Mimi, Matt, Sora, Izzy, and I quickly headed back to the office. Once we composed ourselves and prepared for what was coming next, we jumped inside the TV. We safely landed at our usual destination. The same ominous feeling that we had during our previous encounter with Astamon here still lingered.
"The sky has turned to an odd color," I said. "That nurse has to be here."
"Something must have happened in this world just like last time," Sora said.
"It's quiet. Too quiet," Matt said.
"Isn't that cutie bear supposed to be here," Mimi asked.
"You're right; Teddie is usually somewhere around when we normally arrive here. Today, however, he is nowhere to be seen," Izzy stated.
"What should we do," Sora asked. "We usually rely of Teddie to lead us down the correct path to where our Shadows or the Digimon would be. Do we have any other means to follow the nurse outside of Teddie's help?"
"Hard to say," Izzy said. "When I last tried to do that with the crystal ball, it only gave me a general read of the area rather than a specific point where the enemy could be."
"Let me try," I said, putting on my goggles. "It's very faint, but I think I see something akin to distortion lines. I'm assuming it will lead us to the right place."
"Looks like that's the only lead we have," Matt said. "Are there any other suggestions?"
"If that's the case, then we have no choice," Sora said. "We're going to have to rely on your eyes, Tai. Lead the way."
"Don't worry; if anything happens, I'll protect you," Mimi said.
"Thanks for the vote of confidence," I said.
"Okay, let's stay as close as possible," Izzy said. "Hopefully, there'll be some light as the end of this tunnel."
Episode 15
Izzy, Sora, Matt, and Mimi followed me from behind as I slowly navigated my way around the TV World based of the distorted lines. When the lines were darker, or if more were showing up, I would continue to walk towards that direction. Thankfully, no Shadows spotted us as we maneuvered our way around the dystopian landscape. Eventually, in what felt like a lifetime, we ended up in front of what appeared to be a large pyramid.
"What is that," I asked.
"It's huge," Mimi said.
"It looks like a pyramid," Izzy said.
"You mean like the ones in Egypt," Sora asked.
"What's a pyramid doing here in the first place," Matt question.
"This has to be a location created by the school nurse," I said.
"Yes, but what is the significance of her choosing a pyramid of all things," Sora asked. "I thought it was supposed to be a tomb for deceased pharaohs."
"Yes, but it can also represent a symbol of rebirth or life after death," Izzy explained.
"I've never thought of it like that," Mimi said.
"Moving on, Izzy, can you get a general read of this place," Matt asked.
"I should be now that we're in front of it," Izzy said.
"We might as well take this opportunity to call out our Digimon," Sora suggested. "We don't know what lies ahead, so it's better to be safe than sorry."
"Alright, let's do this," I said.
"Persona," everyone shouted.
We shattered the cards in front of us to release our companion Digimon sealed inside and donned our new attire.
"Tai, it's good to see you again," Agumon said.
"Palmon, you've made it," Biyomon said.
"It's great to see that you've recovered well," Gabumon said.
"Thank you, everyone," Palmon replied.
"By the way, where are we this time," Tentomon said. "Will it be dangerous?"
"Hard to say, but there's only one way to find out," Sora said. "Izzy, have you got a full reading of this location yet?"
"Give me a minute," Izzy said. "Yes, I got the area scouted. It looks like our nurse in question is located at the top of the pyramid."
"If it's anything like all the other buildings we went to, it's probably a lot bigger than it looks, which means it's going to be a long climb up this thing," Matt said.
"Cheer up, Matt; let's focus on the most important thing: defeating the evil nurse and saving everyone from the hospital," Mimi said.
"Alright, let's go," I replied.
We went inside the pyramid and were immediately greeted by a variety of Shadows, such as Platinum Dice, Bribed Fuzz, Mach Wheel, and Golden Beetle.
"Well, so much for trying to sneak around," Tentomon said.
"How," Mimi asked. "We just got here."
"It's like they were waiting for us," Matt said.
"What should we do," Biyomon questioned.
"What we always do," I replied. "You guys ready?"
"Yeah," the Digimon replied.
"Agumon, Strength Arcana Digivolve to… Greymon," Agumon shouted.
"Gabumon, Emperor Arcana Digivolve to… Garurumon," Gabumon shouted.
"Biyomon, Empress Arcana Digivolve to… Birdramon," Biyomon shouted.
"Tentomon, Hermit Arcana Digivolve to… Kabuterimon," Kabuterimon shouted.
"Patamon, High Priestess Arcana Digivolve to… Togemon," Palmon shouted.
"Alright, go get them, Togemon," Mimi said.
"I'll wipe the floor with them," Togemon said. "Let's dance! Coconut Punch!"
Togemon smashed the Golden Beetle with its large fists.
"Heh heh, just like squishing a beetle," Togemon said.
"Hey, I take offense to that," Kabuterimon said.
"Sorry," Togemon replied.
Togemon tried the same move on the Mach Wheel, but the attack bounced back at it.
"Ow, what was that all about," Togemon said.
"It seems like that wheel thing reflects all physical attacks, but it is weak to electrical moves," Izzy explained.
"That's my cue," Kabuterimon said. "Electro Shocker!"
Kabuterimon fired an electric ball at the wheel, causing it to disappear.
"Nice work, Kabuterimon," Mimi said.
"I thank you for the flattery," Kabuterimon said.
"Alright, let's clean up this mess and head to the top of this thing," Greymon said.
We tirelessly maneuvered our way around the pyramid as more and more Shadows continued to ambush us and catch us from behind. The higher we climbed up the pyramid, the higher in quantity and the more frequent the Shadows appeared. Near the top of the pyramid, we encountered was a giant white snake with a Mars and Venus sign dangling on its neck. While difficult to overcome, Garurumon's ice powers were enough to seal the deal and put it to rest.
Once the snake was defeated, a pathway opened towards the top of the pyramid. Once we made it up the final steps, we arrived at the top chamber of the pyramid. Sitting on a throne was the school nurse in question; however, she was not alone. Similar to our previous encounter with the false soccer coach, standing next to her was a beautiful snake woman with snake hair.
"There she is," I said.
"And she's not alone," Sora said.
"Who's that next to her," Mimi said.
"You think its's another demon," Matt asked.
"Let me check," Izzy said.
"So, you've arrived," the nurse said.
"What have you done with Yolei and the others," Mimi questioned.
"I've done nothing," the nurse replied. "They were the ones who chose to take the medicine."
"So you admit that those pills were the reason they were like this," Matt said.
"Hundreds of students are bedridden because of your medication," Sora stated. "Do you not feel any shame for your actions?"
"Shame," the nurse repeated. "That's a funny word. I think the term you're looking for is 'effective.'"
"What do you mean," Izzy asked.
"At least, I put you all in a deep slumber so yo don't experience any fear or pain," the nurse explained. "Astamon had a very rough approach dealing with your ilk, beating people up into submission and then throwing them into this world. Honestly, it was rather distasteful."
"She knows Astamon," Izzy said, surprised.
"He was throwing them here," Matt questioned.
"Doesn't that mean there are innocent people here in the TV World," Sora asked.
"We have to help them," Mimi said.
"Oh, I think it's too late for that," the nurse said. "By now, they must have encountered their other self, rejecting them until they are killed by them."
"She even knows about our Shadow selves," Izzy questioned.
"Who exactly are you," I asked.
The nurse snickered. She left her throne and revealed her true self, a catwoman with baggy, leopard pants, twin tails, and a veil covering her nose and mouth.
"She transformed," Mimi said, surprised.
"She must be a Digimon, too," Sora replied.
"You're right," Izzy said. "And her name is Beastmon."
"Silence them," Beastmon said.
"Guys, get away from that demon," Izzy shouted.
The snake women fired red beams from her eyes, which we all move out of the way just in time.
"What was that," Mimi asked.
"That was a Glare," Izzy explained. "If we get caught in it, we'd turn to stone."
"Stone," Sora repeated. "I thought she looked familiar. So, she really is Medusa."
"Who," I asked.
"She's a popular character in Greek Mythology," Matt explained. "She's the one that turns people into stone just with her looks."
"Yeah, even I know about it," Mimi said.
"Not now, Mimi," I said.
"Sorry, kids, I have a tendency to say more than I should," Beastmon said. "I really thought I could put you all away with that, but I guess not."
"You're going to tell us everything we need to know," Sora said.
"And if beating you down is what we need to do, then we'll do so," Matt said.
"I like your spunk," Beastmon said. "Let's see if you can back it up."
Beastmon and Medusa began merging with each other.
"W-What's going on," Mimi said. "What's happening?"
"They're fusing together," Sora said.
"This is just like that time with Astamon," Matt said.
"It gets worse," Izzy said. "I just found a major spike in energy levels here, and it is heading straight out of the TV."
"Oh no, Michael and Mina are out there," I said.
Meanwhile, Michael and Mina were outside of the hospital, surveying the area to make sure no one suspicious was walking by. Suddenly, the door to the basement swung open, and a thick fog covered a wide area outside of the hospital.
"W-What's happening," Mina asked.
"How did all this fog get here," Michael asked.
As they were trying to figure out what was going on, several blobs seeped out from the ground, revealing Trance Twins, Ravens, Bribed Fuzzes, and Platinum Die.
"T-They just came out from the ground," Mina said.
"Don't they look like the ones we fought that one time," Michael asked.
"If they're here, that means the people at the hospital are in danger," Mina said.
"You're right. Let's do this," Michael replied
"Persona," the two shouted.
Mina and Michael donned their new attire while releasing the sealed Digimon locked within their respective cards.
"Michael, it's good to see you again," Betamon said.
"Mina, what's going on," Candlemon asked.
"We need you to protect the hospital from those things," Mina replied.
"There's too many of them, so we need all the help we can get," Michael replied.
"You got it," Betamon said.
"You can count on me," Candlemon replied.
"Betamon, Magician Arcana Digivolve to… Seadramon," Betamon shouted.
"Candlemon, Fortune Arcana Digivolve to… Meramon," Candlemon shouted.
"Ice Blast," Seadramon shouted.
Seadramon froze the Ravens flying above, making then vanish after they fell to the ground.
"Blazing Flames," Meramon replied.
Meramon fired several fireballs from his fists, burning several Trance Twins and making them disappear.
"So far so good," Michael replied.
"Let's keep this up," Mina replied.
Meanwhile, Beastmon and Medusa successfully merged with each other. Beastmon's hair became long and snakelike, while the lower half of its body was a long giant snake tail.
"So, this is what this power feels like," Beastmon replied.
Beastmon fired several lightning bolts from the sky, which many of us dodged.
"Alright, if that's how you're going to play, two can play at this game," I said.
"Nova Blast," Greymon shouted.
Greymon fired a fireball at Beastmon, who dodged the attack.
"Alright everyone, let's see if we can trap her in with our attacks," I said. "She's going to take the brunt of it eventually."
"Got it," Matt said.
"Will do," Sora replied.
"As long as you don't look into its eyes, you're fine," Izzy replied.
"Let's take her on," Mimi said.
"Electro Shocker," Kabuterimon shouted.
Kabuterimon fired an electric ball at Beastmon, who took the hit and absorbed it.
"Thanks for the meal," Beastmon said.
Beastmon fired more lightning bolts from the sky, which Kabutermon dodged.
"Well, that was shocking," Kabuterimon said.
"Let me try," Togemon said. "Needle Spray!"
Togemon fired several needles at Beastmon, who used its large tail to block the attack. Beastmon returned the favor by firing various needles out of the snake hair's mouth. Kabuterimon and Togemon swiftly evaded the attack.
"Meteor Wing," Birdramon shouted.
Birdramon fired several meteors from its wings at Beastmon, who dodged most of them.
"Oh no, you don't," Garurumon said. "Ice Wall!"
As Beastmon was running away from Birdramon's attack, Garurumon created a wall of ice in front of it. Beastmon used its large claws to slice the ice away in order to continue dodging the meteors.
"Fire Wall," Greymon shouted.
Greymon created a large wall of fire, which forced Beastmon to stop in its tracks and try to go around the wall to escape.
"Howling Blaster," Garurumon shouted.
"Bir-Flame," Birdramon shouted.
Garurumon and Birdramon teamed up and fired flames from their mouths to prevent Beastmon from escaping the wall of fire. Eventually, Greymon was able to enclose the fire wall around Beastmon, preventing it from escaping. Greymon walked through the flames while Birdramon and Kabuterimon assisted Garurumon and Togemon respectively inside the ring of fire. The five Digimon surrounded Beastmon as they prepared for their next move.
"Vampire Jewel," Beastmon shouted.
Beastmon fired several jewels off from its body in a wide array, striking the rest of the Digimon. The attacked passed through the fire wall, which caught us by surprise as we were continuously pelted by jewels.
Back in the Real World, Mina, Michael, Seadramon, and Meramon continued to fend off against the horde of Shadows that were attacking them and trying to get inside the hospital. It seemed as though they more they defeat, the more new Shadows appeared.
"There's no end to this," Seadramon said.
"I'm getting a little tired," Mina said.
"Stay strong, Mina. Just hold on a little longer," Meramon replied.
"A little extra help wouldn't hurt," Michael said.
Suddenly, the televisions throughout the hospital started to turn on. Several distortions appeared in front of the TV. Various Digimon started to come out from the television. They broke through the windows of the hospital and began attacking the Shadows. In response to this, the Shadows switched their attention to the incoming Digimon and retaliated against them.
"Digimon," Seadramon said.
"But, how did they get here," Michael asked.
"Their battle is causing collateral damage throughout the vicinity," Meramon said.
"We need to stop them," Mina said. "Innocent people can be caught in the crossfire."
Seadramon and Meramon switched tactics and protected the hospital as the Digimon and Shadows caused havoc throughout the venue. At one point, several ravens began merging with a Snimon, morphing it so that it had multiple black wings, talons instead insect legs, and a raven's head covering the top half of Snimon's head. The fused Digimon began firing multiple fireballs from its wings, destroying many of the Digimon and fracturing the infrastructure of the hospital. This caused the remaining Digimon to retreat back to the Digital World. Seeing this as a victory, more Shadows began to appear from the ground and started to enter the hospital.
"Protect the hospital," Michael said.
"Don't let any of them get in," Mina replied.
Back in the TV World, I slowly got up and surveyed my surroundings. Matt, Sora, Izzy, and Mimi were still on the floor, unconscious. The the wall of fire had died down to a few embers. The embers revealed our Digimon, who have reverted to their Rookie state. As I continued to figure out what happened, I heard jewelry jingling and turn towards it.
"Witch Wrap," Beastmon said.
Beastmon began moving its body seductively. I tried turning away, but couldn't. I was captivated by its movement and froze in place. Beastmon wrapped me around with its long tail and brought me closer to it. Beastmon and the snake hair's eyes glistened. My feet felt heavy. I realized I was turning into stone. I tried to find a way to escape, but I was too fixated at their eyes. At that moment, I recalled Igor's warning and thought of another means to escape.
"Wait, please, hear me out," I pleaded.
I sensed that my petrification stopped midway as Beastmon stopped glaring at me.
"Listen, I'm sorry," I said. "You've probably been through a lot because of your appearance – used, misunderstood, lonely. I want you to know that it's okay. You don't have to feel that way. I'm willing to listen and respect you, but only if you give me a chance. Please?"
As Beastmon slowly loosened its grip on me, Matt and Sora used their weapons to cut off a majority of its hair. Mimi used her needles to pierce the loose snake hair to the ground and target the remaining live snake hair. Beastmon screamed in pain as she tended to her hair. I fell in a thud as Matt and Sora picked me up to retreat.
"You idiot," Matt said. "What were you thinking, sacrificing yourself like that?"
"Well, I knew you guys would come to my aid eventually," I replied.
"If it weren't for us, you would have turned to stone," Sora said. "How do you think we would feel if that happened?"
"I'm sorry," I said.
"Save your apologies after we make it out of this alive," Matt replied.
Beastmon noticed that Matt, Sora, and I were escaping and pursued us.
"Pepper Breath," Agumon shouted.
Agumon fired a fireball at Beastmon, who turned to see where the attack came from.
"Over here," Agumon said.
Beastmon turned its attention towards Agumon and charged after him.
"Agumon, look out," I said.
Meanwhile, inside the hospital, Yolei slowly woke up from her deep slumber. She didn't recognize the room she was in. She tried to recall what happened to her, but her memory was blurry. She knew she was supposed to be in the hospital, but didn't know what happened afterwards. She tried to get up, but slipped and fell from her metal bed. She did not realize how weak her body was.
Yolei painfully clutched her head as she tried to stand up. Now awake, she looked at her surroundings with concern. All she saw was the never-ending thick fog. The swelling in her head was too painful for this to be a dream. With her hand on the bed, the only thing she could rely on, she slowly tried to make her way around the area, hoping to find some means of escape. As she was walking about, she heard a large clatter, like the sound of the bed tipping on its side.
"W-Who's there? Show yourself," Yolei shouted.
No one answered. Using the other beds in the room, she slowly guided herself over to the area where she thought the sound came from.
"Hello," a voice said. "Is anyone here?"
"Derek, is that you," Yolei asked.
"Yolei," Derek questioned. "Where are you? I can't see you."
"Over here," Yolei shouted. "Follow the sound of my voice."
Yolei and Derek maneuvered their way around the beds and fog until they found each other.
"Yolei, thank goodness you're here," Derek said. "I was afraid I might be the only one here."
"I don't think we're the only ones here though," Yolei replied. "These beds all have people on it."
"You're right, but it's a relief to see a recognizable face. Where are we?"
"Judging by the clothes we are wearing, I think we're in the hospital."
"The hospital? Wait, you're right. I remember going to the hospital and talking to them about my headache, but I don't remember what happened after that."
"I had a similar encounter as well. This has to be a hospital ward, but it feels so dark and lonely."
Suddenly, they heard something that sounded like glass shattering.
"What was that," Derek asked.
"It sounded like a broken window," Yolei replied.
"It came from above."
"I wonder what's happening outside."
"Maybe we should check it out. But, how do we get out of here?"
"Look, over there, I think that's an exit sign. We can use that to try and find our way out of the building."
"Sounds like a plan. Stay close to me, Yolei. I don't want to lose you through all this fog."
Yolei and Derek slowly made their way up the hospital in order to get outside. When they arrived, they were stunned. Outside was a battle unlike anything they have seen before. They recognized some of the Digimon fighting, but they didn't know what the other creatures were. In the middle of the chaos were two costumed people who were fighting against those odd creatures.
"W-What's going on," Derek asked. "Why are there so many Digimon here?"
"And what are they fighting against," Yolei asked. "They look surreal."
"Is that Yolei and Derek," Mina asked, looking at the opened door.
"Why are they here," Michael asked. "I mean, I know why are they here, but how did they get here? When did they wake up? How did they wake up?"
As confusion surrounded the DigiDestined, the Shadows took the opportunity to charge after Yolei and Derek.
"Oh no, they're going after them," Mina said.
"Guys, run," Michael shouted.
Seadramon, Meramon, Mina, and Michael all rushed towards Derek and Yolei, who braced themselves as the Shadows got closer to them.
Meanwhile, I found myself back inside the Velvet Room.
"The time has finally come," Margaret said. "My dear guest, you will now awaken a new kind of power. No longer shall you be restricted by the number of arcana you have. You can use the arcana that you own as many times as you wish in order to allow yourself and your companions the ability to harness even greater power."
When my consciousness returned, I quickly created numerous cards around the Rookie Digimon, which surprised everyone, including Beastmon.
"Everyone, I'll lend you my strength," I said. "In return, let's finish this once and for all."
"Got it," everyone replied.
"Gabumon, Four Card Arcana Digivolve to… WereGarurumon," Gabumon shouted.
"Biyomon, Four Card Arcana Digivolve to… Garudamon," Biyomon shouted.
"Tentomon, Four Card Arcana Digivolve to… MegaKabuterimon," Kabuterimon shouted.
"Patamon, Four Card Arcana Digivolve to… Lillymon," Palmon shouted.
"Agumon, Four Card Arcana Digivolve to…MetalGreymon Alterous Mode," Agumon said.
"This can't be possible," Beastmon said.
"Alright, now we're talking," MetalGreymon Alterous Mode said.
Right before the Shadows attacked Derek and Yolei, two blue pillars of light surrounded them, causing the Shadows to stop in its tracks. Michael, Mina, Meramon, and Seadramon also stopped to observe what was happening. When Derek and Yolei lowered their guard, they were awestruck with what they saw.
Two imposing figures stood in front of them, protecting them from the Shadows. One was an elderly man with a sea blue waistcloth and a trident. Another was a muscular man with a rainbow feathered attire and a drum. Each of them turned to Derek and Yolei respectively. They each transformed into a sting ray mask and an indigenous tribal mask and attached themselves onto Derek and Yolei respectively. Both of them began hearing voices in their head when they wore the masks.
"I am Poseidon, the god of the seas," the elderly figure said. "To you who protect the sea as your own, I grant you my power. Call out the name of the one which you form a strong bond with, and turn the tide of battle to your favor!"
"I am Haokah, he who commands the wind and the thunder," the muscular figure said. "To you who finally chose to follow the beat of your own drum, I grant you my power. Call out the name of the one which you form a strong bond with, and may no storm cloud your judgement."
"Persona!" Derek and Yolei shouted.
Derek and Yolei ripped off their respective masks from their faces to unlock the powers sealed within. Derek was now wearing a sea green scaled cuirass and sea blue leggings and was carrying a trident. Yolei now donned a leather tunic, a feathered skirt, moccasins, and feathered arm wings and carried a tomahawk. With Derek and Yolei's powers unlocked, Crabmon and Hawkmon fell from the sky.
"Crabmon, it's really you," Derek said.
"Derek, it's good to see you," Crabmon said.
"Hawkmon, I missed you so much," Yolei said, hugging him.
"It is an honor to be here with you once again," Hawkmon replied.
"They have the same power as us," Mina said.
"Alright, now's our chance to turn this thing around," Michael stated.
"I'm ready to do anytime," Crabmon said.
"It would be an honor to fight alongside you once more," Hawkmon said.
"Alright, let's do this," Derek said.
"With you by my side, I know we will prevail," Yolei replied.
"Crabmon, Sun Arcana Digivolve to… Coelamon," Crabmon shouted.
"Hawkmon, Temperance Arcana Digivolve to… Aquilamon," Hawkmon shouted.
"Alright, you guys did it," Derek said.
"Now, let's take care of these monsters," Yolei replied.
"Fossil Bite," Coelamon shouted.
Coelamon jumped on the Bribed Fuzz and tore them part with its sharp claws and feet.
"Blast Rings," Aquilamon shouted.
Aquilamon fired ring-shaped beams at the Platinum Dice, exploding them in the process.
"Amazing," Mina said.
"Now, this is a backup we needed," Michael said.
"Let's keep this up," Yolei said.
"Got it," Derek replied.
Yolei and Mina threw their tomahawk and chakram respectively at the Ravens and Trance Twins, cutting several of them in the process. Derek and Michael used their trident and sword to pierce and slash the Bribed fuzz. As the Digimon and the Digidestined continued their counterattack, the Fused Digimon finally descended to confront them. It used its large sickle hands to cut the Aquilamon and Seadramon, but they dodged it. The Fused Digimon fired multiple fireballs at Meramon and Coelamon, but they parried those as well.
"Ice Blast," Seadramon shouted.
"Magma Blast," Meramon shouted.
"Water Brick," Coelamon shouted.
"Wind Breath," Aquilamon shouted.
The four Digimon fired an absolute zero beam, a large manga rock, a large water bullet, and a strong blast of wind at the Fused Digimon, Unable to withstand the attack, the Fused Digimon exploded, leaving nothing but a black gunk that slowly evaporated. Fearful of what had happened, the remaining Shadows retreated to the ground. Michael, Mina, Yolei, and Derek breathed a sigh of relief.
Back in the TV World, Beastmon used her eyes to try and turn the Digimon into stone; however, all of them moved out of the way before the beam touched them.
"Fire Tornado," Garudamon shouted.
Garudamon created a large tornado of fire, which spun Beastmon around, burning it in the process.
"Garuru Kick," WereGarurumon shouted.
While Beastmon was spinning around, WereGarurumon gave it a swift kick, sending it towards the sky.
"Rhino Charge," MegaKabuterimon shouted.
MegaKabuterimon flew to the sky and slammed Beastmon down with its large horn, sending Beastmon to the ground.
"Flower Wreath," Lilymon shouted.
Lilymon quickly wrapped Beastmon's body with numerous vines and flowers, pinning it to the ground.
"Now's your chance," Lilymon said.
"Alter Blade," MetalGreymon Alterous Mode shouted.
Creating an antimatter sword out of its particle cannon, MetalGreymon flew to the sky, swooped to the ground, and cleanly sliced Beastmon in two. Beastmon's face contorted as it slowly reverted itself to its original form, its snake-like form disintegrating. I quickly ran up to Beastmon as it was converting into data. Matt, Sora, Izzy, and Mimi followed suit.
"This wasn't as graceful of a defeat as I would have imagined," Beastmon said.
"You're going to tell us everything," I told it. "Who are you and Astamon working under, and why are you assisting that person?"
"I have no idea what you are talking about," Beastmon replied.
"Don't you lie to us," Matt told her.
"Astamon said you were working for some being," Izzy explained. "We want you to elaborate on that. What did Astamon mean when he said that?"
"Astamon said that," Beastmon said, surprised. "What is he, a fool? And here I thought I was the one who couldn't keep my mouth shut."
"Please get your point across," Sora said.
"Yeah, you need to repent for making Yolei, Derek, and the others go through that hospital scheme of yours," Mimi said.
"My scheme," Beastmon laughed. "That's only a drop in the ocean compared to what will happen to everyone else."
"Even more people are going to get caught up in this," Izzy questioned.
"Start explaining right now," Mimi said.
"I'll say this," Beastmon replied. "When you know that there is someone or something that is bigger than you, stronger than you, and beyond anything that you can possibly think about, instead of fighting it, it's better to serve it. It's just easier to go with the flow and listen to anything it says. That's what Astamon did. That's what I did. That's what we all did."
"There's more of you serving this being," Sora asked.
"How many more are there," Matt questioned.
"Whoops, I really do have a big mouth," Beastmon said. "It's fine. I'm about to disappear anyway."
"You can't go yet," I told it. "You left us more questions than answers."
"I appreciate your spunk," Beastmon said. "Had we met in different circumstances, maybe we could have been friends. I'll leave you with a warning: don't try to fight against it. It won't be worth your time, because you will never be strong enough to defeat it."
"That's what Astamon said," Izzy said.
"Just how powerful is this being," Sora questioned.
"Well, I can really use a catnap right now," Beastmon said.
"Hey, we're not done questioning you," Mimi said.
"Have fun fruitlessly fighting against it," Beastmon said. "You're only going to be met with disappointment."
"Wait, hold on," Matt said.
Before Matt could get a hold of her, Beastmon completely disintegrated, her data floating away towards the sky. A quiet, but tense air filled the area.
"How many people are serving this being," Izzy questioned.
"It's powerful enough to make Astamon and Beastmon serve it," Sora said.
"Are our efforts really fruitless," Mimi asked.
"I don't know what this being is or how strong it is," I said. "All I know is that it is making Digimon like Astamon and Beastmon involve innocent people into its plan. No matter who or what this puppet master is, it's our job to stop it, no matter how many alliances it has."
"Agreed," Matt said. "We've done what we can for now. We should probably head back outside and check if everything is okay there."
"Right, Izzy mentioned a spike of energy entering our world," Sora said.
"I hope everyone outside is okay," Mimi said.
"Izzy, do you think you'll be able to get us out of here," I asked.
"I can get us out of this building," Izzy said. "After that, I'm not sure."
"That's good enough for me," I replied. "We'll try and work together to see what we can do. Come on, guys; it's been a long week for all of us. Let's go home."
