes, the professor,'' Mirajane said, ''let him in here straight away.''
''Is there something I should know?'' Lisanna asked, ''the atmosphere here is so dense, one could cut it with a knife.''
Mirajane let out a sigh. ''I told them about the alliance, they found out about the library.''
Lisanna's face lit up and she ran up to Lucy to grab her hands. ''Now you finally know!'' She let out enthusiastically, ''now I can finally reveal my magic.''
She took a few steps backward and held out both arms to her side. She closed her eyes and a glowing line trailed down from her shoulders to her hands. Cana and Lucy were dumbfounded when feathers started sprouting from the back of her arms. In a matter of seconds, her arms had transformed to wings and she flapped them to fly up to the ceiling.
''Pretty cool, isn't it?'' she said as if she had shown them a cool gadget.
Her sister opened a window. ''Company is coming, please go fly in the garden.''
''As you wish,'' she giggled and flew through the window with ease.
Lucy and Cana stared through the glass with wide-open eyes.
''Lucy, can you punch me?'' Cana said breathlessly.
''Don't you mean pinch?''
''Just hit me already, damnit!'' she let out.
''Erh-hem.'' They heard Mirajane fake a cough and turned around. A man had entered the office and looked at them as if they were kids fighting in kindergarten. He seemed to be in his early thirties and wore semi-formal clothes.
''Excuse us,'' Lucy said as she sat down and gestured Cana to do the same.
Mirajane stood up from her chair to shake the man's hand. ''Please to meet you, professor Seyir, my name is Mirajane Strauss.''
''Professor Doranbolt Seyir from Magnolia University,'' he said as he shook her hand, ''please to meet you too.''
He turned around to face Lucy and Cana. His eyes met Cana's and she was weirdly entranced by his gaze. Not only were his eyes a strange shade of green, one of his eyes was partly framed by a giant scar that covered almost the entire left side of his face.
''I assume these are two of your clients?'' he asked as he turned back to Mirajane.
''They are regular visitors, indeed,'' she winked at the girls, ''could you please wait for me in the main hall? I will make us some coffee.''
As soon as the man left the room, Mirajane closed the door.''Professor Seyir is doing research on the effect of group therapy on psychological problems and requested to observe some of our sessions.
''I can't wait to be a test subject,'' Cana sheepishly laughed.
Lucy regretted her choice of clothing once again. It had been warm all day, but the cloudless sky had made the temperatures drop way lower than they had been the last few weeks. She looked over at the glowing digital clock above a gas station in the distance. 11 pm. Whatever Natsu had chosen to be their date this time, it could not be indoors, as everything was closed. Except for the pubs. She shivered.
''Please, not the pub,'' she silently whined to herself.
In the distance, she could see someone walking towards her. When she noticed his rosy, spikey hair in the light of the street lantern he passed, she let out an almost audible sigh. How could he make her feel so helpless only by just by existing? Though everyone around her had seemed to noticed already, it was moments like these that made her realise more and more what she felt for him. She was burning with curiosity about him and his life.
He now stood before her, with a way more careless air around him than when they last met.
''The sky is perfect tonight!'' he let out before even greeting her. She looked up to the pitch-black sky and was caught off guard when she felt him pull on her wrist.
''W-what are you doing?! Where are we going?'' she stuttered as she was dragged behind him.
He looked back with a confident grin. ''You'll see soon!''
Second date time! What plan does Natsu have?
Thank you for reading and until next chapter!
