Chapter 16: How My World Exploded

"I just wanted to tell you that I understand if you go. It's okay if you have to leave us. It's okay if you want to stop fighting."

Gayle Forman, If I Stay

.

.

The blond stood in silence as he leaned against a wall, slowly taking in the cigarette before exhaling, watching as the toxic fumes floated freely into the warm, heavy air of France. His patience was running thin as well as his sanity, but he somehow found a way to hold onto whatever thread of sanity he had as he waited for his partner to come.

His eyes were burning and his face felt heavy due to the lack of sleep he'd had, but that was the least of his worries right now. Who could sleep when their loved one was nowhere to be found?

He'd been up searching for her everywhere. But nothing. Each passing day seemed like a thread of hope lost for him. His heart was being cut out of his chest, making him empty. Lifeless..

He was a soul wandering without its body. There was no need doubting it anymore - he wanted his mother, badly. The heat of the night only intensified his desire in seeing her, in telling her that he didn't mean all those things. He had to see her. It didn't matter what the circumstances would be. He had made his decision nights ago.

He would gladly die than give up on his mother.

Sasori came from the building, his white suit replaced with an all-black ensemble. He acknowledged the quiet male and threw him a black bag before getting into the black Mercedes-Benz W222. Deidara noted that the bag was heavy and nonchalantly threw it on the back seat between the men before starting up the car.

"Have you found each location?", asked Sasori as he began to load ammunition into the gun at his side.

Deidara blew out more smoke before throwing the fag out the window. He soon began to drive.

One of the men in the back answered the man's question. "Taki reported four of the drug trades ran by Mondine. We assume that Uchiha could be holding her captive at one of them. Start with the one nearby"

Sasori held the gun up in the moonlight before tucking it back in his pants.

Of course Uchiha could, Mondine was working for him. Holding his wife hostage in his own drug sites?

Deidara glared ahead of him, his thoughts on only one person. If Mondine was apart of this, he swore he'd go down with the Uchiha... He soon stopped at a building located on the outskirts of Paris. Taki and his partner opened the black bag and took out their respective machine guns.

"Search the place up and down. If she's not there, you know what to do..", the blond drawled off. The two men nodded before getting out of the car and going towards the building. Soon Deidara pulled off towards the next site.

Sasori pushed some hair back."Do you really think she's at either one of them?"

Deidara shrugged. "My dad said that Uchiha wanted him to pay him the money at the north trade downtown that ships the stuff, but you know how sneaky that cunt is, un. She could be anywhere."

Sasori looked out the window in frustration. "And tell me why we couldn't pay the debt to Uchiha?"

"That bastard wouldn't take money from us, and my dad is such a drug head that if we gave him the money he would likely spend it on more of that shit."

As the two pulled up to the site, Sasori reached in the back and pulled out a weapon for Deidara, who took it without a word."Your father's pretty fucked up."

Deidara scoffed. "Don't mention it."

The two men walked up towards the place and up the latter in the alleyway, careful not to be spotted by the giant lights around the place.

Once they made it, they pressed their backs on the wall and crept towards the window. Deidara peeked around the corner and saw what he was expecting.

Hundreds of people were inside, packing the clear-wrapped white substance in boxes and shipping it off on the conveyer belt, which led to an opening on the far side where fifteen trucks were patiently waiting.

"Do you see it?"

Deidara nodded and began to inch towards ladder that led to the roof. Sasori sighed as he began to follow him.

It was going to be a long night.

When the music started, Hinata unsteadily bowed, trying not to make contact with the Uchiha as she gave him her hand.

When Temari told her she would eventually meet Sasuke, she didn't think it would be now, in the middle of the room where people were watching with peering eyes. Sasuke and his estranged wife, Hinata Hyuuga. She became anxious.

His hand slowly slid down her back to the edge of her hip, sending sharp shivers through her.

"So you're with Akatsuki now...?", Sasuke began, slowly bringing her closer much to her dismay.

Hinata felt her stomach drop when she finally met his perfect face, all twisted in question as he raised his dark brow. He was so gorgeous - she was supposed to catch his attention? She couldn't match up to his perfection. Only Sakura could...

She looked away in embarrassment when she noticed that he was still staring at her, waiting for an answer. "Y-Yes. I am." , she said, pausing when he twirled her.

"So how many did you sleep with to get in?"

Her mind went blank in an instant. "W-What did you just s-say?", she asked, catching his glaring stare with confusion and slight hurt. Just a moment ago he was somewhat pleasant, now he was a whole different person.

"And I'm assuming that you're with Sabaku since you're probably screwing around with that bastard's cousin too?" He looked her up and down, etching mild disappointment on his face.

And Mikoto wanted her to believe that Sasuke missed her? He didn't miss her. He was just a possessive bastard like always.

Is he jealous? That possibility didn't seem too unrealistic.

"I'm not going to repeat myself, Hyuuga."

Once again, he was commanding her to do this or that, just like all those other times. He was acting as if he owned her or something, as if she was but a mere child.

Konan's words surfaced.. We'll stop treating you like one when you learn to start acting like an adult…

Hinata frowned. She wasn't a child. She snapped.

"First of all, I didn't sleep with anyone, not that it's your business to know anyway. I am still a married after all, despite how it may seem to certain people." She muttered the last part to herself.

Sasuke glowered. "So you're not fucking anyone, Hinata?"

He sarcastically made his previous question so simple, and she almost answered it. As if she didn't know what fucking was - no one was inserting anything in her...that she knew of.

Sasuke was pissing her off. She decided to go along with his game.

Hinata rolled her eyes, yanking her hand away from him.

"I don't kiss and tell, Sasuke. ", she said, meeting his seething glrare.

She almost smiled.

Bingo.

Mission Catch the Bastard's Attention: Accomplished.

She moved past him before he could catch her, not seeing how quickly his eyes turned from anger to desire.

"Hinata?", someone called out, causing her to pause in her escape in the familiarity of it. It couldn't be, not now.

Hinata turned around."Naruto?"

The tall blond that could rival Deidara in height stood staring at her, his cheeks flushed and baby blue eyes wide, confusing her. "H-Hey Hinata. I...didn't expect to see you tonight…"

His hard stare made her self-conscious. She pushed some hair from her face. "I-Is there something on my face?", she asked, trying to wipe under her and and fluff some more of her hair over the 'mark'.

Naruto looked away, his face going red. "N-No, there isn't. You look...nice tonight, Hinata."

She glanced at him suspiciously. "Thank you.", she said, giving him her hand. She frowned a little when he put his hand on the middle of her back instead of her hip, which is how the dance is supposed to go.

With swift hands, she brought his hand down until it reached her lower back, and slid it over to her hip. When she heard a groan, and she looked back up into his blue orbs to see that they were closed shut, his eyelids twitching ever so slightly.

Hinata frowned once again at his behavior. She wasn't that atrocious.

"Is t-there something wrong, Naruto?", she asked with a little hesitation, watchin as his face grew redder. "You're not sick are you?" She put the back of her hand on his forehead.

"I-I'm okay." He was doing more stuttering that she was, which was surpsing. A little perspiration was on his brow.

An awed expression came upon her face as she realized just what was happening.

She was making him nervous! She couldn't believe it! All those years in high school, she had admired him from afar, and now here he was, almost swooning from her touch.

Hinata looked around the blonde's shoulder a bit to see Sasuke with a brunette, who was clinging to him rather tightly. He looked annoyed, but the woman didn't look to care. In that moment, his eyes meet hers, sending the bluette's gaze back to Naruto's.

So Sasuke could see her from this distance, which meant that anything she had did right now, he would see it. She let this set in for a couple of seconds before a light bulb came on in her head.

What would catch Sasuke's attention and keep it? A little rendezvous with his best friend.

When the music started again, Hinata grabbed Naruto's hand and intertwined it with her's, gaining a wide eyed stare from him.

"Hinata, w-w-what are you doing!"

She closed the distance between them, determination in her eyes.

I have to keep his attention…

Hinata pulled him closer, his hips matching up with his, his hands going lower…

Deidara and Sasori need time…

She was making a sacrifice, but it didn't matter. Someone's life was on the line right now.

Hinata squeaked, her cheeks going red.

Naruto had obviously forgotten about Sasuke watching them, because she felt his hand grip her bottom as he pulled her even closer. She looked up at him and noticed that his eyebrows were raised in fascination, his blue eyes clouded.

"Wow, Hinata. I didn't think you were so naughty…", he joked, sliding his hand up her waist.

Hinata had the urge to run away.

Smooth move, Hinata. Smooth move.

"No no no no no NO!", yelled Mikoto as she watched the scene from the sidelines with her camera in hand. "How could Sasuke screw it up?! This was his chance to get his woman back!"

Kushina thought the opposite, and excitedly started to snap more pictures and beat on the photographers. The redhead sighed dreamily before showing the brooding woman her camera shots.

"You see this, Miko? This is the picture of what I like to call sweet...VICTORY!"

Mikoto rolled her eyes as she plopped down on a chair, arms folded and glare penetrating.

Kushina sighed dreamily, watching the pair out on the floor. "My grandchildren! I'm gonna have grand babies! I'll make the perfect grandmother!"

Mikoto sighed, gripping her locks."I'm going to kick your son's ass."

Kushina ignored her. "MADARA! Get over here!"

Madra sighed, looking back to his dance partner. "Excuse me for a moment.", he said, hurriedly making his way over to the redhead. "What, Kushina?

The red-haired woman pushed a camera into his hand and beamed at him. "Take this and keep taking pictures for me will you?"

Madara glowered. "This is what you called me over for? Do you know how hard it was for me to find someone here my age that is actually single and good looking? I was gonna get some, Kushina - "

"Well at least you got your dance in - I haven't gotten even one dance with my husband yet, so suck it up.", Kushina shoved the camera into his hands, a small smirk coming to her lips. "And p.s., she wasn't gonna give you any. If you haven't noticed, you're one ugly brute for your age."

"I'm an Uchiha - the name makes up for it!", Madara yelled after the giggling woman.

Mikoto continued to glare at Naruto. "Just what does he have that my little ducky doesn't?"

"Personality.", said Madara as he angrily adjusted the camera. "A pickle has more personality than Sasuke."

She shifted her eyes on him and narrowed them. "Did I ask you? Can't you see I'm in my thinking pose?"

Madara sighed heavily and started to take the damn pictures.

Hinata felt...violated? She didn't know for sure, but that was how she felt right now. Much more on the borderline of disturbed maybe?

"I didn't know that we had such an attraction.", muttered Naruto as he held her closely despite it being ballroom dancing.

Hinata glared at him openly, not liking how he was talking and absolutely not liking her new-found plan. It was worse than Sasori's off-the-top plans.

"This i-isn't ballroom dancing. And you're being delusional.", she said in a slightly annoyed tone.

He slacked up his hold on him. "I don't know how to ballroom dance - and what your problem? I don't recall doing anything to you...", he trailed off, looking away in thought.

Hinata frowned. "Sure, interrogating my sister and serving me with papers is something that my friends do on a daily basis. N-No big deal."

Naruto frowned at her sarcasm. "I was only doing my job-"

"Which is?" She ping-ponged.

He didn't answer, instead he turned his head away, his eyes shuffling through conflicting emotions. "I'm apart of MGC Hinata - what one of us go through, we all go through. Me serving you those papers was nothing personal." He twirled her and brought her back close. "I didn't think that you would take it that way. I still care about you."

"So I guess you picked up the habit of lying from Sasuke too, right?" Hinata snatched herself away from him and bowed. Just as she was about to scurry away, she felt him grab her wrist and turn her back around to gaze angrily into his orbs.

"I'm sorry, Hinata."

His apology made her revere away from her madness. She felt it slip away and quickly form into nothing. She was left staring at him, and could tell that he was sorry.

His azure eyes showed her his feelings of guilt and sorrow, yet she could not accept his apology. At least not yet. Because when she looked into his eyes, it reminded her of the woman in the picture, Anne-Sophie.

MGC was holding her captive at this very moment, yet he could not express a feeling of guilt from that? With a glare she pulled her wrist away, lifted her dress and ran towards the table to grab her purse and soon the exit, leaving him standing there watching after her.

"We've searched everywhere, boss. She's just not here."

Deidara gritted his teeth as he held the phone.

Sasori sighed tiredly and spoke to the phone that was on speaker. "Have you checked in with the others? Have they checked the other two trade sites as well?"

"Yeah, but there is still no sign of her. Maybe we were wrong about her being there..."

Sasori looked towards his partner and saw him clench his fist, drawing blood from his fingernails. He looked down at the phone."Did you make sure that she wasn't there before you planted the explosive?"

A quick breath came before he answered. "Yes yes, of course. In and out."

"Good job. Search around the area some more until we que you."

"Dammit!" Deidara banged his hand on the hood once the call ended. "Where the hell is she?!"

The redhead glanced at him one more time and threw the gun in the backseat. "Calm down, Deidara - "

"I was so sure that she'd be there! Where else could that bitch have put her?! I swear, if that little bitch does something to my mother - " Deidara hit the hood some more, letting his thoughts wander. "We have an hour left to find her, Sasori. What the fuck can we do in an hour?"

Sasori gripped his shoulder. "We'll find her, Deidara."

"How can you be so sure?" Deidara's eyes softened the redhead's soft tone. "What if we don't, un?...What if we're too late?"

"Now is not the time to be doubting if she's alive. She is, and we'll find her."

"If I lose her I don't know what I'd do…"

Sasori saw for the first time that his best friend was scared of losing someone. He'd tumbled in and out of life fearless, uncaring, just trying to be free - fear never brought Deidara down. Now here he was, at his lowest point, his entire life revolving around the existence of the one person he'd hope to forget.

Deidara fell to his knees, his blonde tresses freely covering his eyes from sight. "...If I lose her, I don't think I could live here anymore. I cursed at her...I told her I wanted her to die, but I didn't mean it. I never meant any of it...she'd die thinking I hate her - "

"You're not going to lose her, Deidara. Just believe that she is still alive and well. Sitting here in guilt and regret isn't going to help us find her. Let's go." The redhead let go and got into the driver's seat.

Deidara took a minute to stare up at the full moon. Where are you...mother?

Once Hinata was outside the ballroom, she stopped and leaned against a wall.

This plan wasn't going to work out. She shakily looked up at the gigantic clock at the front entrance of the hotel and gasped. 10:30.

Only thirty minutes before he was scheduled to meet Mondine.

She closed her eyes, trying to calm herself. She had never ever been this anxious in her life.

She missed Sasori so much right now. She was sure that if he was here, he would know what to do -

A crashing noise in the quiet lobby, making Hinata snap open her eyes. She saw a man picking up items that had fallen from a cleaning cart. Normally she would go and help, but something in her body held her back. She watched him look around and set the things back on the cleaning cart before rushing into the elevator.

Hot breath hit her ear. "We need to talk."

Hinata barely had time to respond before Sasuke walked off, hand in pocket and jacket over his shoulder. She quickly followed after him into the empty elevator.

When the doors closed, Hinata looked at the dial pad while feeling his eye roam over her.

She was going to have to do whatever it took to stop Sasuke and whoever, but having sex was pushing it a bit too far.

She would rather kiss the beautiful feet of Sakura Haruno than give herself up to him.

When the door dinged, Hinata followed the tall man out. He stopped and swiped his gold card before ushering her in. She saw a cleaning cart being pushed past the door before he closed, and to her dismay, locked it with a deafening click.

Hinata took a moment to glance over the room, checking for an escape route of some kind incase Sasuke got the wrong idea.

Why is everything gold? The bed, the wall, even the carpet and window seal. Soon he popped on the light, and the gold just intensified. He booked the Imperial Suite.

Hinata glared as she looked around. Rich bastard..

"You've changed..."His deep voice went throughout the room as he sat on the couch, arms stretched on the edges as he watched her with his red eyes.

"I-I thought that your eyes were..." She took a step back when his smirk widened and the three dots in his eyes started to spin.

"There are a lot of things you don't know about me." That sent shivers up her spin.

Hinata turned away from him, going back to his first question. "I haven't. I'm still the same old me.", she said silently. At least that is what she thought.

Had she changed?

Sasuke made a sound. "I beg to differ." Hinata stilled when he got up and started to approach her. Once again, her body didn't react like she wanted, her footing stayed still, both out fear and out of curiosity. When he stopped in front of her, she lightly inhaled his scent and felt her knees shake. He was intimidating, but persuasive and seductive.

Hinata jumped when his fingers slid down her sides, tauntingly sending waves of sensation to her lower body. She couldn't imagine just how she would feel if he went that far. "S-Sasuke.", she pushed him away, only for him to pull her closer.

"You've changed physically though. Interesting." His voice held amusement and intrigue, yet Hinata could not release her own voice. Mentally, she was screaming to herself, trying to make her body do what she said.

She didn't want him doing this to her, yet her body did.

One of his hands found her the back of her knee, where he slowly pulled it around his waist as he brought her even closer. His other hand found its way to her zipper.

She stood still, shivering and involuntary aching at his touches. She cursed her body to listen to her, but to no avail. She could feel his breath on her lips, and could feel his hand nearing that area slowly, tauntingly.

He was possessing her. She wouldn't let him do this to her.

"I-I don't think Sakura would like this."

Sasuke's hand stopped. The bluette looked up and watched his eyes turn to slits before pushing away from him and taking coverage near a wall behind her.

When he didn't say anything, she allowed a small smile to come upon her lips in triumph. She had somehow gained an upper hand in the situation. She pushed herself away from the wall and walked to the couch before taking a seat, making sure to fold her legs in order for the 'slit' in her gown to show as much skin as possible.

Sasori needed 'time' right? Hinata knew what Sasuke wanted now. She could use it to her advantage.

Hinata started to twirl her hair out of anxiousness as his eyes were on he."Speaking of Sakura, how is the wedding planning going?", she asked, sarcasm rolling off every word.

Sasuke inched towards her with the sleeth of a lion after its prey. "Fine."He slowly too a seat on the sofa.

Hinata scooted over towards the edge, careful not to let him near her - she was still wary of his intentions from before. "Make sure to put me on the guest list, will you? I would hate to miss such a ceremony."

Apparently her sarcasm was overpowering, because soon he tried to grab at her arm, but she quickly got up and started to observe the paintings on the wall. He had almost had her with his touches; next time he would definitely have her. And that's what was so scary.

In all honesty, she sort of liked this game a little; the chase made her adrenaline move through her body. It was becoming addicting - she felt like she held all of the cards at once…

Sasuke grabbed her upper arm, startling the poor girl. "I don't have time for games, Hinata.", he bit out, frustration in his voice, but amusement in his eyes. "Why are you doing this?" Why are you taunting me?

He was amused. She hated that look.

Hinata frowned. "Because, frankly, I'm sick of you.", she finally said, snatching her arm from his grasp. "You're selfish, stubborn, rude, and egotistical and think that you can have whatever you want, when you want. Because you're Sasuke Uchiha."

He continued to glare at her, but that didn't make her stop - it only made her want to go on and on.

"You know what that means to me though? Not a damn thing.", Hinata said, inwardly scaring herself at how fiery her words were becoming. "You're just like everyone else. You live and die just like everyone else in this world. Yes, you may be rich, and yes, you may be handsome and successful, but so are many other men in this world. You can't just step on people and expect them to love you and follow after your tail. I wouldn't dare lower myself to ever doing anything like what you tried to start before, and it's not because I was played and unfairly drawn into this marriage, but because I have respect for myself and for your fiance."

His red eyes started to spin, but still she ignored that, because she was sputtering her feelings to him. Nothing mattered.

"You're a horrible person, and I was a fool for ever loving you. I pray that Sakura doesn't have to go through the same thing I went through with, because I'm sure that she would be miserable and lonely just like I was. The day I walk away from that courthouse will be a day that I will celebrate for the rest of my life: the day I left a cheating, egotistical bitch like you!"

She almost screamed when she was thrown to the floor and didn't have enough time to catch her breath before Sasuke's lips met hers and his hand started to grip her waist painfully. She gasped at the pain, and instantly his tongue went into her mouth.

What was wrong with him?

She was becoming hot in her middle again, which wasn't good at all - her body wasn't in sync with what she was feeling at all. It scared her more than anything.

The bluette started to push him away from her, but was trapped underneath him on the floor. She became terrified when she felt his hand creep up the inside of her thigh, involuntarily making her buck against him.

"Stop fighting me.", he bit out, grabbing the back of her knee and bring her leg around his waist. He started to near her neck...

"S-STOP! Get off me!", Hinata yelled, feeling unshed tears build up in her sight in fear of Sasuke and of her body. She didn't want this. She didn't -

Sasuke suddenly stopped.

With this opportunity in her hands, Hinata shoved him off with all her might and scurried away from him until her back reached the wall. Sasuke stood still, his eyes connected to the floor as if he was trying to figure out something.

Just what had happened? One minute she was telling him off, and the next he was jumping her bones. The bluette held her chest and looked up at him in shock and disbelief of his actions.

"W-What is wrong with you?", she asked, still shaky from the current incident. "You were...going to - "

Sasuke snapped his red gaze to her. "Who the fuck gave you that?",Sasuke's question held malice in it, and she noted how his mood swings made her even more nervous.

"What are you - ", she gasped, covering her mark with her hands. She had almost forgotten. Sasori. She looked away. "T-That's none of your business, Sasuke!"

His eyes narrowed at her and he started to stalk towards her. "It was that Akatsuki member, wasn't it?", he asked, backing her into a wall once again, his looming stature covering her own. She hesitated in answering his question, but did nonetheless.

"Why do you care? You've moved on. Don't I have every right to do the same?", Hinata asked, unsure of what to say - it had been a mistake, a misconception of someone's feelings towards her. Would he believe her if she had told him?

His face held anger, but in those crimson orbs she could see that amusement again as well as a spark of humour. Sasuke leaned in further towards her before looming over her ear.

"Because you're mine."

"I belong to no one…"

She stared up at him with wide eyes. His voice held a possessive tone about it, as if he really believed he owned her. She had to look away from those smouldering eyes, and instead made contact with the counter.

A picture of a crying blonde woman met her gaze...

Anne-Sophie…

A phone started to ring then, and Hinata looked down at her vibrating purse. Passing a look to Sasuke for momentarily, she slipped away from him and pulled the phone out.

It was Konan. She glanced back once more at the silent Uchiha before answering it.

"H-Hello?"

"Hinata - thank God someone picked up! Do you know how many times we called?!" Ino's voice sounded on the phone.

"I-I had left my purse on the-"

"It doesn't matter! We know where Anne is! Where is Sasori?"

Hinata looked back at Sasuke to see that he was still standing, watching her every move. He had probably forgotten about Mondine. She couldn't let him catch on to the conversation.

"Tell me."

"Hinata? What are you talking about? We need to speak-!"

"Now." Hinata emphasized on it more. She heard the phone shuffle in the background and heard Konan's calm voice.

"She's near a place called the 'Zeour's Shack'. Right behind it."

Hinata looked up and sighed a little. So Deidara and Sasori were going the wrong way "O-Okay. I'll be there."

"Don't go alone. Someone is bound to have a gun."

That scared her. "I got it. See you later." Before Konan could say anymore, the bluette hung up the phone and started towards the door. Anne was so close, she could be alive. She had to get there.

Before she could unlock the door, he grabbed her hand.

She looked away.

"Hinata."

She knew that he wouldn't let her go that easily, so she turned around to face him one last time. "Goodbye Sasuke.", she stated with sternness.

With that, she unlocked the door and practically sprinted to the stairs, effectively throwing him off from catching her.

Sasuke looked after the girl, only to see that she was gone without a trace. His face etched into a frown and with a groan, he muttered 'Dammit'. He had soon decided that he wasn't going to let her go that easily and went to the elevator.

It was a good thing that he did.

After the Uchiha got off the elevator to the first floor, his room exploded, shaking the whole Hotel Ritz Paris.
