Chapter 5

They had allowed for the Autobots to speak with Gears via transmission for ten minutes.

Where Optimus and others had been worried this would not be enough time to be assured the mech they were speaking to was no decoy, the minibot proved otherwise in less than half the time. He answered all of their questions without hesitation… and then elaborated further and further with complaint after complaint.

Some of the Autobots sighed and regretted watching the transmission. Others left with relieved grins, knowing their friend was at least still functioning.

The only thing worrisome was the comment he made about his spark.

However, before Gears could elaborate, their time ran out. They would have to wait two full earth days before the Decepticons let them speak with the captured minibot again.

Ratchet hopes it's just a case of the easily agitated mini's imagination, or simple stress.

The closest Soundwave has been to their guest since his capture was standing outside the room he was stashed in, scrambling any traces the Autobots may be running to try and pinpoint where exactly in the Decepticon base the little mech was being kept during their ten minute transmission…. And the whole time he was surrounded by seekers.

The cassette player had once been somewhat of an interest to their flying troops. That is, until he could no longer split his spark.

He had been the closest thing to a carrier for so long, that he underestimated their reaction to the news of a possible traditional carrier.

They had managed to convince the constructicons to modify a regular berth room into a secure (yet comfortable) cell without any major disputes. That kind of cooperation hasn't been seen since the beginning of the war, as most cycles on earth are filled with infighting.

…Starscream's group acting as the trine they claim to be hasn't been seen in a long while either….

Now however, their self proclaimed duty to the carrier drives them to work more efficiently than ever before.

It's fascinating, if a bit annoying.

Two trines watch the Third in Command warily as he takes his leave.

What could they possibly be thinking Soundwave would do?

The navy blue mech may not be as expressive on his opinion of Gears, but any Cybertronian who is not interested in the return of sparklings is lying to themselves.

As the cassette player exits the hoard of seekers' range of vision, Laserbeak lands on his shoulder.

Her field, just as the rest of his little ones, is full of eager curiosity.
