Ah! Thank you everyone who has followed and reviewed!

Thank you so, so much Monkey-man369! I'm so, so happy you like Leo! I've always strived to make my characters complicated, and Leo is one of my most complex ones! And wow, this chapter is the longest one yet! I hope you guys enjoy it! This is when dynamics start to shift amongst the characters, and currently I have plans for almost all the games! So I plan to have this series go on for a long while!

Anyways, please enjoy :)

I own nothing but my characters.

Chapter Eight
Night Four...

"Hello, hello! Hey! Hey wow, day four...I knew you could do it. Hey, listen...I might not be around to send you a message tomorrow." At that Leo looked up from his monitor where he had been panicking at. The phone call had barely started and already they were active. Chica was once again off the stage, Foxy was peering through his curtains. Luckily Bonnie and Freddy were still up on stage.

However, the panic in Buddy's voice made Leo pause and gaze at the phone, he flinched hard when banging resounded from the device.

"It's-It's been a bad night here." More banging made Leo tense up and hunch his shoulders a bit. "For me. Umm...I-I'm kinda glad that I recorded my messages for you..." the man proceeded to clear his throat. The fear and stress in his usually chipper voice caused a sickening pit to form in Leo's stomach. "er, when I did. H-hey, do me a favor…" at each bang Leo flinched more. "maybe sometime, eh, you could check inside those suits, in-in the back room?" The words made the night guard's stomach drop. He shut his eyes tightly at the banging that he heard over the line. On some strange instinct Leo didn't understand, the desire to check back in the parts and services room hit him like a punch to the gut.

It was useless...his logic told him, the man was...already long gone. Probably buried in a shallow grave out back. Hidden away...without a funeral and without anyone knowing.

He felt like he was going to throw up.

"I'ma try to hold out...until someone...checks. Maybe it won't be so bad." The man gave a nervous laugh and Leo shut his eyes tight. He should be checking the cameras, he should be desperately trying to keep himself alive, but in one move he shut both doors and put the tablet down...and he listened. Flinching at each bang he exclusively listened to what was to be the man's last words. "I-I-I always wondered what was in those empty heads...back there-" chiming music began to play over the phone and Leo gazed at it quietly, his heart pounding in his chest and nausea playing yoyo with his stomach.

"You know..." the man continued, only to be cut off by a terrible moan, one that made Leo shudder. "Oh no-" there was the sound of shuffling, pounding of animatronic feet, and a terrible screech...followed by static...and then silence.

Leo sat there in the chair from the dining room in silence. He would check when the clock hit six. The guard knew it was in vain, he knew it was pointless. But...this guy had been the only one to actually try and help him. Not constantly tell him to leave, not berate him for choosing to do his job. He had tried to give him helpful advice to survive.

Granted Leo hadn't gone by much of that advice…

But it was the thought that counted.

Taking a deep breath he opened the tablet, and cursed, power was already at fifty percent and it was barely past one. He checked all the cameras as he tuned into the reality around him.

Chica was the only one he couldn't find. Foxy was still peering out of his curtain, Bonnie was backstage, and Freddy was still on stage. He let out a breath and nodded to himself. Okay, this was okay, he strained his ears to listen for any sign of Chica, but there was nothing. Anxiously he bit his lip and with a slightly trembling hand he pressed the light button.

Only to let out a yelp at the sight of Chica standing in the window, "***king ***l!" He huffed and rubbed his face. "Just go away! I'm not opening the door!"

"You will have to once the power goes out!" The chicken responded and Leo snapped his head up at that, that wasn't Chica's voice, it was not the one he had heard her use when they spoke before. It was lighter, higher pitched, and she finished it off with a giggle. The night guard couldn't help but stare at the chicken as she pressed herself against the glass in a much more dramatic fashion then before.

"A...are you okay…?" It was the only thing he could manage to ask as he watched her paw at the glass, pressing the side of her large head against the barrier between him and her. He gave a small wince when the glass groaned at the pressure she put on it.

"I'll be better once you diiiiiiee!" She trailed off into a high pitched singsong voice that made him wince and his good hand covering his ear. He huffed trying to hold onto his resolve...but this change in her demeanor was starting to freak him out.

"Why? Why do you want to kill me so bad!?" He demanded pressing further back into his seat when she pressed her forehead against the glass, causing her beak to face down. Her eyes were now half covered and she giggled again making him flinch.

"We can't tell you silly! That would ruin the game! Mustn't speak of such terrible things!" She slammed a fist against the glass and Leo flinched hard holding up his arm protectively, but the glass...didn't break. With a cautious breath he looked up...and she was gone.

He worried his bottom lip and looked at the other door, using his good hand he turned the lights on for that one as well. Only to curse profusely at the sight of Bonnie, the rabbit...was crouched down?

All Leo saw was his ears and eyes, like he was peeking up from the bottom. A giggle...only slightly deeper then Chica's filtered into the room making Leo swallow and push the chair back away from the door. Especially at the rapid banging on the recently fixed barrier.

That caused his eyes to widen comically. What the # %$ was happening?!

"The ***l Why are you all so aggressive!?" He shouted and flinched at the rapid banging that responded to him.

Somewhere in the distance there was the sound of the deep laughing once more. Freddy, he had only heard that laugh once but it was enough to send a shiver down his spine.

***k.

With a glance to his tablet he quickly discovered how much trouble he was in. 25% and it wasn't even two yet. Swallowing hard he pulled at his hair, they seemed...so desperate to get to him tonight. He just wished he knew why.

Maybe it was fear, perhaps hysteria, or maybe it was the fact that they sounded...so much like children at the moment. Leo got an idea, whether it be great or terrible, that would be determined by its success.

"SO, you guys like playing games huh?!" His eyes were fixed on Bonnie who had slowly risen to his full height, both hands on the window now. The rabbit's ears lifted up and he tilted his head.

"Yeah! Games are fun, we don't play many games anymore! But we like playing with you!" the hare shouted, only to pause and frown, the frown made Leo shiver and shrink back into his chair, "except when you cheat. We don't like cheating." The bunny growled and Leo nodded.

"Yeah! No cheating! Of course not! Sorry about that, I just didn't know the rules!" Leo laughed nervously at the end and glanced at his power again, 15% he only had so much time.

"How would you guys like a...like a new game?" He offered a shaky smile to the rabbit. Only for his ears to pick up on two sets of footsteps coming from his right.

Chica and Freddy.

***k.

"New game?" The bunny tilted his head, his ears following. Leo nodded hurriedly, wincing as he heard the same moan he had heard over the phone.

"Yeah! I'll play lots of games with you!" He sat up taking a breath, he needed to convince them, his heart thundered in his chest, he was at 9%. "But I can't play with you if I get stuffed now can I?" the guard ended pointedly. That made the bunny pause and tilt his head he looked to be thinking.

"We like games..." he trailed and Leo nodded trying not to get too excited.

"Yeah! And I know lots of games!"

"Adults aren't to be trusted!" another voice protested making Leo look to his right, he went rigid, he had never seen Freddy look so creepy before. The young voice sounded so strange in comparison to his usual deeper pitch.

"Oh...yeah, I know! Adults are terrible! But...but not all of us! I helped that kid today remember? A bad man was going to take him away but I stopped him!" Leo felt like his heart was about to burst from his chest. If they didn't take the bait he was a dead man.

They were all here.

"...he did, we saw it..." the chicken mused, and even though he couldn't see her, Leo felt such relief when he heard her.

"Yeah! And I took him back to his friends and talked to the cops so they could stop the bad man!" He offered glancing between the two windows. The only one who was yet to speak was Foxy.

"They came to see us!"

Well, he spoke too soon.

"Right! And he loved Foxy!" The doors would fly up at any time now…

"...what games do you know?" The softer...in comparison...voice of the child Bonnie made Leo sag in relief.

"O...oh I know lots! Hide 'n seek! Night guard! Uh, ever heard of freeze tag?" He laughed nervously glancing between the windows.

"I love hide 'n seek!" Foxy's child voice chimed in, through the door and Leo nodded.

"I...I do too!" the guard stammered as he watched the percentage hit zero on his tablet.

Everything then went dark.

He felt his heart stop in his chest as the doors slid open, soft chimes played in the background, ones he had never heard before, or perhaps was in too much panic and terror to notice.

The heavy footsteps of the animatronics was the only noise he heard. His eyes flickered up, only to meet their glowing once. With a severe flinch he cautiously raised his hand and waved at them.

"W...wa...wan...wanna...p...play…?" His voice came out more as a strangled squeak then actual words, but they seemed to understand him.

The animatronics looked at each other as if silently conversing before Freddy finally turned to him.

"You have to count!" The child's voice from the huge bot was still extremely disorienting, Leo nodded shakily feeling faint.

"O...of...of c...cour...course..."

Like...excited children, the four of them left the room and Leo was left sitting in the dark staring at the barely visible posters before him. He was alive...he was alive…

***k…***k…***K…he was playing hide 'n seek with freakin' giant robots who sound like children.

His breaths came out in wheezes as he tried to both calm down and count as ordered.

Finally after several attempts at counting, he calmed himself. If this is what he had to do to stay alive then so be it. Shaking like he was in vibrate the night guard started to count. When he reached thirty, he decided that was a good number to stop at. Now the part he had been dreading. Going to find them.

Oh the irony.

He grabbed his crutch and started hobbling toward the door. His mind raced as he tried to remember every game he knew. The games he came up with was literally what was going to keep him alive.

Leo tried not to think about how disturbing all of this was.

It had taken him far too long to figure out the first one. Bonnie had hidden in parts and services, without even realizing it, Leo's feet had led him to the room in the back. He didn't even have a flashlight, how was he even supposed to see if Buddy was back here? Leo wished his instincts had more thought out plans rather than just making him do things.

The room was pitch black, except for a few blinking lights from some machinery that Leo couldn't even begin to comprehend. The guard nearly tripped over a piece of something and stumbled hissing under his breath and letting out a swear.

A giggle made him jump and look around wildly, "bad word! # #$! #$ ! Bad word!" The familiar child's voice sang in the room. Leo looked around wildly before finally landing on the vague bit of movement he saw to his left. Subconsciously the guard took a step back.

"Bonnie?" His voice was soft, not wanting to break the silence that had fallen over the room after the child finished.

"Aw! This always happens to me!" the higher voice protested, there was the sound of shifting, and then two magenta colored eyes stared back at him from the darkness. Leo inhaled sharply at the sight and flinched when he heard the footsteps of the bot come over.

The guard felt his body tensing up and curling in on itself when he felt the furs of the hare brush up against his sleeve causing the slightest bit of friction. He stayed frozen for a long moment before slowly looking up, only to bite back a whimper at the sight of those magenta colored eyes staring down at him.

When had their eyes glowed?

"H...hey..." the man stammered looking up at the being who could kill him in seconds.

"Hey! Now we go find the others!" The bunny then proceeded to grab Leo's upper arms and pick him up with this grip. The night guard let out an undignified strangled noise.

"I...I ca...can wa...walk..." He tried to sound more forceful, but his voice was so strangled up he sounded like a protesting kid.

"You're too slow! We're faster!" Leo could only nod shakily at that, he couldn't exactly say no or deny that now could he?

"O...okay..."

Bonnie then stopped in the dining room looking around, "where do we go?"

Leo was about to ask why he was even asking when he realized, right, he was it, he had to go find them...and they hated cheaters.

"T...to the ki...kitchens..." The rabbit nodded, and Leo could only tell because he glanced at his eyes.

When the bunny had to duck down to get inside of the kitchen Leo was again floored by how tall he was, the only thing Leo had to duck under was an umbrella when it rained.

Bonnie proceeded to place him down and Leo winced heavily as he landed on his bad foot, but decidedly didn't make any noise, he did not want to find out what reaction the rabbit would have to that.

"Ch...chica?" The human called as he hobbled into the kitchen, he wanted to rub his now sore arms, he had forgotten how strong Bonnie's grip was.

He hoped she was in the kitchen...he didn't want to know what happened if he failed this game.

The guard encircled the kitchen twice, and felt a bit flustered, especially with the magenta eyes following his every movement. How could a giant chicken robot hide so effectively? Of course there was the possibility that she wasn't in the kitchen...but where else could she hide?

After several more times around the kitchen, these times checking the corners of the room, he let out a hard breath and came back over to the door. Said door was being blocked by the seven foot tall animatronic. Leo looked up at him, suppressing a shiver as those eyes stared right back down at him.

"I...I don't think s...she is i...in h...here..." He stuttered out quietly, the hare tilted his head and nodded before once again picking up Leo and exiting the kitchen.

"Where to next?" The overly chipper voice of the child was deeply disturbing coming from the large animatronic holding him.

"B...backstage p...please..." He whispered and the bot started to move, Leo absentmindedly noticed how much stiffer the rabbit's movements were tonight…

Once they arrived backstage, it actually wasn't that hard to find Freddy, which honestly surprised Leo. After he was placed down by the rabbit the guard went over to the large animatronic in the corner. He really didn't want to get any closer.

"F...Freddy?" He stammered, and the bear turned toward him making Leo stumble back a bit, blue eyes opened and stared at him, before a giggle escaped the bot.

"You're good at this! But you'll never find Foxy and Chica!" He giggled again before leaving the room. Leo gave him a wide berth.

Bonnie however stayed.

Leo already knew what was coming when he went over to the bot, and with an amused giggle he picked up the human by his arms again.

"Where to now?" At the question Leo took a breath.

"P...pirates cove?"

The bot started moving again and Leo tried to ignore how the jolting aggravated his injuries. He hadn't taken his meds in awhile and he was out of cigarettes.

Perfect.

The bunny ducked down as he entered the closed off area, Leo tried to ignore how he had broken the lock in order to enter.

That was going to be coming out of his paycheck as well.

They entered the cove and Leo was set down once more, wincing and biting back a curse as pain pulsed up his leg. With a breath he hobbled into the cove, the first place he very cautiously checked was behind the curtains.

He wasn't sure if he was relieved or not that it was empty.

Leo checked the entire room, but there was no sign of Foxy. Nor was there any sign of Chica. All hopes of winning this game quickly were shot now. He wasn't sure why Bonnie continued to man handle him, but at the very least he didn't have to walk on his leg anymore. Though he was going to have some ugly bruises on his arms tomorrow.

The night guard was sure he had spent nearly an hour trying to find the hen and the fox. But no sign of them. Freddy had returned to the stage and was fake singing into his microphone. The sight was unnerving to say unto the least.

He was acting like a child.

A young one at that.

Leo had so many questions, but he didn't know how kindly they would be taken, so he decidedly kept his mouth shut.

Bonnie patiently took him all around the restaurant, and honestly Leo couldn't explain why. Everything he had known about these animatronics had been thrown out of the window tonight.

Finally Leo was at the point of checking under tables when Bonnie suddenly slumped over while standing. The guard paused before looking up at the sight, and then turned only to find Freddy in the same position.

He did not know what to do for the longest time, his eyes flickered between the two of them as he debated whether it was safe or not to leave the room.

Then, just as he was about to get up and leave the room, there was a humming sound as they powered on. Leo stiffened up not sure what he would be encountering.

Bonnie moved first, he stood up, his ears lifting, and Leo gazed up at him with wide eyes. The hare looked around before his magenta eyes landed on Leo, the human couldn't help but notice how they suddenly lacked the glow they had before. Luckily for him, his eyes had pretty much adjusted to the darkness. It still was terrifying, but it was better than nothing.

"B...Bonnie?" There was something different about him, and Leo couldn't quite put his finger on it.

"Leo?" The lagomorph responded in a much more familiar voice. The human couldn't help but gasp and let the relief wash over him at the deeper tenor.

"You...you okay?"

"I think we should be asking you that question young man." Freddy's deep voice made Leo let his shoulders drop in relief.

"Y...yeah...yeah I'm f...fine.." he paused and stepped away from the both of them, as if that would help. "W...wait...are...are you p...planning o...on stuffing m...me…?"

"No. Rest assured young man. We are not going to harm you." Freddy continued, and Leo honestly wasn't sure if he believed him.

"Not right now at least." Bonnie finished. Leo gazed at him a long moment before taking a breath.

"...okay...well if you aren't...I need to go check on something." That was a bit more mumbled than he intended.

He started hobbling for the parts and services room, the sun was just barely lighting up the sky, but it was enough to help him see.

Leo half expected Bonnie to follow him. The lumbering rabbit had been very close almost the entire night. But the hare stayed where he was, Leo was a lot more comforted by that then he had thought he would be.

The sound of his crutch hitting the ground was deafening within the silent room. Some light started to bleed through the small rectangular window toward the upper part of the room. Leo glanced around nervously at all the suits, and in a morbid thought he wondered which one would've...or would be his grave.

Letting out a harsh breath to pull himself out of the ominous thought process Leo went over to one of the full bodied suits and crouched down, making sure to instead of bend, extend his broken leg and bend his good one. The pressure on the working leg made him wince a bit, but he could hold out for a moment or two. Reaching out, he felt his stomach roll at the possibility that he could find something...that he could find Buddy…

The mask was empty.

Leo let out a breath and glanced around the room at the other suits. Only to pause and look back at the one before him. What if the guy was short...and didn't fit into the suit normally? Swallowing Leo looked around for a release button, he found it under the arms of the empty Chica suit. Pressing it the torso region let out a hiss and popped open, Leo leaned back slightly hiking up his shoulders before peeking inside.

Nothing.

This process he repeated with all four suits in the room, the only one who had two extra suits was Freddy, and Leo couldn't help but wonder if it was because the big predator's suit broke a lot.

All four of them were empty, and as Leo crouched before the last suit he felt something constrict his breathing a bit. He was gone. It was no more definitive than it was now.

He used his good arm to help himself into a sitting position. As he stared at those suits, Leo couldn't help but shudder. It was so morbid being in here. Where so many people died. The very same...bots he played hide 'n seek with last night were the ones who killed all those people before him. The air in the room was thick, suffocating even.

Somewhere in the back of his head Leo had known that Buddy didn't make it, if Leo was here and Mike was in the hospital...there was no way the man over the phone survived. But there had been that desperate hope that he had left, called it quits and abandoned the place entirely.

That he had survived.

The guard knew there was a bloody legacy behind him, he just wished he knew what was different this time. Mike had never mentioned the bots talking to him, and Buddy certainly hadn't suggested playing with them. So clearly this was something new...but why? It couldn't be that no one hadn't thought of this before him. Leo wasn't that innovative. So there had to be something else...but what?

The sound of mechanical footsteps made Leo stiffen up and look over his shoulder, there entered the hare. The purple bot looked around the room quietly, before looking down at Leo. "Chica had thought you might be upset." The lagomorph explained, as if that answered why he was here.

In a way it did, but in no way could Leo understand that reasoning.

Why did they care if he was upset?

"...I vaguely remember him. It was about five months ago now." The bunny continued and Leo stared at him quietly, the guard felt a sense of anger rise in him. The bot only vaguely remembered the man that he helped to kill. It was sickening.

"Oh do you now?" Leo, try as he might couldn't keep the edge out of his voice. Bonnie looked back at him, and Leo wondered if he had a glare on his face.

He also wondered if his time of not being harmed by them was up.

However, when the bunny's ears drooped and he cast his eyes down, Leo was thrown for a loop.

"Adults can't be trusted Leo..." The bunny murmured, and Leo blinked staring at him with wide eyes, had he slipped into an alternative reality last night…? "They do bad things, and no one stops them." Leo couldn't stop staring at him, it was one thing to have a conversation with Chica, the chicken hadn't ever hurt Leo. But with Bonnie it was different, his injuries ached, like they remembered the hare that caused them.

"Not every adult is like that. You can't just make generalized assumptions!" The guard countered, not sure where this bravo was coming from. "Because of those assumptions innocent people have died!"

That caused Bonnie's head to snap up, his eyes glowing and ears up, Leo scooted back using his leg to push him. The rabbit advanced and the guard cursed himself for being so stupid.

"You know nothing of innocent death! The adults didn't care! They never did! And they never do!" the voice had changed, into the same higher pitched one that Leo had heard the night before.

The child's voice.

Bonnie came over and grabbed Leo by his casted arm, the man cried out in pain as he was pulled to his feet, "adults are all the same! They hurt! They're mean! And they don't care!" If the guard wasn't in so much pain, he would have noticed how...emotional the child-like voice had gotten.

However his vision was starting to darken at the edges and he could only give out strained, strangled noises.

The bunny shook him and Leo let out a yelp and a cry, the world spinning around him.

"Adults are all the same! You are like all the others! You don't care and you are mean!" The child-like voice continued still shaking him. Leo was seeing stars, tears of agony slipped down his face and he cried out.

"I'm not! I care! I do! I promise!" his voice came out a lot higher then he intended. The bunny paused in the shaking and gazed down at him with those glowing eyes.

There were several beats of silence, well silence mixed with Leo's strained and wheezing breaths as nausea stirred in his stomach.

Then, slowly the hare placed him down, and when Leo looked up at him, his eyes were back to normal.

Leo wanted to yell at him, demanding why, but his arm pulsed and his mouth remained shut. He cast his eyes down, he was in too much pain to aggravate them anymore.

Letting out a breath he looked for his crutch, only to swear under his breath, it was too far out of his reach.

Once again, he tensed when the animatronic footsteps resounded. With baited breath he waited for something to happen, the footsteps didn't fade, instead they got closer once more. It was then that the top of his crutch entered his vision. Slowly the guard looked up at the rabbit holding it. His ears were drooping again, eyes cast down to the ground. After a moment, Leo grabbed the crutch and put it under his arm. Slowly he pushed himself to his feet, ignoring the dizzy spell that overwhelmed him for a few moments.

"The cleaning crew will be here soon." The guard muttered as he looked around, "it's probably best they don't see you." With that he hobbled out of the room, he felt the eyes of the bunny on his back as he left, but Leo didn't turn back.

Nearly falling back, the guard cursed as he entered the dining room, only for the elusive fox to jump in front of him. Leo let out another string of curses holding his chest and gazing at the red bot. He proceeded to bite his lip to keep from glaring at the dangerous animatronic before him. The guard was in so much pain, he could barely stand. What the #$# did this guy want?

"Aye lad! It seems this cap'in has evaded ye the whole night!" The bot grinned wolfishly, showing off all his various teeth, whether white, gold or silver. Leo was sure all of them could deliver a deadly bite.

"...uh...y...yeah..." Leo stammered, a sweat breaking out on his brow as nausea played yoyo with his stomach. The bot seemed to notice his distress, and his grin fell.

"Lad? Ya alright there?" the pirate asked, and Leo was pretty sure he nodded, but he could only guess that by the bobbing of his vision.

Said vision was getting blurrier by the second, Leo's tongue felt like lead in his mouth, and his stomach leaped into his throat as the brief sensation of falling hit him. Then everything was still, it felt nice, the pain had faded into dull aches. Noise that had previously filled his ears and made his head ache was now muffled like he had cotton balls stuffed in his ear canals.

A vague sensation of being picked up by something fuzzy made what he presumed to be a smile slip over his face. Fuzzy...but coarse enough to be bearable, it was like old blankets, the ones filled with memories and smells.

With what strength he had left, Leo curled closer to the fabric, inhaling the scent and drifting off into oblivion.

It seems staying awake for several nights with broken limbs can wear you out huh?

Leo has never been known for his self-care skills.

Anyways, I hope you guys liked the chapter! What did you think of the children? If you want to know what sort of helped to inspire this chapter, I'd check out Like it Or Not by CG5, it's a really great FNAF song. Anyways, this is when the animatronics start to shift their opinion of Leo, so we can get into some good ole bonding time! (Ya know, as much as you can bond with animatronics that have repeatedly tried to kill you...)

I'd love to hear what you guys think! Thank you so much for reading! :)
