Ch. 10

Jade's P.O.V

New message from Vega

Wait, where are you? Are you alone?

"Ah shit" I mumble.

Cat perks up from her lax stance in the seat.

"What is it Jade?" She asks, cocking her head with concern.

"Tori just texted me, she's asked where I am.."

"So? What's the problem….Oh wait…that is a good question, where are we Jade?" Cat wonders, sounding lost in thought.

"uhm" I sigh, trying to read the signs on the roads we're on, like it matters. I remember that Seattle is more up north anyway, or I think so anyway. I realize that I still haven't texted Tori back yet, so I pull over into the parking lot of some supermarket and pull out my Pearphone.

We just made it to Portland…I'm with Cat. She begged me to let her come with.

I send the text hoping she won't be mad, even though I know she probably won't I still don't know how she feels about all this. I'm determined to get there, to see her, to apologize for all the times I've been shitty to her, for all the times I put her down, snuffed her out when she was excited. For all the times I've hurt her.

I'm pulled out of my thoughts by Cat's meek voice.

"Jade, I'm hungry" She whines. My stomach growls in unison with her whine.

"Ah, Cat I'm so sorry! I was so caught up in thinking about Tor-I mean all this mess that I didn't stop for food for a while, lets go get something to eat."

After stopping at a local fast food joint and refreshing our stomachs, we got back in the car. By now it was early in the morning and I was starting to get tired.

"Damn" I yawn. "Should we go to a hotel?" I ask Cat. She seems to mirror my mood because her eyelids are starting to close.

"Yeah" She says quietly, on the verge of sleep.

"Okay I'll drive us to the nearest one".

After we got a room and got situated, we changed for bed and climbed in. Cat and I share a bed since we are used to it having done it more than once due to sleepovers at Cat's house. It doesn't bother me much; she is my best friend after all. I'm about to fall asleep when my eyes shoot open. I forgot to check my phone I was so distracted with getting a room and food I didn't even think to notice if Tori texted back. I wander over to the T.V. stand where my phone is charging and lock screen for messages. Sure enough it's there, a text from Tori. My heart skips a beat when I see her name on my screen.

"Cut it out you sap" I think silently reading the text on my screen.

Oh! I'm really glad you didn't go alone. Portland isn't too far from where I am so that's good. :)

Along with the text is an address she has sent. Seems like she's always one step ahead of me.

Yeah, me too. I'll see you soon Vega, goodnight. :)

I quietly slide back into the covers next to an already unconscious Cat, I'm nervous to see Tori, but excited at the same time. These are feelings I haven't felt in a very long time, but they aren't unwelcomed.

Later that morning Cat and I awake feeling a little more rested and ready to conquer the next part of our journey. The last leg until we see Tori. I'm excited, and I know Cat is too. I plug the address into my maps and start the drive there.

After a couple more hours of driving we finally make it to Seattle, now my nervousness is really catching up to me, but I remain cool.

"Jade are we almost there" Cat asks, I can hear the excitement in her voice. I know we're both ready to get the hell out of this car and stretch our legs.

"Yeah, looks like we are 10 minutes away" I murmur, my thoughts growing more crowded by the second.

I'm nervous about what's going to happen when we get there, is her friend going to hate me? I'm sure she's told him all about me and how I've treated her.

"Jade" Cat pulls me out of my thoughts. "I can tell your panicking, stop it. Tori likes you and you know that better than I do. Stop doubting yourself, we didn't come out here for that. It's going to be fine" She says firmly.

It works and I snap out of my stooper. "You're right Cat" as I'm saying this the GPS chimes in to say we have arrived.

We step out of the car and I look up to see Tori racing down the stairs towards us,

"You guys actually came! I missed you so much" She chimes in her angelic voice, running towards us at what seems like full speed.

"TORI!" Cat reaches her arms out and engulfs the half-Latina in a big hug.

They hug for what feels like an eternity until Tori turns towards me. I look into her chocolate brown eyes and almost melt.

"Jade, you actually came. I-thank you" her voice quivers and I can see the tears starting to form.

"You really do care, you really…." She doesn't finish her sentence because I've engulfed her in a hug of my own.

"Vega, I'm so so so sorry. I will never not be guilty for how I've been treating you in the past, I….I was just too scared to admit my true feelings, to you and myself. I really do care about you Tori, I'm so sorry I've been such a bitch" I say feeling tears form in my eyes and a lump in my throat.

Tori melts into my embrace and I hers, it feels…right. In fact it feels better than when I would hug Beck. My shoulder feels wet and I realize Tori is really crying.

"You have no idea how long I've waited for this Jade…" She sobs into the nape of my neck. I feel horrible now, but good at the same time. Suddenly I hear a voice coming from behind us.

"So you're Jade West"
