Sitting himself down against the seat the medical waiting room Jack blew out a long breath as it seems they all had been waiting for a lifetime for any news on Sydney, every time someone walk out of the exam room doors all four rangers would sit up hoping that someone would tell them something, anything on their friend. Tilting his head up Jack turned his eyes up to the celling Jack folded his arms over his chest as he shifted himself in the seat for what felt like the tenth time for the red ranger as he started to count the rivets in the roof panels. Slumping his shoulders as the nurse just walked away Jack looked around at each one of his teammates.
Bridge was seated cross legged, poking his tongue against the inside of his cheek, his gaze down at the floor as he was trying to block out everyone's thoughts that almost overwhelmed him. With one hand holding his chin up his other hand drummed his fingers against the side of his boot, the soft tapping sound of fingers on rubber softly played though the sterile room, grey walls with florescent lighting that he knew that Sydney would no doubt hate if she was awake. Apart from the colour on their uniforms the room was grey in atmosphere and in thought, even when he did take his glove off to read the auras they were dark colours.
Leaning against the wall, Z found herself playing with her 'Z' necklace, sliding the letting against the chain, curling her fingers around the gold item as she placed it back against her chest. Z lifted her head back up and turned it so she was looking towards the door that lead to her friend, seeing her so still on the ground at the docks at scared the yellow ranger, even with their powers and their training they we're still vulnerable, today have been proof of that. Injuries happened to them, that was just a part of the job, but given that Syd hadn't woken up yet and the hush of the nurses Z knew that it was serious. "What is taking them so long?" Whispering softly Z wasn't really expecting an answer from anyone, it was really just a question she was asking herself to keep from going insane from waiting.
Looking out of one of the large windows that let natural light into the room the blue ranger stood tall, his hands behind his back, clasped around his wrist Sky looked down at the plants that stood next to the entrance pathway, watching as the moved slightly in the gentle breeze that blew though New Tech City on this afternoon. Although his eyes were focused on the plants his mind was far away, lost in the reaction that replayed in his mind over and over again. The bright green light that came from the crystal hitting Sydney clear in the chest, sending back across the docks until she landed harshly onto the ground. Apart from the memory of the day his father died, this was becoming his most painful one, watching someone you cared about being thrown back and remaining still. The voice of Emperor Grumm coming though the mouth of Jaxalor rang thought his mind keeping Sky in a state of guilt as it was his fault that this had happened. He had let himself slip; thinking about Syd had caused her to get hurt. What kind of Power Ranger let that happen?
Opening the door to the exam room and taking his glasses off his face, the feline doctor sighed as he used his tie to clean the lenses before tucking his glasses into the pocket of his white lab coat as he stepped forward and approached the rangers. Clearing his throat Dr Felix caught the attention of all the rangers, worry in all of their eyes as they waited for him to speak. "Cadet Drew is in a stable condition, apart from the cut on her forehead and a few bumps and bruises medically she is sound, and her scans show no internal damage" Watching as the rangers all sat up at the news of their friend, Dr Felix sighed as he pondered how to tell them what else he had found after reviewing the footage and talking with Dr Manx. Looking to see the blue ranger turnaround from his spot at the window to face him the cat like doctor looked back towards the doors that lead to the pink ranger before turning back to the rest of the rangers Dr Felix continued, knowing his words would not only hurt but confuse the occupants in the waiting room. "Although Cadet Drew is in a stable condition tests have found that the crystal that was used on her, well to put it in layman's terms. The crystal admits a powerful energy beam when used with C.D.D, a Crystal deferrer device, puts its victim into a state of sleep. Sometimes this is only a temporary start for the victim only lasting a few days, other times it can be weeks or months before waking up" Closing his eyes and pinching the bridge of his nose Dr Felix swallowed rather thickly as he let the words come slightly harder than before. "Sometimes it can be permanent" With a sour taste now left in his mouth the large cat creature sighed as he now had the job of telling Commander Cruger that one of his Power Rangers could be asleep forever. This was not something he was looking forward to telling the large dog.
Stepping up to take the questions that the rangers would surely have Kat smiled sadly as she glanced back at the other doctor as the doors slid shut behind him. She knew that the others would want to see Syd and no doubt want to know more about the crystal and for what she knew she would tell them when she would be able get a word in. Watching as all the occupants in the room stepped towards her, questions coming at her left right and center.
"What does he mean permanent? That doesn't include Syd dose it?" Bridge's words seemed to come out a mile a minute as they so often did when he had questions or indeed answers.
"Come on Kat, you mean to tell us that Syd has been put in a sleep by that crystal?" Trying to make heads or tails of the fact that Syd had been put to sleep with a crystal and a device, Jack blinked a few times. His dreads shaking a little as he lent his head forward in disbelief and blinking a few times as he looked at Dr Manx as if it was some kind of joke.
"You're going to try and find a way to wake her aren't you? We can't just leave her and hope that she wake up sooner rather than not at all" Looking towards the doors that separated her from her roommate, Z let her mouth fall open slightly as it really started to sink in that there was a real chance that Syd may be like this for the rest of her life. The bubbly, perky and always full of life Sydney Drew in a state of permanent slumber.
The only one that didn't ask a question was Sky, he remained silent and let the others bombard Kat, right now he couldn't think of anything to ask her, his mind was going a mile a minute but Sky couldn't seem to make words as he was just trying to process it all. Having heard just about all he could take for that moment the blue ranger stepped between Bridge and Z, his shoulder lightly knocking against the yellow rangers as he walked through them and around Kat. Grateful that the doors slid open and allowed him the safe passage to exit without the other rangers seeing the anger and pain on his face.
Watching Sky leave, Z looked up at Jack and Bridge in a look of confusion as to why their blue team mate had left in such a manner, he had hardly said anything since they had joined him in the waiting room in the infirmary of the S.P.D Delta Base. Looking back at Kat the rangers wanted their questions answered and they wanted to see Syd. "Come with me"
Leading the rangers into the small room that held the sleeping pink ranger Kat stood at the end of the bed, picking the notes chart and holding it against her chest the doctor looked at the ranger laying in the bed, encased in white blankets. On Syd's finger was an oxygen monitor, inserted into the back of her right hand was a cannula I.V keeping the woman hydrated. If you took away those items it really did look like Syd was just sleeping peacefully like she would at night, she didn't look to be in pain, if fact she looked rather calm. "Like Dr Felix said, medically she is sound; she's had worse bumps and abrasions before and expect those to heal rather quickly given that she is resting. It really is unknown when Syd is going to wake up but we are going to do everything we can to help aid her with the process" Kat didn't wait to mention the chance of Syd not waking up at all as she had feeling that it was already playing on the minds of the rangers.
Gathering around Syd, Z took a seat at the head of the bed and looked down at her friend reaching her hand out and moving some of the blonde curls away from her face and against the pillow. "She really looks like she's in a normal sleep" Muttering softly Z watched as Jack and Bridge nodded, Bridge taking a hold of Syd's left and brushed his thumb against the back of her hand, watching her as if it would somehow awaken her.
"It's called a Slumbhyx crystal, mainly found in the aphalax nebular. Under the regulations of S.P.D all crystals where meant to be destroyed is a safe manor years ago, ether someone is illegally mining them or somehow one or more of the crystals somehow wasn't destroyed" Taking the notes that she held in her hand Kat walked over to the little desk in the corner of the room and placed the little folder down and let her eyes skim over the notes that the nurses and Dr Felix had entered. "It really depends on the individual on how long it takes for them to wake up and how their body reacts to the crystals power. Some people do wake up within a few days, we've taken some blood and we're going to try and find something that will wake her up"
Hitting the blue punching bag harshly Sky grunted as with each hit he put more energy behind it, the bag swinging with force, the chain that held it up squeaked with every hit it took. His hands felling numb like the rest of his body as he put his weight behind each punch Sky was trying to hit the anger out of his body, it wasn't working. Finally stopping his hits Sky panted as he stripped his hands of his blue boxing gloves and lent over slightly at he tried to catch his breath, anger still writhing within his body. Sky looked up as the doors to the shared room opened; he half expected to see Bridge or even Jack asking why he wasn't down at Syd's side. Looking up he was surprised to see his commander standing on the other side off the door looking at his ranger, standing stiffly the large blue dog watched as Sky stood himself up straight and saluted with the highest respect as he always did.
"You know that punching that bag isn't going to change what happened today Cadet" Stepping into the ranger quarters Comander Cruger glanced down at the photo that was on Sky's bedside table, a large hand reached the silver frame that held one of Sky's most treasured items; the photo of him and his father. "You father was a great man and a great ranger, but he was those things before he kept his duty to all the things that mattered" Putting the photo back down the commander turned back to the cadet who was watching and trying figure out what just what the words had truly been hinting at.
"Sir, it was my fault that Syd got hurt, if I had been paying more attention I would have seen the metal move" Looking away from his commander, Sky forced himself to keep his face stern as he didn't want let his emotions show like this in front of Doggie Cruger, last time he let his emotions get the best of him, Mirloc escaped.
"Sky, we both know that Sydney was going to investigate that pile no matter what, she was closest to the pile and she does her job as a Power Ranger with precision like you all do. You may all be Power Rangers but you also have to remember that you are human as well. You know more than anyone that in this job is hazardous, today Sydney fell victim to one of those hazards" Placing his hand against Sky's shoulder the large dog nodded sharply as he left the room, allowing the door to slide shut after him.
Hearing the sound of Broodwing entering Grumm's ship, Morgana hurried into the main control room, flinging the doors open Morgana took the power in the room as she stood behind a bone made railing and glared down at the creature that her master constantly chose over her; this angered Morgana. "Did you manage to actually manage to do the task given to you or did yo-"
"MORGANA! ENOUGH" Grumm entered the room and immediately took over the control of the room as he stormed in, the mood of the room changed in a heartbeat. If it wasn't a dark energy before, it was pure evil now.
"My Lord I assure you that I did the task at hand and did it well. Jaxalor thought he was just doing the simple task of being the middle man, he had no idea that he was the target, that the C.D.D had a second crystal within it connecting him to you. As soon as he touched it he was in you power" Acting like a 'faithful servant' Broodwing bowed his head and swept his cape back his eyes glowing red as he looked towards Morgana with distaste.
"Broodwing, you have served me well, you have played a role in the fall of Power Rangers and the fall of S.P.D" Walking down to the middle of the room, Gruum seemed to show approval to Broodwing, this was off for the Toobian Emperor as he seemed almost kind to the mastermind criminal but this was all an act for a moment. As he approached Broodwing, Gruums energy changed as he stood over criminal. "If I find in any way that this has gone wrong YOU WILL BE PUNISHED" His voice growled as his eyes glowed darkly and his growl turned into a laugh as he injected fear into his servant.
Smirking as she watched from her place behind the rail Morgana started to think about what she would do to earth one the Power Rangers were gone, the fun she would have causing destruction to the planet. Returning back to her room, Morgana picked up her beloved doll, Cindy Sunshine, spinning around with it before taking a seat on her bed. "Oh the fun we are going to have once those pesky rangers are gone"
Having taken the words from his commanding officer in, Sky made his way down to the infirmary, ignoring the looks he got from his team mates as he passed by the common room Sky already knew that Syd was the topic of conversation and no doubt that he would be thrown in from time to time because he was the one that was paired with her, he was the one who was who was meant to have her back and he had failed at the simplest of tasks.
"Sky shouldn't be beating himself up like this, it could have been any one of us that Jaxalor got with the Slumbhyx crystal, it's because it's Syd that got hurt that he's acting like this" Watching as the blue ranger walked past the common room, Bridge climbed down from his head stand as he had been thinking about how Gruums voice had come for Jaxalors mouth like it had only picked up the end of something. Sitting down next to Jack, Bridge scratched his chin as he started to wonder about it again.
"What do you mean 'because it's Syd'" Quoting some of the words back Jack look a little confused as he put his drink bottle down and looked between the green and yellow rangers with a puzzled look on his face.
"Sure Sky would have worried if it had been any of us, but he opted to ride back to base with her instead of coming back with us. Jack you would to be blind not to know about his feelings for her, 'Mr S.P.D Handbook' has feelings for Syd, as much as he tries to hide it he dose slip up from time to time. A sideways glace during training when she's not looking, watching her while she paints" Z knew Jack could be oblivious at times but ever the commander could see that the Blue Ranger and Fallen for the Pink Ranger.
Seeing Jack's mouth open like a goldfish a few times before he tilted his to the side as he took Z's words into his mind, thinking back he had seen a few tiny moments between them but had passed it off as Sky was by the book and one of the rules mentions about cadets having relationships within S.P.D and how it was not allowed.
Standing in front of the doors that lead to Syd's infirmary room Sky pondered if he should enter the room or not. Replaying the words of Commander Cruger in his mind Sky drew in a deep breath before he stepped forward, setting off the sensor for the doors as he moved Sky laid eyes of the pink ranger for the first time since he had been told that he would have to wait in the waiting room earlier in the day. Seeing Syd wrapped in white blankets, a small gauze covering the cut on her forehead, Sky sighed as he stepped closer to the bed he could see that under her arm and resting against her chest was her beloved stuffed elephant Peanuts, Z had obviously brought the stuffed animal down from their room for Syd to have with her.
"For all medical purposes she really is just sleeping, apart from the state of sleep there is nothing physically wrong with her. It's now a waiting game, but you should know that we are doing everything we can to try and help her wake up" Speaking from the desk in the corner of the room Sky jumped as Dr Felix spoke, turning around to face the doctor the ranger let his shoulders fall as he had gone into defence mode at the sound of another voice in the room. Taking his glasses off his face and letting them hand from his fingertips the doctor closed the file of notes and stood from his chair and approached the man in blue and grey. "Sit with her, talk to her, you never know she might be able to hear you" Placing his hand on Sky's shoulder for a moment Doctor Felix then left the room.
Taking a seat next to Syd's bed, Sky looked down at the blonde woman and shook his head as he slid his hand under the hand that was resting against Peanut and linked his fingers around hers, his eyes looking down at her finger and how he wished they would curl around him. Closing his eyes for a moment Sky let his head hang low as it hurt to see her like this, she should be awake and being the light in the room. The heart of the team. She should know about her place in his heart. Lifting her hand up with his Sky encased Syd's smaller hand in both of his, resting his head against them as he soft spoke. "I'm so sorry, Syd"
