It was a normal morning in the Lightfoot household. Ian had just left for school and Colt left for his patrol and Laurel was still working out, Barley decided to wake his daughter

"Oh, Angel...It is time to wake my princess" Barley called from outside the door. Then his winged offspring came out looking pale and gloomy "Sweetie are you okay?"

"Daddy I don't feel too good…" Angel whimpered. "My tummy hurts"

"Okay, sweetie… Let me see your head" Barley kneeled to his daughter's level and placed his large hand on her tiny head.

"You're hot...You have a fever" Barley explained to his daughter

"A fever, can I still go to school?" Angel asked.

"I don't think so sweetheart, you don't want your friends to get sick do you?" Angel shook her head

"Well then, you should eat some breakfast and I'll call the school and tell them you're not coming to school okay" Angel nodded her head and disappeared into the kitchen

"Barley...Are you going to go to work today?" Laurel asked her eldest son

"No...I'm staying at home...Merlin can cover for me...I need to make sure Angel is okay.

They then heard vomiting from the kitchen. They raced to find Angel puking in the trash can. Laurel looked and saw that the little girl's cereal is barely even eaten. Barley went to his daughter and held back her hair as she continued to upchuck. Laurel when into the medicine cabinet and gave Angel some medicine for her stomach flu.

"You should get some rest sweetie, I'll be back okay...I'll call every once in a while to check up on you two" and with that, Laurel left for work.

Barley tucked his daughter back into bed, placing Mr. Fluffy underneath her arm. and left the room to let her sleep off the medicine. He walked towards the living room and turned on the tv at a low volume. He stared ahead at nothing particularly. This reminded him of when Angel was sick as a baby

Baby Angel was such a joy to be around the house. She was a pro at crawling but at walking and flying, she was still a little iffy. But there was one thing that Angel wanted that made Barley really bummed out was independence, Not wanting to be held so much(Only if she was tired or if she wanted to be picked up) Not too many hugs and kisses, trying her best to walk on her own, most of the time resulting in falling or going "kaboom"

But that day was different, Angel was a little more clingy than she usually was, not letting Ian or Barley set her down for a second. Laurel and Colt were at work when this happened. Barley was holding her at the moment, bouncing her a little in his large arms

"What's the matter, sweetie?" Barley asked her. He placed a hand on her head and heat was on his hand

"Geez, you're hot...Must be a summer fever…" Barley whispered before kissing her on the head. She whined and buried her face into his chest. She softly babbled to him.

"I know sweetie...I wish you can tell Daddy what's wrong with you princess…" Barley comforted her.

A little while later, Barley managed to get her asleep. He placed a bunch of toys around her while He and Ian kept a close eye on her.

"Barley...I think she may be sick…" Ian said as he ate his lunch

"Maybe...we can't be too sure…" Barley replied

"Are you kidding...She has a temperature of 103 degrees, was bloated earlier until you pressed her stomach, and she's very clingy...That's not normal"

Then they heard Angel wail, seeing that she was not in either of their arms. Barley rushed in, scooped her up, and gently hushed her. Angel started to rub at her right ear and whined. Barley exhaled from his nose.

"We should take her to the doctor. Angel wailed in response to What Ian said.

"Remember last time we took her to the doctor…" Ian remembered that Barley took her to the doctor and he went with him. She was full of energy like any baby would. They went in and the doctor told her that she needed a shot. When the doctor left to get the needle, She squirmed and tried to flap her wings, but Barley and Ian tried their best to comfort her. Then the shot came. Let's just say that Angel was a bawling mess and so was her father because he felt bad for her and Ian just cringed, feeling bad for both of them and was embarrassed at the same time.

"It's okay princess, no scary needles this time…" Barley comforted his daughter. "And your right Ian... we should take her to the doctor"

The ride and the preparation to take her wasn't easy. She fought both brothers when they tried to take her to the van and she wailed and screamed all the way there

Ian tried to frantically hush her but it was no use. Then Barley tried to quiet her down and her large cries turned into tiny whines and whimpers

"She can sense that your worried Ian…"

"But she's yours…"

"This can apply to any family member...I read that the baby can sense that your distressed and can pick up on the worry"

When they got there, they told her the baby's symptoms and a doctor immediately took her in, making the already terrified Angel cry, reaching for Barley

"Wait Are-Are you sure you don't want me to go with her and are you going to-" Barley tried to go after them. He desperately wanted to calm his daughter down and his gut was telling him that he didn't trust the doctor

"Don't worry, Your daughter is in good hands...She'll be just fine…" a cyclops doctor told him as he carried away his crying daughter. Barley's heart completely shattered hearing his baby cry. He felt a few tears slip from his face. He waiting in the room with Ian comforting him.

He called Laurel and Colt and told them what was happening with Angel. The couple then came as soon as they heard. They all felt horrible for Barley...Seeing him in despair and hurt. His baby girl was sick and he ended up at the same spot that He was when he was younger when he had to say goodbye to his dad.

After a few hours, the doctor came out of the door.

"Okay...Luckily you brought her in at the right time...She has a small ear infection, with a few drops that can be fixed. She has a small fever and a bit of the stomach flu...but overall she's fine, she just needs to be frequently watched. We're gonna kept her overnight in case something happens…"

The family exchanged worried glances. "Can we at least see her?" Barley asked

"Well...Only one of you can see her...too many people will trigger a bit of excitement so only one of you can see her.

The family thought that it was right for Barley to see her since He's her father and they were really close and he was already in distress not seeing her.

"Now Mr. Lightfoot, I know your first instinct is to hold her, but we need her to stay in the IVC crib to keep a close eye on her vitals

Barley was really bummed about that but he understood. The doctor led him to the room where Angel was. He slowly opened the door and saw his baby girl in tubes. It made him sick to his stomach seeing his energetic baby in tubes like his father was

He slowly took a few steps inside the room. Angel noticed him and tried to go to him by flapping her wings and squirming but the crib was preventing her from moving

"Hey Baby girl…" The baby responded with a bunch of happy babbles. Then she started to whimper.

"I know pretty girl...But you'll...You'll get better" Barley's lips began to tremble and tears started to fall down his face. Angel noticed her father upset and placed a tiny hand on the glass and Barley responded by placing his larger hand on the glass.

"Now that's a close connection...She must really love her papa" one of the nurses told him by the doorway, another nurse behind her was crying, seeing how close they were

Barley nodded his head and turned back to his child. "Go to sleep, princess...Daddy's not going anywhere...He's gonna stay with you…close those sleepy eyes

Angel tried to go to sleep but the machines making sounds make it a little rough. Barley kneeled closer to her and sang Daddy's little girl to her. It instantly made her sleepy and she was fast asleep. Barley continued to watch over her. Ian Laurel and Colt watched with the happiest grins n their faces. They said goodbye to barley after he told them that he was going to stay overnight for Angel. By the next morning, Barley wheeled a happy Angel to Guinevere the second to take her home...He then heard a tiny voice talking to him

"Daddy?...Daddy?"

Barley found himself asleep on the couch and a tiny voice woke him up. Turns out it was only Angel in her pajamas holding her teddy bear.

"Hey sweetie, you feeling any better…"

"Yeah...the seerup helped a little…" Angel

"Syrup sweetie...What time is it?"

"5:30"

"I guess someone has been asleep all day...Wanna play Quests of Yore" Angel instantly nodded her head.

The father-daughter duo played Quests of Yore for a solid hour. Barley called his mother and told her that the medicine helped her. He fed her chicken soup to help with the fever.

They then spent the rest of the night watching movies...mostly old movies.

By the next morning, Angel was a little more ship-shape than she was yesterday but laurel told her that she should stay home just in case that she got sick again and Barley was more than happy to watch over her once more until she was well enough to go back to school.
