Chapter 6
"Do we tell him?" Dirge asks, after Starscream finally was able to fill in the second trine of the full situation.
The carrier seems completely oblivious to the second spark in his chassis, which hardly makes sense. The blue conehead remembers quite clearly how all carriers he met knew when a newspark was present, saying that the little one would project it's own individual feelings quite regularly.
From what Starscream had just described (and from listening in on the mini's transmission with the Autobots) it sounds like Gears thinks his spark pulse is off... And nothing more.
"We plan to." Thundercracker assures, holding up a datapad of the readings he and Hook took earlier. "I doubt he'll cooperate until then. All the medical grade energon we've offered, he accuses of being poisoned."
Every seeker grimaces at the thought of harming a carrier….
The mini's suspicions make sense though.
He technically is not a carrier at all, and he was initially taken as a bargaining chip. The fact that the Decepticons chose to keep him here must make him feel like a pawn caught in an unfortunate scheme.
Ramjet huffs through his vents, drawing the rest of his fellow seekers' attention.
"But what should we expect once he tells the Autobots? What of the newspark's sire?" the white conehead says expectantly.
"If they have a shred of decency or sense, they'll cooperate." Skywarp mutters, "Maybe send more than only three fragging cubes worth of energon for their own mech next time-"
Starscream places a servo on the purple mech's shoulder, silencing his near rant. The trine leader gives him a moment for the building tension in his frame to ease and relax.
"Optimus will keep to his word as long as we do not harm Gears or the little one. I don't know about the rest of them, but Prime is too honorable for his own good." The red and white flier says somewhat reluctantly. "As for the sire, oddly enough, Hook's scan shows that Gears is unbonded. So, the lack of a sire's presence won't physically harm the carrier or the newspark."
The relief throughout the room is instant.
The separation of a bonded sire from their carrier could often prove quite stressful. Sometimes enough that the carrier's spark fluctuates and either absorbs the newspark, or reduces its pull (causing the little one to collide with the spark chamber's wall and dissipate). Gears could prove to be a higher risk case, since his spark is that of a standard cybertronian. Much of the seekers' prior knowledge and experiences may not apply to this mech. So, the best they can do is take every precaution.
….Now to actually tell mini.
Note: I rewatched G1 recently, but out of everyone, I didn't pay too much attention to the coneheads. Gonna amend that sooner or later so i can get a better feel for writing them.
