CHAPTER 9: 2:00 am

Eddie's POV

"Hey, what time is it?" I asked. Jake checked his phone.

"1:50 am... we've been out here for a while."

"Darn it. We should go. After all, nothing good happens after 2:00 am." I said, smiling.

"You believe in that old superstition?" Jake asked, looking at me.

"Sort of. I havent made up my mind yet. But it's something that my older relatives have ALWAYS told me." I shrugged.

Jake sighed. "Well, you're right about one thing: we need to get home."

I nodded. "My parents should be back my 3 or so, but I should get home before my sisters do...if they are at home anyway."

"Well, Miss Malloy, let's get going." Jake teased.

"Whatever, Mr. Hatford." I replied.

We walked hand in hand to our neighborhood and we parted ways when we got to our houses.

When I entered the house, I checked my sisters rooms. Caroline and Beth were out, but the twins were still up in their rooms. Mary was asleep and Ruth was listening to music.

I headed over to my room and changed into my pajamas. In other words, just blue shorts and a red tank top. I was about to head into bed when my phone rang. Groaning in annoyance, I answered it.

"Hello?"

"Hey Eddie? It's Steve."

"Steve? What's up?"

"I know it's really late...but I have to talk to you."

"Okay...sure. Tomarrow?"

"Can it be NOW?"

"NOW? Why?"

"It's important."

"Alright, just make it quick okay?"

"Sure thing...meet me at the bridge." then he hung up.

Wait, what? I meant for him to talk to me on the PHONE not in PERSON!

I simply pulled on my jeans and my shoes and a random hoodie. I went through my window, just in case.

When I got to the bridge, Steve saw me and grinned. "Hi Eddie" he said, then pulled me into a hug...a REALLY long hug.

I pulled away. "What is so important after 2:00 am?" I asked.

"Well, you see...I like you. I cant get you out of my head, and I needed to tell you before I went crazy."

Oh. No.

This cant be happening.

"L-look, Steve, you're a great guy and all...but-"

"But what?"

"I-I...I like someone else."

You could see the disappointment on his face from a mile away.

"I see...are you dating him though?"

"No." I lied. I promised Jake that I wouldnt tell.

"Good. I still have a chance. Eddie Malloy, believe me when I say that I wont give up on you."

"Whoa, whoa...what?" I asked, shocked.

"That's right. It may take a while, but I wont give up on your heart. I promise." he smiled.

"B-but...you...I..." I was seriously was speechless.

He leaned over, kissed my cheek, and smiled. "Good night Eddie." Then he left.

Steve Benson was after my HEART?

WTF?

WHAT?

THIS CANT BE HAPPENING!

What am I going to do NOW?

If Jake finds out...things will NOT end well.

Beth POV

When I was growing up, my family always told me:

Nothing good happens after 2:00 am. After 2:00 am...just go to bed. Avoid trouble.

Boy, I should have listened to them.

"We should head home now, since it's pretty late." Josh said. I nodded. After all, it WAS about to be 2:00.

Josh and I left the diner hand in hand and we walked back to our street. I checked my watch. 2:15. Yeah...I'm pretty superstitious.

As we walked, we took our time. I didnt really mind, since I was walking with Josh after all. I felt safe.

Until I saw her.

Remember that chick who "accidently" dumped her snacks on us?

Belinda.

Well guess who saw us walking down the street at 2:00 am holding hands.

Yep. HER.

I met her gaze and she smirked. She spun around and kept walking.

Our secret was out

you guys, you dont know how awful I feel, for not updating! I feel terrible!

Also, I'm thinking of making a Oneshots2, as a sequal to Oneshots1. I'm gonna have a series of Oneshots, I guess.

Also, I'm working on another story. Hint: it has SUPERPOWERS and the HATFORDS AND MALLOYS in it!
