Hi everyone, sorry this is a little late. I recently discovered the show called "Outlander". It was so intriguing that I just had to see where it was going before I could start writing again. Never the less, the next chapter is here. I hope you will enjoy and review...
"Who?" The puzzlement could clearly be seen on the young boy's face.
"If he is another one of those wand waving Freaks-?!" Petunia started.
"Please excuse my Aunt, she's not a fan of Norse Mythology" said the teenage girl.
"No, I'm afraid you don't understand-" the Agent began to say, but was cut off. By both, the intense look Miss Potter was now giving and the warning she suddenly heard while the girl's lips weren't moving:
"Bad idea! Mentioning this any further here is a BAD Idea! You're talking "An American Doctor who just walked into a Nazi Camp stating they were looking for a Jewish child during World War 2 Level of Bad!" If you want to know more, please make up an excuse and take us with you" she practically begged.
Ms. Hill instantly took a step back and looked at the situation with new eyes. These children were being abused! At least the boy was, she could see the beginnings of a black eye starting to form. There was also evidence that his mouth and nose had been recently bleeding. She hoped it wasn't broken. "Wait here," she whispered before walking over to their "Aunt," …
And that was how the Potter siblings found themselves in the back of a long black sleek car on the way to the airport, Agent Hill was of course accompanying them. After some "persuasion," Harry had fallen asleep on his sister's shoulder.
"I don't think he should be sleeping; he might have a concussion" remarked Hill.
Lucy sighed, "He'll be alright for a minute, I figure I ought to tell you this before he wakes"
The Agent instantly became alert. "Go on,"
"I don't know "Loki" personally, I know of him. The reason, Harry and I probably popped up on your radar is because we're blood relatives of "his." My brother is ignorant of this fact as he was only a baby when our parents were killed and only recently within the past year learned the truth of their demise. We haven't really gotten into "Family History" as it is still a sensitive subject all around. He is likely not to tell you much because he doesn't know. I just could not leave him with them. It would've gotten worse, so "Thank you" for doing what you did"
Agent Hill nodded, the reason Director Fury told her to investigate them is because when Loki had arrived/attacked their base where they were studying the Tesseract. The "God" had been wounded in the line of fire, however so slightly and left behind a few droplets of blood their staff found and analogized, attempted to track until ultimately pointing to three vibrant dots on the globe. Two in England and one headed towards Germany. So, if the two kids were here-?
Immediately Agent Hill took out her cellphone and dialed Fury, giving a brief summary of what she'd discovered and where Loki was headed. Intrigued while giving orders to the others, the Director demanded the siblings be brought aboard the Helicarrier.
"Yes Sir," said Agent Hill hanging up to be met with a disgusted look from Lucy. "What?"
"This is something I want to be made clear. My brother and I will cooperate, because you saved us. But we are not bait for Loki. After the life I've had to live these past eleven years, I'd rather drink arsenic then be another chess piece in another warped, frustrated old man's game. The boy next to me is probably the only reason I haven't done it earlier, for I swore on my dead mother's body that I would look after him. Understand?"
The cold absolution in the girl's words shook Agent Maria Hill to her core. What exactly had these kids been through?! She had made a note to look into the Dursleys earlier, after this "Loki" situation was hopefully taken care of, she knew she would investigate further.
"Rest assured, you will be our guests, not prisoners. As for the "Bait" comment, I will speak to Director Fury myself. He's not what you think"
"Can we have your word on that? Where we're from a person is only as good as their word, but sometimes even then they find loopholes"
Agent Hill rubbed the back of her neck, this girl did not trust easily and was no fool. "You have my word that I will do my best"
"That's all I can ask," said Lucy slowly, confirming the Agent right in her assessment.
...
Meeting the so called "Director" was interesting. His name actually was "Fury" Nicholas Joseph Fury.
"So, you're Loki's relatives? Actual blood relations?" said The African American, looking them over hard with his one good eye while the other side supported a black eye patch. Lucy inwardly winced, was "Loki" responsible for that?
"What? Whoa!" said Harry, slightly losing his balance for a second as the large "flying" air craft they were in, experienced turbulence.
"First time flying Kid?" asked Fury, after he had grabbed his shoulder, steadying him. "Like this," the boy nodded.
"We don't get out much, and mostly travel by train," his sister explained, "And to answer your previous question: Yes, we are family"
"What?" repeated Harry, now more confused and squinting because his own eyes still hurt from the swelling.
"Do you have a doctor onboard?" the teen quickly asked.
"Yes…we do" confirmed the Director,
"Could you please have them look at my brother? He's really hurt"
"What? No! I-!"
"Harry, this is not the time nor the place to have this long story. I swear on Hedwig's wings and delivery service that I will tell you when we are next alone. I know I'm asking the impossible but. DO NOT go looking for answers by yourself on this ship. This is NOT Hog-SCHOOL. I beg of you."
Harry would never admit it out loud, but hearing the urgency in his sister's voice scared him. Sending a slight shiver down his spine. "I promise I will wait for you"
"Thank You," Lucy breathed exasperated. Not noticing Nick Fury pushing a button behind them until a familiar voice came over the intercom.
"Yes, Sir"
"Agent Hill, could you please come in an escort Mr. Potter down to the medical station? Miss Potter and I need to have a talk"
"Yes Sir," Instantly the Agent came in and took her brother out of the room. It wasn't until he had left her sight, that Lucy let out a ragged breath.
"You are not alright with this, are you?"
"What was your first clue?" she countered turning around to face him.
"You practically had a panic attack when speaking to your brother just now. This is not something I would expect from a child of Loki."
"And I suppose you know everything there is to know?"
"Not everything apparently," said the Director, coming to sit on the edge of his front desk. The teen took another shaky breath as she attempted to calm herself.
"The only way I can see this working is if we're honest about with each other-"
"Honest? Again, not what I expected to hear"
Lucy gritted her teeth, gathering wits about her. "Okay…I've had enough of this ring around the rosy and let's face it: Both our people have ugly histories and superstitions. We do not need to talk about them. Let us be civil and move on."
The Director's face changed to one of mixed of anger and astonishment. "You think-?"
"Do unto others as you would have them do unto you" she answered, waiting to see what he'd do. It was Nick Fury's turn to take a deep breath, hanging his head and closing his eye while he did so.
"I am sorry," he said a moment later, "I meant no disrespect. You're just… not what I expected"
"Don't judge a book by it's cover, but I may be able to help you. If you tell me what you know and then I do the same"
"Alright," said the Director, now taking a chance. Lucy listened in horror at what he was describing.
"So, wait a minute! Loki is here. BACK, after all this time…" She shook her head, trying to make sense of it.
"Back? You mean he's been here before?" asked Fury.
Lucy raised an eyebrow, "Of course, surely you don't think we came from Asgard? My brother and I were both born and bred on this Earth. Only seeing Outer Space from picture books, much less, other worlds" Unless you consider the "Wizarding World" but even that's still on this planet, she thought to herself.
"How? And when did this happen? My team didn't encounter him before and there is no record of a disturbance of his magnitude anywhere else in the world?"
"That's because last time, there wasn't a big production with "his" arrival. Loki didn't come to wager war and "rule". Loki came in search or something else, something much more…Human"
"And what was that?" questioned Fury, now intrigued.
"A fresh start with a home and a real Family, one he could actually share blood with. People like him.
Odin and Frigga liked to deceive themselves thinking that if Loki never knew the truth of his adoption. He wouldn't feel different. Only Frigga loved and raised him the same if not a little more than her biological son as they had a closer bond because of the magic they wielded. But it wasn't enough, so thirty to thirty-one years ago. Loki ran away from Asgard. Ultimately coming here and for a time Loki got what "he" was after, married and with a couple children but it wasn't to last, for our family was attacked and murdered at home. I don't think Loki even knows we survived" she whispered the last part, but Fury heard.
"So, it's safe to assume that part of the reason he's doing this is vengeance?"
"I don't know, maybe" "How long ago was the "attack"?"
"Eleven years, this Halloween"
Fury let out a low whistle, "That's a long time to wait"
"To be honest Mr. Director, I think maybe Odin did something to his mind, repressed memories perhaps? The All "Father" is capable of doing that."
Nick raised a curious eyebrow at the sound of distain coming from her voice. "You don't like him, Odin?"
"No, I don't. He stole my mother's dead body, among other things"
"WHAT?" Fury's eye looked about ready to pop out of his head, like a cartoon character.
"It's true, I witnessed it, having finally freed myself from the fallen debris along with my brother. But he was a mere baby at the time, standing and crying in his crib. One traumatic experience after another…" she sighed,
"How old were you?"
"Six, but I've clung the memories of what happened that night and the events leading up to it. Giving me the courage to go on and a purpose in my little brother. He needed me"
Nick Fury nodded in response, beginning to see the truth of what he was actually dealing with.
"And how old are you now?"
"I just turned seventeen and am already starting to work on a plan to establish myself within the year, so when I move out, I can take custody of Harry"
"Agent Hill said that you were having problems with-"
"Unlike some others, I believe it takes more than DNA to make up a family. They've never treated us like it, since we arrived. Just scape goats to blame when things go wrong because we were born with a "condition" that couldn't be controlled until we were older and given the tools and knowledge of how. People who hate what they fear because we weren't "Perfectly normal."
Fury scoffed, "Nobody considers themselves "perfectly normal" as you call it, without having something to hide"
"And that something is and was my mother, her own sister and us"
"But surely they knew what they were getting into when they agreed to take you?"
"Agreed?! No. Neither party had any choice in the matter. I'll give them that. Our "social worker" just came and left us, asleep (well for me it was "drug" induced) on their doorstep during the night at the beginning of November. Eventually being woken up by "Aunt" Petunia's screams"
"Your social worker abandoned you?"
"More than that. As the abuse started and increased, the more I picked up Harry and left. I ran away at least… fifteen times? And… every… single… time. He kept finding and returning us. Never listening. Even when I was sitting right there with a black eye and a broken wrist and my baby brother having a first degree burn on his hand that he got as punishment for burning the breakfast. They seriously ordered a four-year -old to mind the stove!
Our social worker… if he didn't see it, he didn't believe it. Kept spouting on and on about the Dursleys are our family and they "love" us. I didn't believe any of that until he finally gave me a "solid" enough reason as to why we had to stay. Apparently living with them protected us from the followers of our parents' murderer" Lucy explained, deciding not to go into the past war which could lead to the Muggle's discovery of the "Wizarding" world. Though this "American" organization already had some secrets of his own.
All was quiet for several minutes as Nick Fury paced. This was definitely not what he'd expected when he instructed Agent Hill to bring them on board. Thinking they'd found a bargaining chip, instead S.H.I.E.L.D had actually rescued two abused children whose cries for help were ignored until now…
"What is your name again?"
"Lucy, Lucinda Prince Potter"
"Prince?"
"My paternal grandmother's maiden name. She's not longer alive, she died when my biological father was a teenager"
"Your biological father?"
"Harry is technically my half-brother. We have the same Mom and my Stepfather gave me his name. The man I received my life's blood from didn't know I existed until this last year when I attended a new school that had him working there as a Teacher. We both know the truth now but he can't take us because the second job he has on the side is pretty risky, like "life on the line."
The Director nodded, "And what's his name and the name of your "social worker" along with the service he is apart of?" Lucy took a deep breath, this was it.
"Can you help us?"
"Maybe, but I need that information in order to do so"
"My father's name is Severus Tobias Snape" she said, knowing that somewhere in the system there would be a record of him, both her parents actually, for they were born at hospitals in the Muggle World. "As for the" social worker," he might be harder to track down. He's more of a Freelancer who automatically took charge and ignored our parent's will, that he was even witnessed to"
"I see," said Fury, not like this new piece of information. "And his name?"
"It's a long and strange one but it is what he's known as" she warned before continuing. "His full name is Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore"
"You have got to be kidding,"
"I wish I was but it is: Albus Dumbledore. I admit it's not a name heard out of certain circles but he is very popular in them"
Nick fury slowly nodded once again. It wasn't unheard of for some people to go by pseudonyms, especially if they were involved in a Cult or some other kind of Dirty Operation which is what it was starting to sound like from what Lucy was describing.
"Rest Assured, we will take care of you and your brother to the best of our ability" He promised, eyeing the girl and seeing that was still something wrong as she slightly winced. "Your brother was sent to the medical station, having a Doctor look at him. Do you need to pay a visit there as well? Are you hurt?"
"I-!"
"Director!" came another woman's accented voice over the intercom.
"Wait right there," said Fury to Lucy as he walked over and pushed the button "Yes, Agent Romanoff"
"We've got him…"
