The next morning, I stayed in bed for a few minutes after waking up to see if I could hear any movement from downstairs, specifically listening for my dad. I knew after coming home late last night and him seeing me kissing Tuffnut, there was no doubt he'd have a few things to say and I wasn't ready for that conversation yet. However, after staying in bed and only hearing the sounds of dragons and the ocean outside my window, I decided it was safe for me to get out of bed and get ready to make my way to the Great Hall. While getting ready I was still pretty quiet so I could listen for any signs of him or Hiccup walking through the door before I could leave. Eventually, I was completely dressed and went downstairs to leave the house.
While I was walking towards the Great Hall, I had a feeling in the back of my mind everyone was looking at me, even though I never had this feeling before and everyone I passed appeared to be doing their usual tasks.
"Enya!" I heard someone to my right yell and when I looked, I saw Gobber waving at me from his forge. Or, at least his version of waving. He has his only hand hanging by his side and waved his detachable limb (this morning it was a forge hammer) in the air.
"Morning Gobber!" I yelled back before walking over to him. "Whatcha making today?"
"Just the usual," He said before tossing a sword into a bucket of water to cool it. "Some knuts, bolts, a special order from Stoick for a chastity belt for you." Immediately I felt my face go red and my lips go thin, earning a laugh from Gobber and a ruffle to my hair. "I'm just kidding Enya. I did hear about your little late-night visitor though."
I let out a sigh, feeling my face still burning. "What was dad like this morning?"
"Stoic." Gobber replied simply and I smiled at his joke. "Didn't have much to say about anything. You or Tuffnut."
"Probably saving it all for when he sees me." I mumbled, crossing my arms.
"I wouldn't worry Enya," he said, walking over to start working on a shield. "He didn't say anything about your brother and Astrid."
"He likes Astrid a lot more than Tuffnut." I said, looking toward the twins' house. "And besides, Hiccup had just woken up from a coma, everyone was just happy he was still alive. I don't think a kiss was a concern for anyone."
"Well considering how Tuffnut is, a coma may not be far behind." Gobber laughed and I just rolled my eyes before waving him goodbye and heading back towards the Great Hall.
When I got to the Great Hall, I saw my dad in his usual spot and I quickly hid behind someone to avoid any type of eye contact. I was hoping Hiccup and the others, even Tuffnut, had already left so I could stick to a table towards the back to keep hiding and to have a quick escape just in case.
"This is ridiculous," I thought "I'm not a kid, and it was just a simple kiss. No different than Hiccup and Astrid.". But still, even with this mindset, I still avoided looking at my dad as I put food on my plate and sat down at the table closest to the door. I made a quick look around for Hiccup and the others before actually starting to eat, feeling almost like a sheep before a dragon attack. I had high hopes for this strategy before I heard my name being yelled from across the hall and when I looked up, I saw Tuffnut standing on a table waving at me with the others also looking at me. I felt my stomach drop, almost losing my appetite, but I knew I couldn't just ignore him, especially after last night. Still, I picked up my plate and started walking towards them, still avoiding eye contact with my dad at the front.
When I got to the table I sat between Tuffnut and my brother, whose seats were also facing towards my dad, which I was a little happy about since I knew I could see if he started walking toward us and I could still escape.
"Well it's good to finally see my sister again." Hiccup remarked with a smile. "Almost couldn't fall asleep last night without hearing your sleep talk and snoring."
"I know," I said with a smile "I could barely fall asleep myself without hearing you tell Toothless goodnight a million times."
Hiccup chose to ignore this comment before shaking his head. "So how did training go last night Enya?"
I felt my cheeks turn red again and I started to wonder if dad also told Hiccup or if Tuffnut had already told him, or if he was completely oblivious to it all.
"It was great." I said quickly. "Learned a great amount, Tuffnut's a great teacher, we actually talked about having another lesson tonight."
"Well that's…great!" Astrid said and I gave her a nervous smile.
"And Enya's a great student!" Tuffnut said, wrapping his arm around my waist and pulling me towards him, earning him an eyebrow raise from Hiccup. I glanced out of the corner of my eye and thought I saw Stoick watching us. "In fact," Tuffnut continued "as a congratulations for your first lesson I got you something." He reached under the table and pulled out a bushel of flowers of every kind. Some with very vibrate yellows, whites, reds, some losing multiple petals, some very wilted, and some a little unrecognizable. I still couldn't help but smile when I saw them and started feeling butterflies in my stomach. "Girls like flowers so I found those outside." Tuffnut said with a smile.
I heard Snotlout make a remark but I partially ignored it when I saw my dad stand up from his chair and start walking towards us and the butterflies in my stomach seemed to turn to vanish and I started to feel panic. "W-well, sorry but I-I need to get to the forest." I said standing up. Tuffnut lowered his hand with the flowers still in them and gave me a puzzled look. "Hu-huge order, need more wood, I'll talk later." I saw Tuffnut's face drop as I started talking faster towards the door the closer Stoick got to the table. I heard Hiccup and Astrid call my name before I basically started running towards the door before closing it behind me, still running.
