Sorry this is a little later than I imagined. Please Enjoy and review...
"As I was saying," said Lucy. "Professor Snape arrived at our home too late. He went up the stairs into the nursery and found Mum's lifeless body lying on the floor in front of your crib. He never made any notice of you, too consumed with grief. He just sat on the ground with her body in his arms, crying-"
"That doesn't sound like him," her brother interrupted.
"You keep forgetting Harry, that Professor Severus Tobias Snape while yes, a Wizard. He is also in fact: Human. A being capable of thoughts and feelings, just like you. He just has a hard time showing it, at least the positive ones. He was an abused child Harry, only it was his Father instead of his Uncle who beat him, among other things. His mother and our mother were the only ones that were kind and loving towards him. And they both died. Now, I'm not trying to excuse everything he's done or will ever do. I'm just saying there's more to the story than meets the eye. He wasn't born mean or nasty. It's a learned behavior, and James Potter did not help things by bullying him for being different."
"What?"
"Dad…. Bullied…him. Now you remember, what it was like when Dudley and his gang use to play "Harry Hunting"? Despite my best efforts to stop them. That's sort of what it was like for young Snape, attending Hogwarts. And you, my dear brother, through no fault of your own are practically a copy of James" she told him bluntly, causing Harry's eyes to widen before closing and digesting all of this.
"No wonder Snape hates me. Why didn't you tell me all this before?"
"Would you have believed me? And besides, knowing Ron Weasley… Your friend isn't exactly tactful and neither Snape or I want our true relation to be public knowledge"
"He wouldn't tell-"
"Are you willing to bet on that? As it stands, the only way I would trust him or Hermione with this is if they each swore a magical oath of secrecy"
Silence settled over them, then Lucy cleared her throat. "He left not long after and I pulled myself free. I ran over and laid down next to Mum, tried to curl up under her arm against her chest like I always did when I was upset and scared. But this time there was no comforting gestures, no heartbeat, much less warm breath and strands of red auburn hair that tickled my ear. Just cold, stiff, emptiness…"
What his sister was describing sent an involuntary chill down Harry's spine. For once he was glad not to remember everything that happened. The green flashing light and high pitch screaming/crazy laughter that haunted his dreams on occasion was enough.
"You started crying," she continued, "and just as I looked over at you, something strange started happening. A bright light that wasn't the moon engulfed the Nursery. The wind picked up as the light turned rainbow colors, leaving some sort of large strange ancient rune branded circle on the already ruined carpet. But what shocked me the most was that you and I were no longer alone.
Two new figures now stood in the center. One male and one female, resembling a middle age human couple. At least I think they were middle aged? The man had a short all white beard, was dressed in ancient battle armor with a golden eye patch hanging over one of his eyes, holding a large scepter or staff. His expression was stoic or serious compared to the long haired jeweled dressed woman who wore one of horror and heartbreak as she looked around franticly before spotting Mum.
"Loki!" she gasped running over, and falling on her knees in front of us. As she reached out to touch Mum's face, you reached through the bars of the crib grabbing a piece of her hair. Making her take notice of you. "Oh Harry," she had sighed with relief, giving a watery smile as she stood and picked you up before sitting on the floor again, all the while rocking and soothing your hiccups, chanting softly "It will be alright, Grandmother is here, Grandmother is here. But where is your sister?" she asked a moment later. Nervously I popped my head up from my hiding spot.
"There you are Lucy," she continued to smile gently, this time in my direction. "You can come out, there is no need to be afraid"
"Frigga," addressed the man, now standing over her. "Let us return to the problem at hand,"
"The problem at hand?" questioned Harry, "What does that mean?"
"Mum. Apparently, she wasn't a reincarnation of "Loki" but was in fact: him"
"But how could that be? Mum was a "She" and she gave birth to us?"
"Talented Shapeshifter, remember? And that includes working female parts as well"
Harry shook his head, trying to make sense of it. "So, it was all an Act then? Her pretending to remember Loki's past?"
"So it would seem but no. Somehow? Someway? Some reason, when our mother took this form, she obliviated or erased her memories of being Loki. Maybe to better fit in? I don't know but that much is fact. Odin for that was the "Man's" name, confirmed it as he magically scanned the body before beginning to wave his scepter and chant in a strange language.
A golden shimmering light started to engulf our mother and she began to change form until everything that resembled physically female was gone and a black-haired man laid in her place.
"Mum?" I remember questioning before getting excited at seeing the repeated now rising and falling of his chest. Odin had indeed changed Mum, but he had also brought her back to life-"
"Really?!" exclaimed Harry now getting excited "And that's why S.H.E.I.L.D found us? They're trying to reunite us with Mum! Where has she been all this time? And why didn't Dumbledore-?"
"Wait a minute Harry, the story is not quite finished" Lucy warned somberly, causing her brother's mood to dampen. "I take no pleasure in telling you this, but you wanted the truth. Is that still the case?"
"Yes Lucy, I want to know"
She nodded, "As opened my mouth to thank him. Odin suddenly spoke, "One problem solved…One yet to be rectified. What to do with the Monstrous Spawn? Everywhere my son goes he continues to cause destruction, chaos, mischief and gives me beastly grandchildren. Though how long he managed to hide this time is a wonderment. Plenty of time to get to the bottom of this when we get home-"
"Mum's not going anywhere with you!" I remember shouting, going over and grabbing Mum's arm while facing him straight ahead. "What's the matter with you?! Mum's a Grown Up! She or He has been making her own choices for a long time! She even makes them for me!"
The look on his face was bright red in anger, "How dare you talk back to me?! You little-?!"
He raised his hand to strike, only for it come down hard on Frigga's shoulder. Our supposed "Grandmother" had thrown herself in front of him to protect me, shocking Odin.
"Frigga? Get out of the way"
"No,"
"Frigga! I said-!"
"And I say "No! I will not allow you to mistreat a child! Let alone Loki's child! Or did you lie to me, Husband? When you said he's OUR son?"
That caused him rock back on his heels, "Frigga, what has gotten into you? You know what the Prophesy states-!"
"These two are innocent! They are not a part of Ragnarök! This is Midgard! They were born here and each have a Seidr Midgardian Father. Furthermore, Loki gave his life for them. Don't tell me you cannot feel the sacrificial magic still lingering? You cannot physically touch them without harming yourself. Intent is everything."
"What would you have me do? This cannot go unanswered for or unpunished"
"Then spare them and punish me. For I, Frigga, Queen of Asgard, stand before you Odin Borson, the All father. Ready to pledge my life on behalf of my son Loki's children: Harry and Lucy Potter, like I should have done all those centuries ago with the others. His loving sacrifice tonight showed me that, may I be better at it in future"
"Frigga,"
"No, I am tired of letting Fear and Superstition rule our lives. So, I'm taking back my part in this" she told him firmly.
He took a moment and studied her, "You mean it"
The queen chose her next words carefully, "Yes, though I do have to ask: If it was Thor and his children? Would we even be having this discussion?"
The King was silent, she sighed.
"I thought so. Odin, I have always known you to have Favorites. Whether it's Mistresses, Bastard Offspring wandering about the palace, even your "chosen" Successor. In all that time, I've never said anything until now. When it comes to my children, be they blood or adopted. You do not get to play with my heart" she confirmed, turning her back to him.
"Frigga…. Fine" said Odin in a frustrated tone. Whether he was angry at getting caught outright or ashamed of what he'd done, I do not know.
"I will leave the children be, but we are taking Loki. He's got a lot to answer for"
"No!" I cried, as Frigga handed you back over to me. "You need two hands; you can't hold on to both" referring to my grip on mum's arm. "You need to let go"
"Thief! I shouted, as Odin wrenched Mum's still unconscious manly form from my grasp.
"You cannot steal what is already yours" he stated, creating and leaving behind a fake body identical to Mum's female form for the others to find before he and Frigga vanished back into the rainbow lights, taking Mum with them. Never to be seen since…"
"They stole Mum?"
Lucy nodded solemnly, "Yes though I believe the blame solely lies on Odin. If it was just Frigga, I am sure she would have left Mum with us. Then again, maybe it wasn't such a good idea if what Director Fury told me is true"
"What do you mean?" her brother repeated his question from earlier and that was how Lucy found herself rehashing what S.H.I.E.L.D had said. "So, Mum's now another bad guy trying to take over the world? And you think it's revenge for what happened to us?"
"I don't know Harry. But there is a reason why you don't use magic resurrect the Dead. Not only is it considered dark magic, but the person always comes back different. Light Wizards like "Dumbledore" believe such a spell doesn't exist. I wouldn't either if I hadn't witnessed what Odin did. And who knows? Our mother may or may not remember us but blood never lies. I just ask you to be strong until we find the answers, Deal?" She said, holding her hand out to him which he shook.
Then asked, "Hey what do you suppose is going on there?" taking notice of the group of muggles that now occupied the area as well.
"Merlin's beard," Lucy groaned, she'd forgotten that the Soundproof Shield worked two ways. Deciding to take a chance of quickly taking the shield down, while their attention was elsewhere. She took out her wand… "It worked, Uh Oh!"
"What?!" asked Harry.
"Please keep your voice down." His sister commented, "The reason that they didn't notice us is because those muggles have found themselves a magical artifact!"
"Are you sure?"
"Positive, I can tell by the magical energy surrounding it, and it's familiar?" she said, straining her neck to get a closer look.
...
While Tony and most of the others continued to discuss the kids' silent conversation and the possibilities of "Magic."
Captain Steven Rogers quietly returned to his meal, his thoughts returning to the mysterious suitcase at his feet that he'd found in the middle of the square when they were confronting Loki. Actually it had crash landed beside him. With all the chaos of the scattering crowd, he hadn't time to find the owner. Steven had hoped that he could find some form of identification on or inside.
The problem was, it wouldn't open nor could he make out the strange engraved symbols around the handle and the locks. Plus, every time he brought his hand over it, he could feel some sort of electric current? It was powerful, he knew that. The Captain wondered if it wasn't connected to Loki or the Tesseract.
"What'cha got there, Capsicle?" Tony Stark's voice broke through his silent wonderings, not realizing that he'd picked up and caressed the suitcase this entire time.
"Something I found on the streets in Germany during the Loki riot. I'm hoping to find its owner. Trouble is, I can't get it open"
"Let me see," said Stark, snapping his fingers as the case was shoved across the table at him. "Fascinating," remarked the tech billionaire as he instantly felt the energy surrounding it, beginning to investigate.
"Mr. Stark, should we even be doing this? This is energy is not Gamma radiation but it still could be very dangerous" Bruce Banner, warned after having felt it for himself.
"I don't think it's the Tesseract," stated Agent Natasha Romanoff, having memorized the images and the paperwork done on it in their file.
"Maybe not, but I've never felt this kind of energy before. And that bares looking into" answered Tony, now both equally fascinated and frustrated with his new project.
Thor in the meantime, just laughed, having cleared his plate. "That "energy" my Friends is "Magic" or at least a variation of it. Midgardian Magic, I guess differs slightly then Asgardian, it's there but not as potent."
"You're saying that this is Real magic?" questioned the Black widow, raising an eyebrow.
"Yes," Thor nodded, "And like I told Lady Jane Foster, where I come from: Magic and Science are one and the same. Every world just has their own version of it. You are also right, Lady Natasha. This item is not connected to the Tesseract. It belongs to a Lady Midgardian Seidr"
"How do you know that?"
"I was born with magic coursing through my veins, it enables me to tell another's signature among other things."
"So, you're a witch or "Seidr" too then?" asked Banner.
Thor shook his head, "Learning the Magical Arts is mostly considered to be Women's work. Asgardian Men are brought up being taught the Art of the Warrior. And while he is good with the blade, my brother prefers the Magic Arts."
"Well, that explains a lot, wait…What is that sound?"
"It's coming from…the case?"
"It sounds like…music?"
"Just what we need: a magical musical suitcase that I can't open!" said Stark, straining his fingers, trying to pry the top despite the energy current circulating.
Once again, the "God of Thunder" laughed, "My friends, you're making a big commotion out of nothing, the instructions clearly say "I open at the Knock" he gestured to the symbols.
"What kind of language is this?"
"Ancient Runes," answered Lucy, walking over with Harry following before stopping short and crossing her arms. "You're not supposed to have that,"
"And ah, who are you?"
"Somebody who knows that item can be dangerous in the wrong hands, like a small child playing with a loaded pistol"
At her words, the Soldier and Scientist stiffened and the Spy took a step back. Only Tony Stark remained in the same position, defiant. "Nice try Sabrina, the teenage witch. I'm not a fan of the Superstitious nonsense. Let's see…Point Break said to "knock?"
"Don't-!" Lucy warned, just as his knuckles met the hard leather. "Too late," she sighed,
The top popped open letting a Thunder, Lightning and Rainstorm loose as two critters emerged: A Snowy owl and a small capuchin monkey whose top paws clung to the bird's feet.
"Hedwig?"
The owl shrieked and flew to her master, preparing to perch on him if only the monkey would let go but she couldn't shake it.
"Midnight!" called Lucy, holding her hands and arms out to catch the creature, which she gladly accepted. Swing jumping and landing on her friend's chest with fury arms locked around her neck. Glad to be rid of the strong clinging overgrown pest, Hedwig finally perched on Harry with a satisfied hoot.
"What are you doing here?" At the question, the monkey raised her head and gave a scolding screech with her right paw mimicking the human hand gesture of the pointing index finger. "Right, stupid question" Midnight huffed in agreement.
"Can somebody please help me shut this thing?!" shouted a drenched Tony Stark, trying to avoid the lightning.
"Immobulus!" shouted out a new voice amongst the thunder, causing the billionaire to literally freeze in place in the midst of the storm…..
