Uchiha Sasuke

"One. Two. Good morning. Three. Hello, hello. Good morning. Six. Right to class, everyone right to class." Sasuke said in his best teacher voice, waving his students into his classroom, keeping headcount. His dark grey eyes followed the others running or walking to their classes, making sure the first morning went well. He glanced around, hearing the bell beeping softly for the one-minute warning. The hallway was deserted, his cue to get inside and greet his students. Just as he walked in, the door shutting close behind him, he walked over to his desk in the far corner just in front of the whiteboard. He had a good advantage to see his classroom entirely like this, even sitting down with the angle he was at. Bell rang loudly and students talking slowly died down. Uchiha Sasuke taught English 1 and English 2 in this high school, along with AP English, but thankfully this morning it was his English 2 students from last year so the class already knew the process.

"Good morning everyone," he greeted with a smile, walking in front of the whiteboard and standing in the center. "Well we already know each other here, glad to see you all." he chuckled and the students gave a soft laugh. Sasuke nodded and folded his hands into a fist before relaxing. "All of you are probably excited to be sophomores already, so fast. Soon you all will be seniors… well I have a little project for you guys. It will be due at the end of the year, so you have time to procrastinate." He said sarcastically and the class laughed again. Sasuke always made sure to make his classroom productive but a little fun too, kids needed to know balance and how to work that balance in life. "I want each of you to write a Before and After essay on what the expectations of your high school experience will be like. The before is now, the current time you are here. After is…" he trailed off expertly.

"In the future…" the class said in unison and he smiled, nodding his head.

"Glad to see those early birds are up, those still sleeping-" he clapped twice and some students in the back snapped awake, the class laughing a bit harder. "Okay!" he said lightly but sternly to get their attention back. "So this will be a four-page essay,"

A hand shot into the air, and he recognized the eagerness to please the student. Sasuke pointed at her and she went to ask her question when there was a knock at his door. Sasuke walked over, knowing the class was silent to hear what was on the other side of the door. He saw the principal standing there through the small glass window on the door and opened the door quickly. "Mr. Hatake, everything okay?" he asked the silver-haired man who gave him the briefest smile.

"Oh yeah, just a small mistake on the rosters. I gave the other English 2 teacher- Mrs. Smith, one too many students. Your first period had an opening so I was hoping you would take him in?" Kakashi rarely made mistakes like this, and Sasuke was wondering what could make the man miss the mistake so late. Glancing behind him was a blonde, blue-eyed teen looking half bored at his cellphone. Though that's not what made him blink several times, no it was when the boy turned and regarded him with said blue eyes and gave a smile. Sasuke was suddenly remembering a time when he was up against a wall, blue eyes peering into his very soul it seemed and a smile turning into a wolfish grin. Oh, how he would fall into those ocean blue depths, allow himself to be drowned in them every time he looked directly at them. Sasuke was so struck at the similarities that brought on the buried memory, he barely heard Kakashi talking to him.

"Huh?" He snapped out of his trip down memory lane and looked at Kakashi's half-expecting face before clearing his throat. Sasuke was never one to be caught off guard, so the dumbfounded look on his face had the older man smiling internally. "Right, of course. Always room in my class for a new student." he smiled softly at the kid and opened his door for him. "Go on in and find yourself a seat, I'll be right in."

"Sweet," Boruto said, shoving the phone into his back pocket and skipping right in without so much as a backward glance.

Once the kid was in, Sasuke pulled the door shut and took a breath. He had to take a moment to himself so he could process what he had just seen. Slowly he turned to look at Kakashi and raised a fine brow at the older man, also his boss. "His kid?" he asked and Kakashi nodded with a glance through the small glass window, seeing him pass a group of blushing girls.

"Uzumaki Boruto, imagine that. Looks just like him," Kakashi said with a softness to his voice. Before he became the principal of the school ten years ago, he was the English teacher and taught most of the students here now parents, including Naruto and Sasuke both. Oh how many times did he catch the two sneaking around classes just to make out and who knows what. Kakashi never said anything though until later on, always thinking that one should love whoever one loved no matter the openness of it or not. Seeing Naruto's kid, so much like his father when he was that age just panged his heart a little at how fast time does fly.

Sasuke seemed to be thinking the same thing, never really caring for the time that had passed until seeing Boruto. It brought on memories- painful memories of what happened in their last year together. In these very halls, he could see it again. Naruto was stomping off, book in hand and bag on his shoulder. They had been fighting for months and then had split up two weeks before this scene, and Sasuke had enough of the cold shoulder Naruto was giving him. He had grabbed him by the arm, forced the blonde to look at him, demanded to know what happened and why they broke up. Naruto barely looked at him, kept looking at the floor and Sasuke remembered thinking that he would just shove his face into it if he wanted to keep looking at it. Naruto mumbled something and Sasuke tried to get closer to him, trying to let those eyes drown him sweetly again. Yes if he could just get him to talk, get him to change his mind about the break-up, then he could go back to that sweetness Naruto always had with him. Sasuke always thought the breakup at the time was over his mother's passing, done out of anger and pain but what Naruto said next was heartbreaking.

"I...I'm not into you anymore okay? Fucking hell, you didn't get that when I ended it? You're clingy and just over the top. People stared and I hated it! You're walking around screaming gay and I can't be seen like that around people. Shit gets around and it's ugly to be seen around you, to be seen like that. I feel gross and I just want fucking wash my mouth out with soap every time I think about what we did, so fuck off would you!"

Those very words ripped Sasuke apart, just remembering it had him flinching. A month after that, he learned that Hinata was pregnant with Naruto's kid and that child was here today… sitting in his classroom. He had stayed far away from Naruto and anything Naruto related, kept himself busy to do so- even became a high school teacher once he got his degree. Seven years of teaching, and nearly sixteen years of ignoring his past and just looking at what it brought him, just a smack from the past.

"Yeah… thanks for the head up." Sasuke pointed out to his boss before walking back inside his classroom and starting up the day's lesson as if nothing had happened.

The bell rang loudly in the quiet class, but the sudden shift of students rushing out to go get lunch and hang out with their friends was always a little chaotic. Since becoming a teacher, Sasuke saw the differences in his mindset versus now and when he was a student. Was he always rushing out to see someone? Grab food and aimlessly talk about how boring or stupid some of his classes were with others? Sasuke was never a talkative person, so he couldn't see how if he ever did. It seems like a lifetime ago, but years have gone by and Sasuke sees high school very differently. Some things have changed but not all, especially his lunchtime routine. As his students were rushing out, he lifted his head from reading a book and started to stand up, he too wanted to grab his lunch. "Okay, please remember that I need those syllabus papers signed and brought back by the end of the week!" he called out as the last of the kids shuffled out. Five hours in and only two more to go, okay he can do that. The first day is always going by quickly anyhow.

He made sure he had his keys on him to his classroom and locked the door right as he left. The door shut soundly and into the mass of eager teens to leave he went. Wasn't that hard to get down the hallway and down the first floor where the teacher's lobby was waiting for him, not when you knew the flow of students well. No doubt the others were in there and waiting to start talking about what kind of students they had for the year. Yes, teachers gossip about the kids that they have- human nature one would guess. He walked by the lockers slamming shut and kids running down the halls, to which he warned them and kept walking straight to the end of the first floor's hallway. The teacher's lobby door was shut, but he turned the handle, and in he went.

It wasn't large or too small, but it did feel crowded sometimes if there were more than six teachers in there at a time. There was a round table with chairs to sit at right as you walked in, a love seat across from the table. Counters, sink, cabinets, fridge, and microwave are all against the wall adjacent to the table. In the room was Mrs. Smith, a short older woman that could be crude to her students for no reason at all other than to be a bitch. The second person was Sai Yamanaka, one of Sasuke's friends out of high school that became a teacher just as he did. When you're first introduced to him, Sai is distinguished by his total lack of emotion on his paler features. Later when you get to know the man, you find that he is brilliant in a lot of subjects, not just art though that is his main subject he loves to talk about. Sai is honest, a little too honest sometimes but he is always there for a friend in need. He was there for Sasuke when things went bad for him and Naruto. Sai is mostly quiet and keeps to himself, always thinking about his students and his friends if there was a problem. Sasuke and Sai were similar in that aspect, similar in a lot of things. Honestly, if it weren't for Sai having greyer skin than himself, the two would be nearly indistinguishable. Especially now that they are older, both with very deep grey colored eyes, and jet black hair, and the fact they are the same height. Both gentlemen's hair was grown out to their shoulders, but Sasuke usually kept his in a low ponytail and Sai had his more cut for his face shape. Besides that, they wore dark clothing, and generally, students confused them most of the year, which Sai found cute and Sasuke just dismissed it after this always happened for seven years.

Yes, he and Sai had been teaching for the same amount of time, but Sai is the Art and Ceramics teacher. No surprise there really, Sai is an amazing artist from the time he moved here his freshman year to the school to now. Sasuke is always amazed by his art and his teaching style. Sai can get the most stubborn students to find joy in drawing, painting, or making something with their hands, and that always makes Sai smile each time. It's the same as when Sasuke can sit a student down and show them how well they can actually write a simple essay or even a novel where they didn't get the point in trying. Teaching these young minds, seeing their eyes light up at what they discover they can do every day makes Sasuke know deeper in his heart that teaching was the way to go than trying to run some stuck-up company his father had created over many years ago. Don't get him wrong, now that his brother is taking control, it will be ten times better and more forward-thinking than it was sixty years ago, but Sasuke knew that wasn't the place for him and so did Sai.

Sai was making a fresh cup of tea when he saw Sasuke coming up beside him to the fridge to get his lunch. "Early as usual," Sai said with a soft smile, turning around to lean back against the counter and look at his older friend. Of course, he was only two years younger than Sasuke, but some would say Sai is years older than him mentally speaking.

Sasuke unzipped his lunch box and pulled out his bento box. "Always am, have to get here before someone tries to take my food." his eyes snapped to the quiet old lady sitting on the loveseat, chewing her sandwich and reading. He had class running a little late one year, and when he got out and came down to lunch- he had found her eating away his freshly made rolls and favorite sashimi mix with eel sauce! She claimed that she didn't recognize the box as Sasuke's and it had been sitting in there for a few days now. As if the food would be good if it had been and it wasn't like Sasuke used a different lunch box every day! Oh, the rage he had that day still burns in his mind, but now he laughs to himself thinking back how Sai had grabbed his hand and dragged him away from the older woman with nothing but a smile on his face while Sasuke was cursing at her. Sai- always making sure his head is in the right place after those days it wasn't.

"Sasuke!" Sai said rather loudly, which indicated to Sasuke that he had zoned out again, so bad that Sai shouted to get his attention. Man, what was wrong with him today? He never turned people out this bad before and that had Sai immediately looking closer at Sasuke. "Would your absent-mindedness be the cause of one Uzumaki Boruto?" he asked outright and didn't miss the subtle flinch and the quick flip of the bento lid opening.

"What?" Sasuke looked at those almost empty eyes that were just as dark as his own. Though he saw the concern Sai had for him, knowing that this was coming from simple worry and not trying to stir old memories. Too bad they were already stirred. Sasuke looked away and sighed, getting his chopsticks to start eating, his fingers sliding into place after years of use. "I didn't even know he lived here anymore…" he muttered and picked up a roll, taking a bite and slowly chewing.

Sai watched his friend, sipping the tea he made and waiting. He knew very well which Sasuke was referring to, no doubt having a lot of feelings buried deep under that iron heart of his. Sai was patient and attentive to Sasuke as he chewed the first bite of his roll. Sai was there that day when Naruto had ripped Sasuke's very soul out it seemed like at the time. He heard the words said and saw those once sharp black eyes slowly yet very quickly turn to nothing but ash. Sai had only been a sophomore that year, but Sasuke had been his first friend when he moved. Sasuke was quiet and liked to observe more than talk unlike everyone else around them. Namely, Naruto, who Sai learned to like after learning how to be more energetic for a time. However, he had been the shoulder Sasuke cried on, and ever since Sasuke swore off all things related to or about Naruto, he respected that. So if Sasuke refused to speak about it, then he would apologize for the question and move on.

But then, "He looks so much like...him, Sai. Like scary like his father." Sasuke said, almost in shock that he was talking about this. Of course, he saw that Sasuke refused to use Naruto's name, but that was alright.

"I haven't had the chance to see him, though Kakashi mentioned him in passing. Besides, I have him for the sixth period. Inojin hangs out with him, but Boruto never comes around the house." Sai explained.

Ah, Sasuke was wondering how Sai knew what was troubling him exactly- then again Sai is brilliant. Well, he stopped to take a bite of his tuna and chewed for a moment. After he swallowed, he took a sip of his water and continued. "I thought it was him for a moment, but…it's been years. He's grown and married, probably a bunch of kids by now." Sasuke jabbed another piece of tuna and shook his head, "It's whatever. I'm not going to treat him any different than any of my other students," and that was the end of that.

Little did Sasuke know that Sai was about to tell him Naruto was divorced. Yes he may not talk to Naruto, they weren't as close as he and Sasuke, but that didn't stop him from knowing things. Especially his wife Ino from telling him all the hot gossip, and she of course is best friends with Hinata. The day Naruto asked for a divorce, she had come over and cried to Ino for about ten minutes before saying it had been over between them for years. However, Sai respects Sasuke and so when he made a point of changing topics he didn't even miss a beat.

Boruto flopped down at his table, lunch tray before him. He had just gotten out of P.E. class and was starving! Who made his schedule anyways? English 2 in the morning, then Algebra 1, then Chemistry 1 and 2 followed by P.E.!? He would need to see if he could move classes for a more suited schedule to him, but at least he had Art class after lunch so he could take a little nap. Art was boring, besides he was friends with Inojin and his dad is the Art teacher here. Oh yeah, it would be totally fine! Just as he opened his can of soda he bought from the vendor, his friends Inojin, Shikadai, Mitsuki, and Sarada all came and sat down at the rectangular table. They each had their lunch trays and seemed hungry as well.

"Hey, guys!" Boruto said cheerfully, drinking his caffeinated drink.

Inojin raised blonde brows in the question of his friends' cheery mood. "How are you not ready to go home?" he asked and started to eat his hamburger.

"For real man, school is such a drag," Shikadai complained as he did every day at school, barely picking at his food if you could call the pile of brown food.

Boruto snickered at his two friends, shrugging and starting to munch on some chips. "Dunno, just… I dunno," he said, wanting to avoid why he wasn't ready to go home yet.

"I believe it's because he is trying to make up for not going to the party last night after his father most likely caught him sneaking off." came the matter-of-fact tone from Mitsuki.

Everyone turned to him, in silent shock at what he said while the teen ignored their looks and ate a romaine salad. Then all turned to Boruto quickly.

"Dude, you missed the party?" Shikadai asked, a faint smile on his lips.

"I cannot believe you were dumb enough to even try and sneak out on your dad." Sarada scolded with a shake of her head.

"Of course, this explains your more eagerness to stay at school and less to go home," Inojin provided and tilted his head slightly.

As his friends gave their two cents to his life, Boruto was frowning deeper and deeper until he clutched his bags of chips in his fist, crushing them to nothing but crumbs. "Oh yeah! What the hell do you know about it, Mitsuki?" he fumed at his friend that started all of this.

The blue hair teen shrugged and blankly looked at Boruto. "I got a text from the others there asking if I wished to go, and I brought it up to my father. He mentioned that your father most likely wouldn't let you go, so of course, I didn't want to be rude and sneak off nor did I want to be there without you." He explained his reasoning and again there was silence. Mitsuki always spoke as if he were a robot and he always had this air of higher importance yet utter ignorance at the same time.

Boruto leaned back in his chair and huffed, tossing the chips down and taking a chance with his pasta noodles. "Yeah whatever, not like there won't be any other parties for me to sneak off to." he gave a sly smirk, and the others either warned him or laughed and wished him luck, the anger there was now gone, and chatting up with his friends. Best friends always forgive each other after a fight or disagreement. At least that was their motto when they all became friends.

Lunch was over forty-five minutes later and students were scrambling to get to their sixth-period classes. Teachers were guiding students or telling them to hurry or risk being late for the first day. Boruto was rushing up the second flight of stairs to get to his art class, which he was informed by Inojin that his dad would not let him sleep in class, a shame. He could have been Boruto's favorite chill teacher. The hallways were becoming empty fast and it seem Boruto was alone when-

Bam! Boruto wasn't sure what just happened but he felt a sharp hit in his shoulder just as he reached the top of the stairs. Only to tumble back down them again. Boruto blinked as now a stinging pain was running up and down his left ankle and both of his wrists. Great, they were probably twisted or something but Boruto pushed himself off the dirty floor anyways, looking up to three people standing in the middle of the stairs. All of them looked at Boruto with matching smiles, clearly not hiding that something happened and they caused it. So one of them had shoved him off the stairs? Seriously what a bunch of jerks. What was with them all wearing thick fluffy jackets too? Like they were in a school gang that everyone didn't mess with or something along those lines.

Boruto stood up, his ankle and wrists screaming in pain now that he had moved, but his mouth was twisted in a frown as he looked at the one in the middle. He was certainly taller than the two around him, his hair covered by the hoodie he wore, but his eyes were round and brown, his smile ever so wide with mischief behind them Boruto scoffed at him. "Yo, mind where you're going?" he growled as he stomped up the stairs, a bad move now because he could feel his ankle tightening in pain. He gritted his teeth as he passed them and up the stairs he finally was. Bunch of stupid jerks that had no business acting like they were so cool. As far as Boruto is concerned, he's going to be the cool one here. Not them. Boruto went to make a dash for the art room when he was grabbed by the back of his shirt and yanked back to those boys. He whirled around on his heels, but the middle one- the leader, shoved him roughly against the wall and snickered.

"Oh lookie here, someone doesn't know the rules of the school." he sneered in Boruto's face, and the blonde gagged. His breath stank like dog shit and he was pretty sure the dude hasn't showered in a week.

"Dude, like back up or your stench, is going to kill me." he coughed and waved his hand in front of his nose to waft the smell away.

The two smaller teens laughed but the middle one scowled and grabbed Boruto by the collar of his shirt, twisting it and pulling Boruto forward. Now eye to eye with each other, Boruto kept his hands clenched at his sides. Dad always said if he were ever in a fight, to let the person throw the first punch and finish their asses. He would rather have Boruto in trouble for ending a fight than starting one. So as much as he wanted to punch the guy and get to class, he just scowled back at the dude.

"Oh yeah? How about I make your face stink!?" the taller male roared and Boruto just lost all senses. Was that even a threat? Make his face stink? How in the world would that work? Before the blonde could even snicker, the teen shook Boruto like he was a paper bag and then promptly dropped him on his ass. Okay, ow.

Boruto frowned up at the leader and huffed. "Dude what's your problem? You shoved me, remember that?" he went to get up but suddenly a flying foot came to his stomach and Boruto went down again, holding his midsection as it burned from the harsh abuse. Boruto coughed, wheezing to get some air in, and glared at the kids around him. There was no one, literally just the four of them as the minute bell went off. Technically that wasn't a punch but Boruto didn't care about that now. All he wanted to do was wipe that smirk off their faces, and he would. With the adrenaline pumping his movements and thoughts, the pain dulled and the blonde was flying at the middle one first. He landed a solid punch on the guy's jaw, making him stumble a little. Boruto didn't realize he had yelled and was now panting, holding his fists up before his face ready to fight now.

But it was immediately cut short when a sharp voice echoed in the halls and all turned to see who it was. Mr. Uchiha was quickly walking to them, a frown in between his brows and on his pale lips. The three teens around Boruto cursed in unison and bolted right down the stairs and out the front doors. Only Boruto stood there with a glare at their backs before the pain came back twice as bad. He grabbed his midsection and leaned against the wall, trying to play it off. He even waved at his English teacher, smiling wide as nothing happened. "Hey, what's up?" he asked in a strained voice. Okay, he knew it seemed like he was being a pansy but his stomach seriously hurt. Just how hard had that kid kicked him? Mr. Uchiha stopped in front of Boruto, looking for signs of abuse to his face or such but it was just his stomach they had kicked and shoved him down the stairs. His black eyes were calm as they looked over him, a little creepy this up close as they seemed like two black holes. He went to push off the wall and walk it off when Mr. Uchiha stopped him by putting a hand on his shoulder.

"Let's get you to the nurse, I'll inform Mr. Hatake about this incident." Sasuke went to walk him, but Boruto tried to pull away and shrug it off.

"Nah, it's chill. Just a bunch of jerks. I'm cool," he tried playing it off but Sasuke raised a brow right when he started coughing rather hard. He groaned and clamped a hand over his mouth, feeling suddenly sick and wanting to puke his guts up.

Sasuke patted his back, easing him down to the steps to the nurse's office. "Yeah, come on. I'll walk you there. Don't worry, no one will know I walked you to the nurse." he offered Boruto a smile and the blonde nodded, not noticing that his teacher had noticed his urge to be seen as the cool kid. He also didn't know that he reminded Sasuke very much like his dad at that moment, trying to play tough when he wasn't at the time.

Sasuke walked him into the nurse's office and left him in her care, going to the back to talk to Kakashi about what just happened. The kids wouldn't get away with it since they were in front of security cameras, but what made Sasuke stop for a moment was the fact that once he made the report- Naruto would be called and he would come to save his kid. He was sure he could avoid him, stay in his class until he was gone. Yeah, he could do that, not like he would be needed to give the report directly to Naruto. Yeah… it would be okay. With that final thought, he knocked on the wooden door and entered when Kakashi permitted him.

AN: Ahhhhh okay well that was longer than expected, but good I hope. Now just need to plot chapter four- mmm should I? Lol, torture the already abused characters. Let me know what ya'll think!
