Chapter 15: The Ball
When Marinette arrived at the palace, all the guests were already inside. As she stepped out of her carriage, she gasped. The Palace was so beautiful!
She gazed up at it in awe as she walked up the many stairs that led to the entrance. Hurrying towards the doors to the ballroom, she was asked for a name.
"Ladybug," she replied confidently.
Prince Adrien eagerly looked around for his Lady, but as the last few guests trickled in, he started to lose hope that she would come.
"Are you looking for someone?" The king asked sharply.
"N-no!" Adrien denied quickly.
His father looked at him suspiciously, but didn't say anything more as Nathalie walked up with yet another foreign princess.
"Your Highness, Princess Kagami of Tsurungi," introduced Nathalie.
Mentally grimacing at the princess's cold demeanor, he greeted her politely.
"Hello Prince Adrien," She said stiffly. "It is a pleasure to meet you."
Suddenly, the announcer gave one last name. "Uh… Ladybug?" The Prince heard. He looked up, and he saw her.
Vaguely aware that someone was speaking to him, Adrien ignored them and made his way across the room towards... Ladybug. He'd thought that his Lady was a peasant, not a princess! As she glanced around, apparently looking for someone, he walked up to her.
"Ladybug?"
Hearing someone calling her fake name, Marinette turned around and saw the prince. She curtsied to him, and asked politely, "Your Highness, have you seen a young man named Cat Noir?"
Adrien laughed. "Of course I have… M'lady! Wow! If I'd known you were a purr-incess, I'd have told you who I am!"
Ladybug gasped. "Wha-Kitty?!"
Oh, his Lady looked so adorable when flustered!
"You bet!" he said, showing her the charm she'd given him as proof. "I still have your charm, I think it brings me good luck! You are a Ladybug after all…" He flirted.
Adrien could've sworn that he heard Nino laughing from somewhere behind him, but he ignored it.
"My Lady- no, my Princess, will you give me the honor of letting me lead you through this, the first..." he trailed of, suddenly lost in her beautiful blue eyes.
"Dance?" She finished breathlessly.
"Y-yes, dance!" He agreed, laughing.
She nodded quickly, and as he slid his hand around her waist, she let out a cute little gasp and started blushing. Then, the music began...
Alya Cesaire did not expect that she would see her best friend at the ball that night. So, imagine her surprise when Marinette came striding into the ballroom in a beautiful ladybug gown that she'd never seen before. Then imagine her complete shock when the prince practically ran over to her and asked her for the first dance!
She'd thought that Mari liked 'Cat Noir,' yet she and the prince looked so... in love! Then it struck Alya. "Wait! The prince is Cat Noir?!" She yelped. She didn't see the prince's friend right next to her.
"Wait, how do you know?" He asked.
"Well, that's my friend," Alya told him, gesturing towards Marinette. "And she's been talking about someone she met in the woods named 'Cat Noir' for days now." She finished.
"Oh," Nino said. "Well, all Adrien's been talking about is 'his Lady,' who he met in the forest…"
Alya and Nino continued to talk about how cute their friends looked together, and by the time the next song started, they were happily dancing together.
The song ended, and Marinette and the prince bowed to each other. "My Princess," he murmured, kissing her hand. She blushed fiercely, and could have sworn that she heard Alya and her Kitty's friend cheering behind them.
As the next dance started, couples began to join them, and soon the dance floor was full. Marinette and Adrien danced with them for a few minutes, but the magic of their first dance had been broken, and she felt that she'd rather go somewhere quieter.
As if he had read her mind, Adrien whispered to her, "let's get out of here!" He grabbed her hand, and the two slipped through the crowd and out the door.
Here's a little bonus from Kagami's POV!
Kagami was so tired of her mother forcing her to come to these stupid balls to meet annoying princes! She'd do a much better job of ruling her kingdom on her own, anyways! She arranged her face into her "ice queen" mask, and introduced herself to Prince Adrien.
At least this one was handsome and polite, right? Though that didn't mean she wanted to marry him! It didn't look like he wanted to marry her either, judging by the way he kept ignoring her and looking around for someone.
Suddenly, he got a strange look on his face. He brushed past her with a quick "excuse me" and hurried across the room towards the lady who had just entered. Did he dislike her that much?! She had probably been acting pretty stiff, but still!
Kagami watched as Adrien spoke with the lady for a moment before asking her to dance with him. Seeing them dance, she realized that this woman must have been who he was looking for... and was probably in love with, judging by their expressions.
"I'm so sorry, Your Highness! I don't know what happened," King Gabriel's assistant said, pulling her out of her thoughts.
"It doesn't matter," she said, brushing it off. "It was my mother who made me come anyways."
She left the platform where the King's throne sat and stood at the edge of the room by the wall where she watched the prince and his princess dancing. As the second dance started, she lost sight of the two in the crowd of dancers for a moment, and couldn't find them again.
Bored, she reclined against the wall and watched the people dancing. Hearing the announcer give another name, she looked up to see the latecomer. This 'Luka Couffaine' was... hot! And... I mean, why shouldn't she ask to dance with him? She was bored anyways...
Striding purposefully up to the young teal-haired man, she cleared her throat. "Hello, I am the princess Kagami of Tsurungi. Would you like to dance with me?" She asked awkwardly. This whole 'interacting with people' business was hard!
Luka looked back at the girl he'd been talking to, who just raised an eyebrow and told him to go. He took her hand and led her out onto the dance floor. They danced together in awkward silence for a few moments, before he broke the silence. "Uh, that's my sister Juleka," he said, gesturing to the girl he'd been talking to.
They were silent for a few more moments, then suddenly Kagami started giggling. "Why is this so awkward? Let's start over. I'm Kagami, and you are...?"
They started talking, and quickly got over their awkwardness. Her and Luka spent the rest of the night together, and Kagami realized that there was no way she was going to let her mother keep trying to marry her off to foreign princes. After all, there were no laws against marrying commoners, right?
A/N: Ta-da! I'm actually living up to my promise and posting another chapter! Unfortunately it's not as long and nobody's had time to review the last one, but oh well!
Thanks to my sister, who helped a lot with this chapter! Though I did have to edit it quite a bit... sorry 'Night,' but you and I definitely have a different style of writing!
Please look at my question in the author's notes of last chapter, and tell me if you can think of something! Thanks :)
Anyways, review, follow, and/or favorite plz! And check out my forum if your interested, it's called Miraculous RPG: The Twin Box, though I know you probably know that already :D (that is, if you actually read my author's notes!)
5/7/21 A/N: Hi, I'm finally back... and only to change this chapter a bit, I wasn't satisfied with how I did it the first time *cough 'Night' cough*. I know it's been ages since I updated, but I'm working on it! We're done with school and are going in a camper to go see Mount Rushmore and the badlands and stuff, so I'll probably be able to write some chapters on the way... yay! Finally!
I do have a question, though... does anybody even read these?! Because it really doesn't seem like it! I guess just because I read other people's doesn't mean other people read mine :(
If no one answers my question, I might just consider relocating my author's notes to the top of the story, that way you'll have to read my rambling before you can get to it... *cackles evilly* :D
