Chapter 1: Remarried

Tom Dupain-Cheng had thought it was the best idea, but now he was having second thoughts... What if Marinette thought he was trying to replace her mother, and didn't want him to do it? What if she and the two girls didn't get along? What if- well, he should just ask her before jumping to conclusions. Tom pulled himself back from his thoughts and focused on what his daughter was saying.

"Oh, I do love happy endings, don't you?" she said, setting down the book she had been reading to him.

"Yes, they're quite my favorite sort," he agreed, hoping that what he was about to suggest would help them to finally have a happy ending of their own.

"Listen, I think it might be time, perhaps, to... start a new chapter," he said carefully.

"How so, father?" Marinette replied, interested.

"Well, you'll recall that I recently met a man called Mr. Rossi on my travels? Well, he has just died, leaving his wife and daughters with no one to provide for them," he told her hesitantly, hoping that she would pick up on his meaning.

"Oh no, that's terrib- wait! You- you want to... get remarried..." She paused, seeming to think it over. Finally, she agreed. "Well papa, if it makes you happy, then... do it."

"Yes," Tom exclaimed, "Happiness! For both of us! Do you think that I can have one last chance, to find my own happy ending?"

"Of course, father!" She told him, looking glad. He was so fortunate to have such a wonderful daughter, and was grateful to have made the right choice. Now he just had to hope that she and her stepsisters would get along!

A/N: So you made the right choice did you, Mr. Dupain-Cheng? Yeah, I don't think they're going to get along very well for some reason... Just so you guys know, I will not have a regular day or time to update my story. If I don't update for a while, please don't think that I've abandoned it, I know how frustrating it is to start a story but then never be able to finish it. I promised myself to see this story through to the end, so that's what I'm going to do!
