Summary/disclaimer: Time for another chapter of Goblin and the spider. Enjoy the 1200-word chapter. I don't own Spiderman, Marvel and Disney do.
Spider-Woman paused to look at Hobgoblin who sat on the roof as she perched atop a sign. The wannabe heroes' glider sat next to him, a sign that he wasn't going to run off and do something crazy or stupid.
"So, every thought about doing a lot as a superhero?" Hobgoblin questioned while he paused to look over the busy city streets. "I'm still getting the hang of things like this. I'd think it's easier if we weren't fighting people with guns." Hobgoblin said, brushing off his armor as he sighed and watched the cops slowly regain control over the masses of people below.
Spider-Woman crossed her arms, quite curious about how so many criminals could have organized so quickly. Someone or something had to be pulling their strings and she was interested in getting to the bottom of it.
Plus? It would make a killer story and she did want to protect New York. This was her home Afterall and she did care about it even if she didn't enjoy the lifestyle of being a superhero.
"That stuff looks a bit higher tech then you." Spider-Woman said, gaining a shrug from Hobgoblin.
"I only tinker with it here and there to try and get a better idea of how it works to begin with." Hobgoblin said while he slowly stood up. "Why? You'd think I'd steal from someone? I'm a lot of things, but NOT a crook. I put those in jail." Hobgoblin said, crossing his arms over his chest as he turned to Spider-Woman.
"Then mind telling me where you got it from?" Spider-Woman asked, producing a recorder from her suit. She brushed it off.
"I found it in a warehouse I was helping my dad move stuff from." Hobgoblin stated before sighing as he rubbed at his temples with a large amount of annoyance present in his voice. "Then some of those guys showed up, threatened to shoot us if we didn't give up this stuff. I didn't know WHY they wanted a bunch of crates, but I knew it had to be important." Hobgoblin said, sitting down once more with a noticeable slouch in his posture.
Spider-Woman went silent. She couldn't really work out if those robbers had anything to do with THESE robbers, but it was enough for her to work with if she got Peter involved at the moment.
"Hang here a minute, ok? I need to make a call." Spider-Woman said, gaining a thumbs up from Hobgoblin.
"I'll just wait here and check the fuel on this thing." Hobgoblin said, turning to his glider with interest. "You have NO idea how hard it is to refuel this bad boy." Hobgoblin said as Spider-Woman fired a web line and pulled herself out of sight.
The goblin themed superhero decided to tinker with the device. It was his only ride around town, after all.
(With Spider-Woman)
Spider-Woman landed on another rooftop. She turned to look back at Hobgoblin who was all too busy checking on his gear like he had just told her. She slowly pulled her phone from the Carnage symbiote, eager to tell her old friend about what came next. She dialed his number, curious about what her friend would think about these events.
"Pete?" Spider-Woman said, the symbiote grasping the phone in a tendril as she cracked her fingers.
"MJ?" She heard which caused a roll of the eyes from her at the moment. "What's new? I was just swinging around." Spider-Man stated as the new superhero shook her head.
"Well, me and Hobgoblin…" Spider-Woman started to say, her voice sounding somewhere between frustrated and amused.
"Wait, gobby is with you?" Spider-Man asked as Spider-Woman simply sighed.
"No, he just left, Pete." Spider-Woman joked, crossing her arms over her chest. "Yes, he is. He's been talking with me after we stopped a bunch of guys from ripping up the street here. I just don't know what they planned on doing." Spider-Woman stated, looking back at Hobgoblin who seemed to have finished his work.
There was a noticeable pause before Spider-Man continued his talk. He seemed to be thinking about what came next at the moment. She couldn't exactly blame him considering this new crime wave seemed to make her question just WHO was pulling the strings on this journey.
"Is he still there now?" Spider-Man questioned as his friend sighed and slowly looked back at her new ally. "MJ?" She heard over the phone.
"Yeah, me and him have been talking the entire time. I just don't understand what he's doing." Spider-Woman said before clicking her tongue against the roof of her mouth. "Tell them we're come to you guys, but don't do anything crazy, he's still trying to be a hero. I doubt he'd respond well to being put on the spot, Pete." Spider-Woman stated as she got a hum.
She closed the call as Hobgoblin slowly started to fly up, his glider letting out a soft hum as she hummed. It was then she noticed that he was waiting for her, eager to get moving a moment later once more.
"So, your uh ready to go, I'm guessing?" Hobgoblin questioned while brushing off his suit once more. "I need to refuel this thing and I was busy watching the cops. They seem like their ready to move on, seems like we really seemed to make a difference I think." Hobgoblin said, a small smirk seeming to transform his features.
"I need to think for a moment. We have somewhere I want you to follow." Spider-Woman said before Hobgoblin rubbed at his chin.
"How about a ride? It must cost a lot to travel around town." Hobgoblin questioned which seemed to amuse Spider-Woman who nodded.
She leapt forward, her feet finding purchase upon the device behind Hobgoblin. She pointed in a certain direction which got a nod as he gunned the machine, eager to put today behind him.
"So, you still didn't answer my question, you know." Hobgoblin said, patting his bag behind him. "Do you ever enjoy hero work like this? I haven't seen someone like you around here before. This city has been pretty quiet without Doc Ock and all of them trying to turn it into Hydra City and all that." Hobgoblin said while he shook his head with amusement slowly ebbing away from them.
He looked drained, as if the mere act of trying to keep his composure was annoying him. It wasn't like it didn't wear on him, fighting a war like this would drain anyone down to almost nothing at the moment.
Still? He had hero work to do, with or without help. He had help, but he was still worried.
Author Notes
Phew. Another chapter done! I want to point out that chapter after this will be delayed and such. Next chapter will be in 2-10 months and will show both Hobgoblin and Spider-Woman starting to bond more and meeting Spider-Man and such with all that. Next chapter will also be anywhere from 900-1500 words or such at the moment or such. Until then, hopefully.
