CHAPTER 6: Meeting Midnight.

*Eddie's POV*

I snickered.

I had been staring at the Hatford house, wondering why Jake had been acting strange, when suddenly, I see Ben Mayors skatboard up to their house.

then, 5 minutes later, he goes flying off the Hatford's porch.

i wish i had caught it on camera.

Sighing, i lied on my bed, hoping to get a good nap. Just as i was falling asleep, my phone went off.

Groaning, i sat up and checked my phone.

a message from Jake.

Curious, i opened the message and read:

Eddie, meet me at the edge of the woods midnight?

he wanted to meet me at midnight? Does he not remember the last time that happened?

But i shrugged, and replied:

Sure thing.

Ruth's POV

"I'm going to go into town!" i called out to my aunt.

"Okay, be careful and dont get lost!"

I slipped on my black leather jacket, then left.

As i walked into town, i wondered where to go. I wanted to go out for a walk, but now i felt like exploring Buckman for a bit.

I decided to go to the park, since i remembered it to be close.

When i got to the park, there wasnt much people. only a few families, out and enjoying their evening.

I stopped and looked at a small family.

THey looked happy, with the parents laughing and pushing their kids on the swings.

A family... i miss that.

I bit my lip. A long time ago, my family was just like that.

Before she died, my mom had looked a lot like Mary. She was pretty, with a nice smile. My dad had been nice. I used to love the way his eyes would sparkle whenever he spoke to my mom or to me or my twin.

But then... everything changed.

I shookd the thoughts away. I wiped a tear that had begun to form, the blinked.

I wasnt the only one who was watching a family.

Sitting on a bench, wearing a black jacket, was a boy with black hair, like mine.

Scott Hatford.

He was staring at a couple who were walking with a little boy, also laughing. Not only that, but i think Scott had tears in his eyes.

I decided to walk over. "Hi." i said.

Scott looked up at me, startled. "...Hi."

"Um... you're Scott, right?"

He nodded. "You're Ruth Malloy."

I smiled a little. So far, I've only seen him 3 times, but i havent really talked to him.

"Can I sit?" i asked. He nodded.

I sat next to him. "So, why was your cousin acting like that earlier?"

"Jake? oh. well... i cant really tell. But it had to do with your cousin Eddie."

I grinned. "I'm guessing that he likes her?"

Scott nodded. The wind began to pick up. "I'm going to start heading home. Do you want to come?"

I nodded. THe wind was getting colder. We got up and left the park.

"How are you liking Buckman so far?" i asked. He shrugged. "Its diffrent. But its okay. I mean, at least i know some people."

I nodded. "Yeah. even if the only people you know are your new siblings and your neighbors."

He grinned a little. We crossed the swinging bridge, and arrived to our houses.

"So, I'll see you tomarrow." he said.

i nodded. "Bye."

intresting... he seems shy, but he's kinda nice. I thought about this as i went inside.

the thought stayed in my mind.

Eddie's POV

Ruth came into the kitchen. Apperantly, she had just been talking to the newest member of the Hatford group.

i quickly finished my dinner, then went upstairs, saying i had homework.

Later, as i was waiting for midnight to come, i plugged in my headphones into my phone and listened to music.

the song "Love Story" by Taylor Swift was playing.

Honestly, i dont get it. Why do some girls think that having a forbiddon relationship is romantic?

I dont get how they are all like "Oh, i want a relationship like Romeo and Juliet!"

I mean, i hate to spoil the ending, but they DIE. How is that romantic? Its nothing but drama.

Finally, midnight came. I got dressed into my black skinny jeans, and threw on a dark blue hoodie over my pajama top. I left my hair loose, put on a simple black baseball cap, then I pulled on my black tennis shoes, and slipped out of my window.

Beth knew where i was going. We usually dont keep secrets like this from each other. What if I got kidnapped or something? Beth was reliable with ths kind of stuff.

Gripping my flashlight, i made my way to the edge of the woods. there was a half moon out, so i tried to stay in the shadows. I had my flashlight in case i came up one of the cougars that are loose. again.

As I walked, someone came up from behind me and cupped their hand over my mouth. Startled, i jerked my elbow back, punching the person in the ribs.

"Ouch! Eddie, its me!" I heard Jake whisper.

"You idiot! You scared me!" I snapped.

"Sorry." Jake apologized. I studied him. From what i could tell, he was wearing dark blue jeans, black converese, and a black hoodie. Like me, he also wore a black baseball cap. He also held a flashlight in his hand.

"So why am I here?" I asked. I really liked my sleep, and at the moment, he owed me BIG TIME for not letting my sleep.

Jake shrugged. I sighed.

"Okay, um... i don't know what to say." Jake said.

"Jake, you have GOT to be kidding me."

"Okay, okay! Sorry. first of all, sorry about earlier."

I grinned. "You mean when we found you surrouned by bags full of candy, chips, and chocolate?"

Jake's face reddened. "yeah...dont ask about that."

I chuckled. "I dont think i want to know."

"ANYWAY...I wanted to tell you something."

"Okay..."

"...I cant say it..."

I groaned again. "Jake, if you arent going to say anything, then I'm going home. I-"

Jake cut my words off because he had pressed his lips onto mine.

*Normal POV*

Eddie and Jake both blushed when they pulled away.

"Look, i didnt want you to think that what happened in the woods was just a passing thing. So I'm going to ask you this- do you want to be with me or not?" Jake asked, looking at Eddie directly into her eyes.

Eddie's eyes widened. "I...what...why...Jake?"

Jake sighed. "Never mind."

"No! I mean, I...ugh." Eddie was at loss for words.

"Maybe we should just forget about this whole thing-"

This time Eddie cut Jake off, by kissing him again.

Pulling away, she smiled. "Its a yes, okay? You just startled me for a bit."

Jake grinned. "Girl, you just made my night!" then he did something he never thought he would do:

Jake lifted Eddie from the ground, spun her, then kissed her once again.

Eddie's POV

When I got home, I fell asleep, grinning like an idiot.

Hey guys! I'm back! I still won't be updating very often, but I'll still update.

And I'm sick again. I got a really bad cold. I've been waking up with asthma attacks.

On the bright side, its already Fall Break for me.

But, on the bad side... i still wont update very often. Like I've said, I just started my freshman year in high school, and homework is a big deal. Plus, since I'm Hispanic, I was raised in Mexican Culture. In my culture, we dont have SWEET 16, we have a Quincenera, which is basicaly a SWEET 15. Its a really big deal in Hispanic families. (When girls turn 15, we have a Mass, and we have a reception, and we have a big party full of food and dancing. we do these things called "Fun Dances." you can look up some of them up on YouTube. Some of the dances are pretty good.) But anyway, I have THAT coming up for me, this April, and I have to practice MY dance. Yay.

So sorry. :(

But I'll update eventually.

Oh yeah, and one last thing: do you remember the summary in the beggining of the story? Forget about it. I'm changing the direction of the story. There will still be some complications between the Hatfords, the Malloys, the Bensons, and the OC's. But i decided that the summery reavealed something, so i had to change the plot.

I hope you guys will review on this! Either bad or good, they are all welcome, but please hold off on the insults and stuff. Okay, that's all. I seriously BEG you to review! (Seriously, you know how much we Fanfiction authors want to know how our story is so far.)
