This is a fanfiction the story line and characters are not mine. I do write spoilers as conversations between my character and my friend in this fiction. updates may be varied as it depends on what's going on in my life on when I'm able to write. Hope you like it!
My p.o.v.
I place my bag in the safe as I hear Nikki plop into her bed. "Sooo comfy…."
I roll my eyes at her antics but do the same once the lock on the safe clicked. We had decided a more upscale hotel would be safe until we knew the areas better and could put all this money somewhere safe.
"Damn it is comfy. So hungry yet?" I ask, laying on my belly looking out the patio doors to the night sky.
The stars were blotted out due to all the city lights which saddened me a bit.
"I'm starving. What is there around?" She says into the bed lying face first not bothering to lift her head.
I groan as I crawl up the bed to the nightstand where a book of nearby things were.
Propping myself up with one arm I flip the pages to the food section. "Let's see. There is ramen, bbq, sushi, pizza, Kaitenzushi, Kare-ya, Gyudon-ya, Okonomiyaki-ya, Shokudo and many other such things I'm sure I'm butchering the names of." I say stumbling over many of the words or making the sounds trying to pronounce them.
"I haven't a clue what most of that is…" Nikki states looking over at me blankly.
I close the book and toss it back on the table. "How bout this I know what you like so I'll get food and you take a nap or shower or something. "
She gave me a shrug and a thumbs up. "Sounds good, why did we have to get a high up room?"
I stand slipping my shoes back on and grabbing my wallet as I reply. "Cause it's harder to be robbed or have people scaling the building even here unless they had wings or were sticky and even then twenty stories will take awhile. "
She groans face planting again mumbling about how she could feel how up she was.
"Look I'll get some sweets to make it easier for you. Just a night then we'll find a house or something. " I say as I head to the door grabbing the key card.
She flips me off muttering something I couldn't hear to which I just roll my eyes at her.
I leave and as I'm passing the gift shop I see some pjs and other clothes and remember we need clothes to wear.
I walk over to the desk and wait patiently for the lady to finish a call.
"I'm sorry about that, how may I help you?" She says smiling at me.
Though her eyes had narrowed at me probably from my wrinkled clothes and messy hair. I probably looked like some beggar or homeless person.
"Hi, I was just wondering where the closest ramen-ya shop is and where I might find a clothing store. My friend and I's luggage got lost in the move here."
Her body language told me she wasn't sure she bought my story but the manager, the one who I surprised by paying cash, quickly came over smiling warmly.
"The closet shop is right around the corner to the left and there is a market to the right but it will be closing soon, if you hurry you may make it in time."
I smile and bow my head. "Thank you."
The lady's eyes were wide and I assumed because it was close to two hundred to stay here in American dollars. I wave and take my leave walking quickly to the right.
I could see some stalls ahead and saw a few were still open but others were packing up.
I get to the closet one and see shirts and leggings that Nikki would wear. Getting closer I inspect the size to see if they'd fit, luckily they should.
The old lady looked skeptically at me the whole time her eyes never leaving me.
"You have money for that?" She questioned pointing to the clothes draped over my arm.
I blink, I really hadn't thought I looked that bad this morning when getting dressed. For crying out loud it was just a hoodie and some Jean's!
"Yes Ma'am I do. My friend and I just moved here and our luggage was lost in the move." I lie easily, very few who were close to me could call bull on my lies.
"So sorry for your loss. Maybe airport will find them?"
I grab another pair of pants and a galaxy shirt with a cat on it. "Maybe, if I may ask how is the area around here? I'm looking for a place with some nature and safe neighborhood. "
She smiles and starts chatting about how this area is under Jean and is very safe and goes on about different districts and who protects them.
I nod showing I was listening as I continued to find a couple outfits and jackets for us. I'd leave finding underwear for Nikki to get herself as it would be weird for me to get it.
Another older lady in the next stall heard the conversation and starts adding things the first one missed and about current events.
"Schools about to start and the famous UA and just the other day this poor boy was held hostage by this slime villain…"
My head snaps to her at that. That right there told me we were at the very beginning of the series and nothing major had happened yet. Nothing would for a year, least in the Manga timeline.
After almost an hour of them chatting a voice from the entrance interrupted.
"I'm sorry ladies but you'll have to move your conversation elsewhere. The market needs to be emptied in five minutes. "
I turn to see Jean himself with an apologetic smile.
"Our apologies!" We all say at once.
I pay for my things and help them put away their things seems they did give me a lot of info and were so nice.
Jean started helping us as well, when the first lady asks. "How old are you? You single?"
I shake my head, my heart dropping and my eyes start to burn. "I'm not sure, this move was very sudden and not really planned. I haven't talked to him yet." My voice cracks slightly at the end.
I had done my best till that point to not think about home, it confused me and terrified that I would never see my loved ones again. The only thing, or person, that kept me from breaking the entire day has been Nikki.
I hear a thud and see Jean had dropped the box he had been carrying. "Why? Why leave everything behind?" the second lady questions.
I put the last boxes in their cars, I pick up the bag of clothes I had bought and turn and bow to them. "Thank you for the past hour. It has been the highlight of my day. Thanks for the clothes and I hope to see you again." I turn avoiding the question.
Why was right. Why the fuck were we ripped from our home? Why us? Why when I finally had my shit together? Why when Nikki just bought her own house? Why?
I pull out the necklace I wore under my hoodie that held a sapphire and diamond ring with small rubies that looked like flowers around the sapphire with the diamond in the middle. My chest hurt as if there was a heavy weight. I was on my way to tell Nikki I was going to get married next year.
I put the ring back in my shirt wiping my eyes with my sleeve as I headed towards the ramen shop.
I shove the feelings down for now, I would deal with them later when I was alone.
Sending a text to Nikki letting her know I was alright and was just grabbing a few essentials so she wouldn't worry about how long I've been gone.
Once I had obtained the ramen I headed back to the Hotel stopping in the gift shop and getting some deodorants, tooth brushes, toothpaste and hair brushes along with some hair ties.
When I finally make it back to the room I see Nikki laying in the exact same spot lightly snoring till she senses me and flails up and over the side of the bed like she was electrocuted or something. I couldn't help the snort as the door fell shut.
"Sup, got clean clothes and food. But I'm guessing you didn't get my text?" I say setting everything on the table near the patio.
At the mention of food she jets up and is by my side in an instant. "Dango?"
I roll my eyes and pull out the box of dango and a box of mochi just for her. She grins and shoves on into her mouth as she peaks into a bag out of curiosity. Knowing her she wouldn't fully open the bag until she had permission because of the fact she didn't buy it.
"That bag is a mix of the clothes I got for us for now, figured we could get by with this for now till we figure out how to get jobs or such to pay for things." I say pulling out the rest of the food, I had gotten her a simple bowl of pork ramen with a burger patty on the side.
I had ordered a miso ramen with an order of short ribs, also because I was cheap but nice. I had gotten us some flavored water for Nikki and tea for me from a vending machine outside the shop.
"Also got some hygiene things." I slide her a teal hair brush with green designs on it along with a deodorant and half the pack of the hair ties.
She blinks staring at me. "I...did not think this far ahead…."
Looking down at my hands while pulling things out, setting them into two piles hers and mine. "I'm trying not to think about home so I've been thinking or steps and plans for here. I have a feeling we won't be going home…"
