My p.o.v
I figured I'd make some homemade pizza tonight.
While I worked the dough my thoughts trailed to the offer from Shigaraki. I didn't think it would be a good option as I wouldn't attack the kids ever. And now I was friends with some of the heros and didn't really want to throw that away.
I definitely wanted to befriend Hawks as I knew he had a rough past and I wanted to be someone he could actually depend on and count on.
Blinking I wipe my hands on my towel and grab my phone calling the winged hero.
"Sarah? Everything alright kid?" He answers seems he had given me his number for work but I never called it before.
"Yup. Just wanted to know if you're free tonight?" I reply beginning to chop the veggies for a pizza.
"I knew you had a crush on me! Sorry little song bird but I don't think I'm the right man for you." He says making me roll my eyes.
"Hawks I'm older than you. Just because I'm short doesn't mean shit. No I just am making dinner for everyone here and thought I'd extend the invite but if you're gonna be an ass…"
He cuts me off. "Whoah ok ok I'm sorry! Free food? Definitely I'll be there in five."
I chuckle as the phone goes dead and get the inkling i would need more food so I tripled the already tripled recipe.
So now I had enough for at least thirty pizza's.
I slid the first batch in the oven as I hear a tap on the glass.
Looking around the corner I see Hawks smirking back at me a hand in his pocket.
"Come on in, it's unlocked." I call going back into the kitchen to begin making dessert.
I jump feeling a head on my shoulder, looking out of the corner of my eye I see Hawks just staring at the cookie and brownie doughs.
"That's quite a bit of food dor just us two." He comments.
"Umm what are you doing? And I never said just us two. Others are here. Gummy and Nikki." I say trying to control my breathing and not show how he was making my heart go haywire.
I could not let this man know he affected me or he'd use it to his advantage everytime he could.
"Ah so a double date. So kid, am I making you nervous? I can hear your heart racing." He remarks his eyes watching me now.
Fuck. I forgot how Hawks had intense hearing though that and the heat would be how he sensed where people where. This damn bird man would be a challenge, though I also would enjoy giving him just as much shit.
"Oh you know it, I believe I did call you my dream man. Now off." I reply shrugging making him retreat or bite his tongue.
I had gotten a message from AllMight saying him and Nezu would be coming by to talk about training and Mic also let me know he was bringing over the paperwork for me to officially be the owner.
"Well I'm glad I made more food. Looks like we'll have more company. " I say grinning at Hawks confused look.
I pull out some of the pizzas and put the next batches in replying to both letting them know the door was unlocked and to just come in.
"Make yourself comfy." I wave to Hawks as I walk to the top of the basement stairs.
"Yo Nikki we're having company for dinner!"
I hear her muttering but can't make out what she said so I shrug it off and walk to the stairs to my room pausing seeing Hawks standing outside watching the crows check out their new home.
"Now don't you try eating my crow babies mister or we'll have issues." I tease making him roll his eyes at me as he plopped down into a chair messing with the TV.
Chuckling at him I head upstairs to wake Gummy and let him know we had company.
I slowly open the door peeking in to make sure if he was up he would have time to cover himself.
Seeing him still sleeping I walk over and quietly say. "Gummy, dinner will be ready soon."
He groans tossing an arm over his face.
I place a hand on his stomach the only thing I could reach and give him a small shake. "Come on sleepy. We're having some company over soon. "
He peeks under his arm looking at me curiously. "Who?"
Goddamn sleepy voice made me want to just curl up.
"Well Hawks is downstairs, AllMight and Nezu will be here in about fifteen, Mic and Eraser in about twenty. Then didn't you say Tamaki was coming tonight to play with the goats?" I ask leaning on him seems he was comfy.
Malik crawls over licking my cheek.
"Why are they coming?" He questions rubbing his face obviously still tired.
It made me feel bad for waking him. "Well as you know I need to control my quirk so I asked AllMight if Nezu could help experiment the limits. Mic is bringing paperwork for the café and Hawks seems like a lonely person so I invited him over."
Gummy frowns putting an arm behind his head watching me. "Ya know you're pretty observant. I thought so too but he would always shrug it off asking how could he be when he's always surrounded by fans."
I shrug standing grabbing Malik. "Because I know how it feels to be surrounded by people and feel like I was in more alone than ever. I know the look. Now why don't you wake up and come down after a nice shower." I say smiling and rubbing noses with Malik as I walk away.
Making my way downstairs i see Hawks looking bored just flipping through the channels. Grinning I walk over and plop the pup on his stomach, being gentle to not hurt either of them, putting my hands on my hips.
"Hawks meet Malik, Malik this is Hawks keep him company for me."
Hawks just blinks up at me his wings stretched out over the edge of the couch draping over the back and on the floor.
"Kid…"
I point at him sternly my motherly voice coming out. "Don't you even birdman. Now play nice and make some friends. Malik here is perfect company."
He stares at me blinking like a kid who's confused and doesn't know how to react.
"Ohhh the mother voice. You better listen to her birdy." Nikki says leaning against the door frame of the basement crossing her arms. "She only uses that on occasion. "
I round on her pointing at her. "I do not have a mother voice."
She just smirks at me raising her eye brows. "Sure ya don't. That's why we call you the mama bear and the mom friend."
Throwing my hands up in exaggeration and going into the kitchen to check on pizzas.
I make a veggie tray with some cheese and meats bringing it out and setting it on the living room table seeing Hawks using a feather teasing Malik by tickling his nose before retreating from his chompers.
"You get bit from teasing him you can't be mad." I warn as I walk back to the kitchen seeing him roll his eyes at me.
Nikki had plopped down across from Hawks watching TV and the two play.
Hearing the front door open I peak around the corner seeing AllMight and Nezu.
"Hey come on in, snacks are on the table I'm making dinner now." I welcome them before rushing to the oven to pull out the pizzas.
"Oh! I wasn't aware we were going to be eating or I'd have brought something. " Nezu says clasping his hands in front of him.
I wave him off. "Oh no, please think nothing of it. I just thought it'd be nice to have everyone over for dinner. The only one who really knew was Hawks."
He returns my smile as AllMight puffs up grinning and posing. "I am here! That is a wonderful idea!"
I blink at him holding the pizza i was about to put in the oven.
"Uhh everyone here knows about your true form...well except Hawks and I didn't tell him who was coming…..wait I told Gummy but he also knows already." I say sliding the pizza in and closing the oven door. "I also trust everyone here and want everyone aware of the situation. Nikki and I talked it over."
AllMight deflates going back to small form while Nezu tilts his head.
"Are you two sure about this? It is shocking to hear your origins...wait miss Nikki knows?!" AllMight questions eyes wide mouth open.
I nod cutting some of the pizzas. "Yup, her and I come from the same place. We're childhood friends actually she might know more than me as she tends to research ages and people when they catch her interest. I'm the same way so we have mixed knowledge of here."
"I'm sorry but I am very confused. You speak as if you are not from this world." Nezu says watching me.
"I apologize, we'll explain more once everyone is here. We only want those who will be here tonight to know. It was coincidence tonight but we're going to take advantage of having everyone." I reply giving an apologetic smile tilting my head.
"Alright then. I guess I'll have to be patient for that explanation. I hear you want help with your quirk?" He questions.
I nod. "Yes, I need to learn how to control it or at least to not send people flying again. We think its Adaptation."
He rubs his chin in thought. "Please explain further."
I tell him about all the things I've noticed, the diamond skin, the scales with heat, how if I did get injured I healed within seconds and how when I strained my senses would sharpen along with the speed and strength.
"May I see an example?" He questions while AllMight just watches us talk with an intrigued expression.
I shrug and open the oven pulling out the pizza without a glove, it burned for a second before the black scales took over.
His eyes shined which unnerved me a bit.
"That is a very powerful quirk and quite useful." He remarks leaning closer inspecting my hand.
"There is a draw back I've noticed, the longer I use it the more tired I get." I add thinking I really needed to get back to decoding those notes.
"Hey, Sarah do we have enough for two more?" Gummy asks coming into the kitchen his phone in his hand. "My folks did a surprise visit at the company and anytime their in town we have dinner if not I'll take them out no problem. "
I wave him off my hand going back to normal. "Of course they're welcome here. We have plenty."
He grins putting the phone back up to his ear. "Thanks darlin you're the best!"
I froze not even breathing. "Darlin?"
He had already walked back out eating me very flustered and confused. I usually hated nicknames but goddamn this man would be the death of me.
He was just so wholesome and like a miniature sun that made me feel all warm and fuzzy.
"Uh miss Sarah you may want to breathe." AllMight says hands outreached.
Snapping out of it I feel my face heat up. "Sorry…"
Thankfully I'm saved by Mic and Aizawa walking in.
"Yo! Oh! That smells awesome! Hey Principle and AllMight! No one told me this was a party! " Mic practically yells though it sounded normal to me.
"Mic lower your voice we're indoors. Sorry I didn't know or we'd have brought something. I'm Shoto Aizawa, pleasure to finally meet you. Mic talks about you often."
I shake his hand. "Sarah, please just make yourselves comfortable dinner is almost ready. Friends are always welcome here no invite needed."
He blinks glancing between Mic and I.
I hold up my hands knowing that look. "Hey I'm not nearly that loud or friendly most of the time. Don't you be comparing us. This is first impressions so I'm a bit more extra." I defend myself smelling a pizza.
I quickly turn to the oven and pull out the last pizzas.
"Well at least it looks decent. Not charred." He comments earning a whine from Mic and laughs from the rest of us.
"So you and FatGum are a thing?" AllMight questions watching me as the others wander off and I hear a faint.
"Holy shit….he's hotter in person." From Nikki though I'm pretty sure only I heard her seems the nerves had heightened my senses.
"No. No, I mean he's a great guy it's just...until last week I was engaged. So it'll be a long time before I'm ready for a relationship of any kind if ever." I practically whisper as I put the pizzas on a serving tray and setting the oven on warm.
I hear Gummy's footsteps heading towards the door but light ones upstairs in my room.
Frowning I wipe my hands and head towards my room with a quick. "Excuse me a minute. "
No one went in my room besides Gummy, not even Nikki unless I was in there.
Making my way up quietly I peek in the door seeing Hawks going through my desk.
"Who is this chick? How does she know so many hero's? " I hear him muttering.
I watch for a second as he finds my necklace and holds it up.
"Please be careful with that. Its one of the few things I have that means something to me." I call walking in and shutting the door to not be over heard.
We had found all the rooms were sound proof when the door was shut but if open we could hear clearly in the other rooms.
Hawks wings fluff up as he turns facing me seeming to be thinking of an excuse.
"Kid! I was just.."
Walking over my eyes on the necklace and I gently take it back my heart feeling heavy.
"No I get it. If you had been a bit more patient I'd have explained it to you along with the others." I say running my thumb over the orca.
"I know so many because I'm not from here, where I'm from this was all fiction. The people who brought us died to bring us to help." I explain looking up at him. "I know a lot but I honestly want to be a friend to you, I know you haven't had anyone have your back and I want to. In fact you can't get rid of me now. But I will keep your secrets safe."
He looks at me with fear and anger. Smiling I place a hand on his arm looking him in the eyes.
"I'm going to go into details later, I know this is a lot. Take a minute to think, I'll answer as much as I can."
I look to the necklace gently placing it back into his hand trusting him with my now most valuable possession.
Beginning to walk away I stop turning my head when he speaks.
"You better be fucking with me kid."
Thinking of all I've lost but all there was to gain here I reply my voice cracking. "Keigo I wish I was. I lost my home for this."
Before he could respond I was out the door and putting on a fake smile as I see everyone chatting idly.
Nikki was chatting with Tamaki while Gummy stood aside talking to someone just out of my view, the three teachers and Nezu seemed to be talking about Nikki and I.
"Welcome everyone and thank you all for joining us for dinner if you want to go ahead and take a seat at the table I'll start bringing out the food!" I call gaining everyone's attention.
They all smile and start heading to the dining room save Nikki who walks to the kitchen with me whispering. "You good?"
"No, I'm nervous as all hell. I think I just pissed off Hawks. Or scared him. And he just had to find the necklace making memories come up." I whisper back as I filled a pitcher of tea and one with water.
"He's a hard one to read. You sure you want to trust him with this?" She questions grabbing one of the trays of pizza.
I place the water and tea on a tray along with hot tea and some sodas nodding. "He is but I just have a gut feeling he's good."
"Well you know him better." She says before walking out with the pizza.
Taking a breath I follow with the drinks.
