Tuffnut was the first to get out of their saddle. Barf's head was to the ground to allow me to get off, but my legs were still shaking I didn't know if I could stand or not.

"Enya, you can g-" Tuffnut began but the side look I gave him quickly made him shut his mouth. He held up his hands in defeat and walked over to a log that was next to the small pond in the ravine. After a few minutes I got out of the saddle myself and walked over to him with my arms crossed. He looked me in the eye at first before quickly avoiding them and looking at everything but me. I looked at him before letting out a long sigh and walking away.

"You know Tuffnut," I began, starting to walk around. "You amaze me in so many ways." Tuffnut lifted his head towards me and started watching me pace. "You can be given one, simple, easy task. You could be asked to put fish in a barrel. Not even fish, you could be told to put one fish in a barrel. A minnow. A small, little minnow in a barrel. And yet, somehow, the barrel gets blown up." As I continued to walk around, a smile started to form and even a little laughter started to come out. "You can be given a completely plain, normal day. A calm, quiet day. No work needs to be done. Everyone can stay home and relax. Stoick tells you…specifically, 'stay home, sleep all day!' And yet, one minute later, there's explosion right in the middle of town."

"Are you done going insane?" Tuffnut asked in a bored tone, standing up and walking over to me.

"I don't know yet." I replied. "I just…I just find it amazing. You've been given so many tasks. So many tasks most people would finish in 3 minutes. But… you always do something that no one else would even think to do. I asked for flying lessons. I asked to go flying, teach me to fly, maybe find a dragon of my own. Fishlegs taught be basics, Astrid taught me dodging and takedowns. You take me night flying. I'm thinking 'Hey, navigating at night, learning to fly at night, trust my dragon to guide me, fantastic idea!' But instead, I end up knocking on Odin's door, dropped out of the sky, dunked into the ocean, twirled around, AND SCREAMING UNTIL I WENT DEAF!" At this point I was extremely close to his face, still with the smile stuck on my face while his face was beginning to twist int anger. "I just don't understand, why…why are you the way YOU ARE!"

"Because you're the way you are!" Tuffnut screamed, walking away from me. Immediately I felt my face drop and my heart nearly stop.

"What are you talking about?!" I yelled back, feeling my face heat up.

"I'm talking about the way your voice gets higher when you're happy, I'm talking about that dumb laugh you do after you finally get a joke, I'm talking about that stupid eyeroll you do whenever I say something stupid, I'm talking about that silly smile you have whenever someone likes your drawings, I'm talking about that ridiculous nose-twitch thing you do whenever Astrid cooks something, I'm talking about the dumb fact I like you and I don't know why!" he yelled back louder, throwing a branch and causing Barf and Belch to chase after it.

That made me feel a ringing in my eyes and a million different thoughts run through my head, none of them staying more than a second. "Tuff…likes me? Tuffnut…why? How? He…." Even with all those thoughts running through my head and hundreds of different things I wanted to say, only one work came out. "What?"

"You make me feel more brainless than what I already am. I never know what to say and when I do, you've already left with your brother, or Astrid, or someone else." Tuffnut started pacing around and kicking whatever he could find and ignoring Barf with the branch in his mouth. "You get mad I'm reckless, but it's the only thing that keeps you around. You yell but that's the only way I get your attention. But no matter how many things I blow up, you're still be Stoick the Vast's daughter and Hiccup the Dragon Conqueror's sister. You can have anything and anyone you wanted. I'm…I'm just Tuffnut, village idiot number 2."

I started to feel something weird in my chest before it moved down to my stomach and up to my head. I started to see things about Tuff I had no idea about. His crooked smile that always seems plastered on his face, the way he cares for his sister even if he won't admit it, the way he tries to crack jokes in serious times to give people a laugh…all the times he's made me laugh when I didn't want to. Before I knew what was happening, my feet started to move for me, and I was walking closer and closer to him. My arms seemed to do the same, wrapping themselves around Tuffnut before laying my head on his shoulder.

"Uh…what are you doing?" Tuffnut asked in a very uncertain voice.

"You're not the village idiot." I felt Tuffnut slowly raise up his arms before wrapping them around me. He started hugging me a lot tighter and I returned the gesture. His smell that made me sick when we were younger suddenly didn't seem to bother me at all, I actually almost enjoyed it. Eventually, I pulled my head away from his shoulder and looked him in the eye, which now seemed a lot brighter and sharper than I remember them. I couldn't stop a smile from appearing and I quickly took my arms off him before seeing the same smile on Tuffnut's face.

"Tuffnut, you're not the village idiot." I repeated. "If anyone is, it's me."

"You?" Tuffnut raised his eyebrow. "I didn't know Ruffnut had competition."

I smiled and shook my head. "You're not exactly the best at hiding it, but just like hearing another of your explosions, I didn't want to notice it. Just like I didn't notice I like you too."

This caused Tuffnut's face to go completely red and I could tell he started getting the same thoughts I had, only he didn't say anything.

"Tuffnut," I began, rubbing the back of my neck "I know I'm sarcastic and a smartass. But no matter what I said you always came right back with a smile and a laugh and started it all over again, but I actually started to like it. I didn't know why you did it before, mostly because I never asked or cared to ask, but now I do know why and, I'm sorry for what I've said in the past."

This caused Tuffnut to start laughing, falling over from his laughter. "You think I didn't like being yelled at? That's how I got your attention and seeing your face scrunch up. I loved seeing it, next to getting your interest that was the icing on the cake. I don't know why you're sorry, I knew what would happen and enjoyed it."

This put another smile on my face before I playfully pushed down on Tuff's helmet, making him chuckle more.

"Well…you know we can't stay here all night." I said running my fingers through my hair.

"Why not?" Tuff said, raising an eyebrow

"One of our fathers won't be too happy being woken up by two dragons knocking over everything to see who's coming in the house this late at night."

Tuffnut shrugged at this statement. "Not like I haven't come in this late before."

I couldn't help but roll my eyes before quickly stopping myself and looking back at Tuff. "What? Because I pointed it out, you're not gonna do your eyeroll anymore?" This put the smile from before back on my face before giving Tuffnut a quick punch to the shoulder. "Let's go Tuffnut."

Both of us went to sit in the saddles but neither one of us seemed to want to. "Hey Tuff?" I asked and he looked over at me. "You know, when I 'stole' Barf and Belch, I rode on their back and they still seemed to fly pretty well." I walked over and climbed onto the dragon's back where I sat the first time and held out my hand to help lift Tuffnut up.

"This is a weird feeling." He said, moving himself back and forth, trying to find a comfortable spot to sit. "You have no idea." I muttered, still having the weird feeling in my stomach from earlier. Once he finally found a spot worth sitting in, Barf and Belch took to the sky, this time going a lot slower than earlier.

While we flew, I layed down on my back and watched the sky above. "So," Tuffnut said, laying down next to me and putting his hands behind his head. "I know I messed this training up, but do you want to have another flying lesson tomorrow night?"

I took my eyes away from watching the moon above us and gave Tuffnut a smile. "I'd like that." I replied, reaching over to grab one of his hands and and intertwining my fingers with his before moving a little closer to him. "Wear something nice."

We landed in front of my house first and Tuffnut helped me down off Barf and Belch. "Hey Enya," Tuffnut said, pulling my arm before I reached the door. "I've been meaning to give this back to you." He reached into his vest and pulled out a crumpled-up piece of paper. I scrunched my eyebrows together while opening it back up. But the more I did, I started noticing the familiar lines and smudges before realizing it was a drawing of Tuffnut. "I found it in the academy after I knocked you over, wanted to make sure you found all your drawings before Barf and Belch set it on fire."

I looked at him before looking down at the drawing and back to him. "Keep it," I took hold of Tuffnut's hand and put the drawing in it. "A gift from me to you." Tuffnut smiled at me before putting the drawing back in his vest and taking my hand again.

"Well…good night." He said before starting to walk towards his house. I tightened by grip on his hand and pulled him back to me. "You can keep this too." I took my hand out of his before grabbing onto the bunches of hair hanging over his shoulders and pulled his lips to mine. He was hesitant at first, but then he put his arms around my waist and pulled me in closer. I felt him smile under the kiss and I moved my arms around his shoulders.

Suddenly I felt him pull away and push me away. "Good morning chief!" he yelled and I looked to my right to see my dad standing in the doorway.

"Good night, Tuffnut." He said, looking down at us. Tuffnut immediately took the cue and ran back towards his house. I watched him run until he was out of sight before turning to look at Stoick. There was silence between us before he let out a sigh and made way for me to come into the house. "Good night Enya, sleep well." I slowly walked into the house and saw Toothless eagerly waiting for me. I turned back to look at my dad who was still in the doorway. "Good night, dad..." I said before climbing up the stairs to go to bed.
