Kagome woke to the warm feel of arms around her waist, soft touches from fingertips could be felt tracing small circles on her shoulder before soft lips accompanied the touch. "Mmm," she blinked a few times to adjust to the morning light that was shining in through the blinds. Her eyes glossy from her last night's dream. She stretched her arms over her head when she felt a chill run over her body. "Hm?" She glanced down and jumped in shock when she found a pair of gentle blue eyes staring back at her.
"Morning..."
His voice was soft, and his words warm to her ears. "Here I thought that was all just a dream..."
"..." Eiji sat up beside her and pulled her into his arms as he laid his back against the backboard of the bed, his pillow cushioning his back from the actual frame. "Nai, Kagome-Neko..."
"Hmm?" She laid her head against his shoulders and let her eyes drift shut as his fingers ran through her hair.
"It still hurts...will you be with me until the pain goes away? Will you stay with me until I can forget about him?"
Kagome's heart ached, but she gave a small, sad smile, "I'll stay with you until you are happy again...and longer after..."
"Sankyu..." He whispered softly into her ear.

Kagome finished making lunch in bulk, it was almost eleven o'clock, and she had to leave soon if she were to make it to the courts in time. "Mama...I'm heading out now."
"Hai, Kagome-Chan. Oh..." Rai peered around the corner of the wall and into the kitchen, "...Eiji...is he alright? He looked a little upset yesterday."
"Eiji is going through some inner turmoil right now, but I'll help him through it."
Rai smiled at her daughter, "I'm sure you will, you've always been ready to drop everything for Eiji if it meant keeping his spirits up and taking care of him. You are truly a good friend, Kagome...be good to him."
Kagome smiled, turning, her smile dropped as she grabbed the much too big bento and left without another word to her mother. She couldn't say anything anyways, she hadn't the right to. Where does it say that she is being a good friend, by sleeping with him, and for what purpose? Because he's hurting emotionally. She wasn't so naïve...she knew she was doing this out of her own selfish desire for Eiji. Her heart ached too. Not just his...hers too. The worst is, it had ached for so long, since he and Ooishi had become a pair romantically. She was always so jealous of the time Eiji spent with Ooishi, and of the kisses they shared, the warm hugs, and the gentle caresses, all of which Ooishi got to take part in with the boy who she'd been head over heels for since they met almost seven years ago. She knew him before Ooishi had, and still...the antenna boy won her best friend over.
Sighing, Kagome shut the front door behind her and continued along towards the tennis courts that she was meeting with Eiji and a few others at.
"Kagome-Sempai!"
Turning around, Kagome smiled, "Sakuno-Chan, where is Echizen-San?"
Sakuno, the young girl who was often found shadowing behind the prodigal Twelve year old, ran up to her and took her arm happily. "He's meeting up with Momo-Sempai, they left earlier."
Kagome smiled at the Bento the younger girl carried, "is that for Echizen-San?"
Blushing, Sakuno smiled, "I called Ryoma-Kun last night, and told him I was making a Bento, and he asked...if I was making one for him too."
Kagome stared in slight surprise at that. For Ryoma, that was a huge thing. He didn't really ask for things like that, he was more the 'go with the flow' type, not the type to push for something. "So are the two of you together?"
"...I don't know..." Sakuno sighed, "I can't get up the courage to ask him...and he hasn't made any indication that we are..."
Smiling, Kagome gave the girl a gentle pat on the head, "giving him some time. Echizen is pretty awkward as far as girls are concerned. Letting him work himself into it."
Sakuno nodded, bringing her free hand up to point ahead, she smiled, "I see the guys!" Sakuno released Kagome's arm before dashing forward towards Ryoma, Momo, Eiji, Tezuka and Shuusuke, the others seemingly weren't there yet.
Her eyes caught Eiji's and she watched him smile gently at her before walking up to her. "Need some help with that?" He asked, referring to the large bento that she held.
Kagome smiled, "that's fine, it has wheels...I just chose to carry it."
Tilting his head a bit, his eyes rested on her hands, taking his, he placed them on hers and gently pried her hands from the handle.
Kagome blushed at the contact made, this exchange of course did not go unnoticed. Go figure, the one person whose eyes were never open, saw everything. His closed eyes lingered on the altercation for a few moments before following the others to the court where they were already warming up. This left Eiji and Kagome to their own devices as they walked at a slower pace towards the courts.
"Kagome, I don't want you to feel awkward because of...anything that happened. If you don't want to-"
"Eiji...you know I love you...I loved you well before Ooishi-San even knew your name...I want to be there for you and I will be there for you, every step of the way."
Eiji smiled at her words and gave her a hug, nothing sexual or amorous, but appreciative and grateful. "Thank you."
Kagome smiled as he let her go and went on ahead to talk to the others. Had she been a few feet closer to Eiji, she may have heard his whispered words, "Kagome...I'm sorry...for anything that may come...I just know I'll somehow end up hurting you..."
