AN: Apologies once again for the short silence, I've recently become ill. So enjoy this little chapter. Thank you all who have stayed by me all this time 3

Kakashi Hatake

Kakashi sat in a half lean position in his old leather chair, hands folded over his lap with one leg crossing the other. The neutral expression on his old face while he listened to Boruto explain what had occurred in the hallway of the second floor earlier today. According to Boruto, he was just minding his own business when he was forcibly shoved down the stairs by a group of three teens roaming the hallways. Words were exchanged and the leader of the three that had pushed Boruto, to begin with, punched him right in the stomach. From there Boruto only returned the punch to the jaw, evidence of that he could see on the knuckles already bruising. The fight thankfully didn't escalate further from there thanks to Mr. Uchiha who had been checking the hallway for stray students and stumbled upon them fighting. The three had slipped away from Sasuke but no matter there were security cameras in place of where they slipped off to, Kakashi wasn't all that worried about catching these three. Besides he had a feeling of who the students were since they had been problem repeaters in the past. Still, Kakashi listened while Boruto explained how he was only defending himself and there wasn't much anyone should do about it, that it was nothing. Of course, the blonde was dismissing the fact he was bullied, only raving how if Mr. Uchiha hadn't stepped in he would have had those "idiots" running tail in between their legs.

Oh, how the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. Kakashi remained neutral of course, keeping his thoughts to himself without indication as to what he was thinking. Boruto had glanced at him a few times while he talked about the fight, only to see if he was listening and Kakashi wondered if the boy thought he wasn't listening or wasn't fully interested in his tale. Whatever the case, the principal would assure the boy that he did care about the bullying and that it would be handled, but if Boruto is anything like his father then it would lead to convincing the boy that matters had to be taken care of here without looking... what was the phrase? "A weakling" as one would put it lightly.

Boruto was in the chair across the principal and shrugged, half-smile in place. He had been explaining how lame it was to call his parents over a less than a fight. It hadn't been anything when the teacher stepped in. Not to mention his dad would just yell at him over being in a fight and then further embarrass him by talking to the kids and their parents over nothing. Just like last night...

"So ya see, there isn't much my old man can do," he said. Boruto had explained that calling his father would just cause a mess of problems and only make him look even weaker to those who came at him. "Like my parents don't need to know about this- well mainly my dad." he urged in what he thought was subtle, but Kakashi could hear the plea in the tone of his voice.

"I understand," Kakashi started, but Boruto cut him off with a jump to his feet.

"Great!" he smiled wider, "Nice chattin' with ya!" he waved, starting to leave.

"Boruto," Kakashi stated calmly, catching the boy's attention. When Boruto turned to look at him, Kakashi gestured with his hand for him to take his seat across from him once again. The boy sighed as he took the silent command, doing so with another slump in the chair. Kakashi leaned forward, elbows now on the oak desk and fingers interlaced to hold his chin on top of them.

"As I said, I understand. You believe that the fight would have been won had a teacher not stepped in, and you also believe that calling your parents about the situation would ruin your reputation that has yet to start on the first day of school." Kakashi explained, seeing he hit the point right on the nose when blue eyes flicked away from his stare.

"Yeah, whatever." Boruto tries to dismiss it, crossing his arms over his chest.

Oh how much you are your father's son, Kakashi thought before continuing. Kakashi almost chuckled at how he looked, taking him back to the same pouting blonde years back. Naruto often got into fights over so much that it was a daily occurrence during his first two years of high school. Naruto didn't like it when his dad came in, probably the same reason boruto didn't want to call his father in now.

"Boruto, it is the school board's policy that if a student is endangered in any way by a threat, that the student's family be called and informed of the situation. I also take pride in making sure my student's school year is not disrupted by any threats as little as possible, if any at all." he started and noticed that he was losing the boy's focus when he started with that sentence, so he changed tactics.

Kakashi cleared his throat and rested his arms folded on top of his desk, appearing more relaxed and calm. "I knew your father when he was a student here. Naruto always played the tough guy act with me any time there was a fight he got into, for the same reason you're giving me." he chuckled softly, the wrinkles around his eyes crinkled a little as he did. Then he saw the hidden interest Boruto was giving him, nodding as to confirm the silent question the blonde was asking. Yes, his father used to be in quite a few fights before his time.

"I'll tell you what I told your father, m'kay?" Kakashi continued to make his point. "He will not be upset, more relieved than anything that you are okay. I promise, Boruto," he assured him with a soft smile.

Boruto fell silent, well less moody now as Kakashi explained. Honestly, he wanted to know more about why his old man was in so many fights as Kakashi made it out to seem. It was hard to believe given how much of a law-abiding cop his dad is. He didn't seem to break any kind of rules, but those nagging questions were swimming around his already confused thoughts. Would his father not be upset with him? And what was the deal with his old man back in the day? Did he care if his dad was upset with him or not? Why would he? But it seemed Principal Hatake knew that his father wouldn't be upset and sat there trying to answer his questions. Boruto sighed, looking back at the principal before him that had nothing but promise in that smile he gave him.

"Yeah, okay I guess you're right." he huffed slightly.

Kakashi smiled a little more and nodded, reaching for the phone sitting next to him on the desk. "Good. Now, what is your father's phone number?" he asked, punching in the numbers as Boruto gave them.
