CHAPTER 7: What the hell is going on?

*Caroline POV*

I made my way to the elementary's auditorium. I knew it was empty right now, so it gave me the chance to practice my performances.

When I got there, I made sure no one else was there, not even the janitor. Then I made sure the doors were closed, so that if someone did come in, I would know.

I climbed the stairs up to the stage where I stood at the center. There wasnt any spotlight, but i didnt mind. If someone did come in, they wouldnt be able to see me. (

I cleared my throat and sang "No Surprise" by Daughtry.

"Its no surprise I wont be here tomarrow.

I cant believe that I stayed 'till today.

yeah, you and I will be a tough act to follow.

But I know in time, we'll find this was no surprise."

(A/N: I don't own the song, even though I love it.)

I was just starting the first verse when I heard the door open. Scrambling onto my knees, I crawled to the side of the stage and hid behind the curtains.

"Strange. I thought I heard someone in here..." I heard a familiar voice say...a boy.

"Maybe they left." a girl's voice suggested.

"Maybe we should do this another time." another boy's voice... which I would reconize ANYWHERE.

It sounded like Wally.

I looked carefully from my hiding spot. I saw Peter, Wally, and my cousin Mary coming towards me.

What is going on?

I silently turned, climbed down the stairs, and crawled to the back of the room. I sat in a dark corner, behind a chair where i could see them, but they couldnt see me.

"Alright. So what did you want me to teach you?" Mary asked.

"I...dont really know..." Wally trailed off.

Peter facepalmed. "You mean you dont have a song picked yet?"

Wally shook his head. "I dont know what song to chose."

Mary looked thoughtful for a moment. Then she smiled. She grabbed her phone and started dialing. "I'll just call Caroline and ask for a song."

Uh-oh. I scrammbled to get to my phone. I cupped my hand over it so the light wouldnt show, then turned the volume off. Placing my phone into my pocket, I crawled from my hiding space and towards the back door.

Carefully, I opened it, and crawled out, then silently closed it. I took off running, just in case. Once I made it to around the building, I looked down at my phone. I was still ringing.

"Hello?" I answered.

"Hey, Caroline... uh, are you okay?" Mary's voice came through.

"Y-yeah...I was just running to catch my phone on time... what's up?"

"Just wondering...what song reminds you of Wally?"

"Uh... let me think... I would say "Daylight" by Maroon 5. Why?" I asked.

"Oh, nothing. Just wondering...wait, why that song?" she asked.

I smiled. "It reminds me of our last night in the woods together, when we got lost."

"Makes sense. Well, bye!" Mary said cheerfully.

"Wait, Mary, why are you-" I was cut off, because she had already hung up.

I frowned. What the heck are Peter, Wally, and Mary up to?

Wally POV

"Daylight? Are you sure?" I asked. I've heard it a few times, but I think it seems hard to dance.

Mary nodded. "Yeah. Dont worry. It isnt that hard."

I swallowed. Oh boy...

*Five minutes later*

I wiped my forehead. Dance was a pretty good workout.

"Do you get it now?" Peter asked, grinning. He was having fun with this.

"Y-yeah." I panted. It's been nearly an hour, but I managed to learn it.

"I must say, Wally: You are pretty good at this. Most people take a whole day to learn. Weeks even. You got it in under an hour." Mary said. She had her chesnut blonde hair in a ponytail. She looked a bit tired, but not as much as I probably did.

Peter grinned. "Now you just have to finish up the rest of the plan."

I sighed. We had to let Mary know about my plans on actually asking Caroline out, since she is the one teaching me this.

"I'll do that tomarrow. I got to rest." I said. "Did YOU learn anything, Peter?"

"What do you mean?" Peter asked.

"you've been watching me learn the dance... do you think you could do it?" I asked.

"Maybe." Peter shrugged.

"You should try Pete." I said, then looked at Mary who shrugged and said: "I dont mind."

Peter sighed and climbed onto the stage. "Alright Peter. Let's see if you're as good as your brother." Mary said.

I pressed play on the song that Mary had in her phone. Peter took Mary's hands and spun her, then began the basic step.

Honestly, the kid seemed like a natural.

When they finished, Peter grinned and dipped Mary down, then spun her back up.

Mary smiled. "Sorry to say this Wally, but Peter got it better."

I nodded. "No kidding."

Peter's cheeks turned pink. "I had nothing better to do..." he muttered, making me snicker.
"Sure thing bro."

Mary's POV

I giggled as Peter tossed his jacket at Wally's face.

They were both good dancers, except that Wally was a bit stiff, and Peter was a bit shy. They were really fast learners, which surprised me, considering how my cousins described them as "slow".

We left the auditorium and back to our neighborhood. The sky was already getting dark.

When we got to the swinging bridge, Wally gave me a quick hug and said "Thanks for the lesson Mary."

I shrugged. "No problem."

Peter told Wally that he would walk me home. Wally nodded and walked ahead to his home.

"Hey, thanks Mary. For helping my brother." Peter said.

"You're welcome. It was fun." I smiled.

Peter's cheeks suddenly turned pink. "Y-you know...you have a nice smile."

I felt my face grow pink as well. "Thank you..."

He grinned. "See you tomarrow." then left. I didnt even realize we were already on our driveway.

"Bye Peter."

I went inside. Ruth greeted me by tackling me as soon as she saw me. "Were you with Peter Hatford just now?" she asked.

I gently pushed my twin away. "Yes, I was."

"Really? Why?" she asked. She seemed excited.

"We were just walking around the school and talking..." I said. I knew I had to keep the truth from my twin, or the surprise might be ruined.

"And?"

"And, what?"

"You guys just talked?" Ruth asked. I nodded. "Yes. He's very nice... he told me I have a nice smile..." I felt my face grow pink again.

Ruth giggled. "That is so cute!"

I shrugged. "If you say so... where's Eddie, Beth, and Caroline?"

"Right here." Eddie walked up. She was grinning softly. "Hello Eddie. You seem to be in a good mood." I said.

She nodded. "Yep. It's a good day...hey, I'm going over to the store, do you want something?" she asked. I shrugged. "A sprite."

"Anything is good for me." Ruth said. Eddie nodded. "Alright. See you girlies later!" she said and left.

Beth came in as Eddie left. "Is it me, or does Eddie seem to be really happy lately?" she questioned. We all nodded and Caroline also came in and said "Yeah. You know, she HAS been happier."

Beth frowned. "I think she's hiding something."

Caroline shrugged. "We ALL are hiding something these days...right Mary?" she said looking at me.

I nearly choked. "Uh..Y-yeah... I guess...I'm going to go upstairs now.." I quickly left.

I grabbed my phone and texted Peter, who had already given me his number.

"Peter, bad news...I think Caroline is onto us!"

Beth's POV

"That was strange..." I muttered.

Caroline was looking up after Mary, while Ruth was looking at Caroline in wonder.

"So what did you guys do today?" I asked, taking a seat at the kitchen table.

"I went for a walk at the park." Ruth said.

"Me too, except not at the park." Caroline said.

"huh. What did you do at the park Ruth?" I asked. Ruth suddenly turned pink. "I... you know what? I think i still have homework to do... see you guys later!" then she left.

I raised my eyebrow. "Okay... Where did you go Caroline?"

Caroline looked away and said: "I think I hear my phone ringing... see ya Beth." then she left.

I just sat at the kitchen table by myself now, thinking:

"What the hell is going on with everybody?"

*tearfull*

I am so sorry. :(

I know its been while, but seriously, i have been so BUSY!

I got into the audition list at school for a dance group, so yeah...

Plus, I have to practice the dance for my Sweet 15...

PLUS, i got A LOT of homework.

But I'll update eventually.

But HEY! I updated...finally! :D
