Hey, guess what I'm alive! I was ordered by my editor that I had to get a chapter out before I went on vacation on Friday to Hawaii for a week or I would be Gibbs slapped. So enjoy chapter 12.
NOTE: Just a reminder that this story is taking place in 2012 about 6 months before the announcement that Lucas sold the franchise to Disney.
Chapter 12
Three Days Later
As the elevator doors opened G and Sarah found Sam and DiNozzo standing by the cubicles across from them.
"Are you out of your mind?" Sam said, loudly.
"It could happen," Tony said, defensively.
"No, it's over!"
"What's over?" G asked.
"He thinks that there's a chance that there will be another Star Wars trilogy," Sam said.
"Not this again." Sarah moaned.
"So he has mentioned this before?" Sam asked surprised.
"We had this argument after seeing the midnight showing of 'Revenge of the Sith'," Sarah told them.
"Think about it, when Uncle George goes to be one with the force, his kids will have the rights to the movies. They will either sell the franchise or one of them will continue his Star Wars movies and make episodes seven, eight, and nine."
"They would never be able to get the original cast together for that Tony." Sarah pointed out.
"Just remember if I'm right you have to rent out a theater so we can see the movie together." DiNozzo reminded her.
"I don't think you have to worry about paying that bet for a long time."
A wind chime alert from Sarah's phone played. She took out her phone, pressed the home screen on her phone and a text appeared from Abby
'I need to see you ASAP!'
"Saved by the bell. Abby needs to see me." Sarah put her phone back in her pocket.
"Take your time I'm pretty sure we'll still be arguing about this by the time you get back," Sam told her.
"Text me where you want to meet for lunch and I'll meet you there," Sarah said.
"I will."
All three of them watched her get on the elevator.
"Did you ask Abby to text her?" Tony asked Sam when elevator doors closed and they knew she is out of earshot.
"I thought you did?" Sam shocked.
"Abby's radar is good today."
"What's going on?" G asked.
"There's a break in the case. Director Vance wants us up in his office now." Sam informed him.
"Did Sarah asked why she wasn't invited?" Gibbs asked when they arrived.
"She got a text from Abby to see her about something," Sam said sitting down.
"I'm guessing that this break in the case is pretty bad if you don't want her to know about this." G said.
"She'll know eventually." Director Vance told him as he pressed the red button and the room went into lockdown.
"Agent Fornell, what have you found?" Director Vance said when Tobias Fornell appeared on the screen. He looked like he had been up for most of the night and he was not happy about it.
"We found Ricky Napolitano in an abandoned trailer home in Winchester, Virginia.
Ducky is here and thinks that Ricky has been there for about 2 days." Fornell walks into the room and the camera scans to Ricky "I think we can figure out how he died."
The camera scanned to Ricky Napolitano's lifeless body with his neck sliced and shot in the chest.
"The house is owned by CF&Q Limited" Fornell told them.
"Comescu's." G said not surprised.
"How did you find him?" Sam asked
"An anonymous caller to the FBI. Here's the kicker, they said that the body that was found was FBI Agent Fornell." Fornell told them.
"You're joking," Gibbs said stunned.
"I wish I was. My boss called to see if I was okay and when I didn't answer guess who they called."
"They called her." Gibbs tried not to laugh.
"Her?" Sam asked.
"Fornell's ex-wife," Gibbs told Sam.
"Our ex-wife," Fornell corrected Gibbs.
"She calls me and panics because I didn't answer. And instead of calling you she comes over to my place and lets herself in."
"You change your locks," Gibbs mumbled.
Fornell scoffed, "this from the man whose locks are broken on all his doors!" He paused, "I open my eyes and think I'm having a nightmare with her standing over me, glaring, and I realize that I'm awake. That's when she opens her mouth and does that shrilling scream that she has when she's mad and frustrated."
"I know the one."
"She was all 'TOBIAS WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON?! You scared me half to death blah blah blah blah blah.' I never want to wake up to again Jethro." Fornell glared at Gibbs.
"Take her off the emergency list," Gibbs said simply.
"Emily is the one on the list, she who must not be named is the one who answered the phone. I finally got her to calm down and shut up I called up my boss to see what was going on."
"We found the weapon over here," Tobias starts walking down the hallway "They left a message for us."
Fornell walked into an empty bedroom and scanned the camera to the wall. There is a picture pinned to the wall with a bloody knife. As he walked closer the video slowly focuses and they realize that it's a picture of G and Sarah at the boatshed standing in front of the window on their wedding day there's a red x marked on Sarah's chest.
"Director I checked the area…," Sam said stunned that Dracul was so close and they didn't know it.
"I know Sam." Director Vance paused, "Agent Callen, I think it's time that I strongly suggest that you and Sarah go off grid now."
"I agree."
Sarah walked into Abby's lab, "Hey Abbs."
"I found something," Abby said, picking up the clicker and closing the door behind her.
"On Natasha?"
"No, on the bloodwork that you asked me to do," Abby said, walking into her office and getting the piece of paper out of the drawer.
"So I did the test looked at CBC, blood count, all the usual ones that you would get during a yearly exam and everything seems to be fine. Then I started doing other tests and your hCG levels are really high."
"What level are they supposed to be at?" Sarah asked.
"9.0 or less, yours are between 1808 and 56,500 range. "
"Is that bad?" Sarah asked.
"No, it's good actually." she smiled, "You're pregnant, Sarah."
"What are you going to tell Sarah?" Sam asked as they both walked to the parking lot.
"The truth." G told him.
"Any ideas where you'll go?"
G gave him a look wanting to tell him but knew that it was dangerous even for Sam to know where they would be.
"I know you can't tell me. Just promise me that you're both be safe."
"We will."
"And stay there until you get the all clear. Don't go lone wolf on her." Sam stressed to him.
"I won't-"
"I mean it G," Sam demanded.
"You have my word. Take care of this partner."
"I will."
"See you soon."
On the way back to the house, G made a mental list of things that he needed to do before he contacted Sarah. He knew that Abby would keep Sarah occupied for at least another thirty minutes. The screen on the dashboard flashed up a notification.
Gibbs Home Phone
He hit the speaker button, "Callen."
"G? G? Help me," Natasha whispered.
"Tasha?"
"They found me…."
"Who found you? Tasha? Who?"
"They found me, G."
"Where is your detail, Natasha?"
"They're dead, G. They killed them."
"Where are you?"
"Hiding...I'm in the basement…"
"I'll call Jethro-."
"There isn't time! Please G, I need your help." She begged.
"Tasha-"
He heard gunshots and screaming then the phone went dead.
"Tasha? Natasha!" He cursed and turned down a back road to get to Gibbs home.
