Since it was requested, here ya go.
"Talking"
'Thinking' won't use much
GI characters talking mentally
'Mei communicating with GI characters'
Three weeks have passed since getting the letter.
It was Springtime and school has finally begun!
Normally I'd groan at the thought of school but hero school is a totally different thing.
Especially when you know of all the exciting events that will occur during school. Albeit, some are dangerous and possibly life-threatening but it's nothing new compared to what I had to deal with in-person in Teyvat.
I highly doubt I'll be fighting a giant plant monster anytime soon. Other than when I'm collecting mats.
With my new U.A uniform that a cosplayer would die for and my bag on my back, I headed off to school with a skip in my step.
As I walked to U.A, I went over my plan for the quirk apprehension test. I didn't want to solely use four heroes meaning I'll have to switch a lot, and with so many to choose from I don't want to accidentally forget someone. I tend to not remember well when there is so much to keep track of. So I devised a plan to help gain the highest score possible with my current collection of heroes/friends.
Which is hard when a single hero would do well in many, taking away the others' opportunity to show themselves off.
I mentally discussed this predicament with Aether.
So basically, Keqing is OP?
'Yeah, her ability to teleport would allow her to cover the 50-meter dash and with Kaeya or Razor in the party, we'd be able to cover more ground while running. Not to mention the sideways jumps test, if she can maintain her burst by only focusing on manoeuvring she'd be able to demolish it.'
We haven't actually tested if she can do that. We know that our strength and ability can go beyond the system here but the-
'The laws against Public Quirk usage prevented us from testing outside a select few. God, I wish we weren't caught.'
Can only hope that we'll have more freedom to once we get to U.A.
'Most definitely, though I don't remember much quirk training outside of lessons and short montages. There might be a gym they can let us use.'
If we didn't have video game logic on our side, that gym would not last an hour.
'Ha, true... Hey Aether?'
Yeah?
'Random thought, you know how you accompany me mentally?'
...Yeah?
'And how you help me and such.'
...Yea- Where are you going with this?
'Well, doesn't that make you Paimon?'
... Oh God.
'Yeah, sorry. My mind just went there.'
Just so long as I don't become backup food, I'll forget I even heard that.
'Haha-! Backup food!'
Shut it.
I arrived at U.A soon after and went to the reception in hopes of a map. Back in my past life when I entered secondary school for the first time, there was a minimap in our contact books as it was a massive school. Thankfully U.A did have pamphlets for new students on display and I grabbed myself a couple. Just in case I lose one or I bump into someone who could use one. Definitely not pre-planning a possible friend encounter, nope.
The map definitely helped answer a few questions of mine that would benefit me and my heroes.
For one, there was a gym with opening times for students to use. With the teachers' permission of course. A pool (oh yeah, wasn't there an OVA or something where they swam? [1]) which would be good as Teyvat doesn't make long time swimming possible. A Library which I know that Lisa and Xingqiu would love, Albedo may also be interested but I won't know until he's out (Many characters spoke of Albedo, saying he's an alchemist master. I think he may like books.). Where the cafeteria is which Xiangling would probably pester me to allow her to visit (I'm sorry Lunch Rush). And Finally where the different department classes were.
Speaking of, I need to get going to my classroom.
When I arrived, I found the door wide open.
Curious, I popped my head out to look inside. Casually, of course, don't want to make a fool of myself.
What I saw made my fan loving heart stop for a split second, as standing and sitting there before me as the whole 20 students of Class 1-A. And it just solidified the reality that I was going to be their 21st student.
I silently wondered where I would sit.
But what drew my most attention where the students right in front of me. More specifically the main trio and current antagonist of Bnha. And my mind was going through a fangirling frenzy. Have you ever met a celebrity or saw a celeb in person? Yeah, it be like that. (I'm trying so hard to stay calm right now. When I saw Markiplier for the first time I screamed so loud [2])
A rational part of my mind reminded me that I must've arrived right after Uraraka. Which means...
"If you're gonna be hunting for buddies do it elsewhere."
Ah... It seems I'm now entering the next stage of fangirling. Shock mode.
Hearing Aizawa was one thing, seeing Aizawa on the floor in a yellow sleeping bag sucking on a juice box straw is another thing.
I could legit just die happy right here.
With attention got drawn to Aizawa, so did the students notice my presence. But I was way too busy staring at one of the best teachers in anime history to care.
With fascination as I questioned how it was physically possible, Aizawa turned himself upright before taking off his sleeping back to reveal his hero costume underneath.
"Hmm, it took you lot 8 seconds to quiet down." [3]
He sounded tired, bored and gives off an uncaring feel to him. My mind silently reminded me that he cares a lot and has a funny sense of humour.
"Life is short kids, you're all lacking in common sense." Says the caterpillar man.
"So he must be a pro hero, too, huh?" A voice said behind me in the classroom. I turned slightly to see it was Midoriya. He looked surprised and slightly baffled at what he just witnessed. Which is understandable.
"I'm your homeroom teacher, Aizawa Shouta. Pleasure meeting you." I resist the urge to snicker at his facial expression. He just doesn't care (in a funny way) and I'm having trouble trying not to laugh.
Lifting his sleeping back, he dug his hand inside and took out U.A's gym uniform. Was...was he sleeping with that?
"Wear these. Immediately. And then shove off to the P.E. grounds." Aizawa then shoves the uniform in front of wide-eyed Midoriya's face.
Is he going to wear the uniform Aizawa slept with?
Following my new now not fictional classmates to the changing rooms, I found myself a nice corner to get changed in.
I didn't want to disturb anyone or get in anyone's way, I might a bit uncomfortable in my own skin but that is just something I will just have to get used to. Getting changed into the PE uniform, I start feeling excited at the prospect of actually being in UA. Reminiscent of the first time I went to Teyvat. The start of a new exciting part of my life.
Feeling motivated I quickly got changed and headed out, the others were close behind, chatting with each other.
I would talk with Aether but I need to focus to avoid Aizawa-sensei's ire. I would like not to be included in his list of expulsions thank you very much.
Aizawa-sensei is a peculiar character to please. He doesn't like arrogant people, but he also doesn't like people not giving it their all. How do you show off while at the same time not be a show-off?
I'm still answering that myself, but I think it's by being humble, kind and serious when it comes to using your 'quirk' or skills. No messing about, no bragging and always try to improve.
Let's just hope my heroes don't disappoint him. I can name a few who would do the exact opposite of those rules.
Arriving at the P.E grounds first, I stood opposite from Aizawa. Who just stared at me. Which was slightly concerning as he'd just get dry eyes, which was bad enough because of how his quirk worked.
Let me tell you, being stared down by THE Aizawa Shouta is the scariest things I've ever experienced. And I fought a dragon!
Soon enough my classmates caught up and Aizawa-sensei announced why we were here.
"A QUIRK APPREHENSION TEST?!" The class shouted. I rubbed my ear from how loud they were. In the corner of my eye, I saw Midoriya doing some weird hand position.
Uraraka called up concerned and confused. "What about the ceremony!? And the guidance counsellor meeting!?" I much prefer going outside being active than cooped up standing still for thirty minutes listening to speeches Uraraka. No offence, but ceremonies are a fainting hazard. Take it from someone who did.
You know she can't hear you right?
'Doesn't mean I can't mentally respond. And it protects my dignity.'
"If you want to be heroes, we don't have time for frilly niceties," Aizawa said calmly in return.
With his back towards the class, he turned his head slightly towards us. "You all understand the school's reputation for freedom on campus. Well, that 'Freedom' goes for us senseis too."
A sense of dread seems to have swept through the class, afraid to know how far that freedom went.
Aizawa-sensei then began listing the tests.
"Softball pitch, standing long jump, 50-meter dash, endurance running, grip strength test, sustained sideways jumps, upper body exercises, seated toe-touch."
"There are all activities you know from middle school naturally. Physical tests where you were barred from using your quirks. The country still hasn't gotten to standardizing those sorts of records or keeping track of average performance levels. Well, that's negligence on the part of MEXT(TL/N: The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology)."
"Yo. How far could you pitch a softball in middle school?" When did Aizawa start acting like Kakashi? Anyway, I should move back a bit to avoid Bakugo's blast zone.
"Mei Yo, are you paying attention?" Aizawa said, now right in front of me.
"Huh?" Wait, why is he talking to me?
"I asked how far you could pitch a softball in middle school?"
I pointed a finger to myself in confusion. Shouldn't he have asked Bakugo that? "Me?"
Aizawa sighed with a slight slouch. "It seems your surname will be the root of a lot of problems. Yes, I was speaking to you."
Not wanting to waste any more of Aizawa's time I told him the answer. Which was the slightly above average distance.
He nodded his head before passing me the ball. "Try using your quirk this time around. As long as you don't exit the circle anything you do is fine."
Aizawa-sensei looked me right in the eye. "Don't hold back."
With a look of confusion and the ball in my hand, I separate myself from the class and stood in the circle.
Something must've happened that affected Aizawa's decision. While it was concerning that I was already creating ripples, I've already read countless fics where the same thing happened. So I'm not too worried as the test doesn't have a big impact outside of Bankugo's and Midoriya's relationship and class standing.
With that in mind, I initiated my plan of action.
Taking a deep breath I called out my hero of choice right before the familiar feeling of switching swept through my body.
"Venti"
Gone was the Asian girl, now replaced by the Windborne Bard. Peculiarly dressed in U.A's gym uniform with his iconic beret-like hat with a Cecilia on top of his head, his 'Vision' attached to the waist accompanied by two feathers.
I let go of some control for Venti to familiarise himself and work his charm on the now confused class.
Venti's eyes blinked into focus as he takes in his surroundings. He felt something off about his clothes and looks down to see his new attire.
"Ooh~! Snazzy!" Venti commented, doing a little twirl like the femboy he is. He turned towards Aizawa who seemed confused at what he is witnessing. "Do you have one in green?"
"Just...Get on with the test."
"Very well then. I recommend that you stand back a bit. Oh, and perhaps hold on to something. Don't want to get blown away." Venti advised before getting into position.
Aizawa moved back a bit and motioned the others to do the same.
The class was trying to come into terms that a girl just turned into a feminine looking boy. While they've seen body changing quirks before, they didn't understand how turning into a smaller boy would affect her results.
"She turned into a boy!"
"What kind of quirk is that?"
"Mei Yo... Hey, isn't that?"
"The student that got first place in the exam?!"
"Wait, are you serious?"
"I'm sure! They got like nearly 100 points!"
"100!? That's close to All Might's score!"
The quiet chatting soon turned into a frenzy of excitement. Anticipating what the first-place student could do. A few students had their own unique reactions.
Bakugo fumed at the and I quote 'shitty femboy turning girl' for taking his 'rightful' spot as number one. A white and red-haired boy with heterochromia iridium eyes and a scar narrowed his eyes at the girl now boy, seeing them as competition. While Midoriya looked on in wonder as someone topped Kacchan's score, and who had the highest chance of being a top hero was before him. With a new and unique quirk to boot. [4]
Venti is well aware of the looks he was getting, as a bard you need to know when you have an audience to please. However, when Mei told him beforehand that he'd partake in the test, she didn't mention the attention he'd receive. But that was a surprise in itself, what a better way to meet the class than doing the thing he loves.
Perform.
He summoned his Skyward Harp Bow, in honour of Dvalin, drawing sounds of surprise from his audience. He mildly remembered Mei telling him how weapon summoning only existed in Teyvat. And that weapons themselves were not widely used in her world. That the weapons that are used are deadlier and faster than the ones he's used to.
He was happy to be told that the country she lives in, Japan, has major restrictions on the ownership and usage of guns.
With a smile on his face, Venti summoned an arrow and jabbed it into the ball. You can argue on aerodynamics all you want but when it comes to video game logic, it does not apply here. Once shot, the system would just ignore the added weight and will fly true. Unaffected by anything until it hits something.
It was one of the last things Mei and Venti were able to test out in her world, and it was finally going to be put into fruition.
The plan for the softball pitch was called 'Kimi no nawa'. Which is unfortunate as it was daytime, so the magic would be lost. Fortunately, Venti has a little trick up his sleeves that he has been meaning to test out. Something that even Mei won't see coming.
With the now arrow pierced ball, Venti drew his bow, the aforementioned arrow ready to be fired as he aimed towards the sky.
Anemo energy began to gather at the tip of the arrow as the wind swirls around it, before solidifying into a ball of anemo energy.
At this point, Mei was prepared to fire but Venti had other plans.
Suddenly, there was an explosion of wind that seemed to have burst out from Venti. It was so unexpected that some of the students were pushed back a bit.
The anemo energy grew in intensity as Venti uses what little left of power he had from his Gnosis. The wind blew and circulated in velocity as it gathered speed and power.
Before Venti runs out, he let go of the string and the arrow, like a missile, shot through the air at an impossible speed. Immediately breaking the sound barrier, pushing the students and Aizawa further back from the rebound of air pressure. [5]
The arrow pierced ball shot through the sky leaving a visible trail of anemo energy in its wake. Souring higher than ever before, at a faster speed, the arrow soon went out of sight. As the sun's light outshined the arrow. Leaving only the meter in Aizawa's hand as the only possible way to track the arrow's distance.
Turning towards Aizawa with a cheerful spin, Venti was greeted by a dishevelled Aizawa. It looked like as though he stood in front of a jet engine for a long time causing his hair to end up swayed back and sticking out like Sonic the hedgehog.
"Huh," Venti tilted his head in confusion. "Did you get yourself a new haircut Aizawa-sensei?"
Aizawa brought up his hand with the meter. Ignoring the question, he took a look and watched in amazement as the numbers rapidly went up.
The tracker was linked up to a satellite, so long as the ball stays within orbit they could track its distance. He waited for a full 20 seconds before determining that the ball would not be stopping anytime soon as the numbers continue to go higher and higher.
He turned to the now dazed class and showed the neverending results. "Before anything else, one must know what they're capable of. This is a rational metric that will form the basis of your 'Hero Foundation'."
Snapping out of their daze the class aw'd at the rising numbers. Iida, in particular, put his hand up drawing Aizawa's attention and permission to speak.
"Aizawa-sensei! May I ask what's wrong with the meter?!" He spoke loud and straightforward as he asked his question, to which Aizawa responded.
"Nothing is wrong,"He said matter of fact before turning his gaze as the ever-changing number. "Though I theories that the ball may orbiting the earth and won't be stopping anytime soon."
This seemed to shock Iida as well as the class. "Orbit you say?!" The class started to grow in excitement.
"Awesome! That looks so fun!"
"It went into orbit? Unreal!"
"We can really use our quirks now?! That's the department of heroics for you!"
Aizawa's voice broke through the excitement.
"It looks fun...You say?"
A sense of doom fell before the class and Aizawa continued.
"So you were planning to spend your three years here. Having a good ol'time? What happened to becoming heroes?"
He looked up at the class with his black bloodshot eyes staring back at us.
"All right then. In that case, new rule: The student who ranks last in total points will be judged 'Hopeless' and instantly expelled."
Brushing his hand through his hair he revealed his mocking face. "Our 'Freedom' means we dispense with students as we please!"
"Welcome to this...The Department of Heroics!"
The class was filled with mix responses. Most were excited, full of adrenaline and determined to prove their worth. While a few were filled with dread and worry.
Venti however just watched the scene play out.
Mei was currently in shock over what he just did so he had full control until she recovered.
He gave the world a quick look around. It was definitely more futuristic and different than what he's used to. While it gave him a look into what the future may hold for Mondstadt if they followed the same path. He felt slightly worried that the city of freedom would be lost and the green hills would be replaced by skyscrapers and machinery. While he doesn't want to Mondstadt to go in that direction, he can't stop his people for following their dreams or restrict their growth as that would go against his code of freedom.
Perhaps Mondstadt would learn to do better than the people of this world and preserve its nature while making life easier.
He can only hope.
With that in mind, Venti could not wait to explore this new world.
Sensing Mei returning back to her sense, Venti did her a favour and switched out. Leaving a slightly dazed Mei in his place.
"The kid who ranks last...gets expelled..!?" Uraraka cried, snapping me back into reality. "This is our first day here! But even if it weren't... That's just too unreasonable!"
"Natural disasters... Massive accidents... Ego-mad villains..." Aizawa began.
"All kinds of Calamities can happen when we least expect them. Japan's now positively drenched in 'unreasonable.'" With a quirk that can take other's quirks and a quirk that can be passed down from person to person, both originating in Japan. Yeah, pretty drenched. But that's mostly the writer's fault.
"And it's our job as heroes to reverse it all, and restore reason." Aizawa continued as he lazily fixed his hair.
"If you were counting on a friendly chat at the local McDonald's after school, that's too bad. From now on, for the next three years all you can expect from your like at UA is one hardship after the next."
With his hand in a fist, he lifted his index finger up. His face now visible showed a challenging smile as he spoke.
"This is 'Plus Ultra'"
"I expect you to overcome these trials and climb to the top."
The class took in Aizawa's words. some preparing themselves, stretching, pumping themselves up and others are patiently waiting. One looked on with worry.
"Time to step up to the plate."
Trial 1: The 50-Meter Dash
I watched as Iida burst through the race as I patiently waited for my turn.
I could feel some of my classmates gaze at me and I shifted uncomfortably.
One of the problems of being an introverted raised extrovert is that you like the attention yet at the same time you don't. Meaning I want other people's attention but once I have it I want to hide in a hole.
While I try to will myself out of existence, a certain pink girl plopped herself beside me.
"What's up?" She asked cheerfully starting up a conversation.
Her presence startled me but I instinctively replied. "Nothing much. You?"
Ashido seemed to think for a bit while looking at the sky. "Hmmm, I see a spaceship!"
"Huh?" Looking up confused, my eyes zeroed in on a peculiarly shaped cloud. "Well what d'ya know, it does look like a spaceship."
"Yup!" Ashido laughed, glad someone shares her imagination. "My name is Mina Ashido, but you can just call me Mina." She said with a cheer.
I smiled in return, can always trust Mina to be the social butterfly. "Mei Yo, but please call me Mei. You can't believe how many times I get confused when someone uses my last name."
She giggled remembering what happened with Aizawa-sensei. "Yeah, I can tell. Must've been tough growing up."
"Most definitely. The other kids would make fun of me and call me Yoyo. Did not appreciate being called a toy."
"I think it's cute."
"Not when it can be implied that they can just toy and mess around with me."
"That's a shame."
"If it makes you feel any better, a yoyo is one of my favourite toys to play with."
"Well, that's a contradiction if I ever heard one."
"Yup, welcome to the life of Yo. Hero at night, Hero in training at day."
That last comment took Mina off guard. "Hero at night? Does that mean you're a vigilante?" She asked slightly concerned as she turned her face towards mine.
I quickly corrected her. "No- no! Of course not. Just another contradiction."
Her eyes widened in understanding. "Ohhh! As a joke! Sorry, my imagination kinda gets the best of me."
"It's alright," I said in understanding.
Her eyes then lit up. "Hey! Speaking of vigilantes! Have you heard of the Darknight Hero?!" She said in excitement. The source of her excitement took me off-guard.
For those reading, you probably already know what she's talking about.
"He had another sighting the other night! Saving a damsel in distress from a villain with those awesome chains of his!" She gushed on.
For those still confused. While testing out the limitations in this world. We discovered that Diluc could use his delusion and as soon as he found that out. He immediately asked that I let him help rid the world of darkness and evil. At times like these when he talks like that, I silently wonder if he's secretly a Chuunibyou. Despite constantly telling him that I needed a licence before I could do any 'ridding the world of darkness', he persisted and I ended up caving in. So now every so often, I let Diluc have full control of our body in my world as I slept and fought in his world.
Overtime Diluc's moniker carried over from Mondstadt and became infamous in Musutafu. So long as I don't use Diluc's delusion in public, I can't be connected to the vigilante.
Before Mina could continue gushing over Diluc's alter ego. It was her turn to run.
I silently laugh at Aoyama Yuuga's use of his quirk. He should learn how to run backwards. It's a fun skill to have, especially useful when manoeuvring around places.
Right after their turn was Bakugo and Midoriya's and I calmly watched Bakugo propel himself to the finish line via explosions. Gotta say, as a fan of explosions it was quite a sight to see. I'm definitely looking forward to more in the future.
Right after their turn was mine, and as the 21st student, I did not have another student to run against. Which is fine I guess, not the first time being the odd student out.
Standing at the starting line, I switched into Kaeya. Like Venti his clothes was replaced, thankfully so was his white fur coat. Which would lessen the wind resistance. He still, however, wore his eyepatch. Obstructing half of his view. His charming exotic looks gained some glances from the female students.
This time, we shared control of our body. I wanted to focus on the test, and Kaeya agreed to it. Besides, he could socialise later.
For those who are wondering. Kaeya's passive skill allowed him to use less stamina, and as one of the tall characters, he can cover a larger distance than someone like Razor who shares the same passive. Not to mention the weird bursts of speed Kaeya happened to do at times. [6]
With that in mind, Kaeya got into a running position before shooting forward towards the finish line. Like predicted, at mid-distance Kaeya suddenly got faster and soon enough covered the distance in seconds.
4.26 seconds in fact.
Kaeya mentally reminded me to work on our running speed at the school gym. To take full advantage of the newfound freedom UA provides. To which I agreed with, for while in Teyvat speed is set. it was already clear that in this world the limit is endless. And I low key want to be able to run at anime speed. I just hope that I didn't have to train each character individually, that would take so much time.
Not wanting to dwell on it any longer, I switched back and went on to the next test.
Trial 2: The Grip Strength Test
Unapologetically, I switched into Diluc gaining a lot of looks from his imposing appearance.
My reason for choosing Diluc was because he's a 5-star claymore user, his control over the claymore requires a lot of strength and a strong grip. His charged attack alone shows how strong he is.
I decided to let Diluc have control as he would be able to stay calm under the stares.
Lifting up the device, Diluc gave it a squeeze. He looked at the results and was not pleased with it, so he increased the pressure as much as possible.
94KGW [7]
Diluc was satisfied but like Kaeya, advised that I train our grip strength. Another one of those moments where they're alike and oppose each other at the same time. Not that they'd admit that.
Trial 3: The Standing Long Jump
At moments like these, I wished I had Xiao.
Instead, I changed into Aether. As the Traveler our bodies and mind become one and got to work.
Aether with his geo skill formed a meteorite on the jumping line. Climbing on top of it, I then quickly switched into Venti. Using his charged skill to summon a concentrated but smaller wind domain under him, his Lyre briefly appearing before disappearing seconds later. Lifting him up and activating the wind gliders, the concentrated wind domain on a higher platform rose him higher than possible in Teyvat and he glided down as far as possible. Clearing the landing zone.
Aizawa watched the utilisation of different abilities silently and jotted down the score.
Trial 4: Sustained Sideways Jumps
I quickly changed my team before switching into Keqing, gaining looks of surprise from the class from the appearance of a girl.
Keqing stood in the middle line and concentrated.
Taking a breath, Keqing activated her burst, Starward Sword.
With a singular objective and no sword in her hand. She blitzed from side to side, purple sparks of electro emitting from her form so fast that only her after images were visible. Lasting longer and faster than ever before. Keqing was able to top Mineta's score.
Something she was pleased with, though the looks she got from the grape kid made her uncomfortable and she switched out.
Trial 5: The Pitch
As I already did the test I was able to sit out and watch the others have their turn.
Bakugo was able to impress the class like in canon, so nothing to worry about there. So future safe for now. Except for the death glare I got from him.
I took a look at the meter that tracked my ball and... it was still going. The numbers were changing too fast for me to tell the current distance.
Looking up, I could see Uraraka's ball lazily float up. I gave a like chuckle at that.
"Infinity!? Holy cow! She got an 'Infinity'!"
Next up was Midoriya, and I... I couldn't watch. It was like second-hand embarrassment and I felt genuinely bad for Midoryia.
When Midoriya failed to use his new quirk, Aizawa revealed his.
(A/N: I'mma just gonna skip the speech)
I gotta say, Aizawa-sensei is really cool. He's like Batman but less grouchy voice and dark behaviour.
Giving Midoriya another chance, Aizawa applied himself eye drops while the class discuss what happened.
"Are you worried for him? I, for one... Don't care." Aoyama said, placing a hand on Uraraka's shoulder. Who responded. "Who're you?" Very confused.
"Looks like he's had some coaching before, but..." Iida thought aloud.
"He's gonna get expelled for sure." Bakugo said uncaringly.
Midoriya thought long and hard, before giving his all while Aizawa talked.
"Probability...Zero"
On the last tip of his finger on the ball, Midoriya focuses One for All at the last second.
"Now"
"SMASH!"
And the ball shot through the sky at an incredible speed. Shocking Bakugo by his feat.
Aizawa looked at his score in surprise, as Midoriya clenched his hand with the broken finger.
"Sensei..! I...I can still move!"
"Oho!" Aizawa said in response, his smile showed promise for Midoriya.
"You finally got a record suitable for a hero!" Uraraka cheered, her arms pumped up. "Yaaay!"
"Your finger's swollen reminds me of the entrance exam incident... What an odd quirk..." Iida commented.
"It's not stylish enough." Aoyama pipped in.
While Bakugo stands still with a shocked face.
Ah, his fuse broke.
"WHAT IS THIS. DEKU!? EXPLAIN NOW, SHITRAG!" He yelled in rage as he blew himself towards Midoriya who in turn screamed in fear.
"UWAAAAAAA!"
"-NGAH!" Until Bakugo was pulled back by Aizawa's capture weapon.
After getting berated for making Aizawa use his quirk on him, Bakugo was let go while Midoriya joined Uraraka.
"Is you finger all right?" She asked in concern.
"Ah.. Yeah..." He replied flustered.
"Tch..." Bakugo ignored then and instead had his own existential crisis.
I don't remember what he thought exactly but I'm pretty sure it's along the lines of 'pebble is now an annoying obstacle that shouldn't exist'.
(A/N: The manga doesn't show the other tests that are shown in the anime but are mentioned. So I'll do a summary of who did what.)
We continued on with the test, which was nothing special.
Razor had fun running in the endurance run, Mona proved to be very flexible in the seated toe-touch and Noelle enjoyed the upper body exercises.
Now it was time for the results.
No one knew that Aizawa would take back what he said, so people were afraid of getting last place. Midoriya more specifically.
"Time to present the results." Aizawa-sensei began.
The results showed up on the screen. Everything was the same except I got second place. I just made the glaring duo hella mad.
"Oh yeah, that whole 'expulsion' thing was a lie."
The looks on the class' faces were so comically shocked I had to stifle my laughter.
With a mocking grin, Aizawa announced. "It was a logical ruse to pull out your best performances." Ha, I love that man.
"WHAAAAAAAAAAAAT!?" The main trio screamed in shock. Midoriya in particular looking like something out of a Japanese horror movie.
"C'mon guys, use your brains! Of course it was just a ruse!" Yaoyorozu said in a matter of fact tone. To which I corrected her.
"Actually," She turned in my direction, so did many others. Oh right, I barely spoke the entire test. "Last year he was responsible for the expulsion of his entire class. To this day he expelled a little over 150 students."
This shocked many, even Yaoyorozu. "So you're saying that it wasn't a lie?"
I shook my head. "I think he meant it, but we were able to impress him enough to let us stay."
Midoriya who heard this collapsed to the floor in shock. "I... I was almost expelled." Uraraka patted his back in comfort.
Aizawa looked us over before turning around to leave.
"And... right. Yep. With that, it's over. Your curriculum sheets are back in the classroom so give them a once-over."
"Midoriya" He addressed, who was still on the ground flinched.
Aizawa-sensei handed him a note. "Go to recovery girl and get yourself patched up. Since your eyeballs will doubtless pop out of their sockets at tomorrow's absurd ordeal."
Before leaving, he turned his head towards me. "Principle Nezu has requested that you come visit his office concerning your quirk"
I nodded, and he left my class and me at the site
Mirdoriya started to walk towards to what I presume the infirmary and I decided to lend him a hand.
Running up to his side I decided to be confident for once and say hi.
"Hi, you're going to the infirmary right?"
My sudden appearance frightened him but he quickly gathered his bearings.
"Uh, y-yeah..."
Ok, I had to ask.
"Do you know where the infirmary is?"
Midoriya then proceeds to stop in his tracks as his mind races to find any information on his destination. Only to realise that he has no idea.
It was pretty clear on his face that I had to laugh. Midoriya then blushed and sweats in response in complete embarrassment.
"How about this, lets quickly go get change and I can give you my extra pamphlet that includes the map of the school. The Principle's office is in the direction of the infirmary and I think I can do something about your injury if you like I mean." I offered, when I mentioned getting change the look on his face confirms that he didn't even think about that either.
"C'mon, let's go." I started to pick up the pace towards the changing rooms, snapping Izuku back into reality before trying to catch up with me.
"H-hey, wait!"
"Here ya go," I said as I handed Midoryia the pamphlet, I didn't expect it to be handy in this situation.
"Th-thanks." Gosh, he really does stutter a lot when around a girl isn't he.
"Now that I think about it, we haven't introduced ourselves to each other yet. My name is Mei Yo, please call me Mei to avoid any confusion." I finished with a smile, feeling slightly embarrassed that I missed a crucial point of meeting someone.
"Ah! My name Izuku Midoryia, thank you for helping me."
"No prob, speaking do you want me to heal your finger a bit before you meet Recovery Girl? Just to make the healing process easier. A few of my heroes are healers so I think I can help." I asked embarrassingly, suddenly being put on the spot as Midoriya stared at me.
His eyes lit up.
"Wow! So your quirk lets you change into heroes? And they can heal too?! That's an amazing quirk!" He was totally enraptured at the thought of my 'quirk's capabilities.
Before he could go into a mumbling tangent I interjected.
"So, you ok with me healing you?"
"If it saves me from being kissed sure!" One mention of a quirk and his confidence suddenly gets boosted.
"Sweet. Pardon me then."
In a flash of light, more like sparkles, in Mei's place was a white-skinned girl with blonde hair in pigtails wearing the school's uniform with a nurse cap on top.
Introducing Barbara, the Shining Idol.
"Whoa..." Midoriya voiced in awe, it was one thing to see it at a distance but it was another up close. There wasn't even a hint of the girl before him being Mei and as far as he could tell, she wasn't anymore. Well, at the moment.
Instead of the usual brown, blue eyes greeted him with cheer.
"Hello there, what can I help you with?" Barbara said with a kind smile.
"U-um, my finger if you could please." Midoriya cautiously lifted his injured finger forward.
Barbara gasped at the sight of it.
"My goodness, you're just as bad as Bennett. Let me fix that for you. It'll just take a few seconds."
Barbara placed her hands over Midoryia's injured hand and water in the shape of music notes and staff wraps around his hand. Dancing along to a silent song.
Midoriya watched it in awe.
"Ah, thank you. Um, are you still Mei?"
"Hm? Oh my, I didn't introduce myself, didn't I? Who Mei is right now is I, Barbara. Right now I'm mostly controlling our body while Mei is watching in the background."
"Huh?" Midoryia was now officially confused.
"I believe it is similar to DID, except that each one of us is real and has no connection to Mei except for relations. Mei usually takes the reigns back on Teyvat but she likes to let us be ourselves when we are on Earth." Barbara explains as she heals Midoryia.
"And Teyvat is?" At this point, Midoriya was itching for his notebook to write all this in.
"It's the world where I and the others live and reside. It's very different from the world you live in. No quirks, only Visions to those who gained the gods' attention."
"Wait? Gods!?"
"And done!"
Before Midoryia could ask any more questions, Barbara brought his attention to his now completely healed finger.
"H-how..." Healing Quirks were rare and the strong ones usually involve a drawback. Yet as far as he could tell both he and Me-er-Barbara were totally fine.
"It's my duty as a deaconess to help those in need to the fullest of my capabilities. If I can't even do that then how can I face the people that rely on me to help them." Barbara said seriously. Her eyes wander for a bit before slowing to a stop. "I must go now, both myself and Mei included."
"Eh?" Midoriya was still confused over everything he heard and witnessed.
In light pop, Mei returned and pointed towards the door besides Midoryia.
Infirmary Room.
Before Midoryia could process his surroundings Mei was already on her way to the Principals office.
"See ya Midoriya! You can ask me more questions later!" She called out behind her, leaving a frazzled fanboy behind.
Entering the Principal's office was intense, to say the least.
Principal Nezu sat at his desk, paws up under his chin as he stares at me with interest.
I gotta say that he looked pretty cute but that scar on his face just tells you to not underestimate him. Not that I already didn't know that.
"Glad to have you here Miss Yo, we have much to discuss." Nezu started with glee.
I raised a eyebrow. "About my 'quirk' right? And please call me Mei."
"Of course Miss Mei, and you are right on point. It's not every day you see a quirk description described as complicated. I would like to get a better understanding so that my school can help you to the best of their abilities. We hold various activities focusing on quirk improvement and we can't plan anything for you if we don't know how it works, now can we?" Nezu's smile slightly widens, you could just tell that he was excited to learn about my 'quirk'.
Also, Miss Mei sounds like Miss Me? Is he trying to be funny?
"Um, well I'll answer to the best of my ability then. I still find myself confused on how it works." I confessed, rubbing te back of my head with my hand.
"Your quirk manifested over a year ago correct?"
"Yeah, I don't remember when exactly but I started having dreams."
"Dreams? Of what exactly?"
"Of another world called Teyvat. I wasn't myself, physically speaking. My body was that of a boy called Aether who is searching for his sister."
"'is'? Is he still searching for her?"
"Yes, it will probably take years until we actually find and save her."
"Is she in trouble?"
"I can't give you a clear answer on that as even I don't know. But during our travels across Teyvat more specifically Mondstadt and Liyue, we encounter a variety of unique characters, eh, people."
"How are these dreams related to your quirk?"
"All those people, the heroes I switch into are the people I met in my dreams. Aether included."
"...And how many are there?"
"At least 20, and I know it will only continue to increase as more of Teyvat is opened up."
"I see... What are the limitations of your quirk?"
"Um, whenever I switch, use a skill or burst, there is a cooldown on when I can use it again. And I need to gather energy from fighting to use my burst. Oh, and I can't change my team while in combat."
"Team? Please explain."
"I can have a total of four heroes in a team/party at a time. Allowing me to swiftly switch between them. I have to change my team manually which takes up some time if I want to switch into a different hero. I usually have my teams planned out for different comps depending on the upcoming fight."
"Fascinating Miss Mei. So all these heroes have their own unique quirk? That is quite a powerful quirk you got there."
"Oh, they don't have quirks."
"...Pardon me Miss Mei, but did I hear that correctly?"
"In Teyvat they don't have quirks. The people are basically quirkless."
"Then how?"
"Visions."
"Visions?"
"In Teyvat they have gods that watch over the land. More specifically the Seven Archons. Each Archon governs over a region and is tied to their own specific element. The elements are Anemo wind, Hydro water, Pyro fire, Dendro grass, Electro lightning, Cryo ice and Geo rock. When a citizen of Teyvat meets certain requirements and correlates to a specific Archon they'll be bestowed a Vision that is used to harness one of the elements. Everyone except Aether and Venti wields a Vision and uses it in various ways."
"That... is a lot to take in. I apologies Miss Mei, I'm having a hard time processing this even with my quirk. Would it be alright for you to come by again to continue our chat? I would love to learn more about this world and the heroes that live in it."
"Sure!" I said with glee. Principal Nezu was practically vibrating and I can only imagine what he will do once I'm gone.
As soon as I left the room, what sounds like an explosion can be heard inside as I head on home.
I'd say today was pretty eventful.
A/N: Shout out to Ely on Amino! XD
[1] (A/N: I never saw it so I don't know :p)
[2] (A/N: Your Welcome Tour was so amazing and I never screamed so hard in my life)
[3] (A/N: I'm using the manga as a reference, which makes it difficult to tell what emotion or tone their conveying)
[4] (A/N: Just for anyone who is worrying. I don't intend to do a harem. And currently, I don't know if I want to ship Mei with anyone yet(low self-esteem is a b*tch))
[5] (A/N: I cannot do my vision justice. Just imagine an epic explosion of wind with Venti in a slightly crouched pose as the wind causes their clothes to fly crazily.)
[6] (A/N: He legit does this. He would suddenly go sonic and have a short burst of speed. Don't know why)
[7] (A/N: Idfk, I don't do sports. I tried looking it up. 46KG is average, so I doubled it)
[8] (A/N: Low key, how can anyone take Batman seriously?)
Sorry for the abrupt ending. I'm not the expert at writing, or talking so I didn't know where I was going with this.
The Update will be live soon, and I need to finish Liyue's quest! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!
Anyway!
1.0 is done! next chapter is 1.1, so I'm catching up!
2 to 3 more chapters and I'd be caught up.
Sorry for the late update! I had a fever Wednesday and was dying up to Sunday.
More replying to reviews!
AshenPlight: I'm so sorry! XD
Guest: LOL Sorry! New chapter now!
EmptySpot: Wooohooo! Glad you're liking it!
Eliza Crystal: Nicesu
TheUltamateSimp: Ok cool! My pfp is accurate to what I look. I had it cut but yeah. Mei's hair is long with no fringe. Has it down, a few strands hanging in front of her shoulders. And thank you! You too! Merry Christmas!
Oliver Otter1: Yessu! XD
Mitsuki Sakata: Lucky! but hey, at least your friend and I are prepped for Dragonspine.
DevineAurora: Thank you! and I will!
[Edit]: HI! I FINALLY GOT IT DONE.
I removed the cringe, though I may have added cringe. I don't know, its 10pm. been writing for a few hours.
Thank you for all the support! Everytime I receive a review I get the urge to write and finish a chapter for you guys. I did a lot more planning, and planned for more future events.
One of the things that I'm still contemplating is who to have an internship with. Physical exercises would be good, but also management skills. I thought maybe Endeavour but I don't like him. I hear that he had a redemption or whatever but still. Doesn't change the fact that I don't like him the majority of the time he is a *ss. Any ideas? Btw, a no on Hawks. He is more suited for those who can fly and can keep up with his speed. plus, I don't know squat about his character. I was considering Nighteye but I don't know his position pre canon or if Astroboy is intershipping him at the time. (It's been years since I read about Nighteye in the manga).
Btw! I got Xiao! I am now saving for Childe. I currently have 90 wishes on hand but the 50/50 scares me. Also, I got Qiqi on my 27 pull on the standard banner with the free fates. :D
Just so that you guys won't have to wait who knows how long for your review reply. I'll reply it here!
REVIEW REPLYING
AyameShirayuki: Thank you for being patient!
adam110902: :)
unnoticed reader: Thank you! And Thank GOD! I was able to get Xiao so all I need to worry now is the 50/50 rate *sweating bullets*
MochineNyan: I've gotten to around theorising that Mondstadt consists of inspiration from Northen Europe. From Authurian Legend, German language, French architecture, Netherland windmills to the Nordic Gods (Fischl is inspired by the mythology of Odin which is Viking.) As long as no one is stating that it's based on one country alone I'm totally fine cause it ignores all the clear evidence of cross inspiration. I personally find it funny when someone said they thought Mondstadt is based off of America because 'Freedom'. I see no castles or knights in America so no. I live in Wales which as one of the most castles in the world. I'm within walking distance to one and let me tell you, it feels like I'm in Mondstadt up there.
Joeyginise: It's my substitute for skins lol. I thought it would feel weird if their clothes wouldn't change while everyone else was in uniform. It helps to identify Mei and the characters as part of the group and allows them to fit in with their environment outside of combat. The new character leak Eluka i think swearing the female version of Kaeya's attire, so it is entirely possible.
cloud: please refer to my other replies on this topic. Personally, I think Fontaine will be inspired by Italy, with Venice, and all. And France, Britain, Netherlands and the Nordic Countries were used as inspiration for Mondstadt. The City of Mondstadt is inspired by a real place in France. From the Trevail trailer it looks as though Fontaine is very fashionable with corresponds to Italy's Fashion Central title. I'm hoping that Fontaine will be inspired by the Mediterranean as a whole as it will correspond to Greek Myth about Atlantis as Fontain's main city will be underwater.
Dcraus: Hi, it is an interesting idea. I can't remember my initial thought of this crossover but I think it be super funny and cool if Diluc gets summoned as the Shield Hero. He'll give no Fs. But it will also be cool if Zhongli gets summoned as the Shield Hero and maybe he could possibly befriend the Spear Hero and teach him some tricks with the spear. Zhongli would be unstoppable lol.
Eliza Crystal: Awww~ Thank you! (/w/)
Dcraus: Hm, we will see. I'm a Ochako x Izuku shipper so ye.
baf: lol XD Thank you!
Everpeach: One, wtf is that pfp lol XD. and 2, terribly sorry XD
WOW: What do you mean? It's Full of cringe and I'm trying to purge it or ignore it.
Efthee: Thank you!
Guest: YES! I AIN'T GONNA ABANDON IT
Lisad80: :D
That's it for now. It's nearly 11pm. Night my fellow Travellers!
