Chapter 18: Revolution of the Wronged

"Come on we have to move!" Miroku shouted to the crowd of combat ready women behind him. "It's our last chance! Behind this door is your freedom ladies, if you all wish to fight then I need each and everyone of you."

"What is exactly behind that wall Miroku?!" A women from the back of the crowd ask aloud.

"According to this map" he yelled as he held it up in the air "this room is the security and weapons containment room, it holds the supplies for all the guards. Weapons, uniforms, maps, you name it it has to be here. If we can get your armed and prepared we can get out of here with the smallest amount of casualties. If you truly want to fight, then this is where you need to be. Whose ready to fight?!"

The women looked amongst each other, waiting for someone to speak up rather than it be themselves. They were all ready to fight, but were they willing to? This is a dangerous situation, before they were in the moment but no" they have a chance to escape and should they take it? Yes stopping this underground slave ring is a good idea, but could they actually pull it off? Could they survive?

Miroku's expression remained unchanged, his hand clenched into a fist as he shoved it into the air. "What about your families?!" He called out.

The women looked around each other, a small murmur coming over them as they whispered to each other.

"Hey!" He yelled "I asked a question!" He continued as he brought his hand down. "Don't you remember what you guys said back there? You said you didn't want your families to ever have to face this again. Well don't you still believe in that?" He asked. The women stared up at him, unwilling to speak. "If you escape from here you'll only be safe for so long! They'll come back for you and this time it won't just be you they'll take. It'll be your daughters, your sisters, your cousins, and aunts. You're whole family will be wiped out and you won't have a choice but to stand by and watch is that what you want?!"

A small woman, about the age of 25 with pale grey eyes started to make her way through the crowd. Her arms were thin and her spin was etched onto her back like a deep white tattoo, she had survived for many years here. But her famished figure was no match for the strength she forced on the women around her as she pushed through the crowd. She stumbled to the front, falling flat on her knees before Miroku; her breathing sharp and heavy as she shoved the hands around her away.

"I am weak, and have been here for too long. My husband probably thinks I am dead, and my sister has probably gotten married, but my son; my most beautiful creation is out there somewhere wishing for his mommy. He was only five years old when I was taken, and it's been two years. He is my everything and I must see his face again before I call it quits on this world." She said as she clambered to her feet. "I will join you Miroku."

Miroku looked at this women, and noticed a radiating beauty about her. While her hair was thin and dead around her, her clothes over sized, and her bones thick against her skin; she was beautiful. As were all these women, and somehow he tried to picture what Sango must have looked like amongst them before Inuyasha found her. She is drop dead beautiful but back then would she be like this? So beautiful on the inside that it masked the damage done to her on the outside? He smiled at the though of this knew found hope that lifted these women, and nodded his head at the young girl.

"I don't expect any of you to shoot a gun, to be honest it will most likely break your wrist at the first shot. But I want you all with protective gear, and to at least carry the guns. This will give you an upper hand against the guards. I will lead you out of here, and if need be I will kill anyone who stops us. I cannot do this with one person alone, and all of you will surely be dead without me. I'm not saying this to hurt you, but please, think about it." Miroku said.

Just as the silent fell heavily around them each woman in that ground nodded their head in agreement with Miroku, who smiled in return. He touched the shoulder of the young woman next to him and gave a look of appreciation. She returned to gesture with a pat on his hand, "you've got your army" she said.

An army indeed.

"My god Jinkotsu you stink you know that?" Sango said as she carried herself through the narrow square hallway of the ventilation system.

"That's the fourth time you said it and for the last time it's not me! This place smells like rotting flesh and dying dreams." Jinkotsu replied.

"You're a very heartless person you know that?" Sango snapped.

"Says the girl who keeps blaming me for a horrid smell after I rescued her." He said.

"Rescued me? You came into the room and practically cried over the fact that you didn't know what to do. I got us in this ventilation system and-"

"And how well has that been working out? Cuz by my count it's about 20 minutes later and we still haven't found a-"

"Sh!" Sango said as she waved her hand. Jinkotsu looked around her body towards her face to see her pressed against a grating in the left side of the wall. Her face scrunched up a bit as she look through the narrow openings in the gratings, "There's someone in here but I can't tell who".

"What if it's a guard?" Jinkotsu asked.

"No it's definitely not a guard because it's a girl...but I think...it might be Kagome.." She said hesitantly.

"Well is it?" He asked.

"I can't tell, I can't see her face." Sango said.

"Well even if it's not shouldn't we rescue her." Jinkotsu protested.

Sango looked back at him and thought for a moment before nodding in agreement. She placed her hands on the grating, pushing into the sides. It budged only a little, but she wasn't ready to give up and instead curled her hands into fists. One punch, two punches, three punches, and there! The grating fell to the floor with a radiating crash.

"Huh?!" The girl yelled as she looked up at the hole in the wall. "Sango?" the girl called.

"Kagome! That is you!" Sango shouted as she poked her head through the hole. "What's going on why are you in this room alone?"

"It's a long story but it involves Kikyo, so maybe that gives you a hint as to why." Kagome said as she wobbled to her feet and walked over to the wall.

"I mean yeah I guess but not really, to be honest I get no idea what's so ever from that." Sango said as she reached a hand down towards Kagome.

Kagome sighed and grabbed her hand, struggling to come up into the opening but managing somehow. "I guess I'll just explain later, besides you have to tell me why your here!"

"That's a story all on it's own. Now Come on let's move." Sango said as she pushed Kagome towards the other end of the hallway.

"Where are we going?" Kagome asked.

"I have no idea, but Jinkotsu said Inuyasha and Miroku are loose somewhere in here and we have to find them. Apparently Miroku's wearing a dress somewhere." She chuckled.

"What?" Kagome asked with a confused expression.

"I know isn't it funny? So going in the wedding vows. And I'll never forget the time the fair maiden rescued the other fair maiden, obviously he's the one being rescued since Jinkotsu over here is useless." Sango said, rolling her eyes as Jinkotsu protested behind them. Nobody especially Sango cared to listen.

"So where exactly does this tunnel lead?" Kagome asked.

"No idea cuz Mr. Useless has no map." Sango replied.

"Because your girlfriend took it!" Jinkotsu shouted. Both girls turned their heads back to shush him, yelling in an air vent isn't exactly normal these days. "Sorry" he said.

"Look let's just get out of this thing it's starting to get hot in here." Sango muttered.

"Hmm, maybe we should turn the air on." Kagome said.

"Haha very funny." Sango replied. They continued to crawl through this air vent without a clue where to go, they only hoped that eventually they would come across a room that wasn't locked from the inside or filled with guards. But to their surprise most of these rooms were vacant, they even passed one filled with beds that must've been used to house the sleeping slaves. "Miroku must have been here." Sango said.

"I guess so," Kagome said "Jinkotsu what about Sesshomaru, is he here?"

"Yeah he is but I have no idea where. Although I can't say I know where anyone is besides you two." He said.

"My god you are kind of useless you know." Kagome whispered.

"I heard that!" He said.

Sango shushed them both, her hands coming up to silence them again when they tried to speak. "Listen...do you hear that?" She said. The three of them stayed still in that very spot for a few moments, the faint sounds of mumbling coming from a near by grating.

"It sounds...like women...maybe a slave room?" Kagome asked.

Sango shrugged "I don't know, but we should check it out."

"Yeah I guess so" Kagome said as she hesitantly moved towards the sounds. She turned her head slowly towards the grating, her eyes pressed up to the slits between the metal. She could barely make out the room, a couple of shelves stacked high. There were people in it but this wasn't a slave room, but those weren't guards in there. Kagome closed one of her eyes and squinted the other as she tried to get a sharper view, making out some of the people to be tattered clothes slaves. They appeared to be loading themselves up with weapons, or at least struggling to hold what looked like guns.

"What's going on?" Sango whispered.

"I can't tell...it looks like..their arming themselves..." Kagome said, her hand coming up to touch the grating. "Wait...someone else is joining them."

"Okay girls I need you to put on anything you can that will protect you, grab knives any kind of combat weapon you can. Bring a gun if you can carry it but please don't shoot it allow me to do that." A male voice called out to the group.

"Sango..-"

"Is that Miroku?!" Sango almost whispered.

"Yes it is!" Kagome squealed as she shoved her hands against the grating. "Miroku! Miroku hey!"

Miroku's body whipped around in the crowd of girls as he searched for the location of that voice. "Whose calling me?"

"It's me! Kagome!" Kagome yelled, as she punched her hands onto the metal.

"Kagome?!Where are you?" He shouted.

"Me and Sango are in the vents! I'm going to try and push the grating out get everyone away from it!" Kagome yelled.

"Girls please back away from that wall" Miroku pleaded as he motion his hand away from them. The girls nodded and trotted to the other side, the grating popping out inch by inch every few seconds before finally crashing to the floor. Kagome winced at the sound and smiled, reaching her hand out towards Miroku who happily pulled her out. He reached his hand back up for Sango, who more than leaped out of the vents and into his arms.

"Miroku!" She shouted as she burrowed her face into the crook of his neck.

"Sango." He whispered as he ran his fingers down her hair. "You scared me half to death I didn't know what happened to you."

"I'm fine now" Sango said, taking Miroku's face into her hands.

"Yeah but what happened? How did they-"

"To be honest I don't know. Rin was out with one of the maids, and I was sitting in the house watching the news. I couldn't sleep, eat or think with all this going on. Then suddenly I woke up here to..ah! Oh my god! Jinkotsu!" Sango yelled as she turned to look at the vent opening. Jinkotsu sat in the frame of the opening, peering down at them.

"You finally remembered me." Jinkotsu remarked with a sarcastic tone.

"Oh Jinkotsu I am so sorry!" Sango said as Miroku reached up to help him down.

"Well done man." Miroku said as he gave him a light punch in the arm.

"For what?" Jinkotsu asked.

"Why for keeping them safe and out of harms way." Miroku said with a smile.

"Haha thanks, but I didn't do much." Jinkotsu said.

"Sure you did." Miroku insisted. He smiled briefly before turning to Sango, his hand reaching up to touch her cheek. "Sango, I have to get these women out of here. We've come up with a plan to kill the guards and escape, and since I know how you are and you know how precious you are to me than you should-"

"Oh you are not going to make me stay back here Miroku! I am coming with you and that's final!" Sango said.

"Good, I'm glad to see we're on the same page then." Miroku smiled as he handed her one of the armored chest plates.

"Wait..what?" Sango asked.

Miroku leaned forward, taking both of Sango's hands into his. "Sango look, I was gone for only a few hours and they got you. If I left you here for even a few minutes you could die and I wouldn't even know. Even if your in harms way I will protect you, I will keep you safe. I'd rather have the chance to keep you safe, than worry about whether you truly are. If that means arming you and having you beside me in this dangerous plan than so be it. As long as you are with me till the end that's all I care about." Miroku said as he wrapped his arm around Sango's waist, pulling her into him. He leaned down and pressed his lips against hers, his heat flowing through her.

"That's a bitter sweet proposal" She muttered through their kiss.

"Is it one you'll accept?" He asked.

"If it comes with a marriage later" She smirked.

He smiled and bent down to kiss her again, this time his arm tightening around her to press her against him.

"You bet it does." He whispered.
