Dear Rachel,

You should receive my letter before you head back to Lima for Thanksgiving. Things at the base are going well; I'm feeling really confident on my trial missions – and I'd rather be out in the fields than in a classroom all day. We still have training in classrooms, but at least it's not 7 hours a day like in school! I can't even think about life after the Army right now, everything I do is related to training. Education can wait, what I'm doing here is important not only for me, but for our country – for all of us really. Before my dad was dishonorably discharged, he made a positive difference, and that's what I want to do here.

I've been writing to Mr. Schue, and he says that Sectionals are the week after Thanksgiving. The set list is based on 'Night at the Movies' so they'll be mash-ups of 'Footloose' and 'Shout' from Animal House. I wish I could stay in Lima an extra week, but training never really ends here – always something new to pick up.

I can't wait to see you again; I'll be coming to Lima on Wednesday and leaving early Saturday morning. That should leave us some time to spend together. Don't worry about me over here; I'm doing just fine here, better than I thought. Chances are I'll be moved to Army reserve, which means that I won't be going to fight in combat.

Love forever, Finn
